When an experiment into a new source of natural fuel goes disastrously wrong, a rash of massive hurricanes rips across North America. A scientist, originally responsible for the design of the new power plant but who has walked away from the project, must get his family to safety before the hurricanes merge, creating a “hypercane” with the power to wipe America off the map.
A ridiculous plot, terrible CGI and a former Hollywood superstar slumming it with a bunch of B-list actors… Seems like a step back for mockbuster kings The Asylum if you ask me – especially when their recent films have see the company step up production values and storytelling to craft some great direct-to-market films.

Frank, the latest film from the supremely promising Lenny Abrahamson, is perhaps one of the most passive-aggressive films ever made. A film which brings people in with the promise of Michael Fassbender only to have him wear a giant Frank Sidebottom head throughout. A film which seems to have been given permissions and access by the oh-so-hip SXSW festival and the titan of social media, Twitter, only to have the film acidically mock and berate those who attend and use them respectively. A film that casts the likeable Domnhall Gleeson as our narrator through its crazy journey only to have him succumb to ever higher levels of being an awful human being, albeit one who feels like he could be just like many members of the audience (hey,...

Weird indie band experiments? Safe words? Michael Fassbender in a large papier-mâché head? It can only be Frank, and the frankly barmy first clip is online courtesy of The Playlist. With Fassbender choosing to obscure his mug in a Frank Sidebottom-alike head, the story, from The Men Who Stare At Goats’ Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan, finds Domhnall Gleeson playing Jon, who joins a band led by the eccentric Frank. Loosely based on comedian and musician Chris Sievey (with influences from Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart), Frank tells the story of a group who want to make some truly new music, and go about it in very strange ways. The film comes from Lenny Abrahamson, who last brought us What Richard Did, and promises to deliver much more madness than even the rest of the indie fare as it hits the Sundance Film Festival. With Scott McNairy, Maggie Gyllenhaal,...

We live in a world in which the next generation will never understand or get the concept of free love. In the Sixties and Seventies you could hump freely with pregnancy and minor Std's being your only worry. It's amazing how that generation has grown up into such stodgy old pricks with sticks up their asses.
In any event, on tap right now we have your first look at the Seventies / Eighties inspired flick Rabid Love directed and written by Paul J. Porter for Rogue Taurus Productions and Bar Productions in Association with Open Wound Films.
Director Paul Porter wrote in to let us know some pretty interesting news to boot!
"Rabid Love has secured U.S. Theatrical distribution" writes Porter. "This doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to go to just any theater and see the movie, but it does mean that we have signed a contract...
