Tommy Wirkola, the popular Norwegian helmer of “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” and “Dead Snow,” will be making his animation debut with “Spermageddon,” a humor-laced musical feature about the beginning of life.
Charades has boarded the project and will represent it in international markets.
“Spermageddon” follows two narrative threads — the emerging love story between two awkward teens, Jens and Lisa, who are having sex for the first time; and the eventful quest of Simon the Semen and his friends to reach the golden goal, the Egg.
“This is both a road movie and an epic adventure, a most incredible journey, much like Lord of the Rings. But instead of Orcs and elves, our heroes have to do battle with sperm-killing creams and e.Coli trolls,” said Wirkola in his director’s notes.
The project is described as being in the veins of “Sausage Party,” exploring mature content through comedy, creative animation and grown-up language.

There's a bit of a Norwegian super-team assembled for upcoming comedy Opportunity Knocks (Norske Byggeklosser) - the new remake of one of the all time classic local pictures. Dead Snow producer Kjetil Omberg, The Bothersome Man producer Jørgen Storm Rosenberg and Fatso / Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder helmer Arild Forhlich are behind this new version with Dag star Atle Antonsen starring (and starring and starring some more) in multiple parts. The plot line will call to mind 1986 Tom Hanks comedy The Money Pit for Us audiences, with its story of a couple inheriting a house badly in need of repair. The set up is a very straight forward one but the team behind the scenes here is anything but. We've been raging fans...

According to Deadline, the untitled project is a dark comedy based on "Hellfjord," a TV series Wirkola created, wrote and produced in his native Norway with Kjetil Omberg, Terje Strømstad and Stig Frode Henriksen. The seven-part "Hellfjord" screened at Fantastic Fest last year, where programmer Todd Brown described it as falling "into the sweet spot between 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Twin Peaks.'" Unorthodox policeman Salmander [who] is banished from the city to a fjord and the local county sheriff’s office, where he discovers a bizarre village full of quirky residents which may also be the gateway to hell.
Wirkola is, according to the Nfi, once again working with Terje Stromstad, Benedicte Aubert Ringnes and Kjetil Omberg, who together were previously been behind Kill Buljo and the aforementioned Dead Snow. He will head up the series, and reportedly direct the first episode.
Hell Fjord is set to begin shooting in May for an expected January 2012 broadcast.

What do you do if you're the producers of one of the biggest genre hits in your region's history? If you're the producers of Norwegian zombie comedy Dead Snow you bring back the whole crew that made that earlier effort so successful, pick another genre, recruit a few new faces - preferably specialists in the new playground - and you do it again, that's what!
Dead Snow producers Kjetil Omberg and Terje Stromstad are poised to release their latest effort, Tomme Tonner, on the world in January. And, yes, fans of Dead Snow, almost the entire cast have parts in the ensemble here - including an acting role for Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola - with regional favorites Kim Bodnia (Pusher) and Kristoffer Joner (Next Door) taking the leads. And who's that standing behind Bodnia in the poster? Yep, that's Slavko Labovic, who will always be known as that guy...

Goon over at Horror-movies.ca pointed out this bizzare musical tie-in for the Nazi-Zombie film Dead Snow.
Dead Snow producer Kjetil Omberg recently produced a music video for Norwegian glamor model/songstress Linni Meister, and while the clip starts off appearing to be a Britney Spears-esque bubblegum pop song accompanied by Nsfw visuals, they managed to drop in quite a few plugs for zombie flick that was recently acquired by IFC.
See the clip below, and hit Linni's blog for more details (if you speak Norwegian).
