In what can only be interpreted as a delayed response to the phenomenal success of 2010’s “Morning Glory,” Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are attached to an untitled new TV series about the world of morning shows. The series is based on an original idea from Michael Ellenberg, who formerly served as head of drama for HBO, and Jay Carson (“House of Cards”) will write the script. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.

Perhaps I just live in a bubble, assuming that everyone’s exhaustion with the Gallagher brothers had, among some other things — e.g. the sense that nostalgia was what mostly fueled their contemporary interest — made Oasis a thing of the past. At least not something that encourages a big distributor to buy a documentary. Yet here we are with Oasis: Supersonic, an A24-released look at the English band’s astronomic rise and gradual descent into inebriated, half-ironic karaoke renditions of their greatest hits — though the trajectory being put into those terms isn’t entirely expected.
A24 is making an event out of the release, putting the film into U.S. theaters for one night only (i.e. before the inevitable VOD release) on October 26. Mat Whitecross (of the Ian Dury documentary Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) has directed the picture, while Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna) executive produces, and its first...

Carrie Fisher is winning the Force Awakens press tour. Carrie Fisher does not care about going off topic. Carrie Fisher is not here for your silly questions. Carrie Fisher will bring her dog, Gary Fisher, to your interview. Watch her interview on Good Morning America yesterday below. It's a David Foster Wallace treatise on the media, all the potential of the trailer for (but not the film version of) Morning Glory, and, heck, Best in Show, condensed into one perfect clip. But Carrie Fisher did not simply wake up one morning and decide that she was going to be wacky on Good Morning America. No, Carrie Fisher always speaks from her heart and what she speaks is the most honest truth in the Galaxy. This all began on March 5, 2013, when Carrie Fisher announced to the world, or rather Palm Beach Illustrated, that she was doing the new Star Wars movie...

Episode 26 of 52: In which Tracy and Hepburn's best comedy shows that love, life, and law are a circus.
How are we already halfway through this series? How are we already halfway through this year? 2014 is going by faster than KHep’s dialog in Morning Glory. (See what I did there?) We’ve already covered one debut, an Oscar win, a masterpiece, a massive failure, an equally massive comeback, cinema chemistry history, racist history, communist history, and some odd miscellany, and we haven’t even gotten to the bulk of Kate’s Oscar nominations yet. Plus, in yet another moment of perfect symmetry, the 26th film is the pinnacle Tracy/Hepburn collaboration and a major milestone in Kate's career: Adam's Rib.
A woebegone wife attempts to shoot her husband when she finds him in the arms of his mistress. It’s the stuff that Law & Order episodes are made of.

Many natural phenomena take on strange and frightening forms when you look at them just right – and this amazing gallery of water images curated by travel site Matador Network offers some seriously chilling examples of nature's spooky side. Photo: Andri Elfarsson The 65 photos in the collection were taken from every part of the globe, and many of them are very easy on the eyes. But others resemble hellish alien landscapes, and a few, like this Morning Glory Pool at Yellowstone National Park, even look like they're staring back at you: Photo: Achint Thomas Other creepy examples include a perfectly round mega-sinkhole in Belize, the blood-red Daqubang River in China, the well-named “Devil's Bath” in New Zealand, and a living organic soup bubbling up from a pond in Switzerland. Amanda Berry, one of the three Cleveland women found held captive in an area home for 10 years, made her first public appearance this weekend, showing up on stage at the RoverFest concert Saturday (July 27).
Berry and some family members joined Nelly on stage before and after his set, though she did not address the crowd. But the crowd's cheers for her were loud and long. The above photo was provided by a concert-goer named Brian Harrell, a University of Akron professor who tweeted it along with the caption: "Roverfest was awesome. Shane French, who hosts Rover's Morning Glory radio show, tells the AP that he issued an invitation to Berry on his show a few weeks ago, but had no idea she heard it.

These past few months, I've grown weary trying to find albums that engage me from start to finish. In fact, I've yet to find one album in the past few months I can listen to top to bottom. I truly believe that we are back in the land of "singles." Not saying that a Blood on the Tracks, Dark Side of the Moon, Ok Computer, or (What's The Story) Morning Glory? isn't lurking in the shadows, but.... I'm old enough to have bought 45s back in the '60s when I was a young pup; my first was The Beatles' "Rain"/"Paperback Writer." In the land of digital, I'm happy to download one song from some new noteworthy act and let it fall into my enormous random shuffle playlist (over 8,700 songs and counting). And that "single" is not always the band or label's choice; in the age of iTunes, we...

X-Men #1, Brian Wood, Olivier Coipel, Marvel Comics
After a couple of delays, Brian Wood’s all female cast X-Men book finally hit shelves this week. I’d been intrigued by the concept and had been looking forward to it for some time. Regular readers will know that I was burned somewhat by All New X-Men (has that actually gone anywhere yet, those continuing to read it?) so my enthusiasm had been tempered a bit. On the basis of this first issue though, I’d say things are looking quite promising for the title.
This issue introduces us to our cast, which includes Jubilee, Storm, Psylocke, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Grey and Rogue and sets up the first of a three part arc. I won’t dwell too much, but the plot here involves a series of unfortunate events that occur when Jubilee comes into possession of a baby...

There has perhaps not been such an iconic rock group in the UK since the Beatles; Oasis were perhaps the biggest band of the 90′s. At that time you could not walk past someone on the street who didn’t love at least one of the Manchester band’s tunes, and even today their music means so much to their loyal fans and new fans alike.
You would be hard pressed to find anyone that had not heard “Wonderwall”, unless you know someone who has been living under a rock for the last 20 years. Oasis mania swept the nation and the effects are still here to be seen. The band’s first two albums are critically acclaimed and host a wide array of quintessential songs. These melodies have the attributes to make grown men weep – the life affirming Whatever and the beautifully nonsensical Supersonic are just a couple of the...

Liam Gallagher has claimed that Beady Eye's second album is the kind of record Oasis should have made after their classic album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher surprised fans when his band Beady Eye included two Oasis songs in their set Thursday night. This is the first time Gallagher has publicly played tracks from the Oasis catalog since the band's infamous split in 2009.
Beady Eye -- comprised of former Oasis band members Liam, Gem Archer, Andy Bellplayed and rounded by drummer Chris Sharrock -- performed two Noel Gallagher-penned tracks, "Rock 'N' Roll Star" and "Morning Glory." The band also premiered a new song, written by Liam, titled, "The World's Not Set in Stone."
Earlier this year, Gallagher announced his intention to start singing Oasis material again. "I feel they're just as much my songs as they are Noel's. And if people don't like it, go to the bar or f--k off," he told Xfm. "If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time."

Adele's chart-topping sophomore album 21 has now surpassed Michael Jackson's seminal album Thriller on the U.K.'s all-time biggest selling albums list.
21 has now sold 4,274,300 copies in the U.K., 500 more than Jackson's 1982 classic. Adele's album is now No. 5 on the list. Topping the U.K.'s biggest selling albums of all-time is Queen's Greatest Hits, with sales of 5.83 million. The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band holds the No. 2 slot, with 5.04 million copies sold.
Rounding out the top four are Abba's Gold and Oasis' (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, holding down the No. 3 and No. 4 postions, respectively.
Jackson's Thriller, however, still reigns supreme internationally, topping the list of all-time best-selling albums. To date, Thriller has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. Adele's record has sold more than 20 million copies around the world.

Adele's unstoppable 21, which is closing in on 9 million in sales in the U.S. (making our prediction that it will likely become the first diamond record in the states since Usher's 2004 Confessions set on the nose), just blasted past Michael Jackson's 1982 classic Thriller on the U.K. all-time bestseller list, according to NME.
21 is now the fifth best-selling album in the U.K. with staggering sales of 4,274,300 copies since its release in January 2011, besting Thriller's sales by about 500 units.
Her sales are not that far off the next two albums – Oasis's What's the Story Morning Glory and Abba's Gold: Greatest Hits – on the list either, though she's got a ways to go before she reaches the list's top two spots, which are owned by The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at #2 (5.04 million) and Queen's Greatest Hits at #1 (5.83 million records sold).

Adele just keeps rolling up records. The singer's sophomore album, 21, may finally have lost its perch at the top of the U.S. albums chart, but its continued strong sales in England have helped catapult it above one of the all-time greats on the list of the U.K.'s best-selling albums in history.
According to the Official Charts Company, after recently moving ahead of Michael Jackson's Bad, Adele scooted up another notch on the U.K. list when 21 jumped up to #7, passing Pink Floyd's 1973 prog rock masterpiece, The Dark Side of the Moon. To date, 21 has sold 4.14 million copies in the U.K., putting it within spitting distance of the #6 album, Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms, which is just 12,000 copies ahead. Adele is moving...

Oasis's classic song 'Don't Look Back In Anger' has been named the 'Most Explosive Chorus' by NME magazine. The band's international hit, which was released as a single from 1995's (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, topped a list of the '50 Most Explosive Choruses'. The Ronettes' 'Be My Baby' came in second place, while The Killers were at three with Mr Brightside'. Kings of Leon's 2008 single 'Sex On Fire' came in fourth place and Muse's 'Plug In Baby' completed the top five. The criteria for the songs that made the list - as explained by NME - were defined as: "A great chorus is like take-off - the bit in the song that makes you a) sing, b) cry, or c) sprint to the dancefloor. Or all three." Liam Gallagher (more)...
