“Dating & New York” has a natural feel for its Manhattan milieu and the various ways in which cell phones and dating apps have reconfigured courtship dynamics. Unfortunately, those are the only fresh components of this otherwise routine romantic comedy, which despite a number of self-conscious touches that suggest an innovative approach to familiar material, Winning chemistry between its stars may help it make inroads with millennial audiences when it debuts in theaters and on VOD on Sept. 10 (following its online premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival), but most will likely find their own iPhones a more engaging viewing option.
On a dating app called “Meet Cute,” Milo and Wendy (Francesca Reale) hit it off, sleep together and then go their separate ways, only to reconnect after their respective best friends, Hank (Brian Muller) and Jessie (Catherine Cohen), fall for each other. Rather than attempt a traditional union,...

Exclusive: UTA has signed director, writer and producer Jonah Feingold for worldwide representation in all areas.
Most recently, Feingold’s feature film debut Dating & New York premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival and has already been acquired by IFC Films for domestic distribution in fall 2021. Blue Fox purchased the international rights to the film, which Feingold wrote, directed and produced.
Dating & New York follows a budding app romance between two twentysomethings, played by breakout stars Jabuokie Young-White and Francesca Reale, against the backdrop of Feingold’s native New York City. Catherine Cohen, Brian Muller, Jerry Ferrara, Arturo Castro, Taylor Hill and Alex Moffat round out the cast.
As a lifelong fan of the pioneers of classic romantic comedies, Feingold invoked his own personal experiences and his generation’s challenges of dating in the modern era – where apps and cell phones make it both easier and more complicated – to make the film.

Two millennials in New York City form a friends-with-benefits contract … what could possibly go wrong?
The first trailer for “Dating and New York,” the movie version of the TikTok trend “two best friends in a room … they might kiss,” explores the trials and tribulations of romantic relationships in the age of read receipts.
The modern love story follows the perpetually single Milo (Jaboukie Young-White) and Wendy (Francesca Reale), who match on a dating app. Rather than ghosting each other or settling into a relationship, the two form a written agreement to hook up without feelings, one that will test the resolve of their otherwise seemingly perfect dynamic.
“This is going to end poorly for you,” Milo’s friend tells him.
For Wendy and Milo, their fate is decided when one of them catches real feelings, and they must figure out how to remain friends, knowing they love one another, or...

"Important question - what happens if one of you catches feelings?" IFC Films has debuted a trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Dating & New York, the feature directorial debut of NYC filmmaker Jonah Feingold after numerous short films previously. This already premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and opens in theaters + VOD this September. After an electric one-night stand, two dating-app-matched New York millennials draw up a "Best Friends with Benefits" contract to avoid the pitfalls of their past relationships – what could possibly go wrong? Rhetorical question, because every film that has ever tried to deal with this always gets back to the reminder that oh yeah, feelings will "ruin" everything. Or perhaps feelings are there to guide is in the right direction. Dating & New York stars Francesca Reale and Jaboukie Young-White, plus Jerry Ferrara, Catherine Cohen, and Brian Muller. This looks super adorable and cute and quirky,...

Intent on living up to its name immediately, “Bridge and Tunnel,” starts with a young couple bursting into a dingy bar bathroom to have reunion sex on the sink. Jimmy (Sam Vartholomeos) and Jill (Caitlin Stasey) split long ago in their short lives, after she identified that they were headed in opposite directions. Jimmy has a one-way ticket out of town, after landing a coveted photography job with National Geographic, while Jill is happy to bounce back and forth between their small hometown in Long Island and the big-city life in Manhattan, as she patiently figures out what’s next. But, as young love tends to do, their attraction brings them back together for one more night in the local tavern’s single occupancy bathroom.
Will they stay together? Will they break up again? Will they harbor minor or major regrets over whatever decision they ultimately make, only to look...

Edward Burns was only 12-years-old in 1980, so he doesn’t consider that decade to be one he experienced to the fullest at the time. Having some distance from the politics or harder events of the time period, though, makes him look back on it fondly as a simpler time, “the way you look back at an old photograph and think, ‘Oh that looks so nice,'” he says. That is what made it the perfect setting for his new Epix dramedy “Bridge and Tunnel.”
“I thought of this as, ‘You’re making “Downton Abbey.”‘ In no way was I trying to recreate the 1970s [or] 1980s, but look at it through the rose-colored, nostalgia look back,” Burns tells Variety.
“The time period that I’ve always been obsessed with is the late-’70s in New York: You’ve got the birth of punk and New Wave and hip hop; you’ve...
