The “time must be right” before Adam Warlock is introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Or so says James Gunn, writer and director on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Coming out of Vol. 2 and its delightful post-credits scene, one which Gunn himself fought to keep in the finished cut, many had assumed that Warlock was a shoo-in for the third Guardians movie. But it appears that’s not the case.
Per Twitter, the Marvel mainstay conceded that Adam Warlock was almost left waiting in the wings during Vol. 2, as he wasn’t part of the studio’s plans for either Infinity War or Avengers 4. “We had no plans for him in general,” according to Gunn.
Turns out that’s still very much the case, as the filmmaker recently stressed that Warlock was “never confirmed” for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is now incubating in the formative stages of development...

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Monday’s season finale of Jane the Virgin.
Meet Jane’s first love!
On Monday’s season three finale of Jane the Virgin, Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) had an unexpected chance encounter with her mysterious first boyfriend, Adam (Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey) -- a character teased by the all-knowing narrator in a March 27 episode, and it looks like he’ll be sticking around for season four.
“You’re going to need to know what his backstory is, why she never thought she’d see him again [and] why he was her first love. That’s going to take her on a real journey and obviously, there’s big history there,” creator and executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman told a small group of reporters after the finale table read, adding that Jane and Adam will be “grappling with their circumstances.”

But because Johnson is such a big deal, his baddie is now getting his own separate movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Adam will be an anti-hero character in the spinoff, though it's unclear if this will happen before or after the events of Shazam!, which is still in the works. It's not mentioned which would be released first, either. For a recap on who Shazam and Black Adam are, check out our guide from...

It sounds like the DC Extended Universe just got a Massive shot in the arm. Dwayne Johnson, also known around Hollywood as franchise viagra (and for good reason), has received his own film. The studio’s made the smart decision to have him headline an upcoming feature as Black Adam rather than just have him appear as the character in Shazam, which was the original plan. Word on the street is that they intend to get things into motion pretty quickly and now, we may know why.
Initial reports pointed to Johnson making a cameo in an upcoming DC movie to introduce him to audiences before he gets his own solo outing. While there’s no confirmation just yet from Warner Bros. on where he’ll show up, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit thinks it might be in James Wan’s Aquaman, which will swim into theaters on October 5th,...

When he walked away all pumped and shared with his fans on social media that the future of the Dceu now looked brighter than ever, everyone instantly assumed that Shazam! would not be gaining some traction and that the movie was going to enter...

Deadline is reporting today that Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC adaptation, Shazam will be split into two films, with one focusing on the titular hero and the other on Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
The two projects will be developed concurrently and the decision to make the split came from a meeting that the actor took last week with DC Films co-head Geoff Johns. Things went so well between the two that the studio decided to give Johnson his own feature, rather than just make him the villain of Shazam.
It makes perfect sense, too, seeing as The Rock is one of the biggest stars on the planet at the moment and we all know that the Dceu could use a shot in the arm right about now – especially if those reports about Wonder Woman turn out to be true. If there’s someone who can turn things around for the studio,...

We live in an age of buzzwords, hashtags, trending phrases, and heightened hive mentalities.
This means that when things catch on, they're suddenly on the tips of everyone's tongues (or should I say fingertips since people don't like to actually speak anymore?). One that's very popular at this moment, especially because of the polarizing election season we all just endured here in the states, is the term "fake news." During the election season, there were dozens- if not hundreds- of sites that profited directly from their ability to hoodwink you. They'd entice you to click, give you some sort of non-information- or worse, fictional information- and before you could go running to yell at your friends on social media about your latest epiphany, the owners of the site were laughing all the way to the bank.
Yes, there certainly are nefarious figures out there who seek to make a profit...

In an age where fans have always kvetched about whether or not the cinematic adaptation matches the books, especially when it comes to costumes, Batman has always soared just below the radar. It's funny to think that fans have lost their minds about things like Superman's red shorts, the size of the arachnid on Spider-Man's chest, or whether or not Thor wears his helmet in the movies, while being totally fine with Batman's suit getting reworked every 15 minutes for the last 38 years.
Mind you, I'm not saying there should be controversy. I've always been of the mind that filmmakers are perfectly justified in making adjustments, evolutions, and alterations based on what they need for their adaptations. I've just always been amused at the way The Dark Knight seems to be immune from these kinds of conversations.

Apparently, somewhere between rocking everyone's worlds with Guardians of The Galaxy for Marvel Studios, and getting Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 ready for its upcoming May premiere, James Gunn managed to get another one of his scripts produced. This one flew totally under my radar.
And it looks fantastic!!
The Belko Experiment has an impressive cast that includes John Gallagher Jr. ("The Newsroom," 10 Cloverfield Lane), Tony Goldwyn ("Scandal"), John C. McGinley ("Stan Against Evil," "Scrubs"), Adria Arjona ("True Detective"), Josh Brener ("Silicon Valley") Melonie Diaz (Nothing Like The Holidays, Fruitvale Station), and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy).
Gunn wrote the script and Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) directed it. Check out this new trailer for The Belko Experiment right here:
The Belko Experiment is a terrifying, provocative and at times hilarious thrill-ride that literally provokes the question; what does it take to survive at work?

A couple of days ago, I shared both the Red and Green Band trailers for Woody Harrelson's next film, Wilson. You guys seemed to like what you saw (I know I did!), and so today I've got the new official poster for the flick- which is set to make its world premiere at Sundance this weekend!
Harrelson's character in Wilson, which is based on the graphic novel by Daniel Clowes (who also wrote the script), is a pretty awkward dude. This poster looks to hit that point home in an awkward way.
Check out this new poster for Wilson:
Woody Harrelson stars as Wilson, a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern) and gets a shot at happiness when he learns he has a teenage daughter (Isabella Amara) he has never met. Over Christmas, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared a very interesting image of both him and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill sharing a drink and seemingly plotting out the future of the DC Films Universe. It's been a while since we've heard anything about Shazam, while the Man of Steel sequel also seems to be on hold. It makes sense then that these two will end up meeting! Whether Superman will show up in Shazam or Black Adam will take the hero on elsewhere remains to be seen, but thanks to @Bosslogic, we now have a very good idea of what that clash will look like! Pitting The Rock against Superman is a guaranteed box office hit, and Warner Bros. need all the help they can get with the DC Films Universe right now, especially if Wonder Woman and Justice League don't live up to expectations. We'll...

Henry Cavill recently posted a photo of himself sitting down and having a nice friendly drink with Dwayne Johnson. It looks like there's more than meets the eye here, though. The photo came with an interesting caption that reads:
Merry Christmas a Happy New Year from Superman and Black Adam @therock . Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We’re excited for what the future brings.. #DangerousGentleman #DCWorldsWillCollide #Superman
That seems like a pretty big tease that Superman and Black Adam will eventually face off in an upcoming DC movie, but what movie could that be? Well, Man of Steel 2 is definitely in early development and will be released sometime after Justice League, which is still a couple years out. Then there's Shazam, which isn't set to be released until 2019.
I would think that Shazam will just focus on the rivalry between Shazam and Black Adam. In regards to fighting Superman,...

We're counting down the crazy until The Young and the Restless' 11,000th episode, and nobody is being left behind!
Not only are we being treated to sweet memories from the cast at the beginning of each episode, but the action is pretty much non-stop. We're getting even more new sets, seeing more familiar faces, and we're being promised more big stories to come. Let's dig in!
Did they break the mold when hiring Justin Hartley to play Adam Newman? I'm starting to wonder. The current Adam storyline has a feel of finality about it. Not as in death, but as in he's going away, and we'll not be seeing him for a while. At least not until Hartley is available again to play him.
I could be wrong, and I hope so, because I've really liked this incarnation of Adam. In the right hands, he can be just...

Since its announcement, there have been doubts as to whether or not Shazam! would tie-in with the current DC film universe due to the fact that Johnson’s production company Seven Buck Productions is developing the film along with New Line Cinema. Well, the rumors can finally be put to rest, because it's been confirmed that Shazam! will indeed be joining the Dceu. During an interview with Newsweek, Dany Garcia, Johnson's manager and co-producer, revealed that Shazam and Black Adam will be sharing the skies with the Man of Steel. “Shazam! is to live in the same world [as the other films] but we have incredible autonomy over this brand and franchise," said Garcia. "We are working with a different team, different producers, directors… it’s a different set-up." Garcia went on to address the backlash from Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, and how it could affect Shazam! “We don’t feel fettered by,...

Omg. Kerry is Jason's mother?!? Ewww. Thank goodness they couldn't reproduce.
Seriously guys, that reveal on Wayward Pines Season 2 Episode 9 was something I never saw coming.
I wondered if anyone from Wayward Pines Season 1 would make it out of this season alive. It looks like Adam will be the sole survivor.
Of course there's no guarantee of that, but I don't expect to see him again.
Theo used his power of manipulation on Kerry to try and get her to turn against Jason. It didn't work, but in the end she had no choice but to take him out anyway. Jason attacked her first, and as she told Pilcher in the flashbacks, she knows how to survive.
So, what happens now?

Coming from obscurity to produce some of the greatest and most enduring classics of all time, with themes that shook the nation, Charlotte, Anne and Emily remain one the greatest literary mysteries in the world.
The drama revolves around the three sisters’ increasingly difficult relationship with their brother Branwell, who in the last three years of his life – following a tragically misguided love affair – sank into alcoholism, drug addiction and appalling behaviour. Life at home with the Brontes at this time was not a comfortable place to be, and yet from this environment sprang their remarkable literary output.

Like Kim Kardashian posting another glassy-eyed selfie on Instagram, tonight’s The Voice Live Playoff results for Teams Pharrell and Adam will likely be set to the “utter predictability” filter.

The Live Playoffs on The Voice continue. After Team Blake and Team Christina opened up the Playoffs, the other half of the coaching panel takes the stage. Team Adam and Team Pharrell will be on display to wow us with their talent and try to gain our votes. Though if I'm being 100% honest, it is likely that only one of the teams will be able to do the former.
Now that it has been revealed that the coach comebacks apply to any of The Voice rejects, we also have to wait and see who Pharrell and Adam will bring back. Will they go outside their team like Christina or stay firmly with who and what they know like Blake? Will any of these returning players even make a difference?...

Those ugly words of vitriol you spat over the weekend about Miley Cyrus joining The Voice as a full-time, red-chair-occupying coach for Season 11?
We regret to inform you that you’re going to have to sprinkle ’em with cinnamon and sugar, then nom-nom-nom ’em. Because despite her array of questionably tailored, homemade clown costumes, the “Wrecking Ball” singer — who was serving as Special Advisor to all four teams during the Season 10 Knockout Rounds — offered more specific, actionable, insightful advice over the course of the episode than Adam, Pharrell, Blake and Xtina combined.

Welcome to the DC Weekly, where every week we cover the land of DC comics, TV, and movies. Be it random bits of news, TV show reactions, or miscellaneous reviews, editorials, or speculation, you can be sure to get your DC fix here!
This Week will only contain a single editorial from me. I bring into question a character who was missing from last week’s Dawn Of The Justice League TV special.
What’S The Deal With Shazam?
I’ve had a bit of a DC hangover from all the goods we got last week. I’m not complaining in the slightest. After all, this is the kind of world I wish we lived in as a kid. But it was a lot of stuff to take in at once. For the longest time, we’ve been feeding on scraps and promises from DC and WB, but now after years of waiting,...

Kevin argues that Victor is not trustworthy and that the kidnappers are getting too much credit for doing what they say they are going to do. He wants in. Adam Savage is staying busy after filming wrapped on the last season of MythBusters. He's been working with Tested, letting them into his workshop and showcasing the props he's collected or fabricated himself. His next endeavor is replicating the spacesuit from the movie The Martian. In order to do this, he's going to need some frame of reference to work from. What better reference than the suit used in the film? Fox Studios loaned the prop to Savage so he could photograph, measure, and scrutinize each element. Afterwards, Adam will document the building process until he is wearing his own Martian spacesuit. ...

The first Supergirl episode of the year shows that it's willing to learn and grow without compromising on its original vision...
This review contains spoilers.
9.9 Blood Bonds
Secret identities are dumb. Well, they serve a purpose in-universe when there are legitimate threats against a hero's nearest and dearest but, as a narrative tool? They're dumb. Over the course of Blood Bonds, said identity was disappointingly shoved back in the bottle, and Cat Grant remains none the wiser about Supergirl's civilian name and face, thus rendering one of the best bits of the show's mid-season finale completely pointless.
It's not dissimilar from Arrow's decision to have Quentin arrest Oliver for his alleged vigilante ways surprisingly early in its first season, thus plausibly throwing off suspicion for the character most likely to go on a witch hunt later on. Here, at least, more or less everyone knows the truth,...
