Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) believes the U.S. military should not block white nationalists from serving in the armed forces.
Speaking to Wbhm, an NPR station in Birmingham, Alabama, Tuberville complained that military recruitment was slowing down “because the Democrats are attacking our military, saying we need to get out the white extremists, the white nationalists, people that don’t believe in our agenda, as Joe Biden’s agenda.”
“They’re destroying it,” Tuberville added, referring to the military’s recruitment goals.

Julia Stiles is a mama!
The Riviera actress welcomed her first child, son Strummer Newcomb Cook, with husband Preston J. Cook on Friday, Oct. 20, she announced Tuesday on Instagram.
“Thanks and ever thanks to the extraordinary Doctors, Nurses and staff at Mount Sinai for helping bring this utter joy into our lives. “Hello, World!” the new mom captioned a sweet shot of her holding her newborn’s hand.
Strummer’s arrival comes weeks after Stiles, 36, and Cook tied the knot over Labor Day weekend on a Seattle beach, in what the star jokingly described on Instagram as a “shotgun wedding.

The Rock Meets With 10-Year-Old ‘Hero’ Who Saved His Brother’s Life With ‘San Andreas’ Move (Photos)
Hopefully you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend, but we’re betting it wasn’t half as awesome as Jacob O’Connor’s was. O’Connor, who saved his two-year-old brother’s life with a move that he learned from watching Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the 2015 film “San Andreas,” was rewarded for his heroism with an on-the-set visit to meet Johnson. Wrestler-turned-actor Johnson, who’s currently filming the film “Skyscraper,” chronicled the summit via his Instagram account with a series of posts documenting the get-together. Here’s what we’ve learned after one day at the Telluride Film Festival, which draws folks from all over the world to indulge in a Labor Day Weekend ritual of film gorging. Before boarding the Delta charter plane from Lax to Montrose, Colorado, the new Academy president, cinematographer John Bailey, admitted he hasn’t seen Telluride co-director Tom Luddy, or director Paul Schrader, since Schrader’s 1985 film “Mishima.” Schrader’s rigorously elegant “First Reformed,” starring Ethan Hawke in his update of Robert Bresson’s “Diary of a Country Priest,” is looking for a buyer, and distributors are eager to check it out here.
At the high-altitude opening day patron’s brunch, Rebecca Miller cheered on her “Maggie’s Plan” star Greta Gerwig, who is making her directorial debut with “Lady Bird.” Miller is at Telluride with a documentary about her father, playwright Arthur Miller.

It’s been less than a year since the last Star Wars Celebration unleashed itself upon London, but the semi-annual event is now poised to descend on Orlando for four more days of wall-to-wall “Star Wars” action and announcements. This year’s event will likely be even more celebratory than usual, focused on the 40th anniversary of the release of “Star Wars: A New Hope” and the ever-expanding franchise, now kitted out with a brand new trilogy and the promise of still more anthology films.
For fans of the saga, Celebration consistently provides a ton of news (from trailers and other footage to casting announcements and teases about new projects to come) and serves as a harbinger of things to come for a franchise still going through major changes. Ahead, we scope out five big ways that Celebration will impact both the “Star Wars” franchise and its very dedicated fanbase.

Move over, "Release the Kraken" – there's a new godlike command in town, and its word is law. (Jude Law, to be precise.) With this order, Pope Pius Xiii and The Young Pope alike begin their greatest triumph: an address to the Cardinals delivered in full papal regalia, towering tiara and all. The fact that the Holy Father gets his gear on in a full-fledged dress-up montage soundtracked by Lmfao's "Sexy and I Know It" doesn't undercut the totalitarian coming-out party that follows; if anything, it enhances it.

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6, we boarded the Nautilus with Killian Jones, and learned about his less than pleasant run in with Captain Nemo and his first mate Liam.
Did anyone call for an awkward and violent half-brother reunion?
Below, TV Fanatics Caralynn Lippo, Allison Nichols, Steve Ford, and Robin Harry, along with Once Upon a Fan's Teresa Martin, share their views on the Evil Queen's relationship with Henry and Rumple, the new plan for the shears, and more from "Dark Waters."
Does the Evil Queen really care about Henry, or is she just manipulating him to get what she wants?
Caralynn: It's tough to say. We do know, based on Hyde's relationship with Mary, that the evil halves are actually capable of feeling love/other positive emotions. I think it's likely that Eq does care about Henry, but she also wouldn't hesitate to manipulate him to get what she needs.

Cousin Matthew’s schedule just got a little busier. Variety is reporting that Dan Stevens, who made a name for himself on “Downton Abbey” before venturing beyond the walls of Lord Grantham’s estate, will next star in Gareth Evans “Apostle.” A revenge thriller set on a remote island, the film marks the director’s first feature since 2014’s “The Raid 2.”

Evans is both writing and directing “Apostle,” which finds Stevens as a man whose quest to rescue his sister from a cult is stymied by the religious group’s random demands after he finds her — and them — on an island. The period drama is set to go into production next March.

The big man Himself is coming back to the Great White Way. That’s right! “An Act of God” is returning to Broadway! Instead of Jim Parsons, however, the Lord Almighty will be personified by another Emmy winner: “Will and Grace” star Sean Hayes. Hayes previously played God in the (largely) one-man show through its runs in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He’s taking the David Javerbaum–penned comedy to New York City’s Booth Theatre. The intimate Booth became available to Hayes and crew once Eugene O’Neill’s “Hughie” shuttered its revival run two months earlier than projected. Considering the light ticket sales for Forest Whitaker’s Broadway debut, “An Act of God” is projected to make a fine replacement, financially speaking. Last year’s Jim Parsons–starring debut at Studio 54 grossed $11 million and turned a profit. The limited 14-week engagement also marks a new high point for director Joe Mantello.

Hollywood blacklist drama Trumbo has led the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards with three nods for lead actor Bryan Cranston, supporting actress Helen Mirren and the ensemble cast. The Martian and The Hateful Eight were shut out.
Set in 1947, the film centres on Dalton Trumbo (Cranston), who was Hollywood’s top screenwriter, until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs.
Cranston will go up against Johnny Depp for Black Mass, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl.
Films that secured two nominations included Beasts Of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight - whose outstanding cast nod will only strengthen its status as best picture Oscar frontrunner — and Steve Jobs.

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning in Hollywood, with a fair amount of surprises to be had. Leading the pack is Trumbo, which picked up three nominations, then a large batch of films behind it with two each: Beasts of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight, and Steve Jobs.
Perhaps most surprising is no mention of The Hateful Eight, which has one of the year’s best ensembles. Also of questionable note is the inclusion of Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, a film all but forgotten (we suppose Harvey Weinstein’s campaigning indeed worked). There’s also the welcome nods to Michael Shannon in 99 Homes and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back, as well as an ensemble nod to Straight Outta Compton. Check out the full list of nominees below ahead of the ceremony on Saturday, Jan.

They may not be General Zod or Darth Vader, but these characters are the kind of mundane villains you might encounter in everyday life...
The most memorable movie villains are often also the most outlandish. If you were to stop most strangers on the street and ask them to name screen villain, they’d probably either tell you to leave them alone and stop making them nervous, or they’d instead name one of cinema’s big hitters: heavy-breathing cloak-wearer Darth Vader, or flesh-eating aesthete Hannibal Lecter.
In reality, villains are more mundane. They seldom wear outlandish costumes, and they don’t necessarily even kill or injure people. Real-world villains can range from bullying and self-important bosses to aggressively opinionated news anchors, and from sadistic physical education teachers to heartless politicians.

From The Visitation to Into The Dalek, here's a potted history of the Doctor at his least compassionate and most callous...
"Never cruel or cowardly."
That's the Terrance Dicks line that Steven Moffat referenced in The Day of the Doctor.
"He's on the top layer if you want to say a few words."

For the hero of a family show, the Doctor is able to get away with some stupendously caustic and callous deeds. He's an alien genius, he grew up on planet Oxbridge, and he gets stuck into difficut situations. It's not a total shock,...
