It's game over for The Wilds.
Deadline reports that Prime Video has canceled the buzzy drama after two seasons.
The series burst onto the screen in 2020, landing a speedy renewal and rave reviews.
As the first YA series on the streaming service, it broke through in a way many shows that followed it did not.
However, the second season premiered in May, failing to reach its predecessor's success.
Season 2 of The Wilds continued to follow the harrowing ordeal of a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, and they didn't end up there by accident - they've secretly been recruited into an elaborate social experiment.
The season ratchets up the drama by revealing that the girls aren't the only ones being studied... there's a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment's puppet master.

Exclusive: Prime Video’s The Wilds will not return for a third season. I hear the cast and crew of the YA survival drama were just told about the decision, which comes almost three months after Season 2 was released May 6.
The Wilds, one of the last shows developed and produced by the late Jamie Tarses, was an important series for Prime Video and Amazon Studios. It was part of the very first batch of YA pilots ordered by Amazon Studios soon after Jennifer Salke took the reins as part of an expansion in that arena. It was the first YA series to premiere on Prime Video and the first to go to a second season.
Prime Video remains committed to young-adult content with a slate that includes recent breakouts The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Invincible as well as the upcoming series Shelter, based on the...

For “The Wilds” writers, executive producers and showrunners Sarah Streicher and Amy B. Harris, the island on which a group of teen women — and in Season 2, a control group of adolescent boys — are trapped (as unwilling participants in a twisted sociological experiment) is a metaphor for coming of age, which, Harris told TheWrap, is “very dark for a lot of people.”
“And the idea that you can be seen and that a story that you relate to or feels like it’s a part of what you went through — even if it’s dark — deserves, I think, to be told,” she added.
When the Prime Video show premiered in late 2020, it unraveled a complex survivalist narrative featuring young women in hostile opposition to their surrounding environment, themselves and often each other. They were forced to learn how to hunt, build shelter and make peace with their horrifying newfound situation. Season...

“Once upon a time, two plane crashes were staged. All of the victims were dosed and stranded on two islands.”
So begins “The Wilds” Season 2 trailer, confirming the cliffhanger ending of the first Prime Video season, which premiered in December 2020.
The gendered social experiment “The Rise of Eve” led to the discovery of the all-male “control group,” which eerily mirrors the girls’ group, consisting of Sarah Pidgeon, Helena Howard, Mia Healey, Erana James, Sophia Taylor Ali, Shannon Berry, Reign Edwards, and Jenna Clause.
“Brothers and Sisters” alum Rachel Griffiths stars as the mastermind scientist behind the boundary-pushing experiment to create a utopia.
“The Wilds” is created by Sarah Streicher, and Season 2 premieres May 6 on Prime Video. The first trailer for the second season shows that the boys’ group, dubbed “The Fall of Adam,” is now at the center of the “Lord of the Flies”-esque series.

Exclusive: Paramount Network has opted not to pick up a second season of comedic drama 68 Whiskey, an adaptation of the Israeli TV series Charlie Golf One.
The show, from Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios, was well received with a 88% fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating. It also got off to a strong TV ratings start, with the January 15 premiere drawing 2 million viewers in Live+3 Nielsen numbers to mark the most-watched cable drama series premiere in the metric since November 2018. Following the promising premiere the ratings slipped, however, and overall the series ranked outside of the Top 100 in total viewers, adults 18-49 and 25-54 year-to-date (Live+3).
68 Whiskey‘s cancellation leaves powerhouse Yellowstone as Paramount Network’s only current original scripted series. The net’s dramedy Emily In Paris recently relocated to Netflix. Paramount Network earlier this year gave a series order to drama Coyote starring Michael Chiklis.

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Paramount Network series, 68 Whiskey, will manifest as a military dramedy.
68 Whiskey is ready to make its mark as the next blue-chip television offering on the rebranded-from-Spike-tv and still-burgeoning Paramount Network, set as the first original series to accompany its hit drama, Yellowstone.
The series, an Americanized adaptation of Israeli television offering Charlie Golf One, is a modern military dramedy that arrives under the auspices of executive producers in Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Of course, 68 Whiskey will immediately evoke the memory of M*A*S*H., since, like that classic series, it centers on the daily travails (and hijinks) of military combat medics – in this case stationed in Afghanistan. Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios are producing the series.

The original Dora the Explorer was synonymous with learning by repetition. We’ll begin with a hat tip to that educational cartoon – the inspiration for this fabulous family film – and say, Dora and the Lost City of Gold is estupendo! Can you say estupendo?!
Young Dora (Madelyn Miranda), her vivid imagination and her cousin Diego have enjoyed an idyllic (and mildly treacherous) childhood roaming free in the Peruvian jungle surrounding their isolated home. When Diego’s parents relocate to the city Dora’s imaginary talking map, backpack and monkey friend Boots fill the hole her companion has left in her life. And help her evade Swiper the light-fingered fox.
As Dora grows, so does her appetite for adventure. Ten years pass and her indulgent parents become increasingly concerned about the risks she takes (and her tendency to narrate). A thrilling discovery leads them to make a tough decision about her future.

Do-do-do-do-Dora. Do-do-do-do-Dora. Anyone with a child born within the past two decades is cursing out loud, singing the “Dora the Explorer” theme song in their head, or perhaps both! Either way, it’s inescapable in the live-action Dora and the Lost City of Gold in which a teenage Dora is forced to survive the challenges of high school and the jungle.
Opening with a young Dora and Diego deep in the jungle, Dora soon finds herself without her best friend when Diego moves to the city. Left with only her parents, she spends the next ten years being homeschooled by her professor parents, Elena (Eva Longoria) and Cole (Michael Peña), and making friends with the animals she finds on her many adventures. It’s only after Dora (Isabela Moner), now a 16-year old girl, stumbles upon a key to the lost city of Parapata that her parents send her to...

Put under a microscope, any kids’ show is at least a little bit weird. The long-running animated “Dora the Explorer” is no exception, hinging on fourth wall-crashing moments in which the plucky eponymous heroine stops to help teach her audience basic Spanish, while often adventuring through a jungle filled with solvable puzzles, talking backpacks, and a sweet monkey who frequently wears rainboots. Fortunately, everyone involved with the live-action spin on the Nickelodeon series, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” is well-aware of that fact, happily marrying the odder elements of the animated series and a fizzy “real world” adventure to delightful effect.
Tellingly, James Bobin’s film opens with a glimpse at what a faithful live-action take on the nearly two decade-old series might look like: a pair of grinning kids trundling through the jungle, aided by anthropomorphic hiking supplies and animal pals, eagerly teaching conversational Spanish along the way.

Many parents (this one included) have fond memories of Dora the Explorer, the animated Nickelodeon children’s series that provides the springboard for the new live-action film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold. The show, about a little Latinx girl who goes on various adventures with the help of her pet monkey Boots and her talking backpack, along with other friends, was known for breaking the fourth wall so that Dora could engage with her delighted audience directly and solicit their help in solving the puzzles and games that were part of each episode’s quest.
As with many such properties that are charming in their simplicity, and seemingly effortless at reaching a specific audience, the idea of a live-action adventure seems almost counter-intuitive. Surely the guileless nature of the show,...

Dora the Explorer was seven years old when audiences met her on television, a sing-songy polymath who traveled the map seeking answers and solving puzzles, accompanied by a big-mouthed backpack and equally loquacious monkey, Boots. Nearly 20 years have passed since the adventure show first aired (enough to cultivate a massive global awareness), but only 10 in Dora’s world, which means her live-action debut, director James Bobin’s “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” gives audiences of all ages the chance to see the character — whose unquenchable thirst for education knew no bounds — face the ultimate test: adjusting to an American high school.
If that sounds like a pretext for a snappy, self-parodying TV-to-film adaptation — something in the vein of “21 Jump Street” or “The Dukes of Hazzard,” perhaps — think again. Yes, the movie is postmodern enough to acknowledge that there’s something odd about Dora’s penchant for breaking...
