This was a much better movie than I expected. I really did not read any reviews or see any trailers so I watched this movie without knowing what it was going to be about and was really surprised how much depth this movie ended up having. I found myself flashing back to my late teens / early twenties all throughout this soul-searching movie. This film brought back a flood of frankly bittersweet memories of that part of my life thanks to the excellent script and wonderful acting by all. The energy between all of these young adults was cohesive and at the same time crackling with tension, which is the heart of this movie. The main character, Richard, superbly played by Jack Reynor, gets himself into an incredibly difficult situation thanks to losing his temper and must then face what he has done. I will not give anymore away of what transpires in this fine Irish film by director Lenny Abrahamson. This film has been criticized by some for not having enough dialogue. I totally disagree. What is so refreshing about this film, as is seen in the majority of foreign films, is a lack of dependency on dialogue, essentially assuming that the viewer is smart enough to figure out what is going on. But alas (and quite sadly) U.S. movie-goers are all too often hooked on being spoon-fed a movie's plot and nuances via dialogue in the same manner as a toddler hooked on being hand-fed a bowl of Tater Tots by a parent.
