Ten years ago, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and thousands of their shows’ most loyal fans took over the National Mall to throw their support behind a common cause. Having skewered American politics for years — Stewart with flustered liberal rage, Colbert with a barely hyperbolic spoof of conservative pundits — the pair was fed up with the polarization of politics that seemed to be taking over their every waking moment. At the time, both comedians insisted at every opportunity that they were “just comedians” rather than the political soothsayers some wanted them to be. Maybe that’s why, just a few weeks away from the first midterm elections after Barack Obama’s presidential victory, Stewart and Colbert combined forces to throw an event of epic proportions with no message beyond “it sure would be nice if everyone was less intense!” Determined to maintain some level of moderation between two increasingly extreme, disparate sides of debate,...

Once upon a time, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were supposed to be Jewish.
Bill and Alice Harford, the decidedly gentile married couple that the actors portrayed in 1999's Eyes Wide Shut, are about as kosher as a bacon milkshake. Ann Romney joined Fox News Channel host Bill Hemmer on Friday to discuss the recently released Netflix documentary about her husband and former Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney. She said that she always believed that her husband would be elected president and was shocked that he was not. When asked to comment on the state of President Barack Obama’s presidency, she refused to comment but noted that “the country lost” when they did not elect Mitt Romney in 2012.

Politics aside, Mitt Romney is a pretty remarkable guy. It takes a lot for anyone to run for president of the United States even once, but the former Massachusetts governor tried twice, and now both of those campaigns are the subject of the new Netflix documentary appropriately titled Mitt.

To "American Idol" alum Kellie Pickler, the cause of breast cancer awareness is close to her heart. She famously shaved her head to be a "cancer buddy" for her best friend Summer Holt Miller, who was diagnosed with the disease, so it's no surprise that she came on "Good Morning America" when the morning talk show went "pink."
Though Pickler didn't do an interview to discuss the way breast cancer has affected her life, she did perform two songs on "Gma." The first was "Don't You Know You're Beautiful," but it was her second performance for "Someone Somewhere" that caused Pickler to get really emotional.
Pickler's "Someone Somewhere" performance was dedicated to her friend Miller, who was in the audience to support her Bff. By the end of the song, Pickler had broken down into tears, and she quickly ran to Miller after her performance, hugged her, and told her friend that she loved her.

"SNL" hotshot Kate McKinnon chatted with NBC's Janine Brady over drinks at 30 Rock, and revealed that not only is the famed sketch show her dream job, but cited the funny women on the show in the past that inspired her.
McKinnon, best known for her impressions of Ellen DeGeneres and Ann Romney on "SNL," said, "When I started watching, it was '96-'97, and it was the Cheri Oteri, Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon era."
"I'd do anything with them. I would clean their houses," she joked.

Last year, Kristen Wiig’s emotional SNL sendoff set a high water mark for cast member farewells. (Compare it to, say, the way Chris Kattan said goodbye with a “terrible re-enactment” of his SNL career during his last show 10 years ago.)
I’d say that mark was met — and possibly exceeded — by the closing sketch of tonight’s show, in which Fred Armisen (as punk rocker Ian Rubbish, first introduced when Vince Vaughn hosted a few weeks ago) sang a sweet original tune filled with simple, evocative lyrics like, “It’s been all right, I’ve had a lovely night.

Only on Saturday Night Live would it be beside the point that Kate McKinnon is the show’s first openly gay woman. Since her debut just over a year ago, she has single-handedly revived the perennial show’s long lineage of searing, spot-on impersonations that rival those of Darryl Hammond, Gilda Radner and Martin Short. Her versions of Shakira, Penelope Cruz, Jodie Foster and Edie Falco don’t just come close; like any good caricature, they actually redefine the way you see the original person.
And yet, McKinnon is used so sparingly it begs putting the question to Lorne Michaels: What the hell are you waiting for? Her talent is bigger and brighter than some of your full-time cast members. She’s your ticket out of the malaise that has beset Season No. 38.

On Sunday, Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, broke their self-imposed silence in the wake of the 2012 campaign. The reaction to the couple's reemergence from many in the political press has been predictably aggravated. At least, this condition is predictable for those who recall how the media reacted when Sen. John McCain (R-az) and Cindy McCain broke their silence approximately four years ago.

Mitt Romney and his wife have finally spoken out about his loss during the 2012 presidential election. In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Ann Romney says she blames the media for the fact her husband is not president.
"He was not given a fair shake. People weren't allowed to see him for who he really was," she says. "I am happy to blame the media."
Ann continues, "I think that any time you are running for office you always think that you are being portrayed unfairly, and, you know, we -- of course, on our side believe there is more bias in favor of the other side. I think that, you know, that is a pretty universal."
For his part, Romney says that the fact he was unable to connect with minority populations ultimately hurt his campaign. He was "convinced we would win," and claims the past few months have been hard on him.

Lindsay Lohan won't be on "Dancing With The Stars" anytime soon.
TMZ reports that the actress and tabloid fixture turned down a series of offers -- maxing out at $550,000 -- to appear on the next season of the ABC reality dancing show.

The rejection also comes at a time when the former "Mean Girls" star's most recent projects -- "Liz & Dick" and the forthcoming "The Canyons" -- have become the objects of widespread mockery and derision.

Is an ad boasting "Enough episodes of Glee to make you question your sexuality" homophobic? Jezebel isn't sure. Honestly, it gave me a chuckle but Glee is its own universe when it comes to determining context.

Ann Romney won't be competing for the coveted mirror-ball trophy this spring on "Dancing With the Stars."
According to TMZ, the former Republican first lady hopeful turned down an offer by the ABC dance competition to join the cast for its 16th season, premiering in March.
Just weeks after her husband Mitt lost the presidential election to Barack Obama, Romney -- a "huge fan" of "DWTS" -- was in the "All-Stars" finale audience to see Melissa Rycroft capture the trophy.
Although Romney, 63, suffers from multiple sclerosis, she maintains an active lifestyle. She is an accomplished equestrian and has competed for years in the sport of dressage, often called "horse ballet."

The question of why Mitt Romney's candidacy for president failed is still being batted about, and it seems Mitt's son, Tagg Romney has provided a vital clue.
The Boston Globe has an in-depth look at Mitt's campaign strategy, including a quote from Tagg that has people talking.
"He wanted to be president less than anyone I've met in my life. He had no desire to ... run," says tag of his father. Mitt's wife, Ann Romney, is said to have teamed up with Tagg to convince Mitt to run.
"If he could have found someone else to take his place," Tagg explains. "He would have been ecstatic to step aside. He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn't love the attention."

Vanity Fair will be devoting their January 2013 issue to comedy and those who practice it best, a first for the magazine. While I support this idea wholeheartedly, there are a few kinks with the issue we need to discuss, because this is the Internet, and we can. First off: Vanity Fair teamed with 60 Minutes to create a poll about things that make us laugh, and like most polls penned by 60 Minutes, the results are weird. The main one we need to bitch about is this: 60% of those polled believe men are funnier than women.
Oh, I’m sorry. Did you say something? I couldn’t hear, because I was busy repeatedly slamming my head into a wall and wondering why the hell we’re still asking this question.

Can everyone in the room who still watches Saturday Night Live raise their hand?
Okay, you two - now put your hand down if you genuinely enjoy it. Now put your hand down if you use SNL to put your kids, partner, or cockatiel to sleep.
Now stop pretending that anyone else in the room had their hand up to begin with, Brian, because you are seriously the last idiot in God's green acres who still gives SNL a shot the two or three times a year that it's not a Justin Timberlake rerun.
Saturday Night Live has become that distant aunt that the whole family pretends is doing just fine even though she is hoarding cats and crafting an army of creepy pantyhose children because no one wants to be saddled with the responsibility of actually having to do anything about her. It hasn't really been truly amazing television...

Mitt Romney and his wife Ann tried to go back to their normal lives after losing their campaign on Election Day by seeing the final installment in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, ‘Breaking Dawn-Part 2,’ TMZ is reporting. The Republican presidential nominee and the former potential First Lady went to see the fourth sequel in the fantasy adventure drama in Del Mar, California last night. The Romneys were joined by two young men, but it wasn’t clear who they were in relation to the couple. Whoopi Goldberg said that she was dissatisfied with the way viewers reacted to her interview with Ann Romney.
Romney appeared on "The View" during the 2012 presidential election and answered questions about her family. Goldberg asked if her husband, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, did not serve in the military due to his Mormon faith. Romney shot down the question quickly, stating that many members of the Mormon faith serve in the armed forces. Her husband and her sons did not because they went on Mormon missions.
Goldberg was defended by some members of the media, including MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell. She was also harshly criticized by Romney supporters.
On Wednesday, Goldberg appeared on her "View" co-host's Current TV program, "Joy Behar: Say Anything!" When Behar asked Goldberg about the interview moment, Goldberg responded candidly. She said she really had always thought members of the Mormon faith did not fight due to religious reasons,...

Whoopi Goldberg defended her pre-election interview with Ann Romney, in which she incorrectly asserted that Mormons don’t serve in the military and questioned the Gop candidate’s wife on her sons’ lack of military service. "I was really incensed that people thought I was just messing with her,” Goldberg said Wednesday on Current TV’s Joy Behar: Say Anything! "I didn't feel that way, and I don't think she felt that way. I think she understood what I was asking because it's a big deal. We've got two wars, and if you're potentially the first lady, you're going to have to deal with this." Commentators decried

Leave it to Saturday Night Live to bring to the forefront this week one of the most divisive issues facing our country: Americans’ complicated feelings for Anne Hathaway. For all the people who enjoy her work, there are just as many who feel like Anne Hathaway the person tries a little too hard and can be a little too grating.
For those who aren’t typically impressed, your opinion might have changed last night, when Hathaway hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time. The always-game actress clearly gave it her all, and the material, while not exactly hilarious, was...

You knew it was going to be a rough outing for Saturday Night Live when — less than a week after the Presidential Election — the cold open was wasted on an extended (and not remotely funny) riff about Mitt Romney drinking massive amounts of milk. If I’d been in host Anne Hathaway’s shoes, I’d have been looking for a much stronger beverage after slogging through a variety of sketches that proved dubious in both concept and execution.

It seems as if host Khloe and judge Britney are battling it out in the fashion department since they both have been wearing similar styles this season on 'X Factor.' The contestants on the X-Factor may be competing to be the best voice heard, but it looks like they aren't the only ones going head-to-head on the show. Who looked better in leather? Vote! On Nov. 7, both stars shined in their slim-fit, leather look. Although they opted for the same material, they dressed perfectly for their body types by creating looks that were true to their individuality. However, both girls didn't forget to bring the sexy... they bared some skin in each of their looks. Khloe Kardashian wore a body-bearing leather dress with sheer accents and a thigh high slit. She looked trendy and chic! Britney went for an edgier, more casual look with liquid leather leggings and a statement belt.

What can Ann Romney do for a career now that she won't be First Lady? She was great on Good Morning America, so what about TV? —Blankey Poo, via Facebook Well, the first thought that came to mind was Dancing With the Stars, of course. But experts tell me that such a move would be a disaster for her. And I found out why, plus what she should really be doing next. If we do end up seeing Ann Romney somewhere, it likely won't be on a reality show, as awesome as that might be. According to Rachel Weingarten, a branding expert who has worked with everyone from Christina Aguilera to political wives she'd rather not name, Romney and, say, Dancing With the Stars, are not a good...

Barbara Walters says she's "so relieved" to be satisfied with the new role she filled for ABC News on Tuesday (Nov. 6), Election Night.
The television-journalism icon tells Zap2it, "For weeks, I had been doing homework. Whenever there was free time, I thought, 'I've got to read,' because I knew that I was going to be on and that I had to make a place for myself. I'm not a political analyst, and I wasn't given a specific assignment, so I had to pick areas and learn about them ... and that was where I could contribute.
"What did big business think of President Obama? What would happen to Ann Romney if her husband lost, since I've never seen a time when the candidates' wives have played such a major role? What was the effect of Hurricane Sandy on the election, since that was so unique? What's the future of the Supreme Court?...

Monday night Mitt Romney and Barack Obama made some of their last campaign stops in crucial swing states. Obama brought Jay-z to Ohio for a much-publicized rendition of "99 Problems," and continued his tour with Bruce Springsteen. Romney rallied in New Hampshire with veteran rocker Kid Rock.
Rock performed his song "Born Free" which Romney has used as a campaign song.
“I have to say thank you to Kid Rock," Ann Romney said, ABC News reports. "Let me tell you we are kids of Detroit, Kid Rock and I are, and Mitt is a kid of Detroit, and we love Michigan. We love Kid Rock. We love that he stood up for us and helped us out for all this time.”
After performing the song, Rock asked the crowd to "please welcome the next president and first lady, Mr. Mitt and Ann Romney."
Romney also received support from Sam Moore of Sam & Dave.

The First Lady's scarf and pin definitely added her own stylish flair to the outfit, giving it a more trendy vibe. Ann, on the other hand, stuck to a more classic, safer, approach. While they may find themselves on opposite ends of the ballot, these women definitely seem to...
