Keshet International (Ki) has completed high-profile licensing deals with WarnerMedia Latin America and Spain’s Filmin TV on “Pørni,” the heartwarming Norwegian comedy-drama created by and starring “Lilyhammer” actor Henriette Steenstrup.
Steenstrup, who won a Dragon Award at Goteborg Festival in 2020 for her performance in “Beware of Children,” stars in the bittersweet series as a middle-aged single parent of three teenagers.
The most-watched Norwegian Original series on Nent Group’s streamer Viaplay, “Pørni” screens next week at Series Mania 2021 in the Panorama competition. “Pørni” was previously part of the Berlinale Series Market Selects. Viaplay has ordered two more seasons of the show produced by Monster Scripted. Both seasons are set to premiere in 2022.
WarnerMedia Latin America acquired season one of the show exclusively for HBO Max. The WarnerMedia-owned streaming platform, which recently launched across 39 territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, has committed to picking up the second and third seasons of the popular show.

Nordic Entertainment Group (Nent Group) has renewed its hit Norwegian comedy-drama series “Pørni” for a second and third season.
Distributed by Keshet International, the comedy-drama was created by Henriette Steenstrup (“Lilyhammer”) who also stars. It launched on Nent Group’s Viaplay streaming service in May and scored the most successful premiere for a Norwegian Viaplay Original.
The two new seasons of the show will continue the bittersweet story of Pørni, a middle-age single parent who always puts others first – even though she wants more from life for herself.
“The reception so far has been incredibly good and then suddenly the idea of making more ‘Pørni’ became extremely frightening, but of course it’s very exciting too,” said Steenstrup, who won the Dragon Award at Goteborg in 2019 for her performance in “Beware of Children.” “Pørni” marks her directorial debut.

Keshet International has come on board as sales agent on the drama-comedy “Pørni.” The six-part Norwegian show, produced by Monster Scripted for Nent Group’s streamer Viaplay, is world premiering as part of Berlinale Series Market Selects.
“Lilyhammer” actor Henriette Steenstrup makes her debut as creator/writer on top of headlining the show. Gunnar Vikene (“Occupied”) and Charlotte Blom (“Next Summer”) serve as co-directors. The cast also includes Nils Ole Oftebro (“Mammon”), Gunnar Eiriksson (“Twin“), Johanna Mørck (“Trollhunter”) and Vivid Falk Berg.
Steenstrup plays childcare worker and single mum Pørni, who struggles to please everyone at home – her two teenage daughters, 15-year-old nephew and aging father – with no quality time with any of them. She also has to deal with a hopeless ex-husband and the loss of her sister who recently passed away. “ ‘Pørni’ is a drama about everyday dilemmas you find yourself in when, to the best of your ability,...

Troll Hunter is the monster mockumentary that turned heads for its amazing production on a comparatively small budget when it was released in the cinema and for advancing the “found footage” genre further on from other films of a similar vein.
In the film student filmographers Thomas (Glenn Erland Tosterud), Johanna (Johanna Mørck) and Kalle (Tomas Alf Larsen) are told by the local bear hunters that the mysterious man who seems to turn up at the increasingly frequent cattle killings must be a poacher and have something to do with the deaths of the bears that are being blamed for the attacks. The students pursue him and after overcoming his surly reluctance to cooperate he agrees to take them on his troll hunting missions.
They, of course, think he’s out of his mind to believe in trolls and his eccentric behaviour would seem to support that belief but after...

★★★★☆ Troll Hunter (2010) is a rare thing - a modern horror film which eschews visceral gore for subtlety and a genuine air of unease. Starring Otto Jespersen, Glenn Erland Tosterud, Johanna Mørck and Tomas Alf Larsen, Norwegian director André Øvredal's debut feature was a smash hit at last year's Film4 Frighfest. Watching it now on DVD, you'll understand why.

Finally! A film about a person who tracks and kills jerks on internet message boards! It’s every blogger’s dream; at last – vindication! Wait… what’s that you say? Oh…
Finally! A Norwegian found-footage film about a group youths that get embroiled with a professional troll hunter! Posing as recovered documentary footage, Troll Hunter concerns a trio of college students who film their pursuit of what they believe to be a bear poacher. Their dogged persistence in tracking him pays off when it turns out that Hans, the fellow in question, is actually a government sanctioned troll hunter, whose job is to research the beasts and kill them when they stray from their territory.

To mark the release of Troll Hunter on DVD and Blu-ray 9th January, Momentum Pictures have given us a copy of the movie on Blu-ray, a t-shirt and a poster signed by director Andre Ovredal and star Otto Jespersen to give away! We got to chat with Andre last year about the movie which you can see here. Troll Hunter stars Otto Jespersen, Glenn Erland Tosterud and Johanna Mørck.
This “original and highly assured fusion of B-movie lore and fairytale terror” (The Hollywood Reporter) combines the vision of “Where The Wild Things Are” with the faux-documentary, found-footage stylings of “Cloverfield”, “Rec” and “The Blair Witch Project” to produce an “enormously entertaining” (Variety) and suspense-filled creature feature that the Daily Star rated as ‘one of the finest monster movies ever” and Total Film described as being “like David Attenborough taking a stroll into Roald Dahl’s brain.”

The hills are alive with the sound of monsters in André Øvredal’s curious horror mockumentary, Troll Hunter. Here’s James’ review...
Much like the gang of students filming this odd, fantasy-tinged mockumentary, it’s hard to know what to make of director André Øvredal’s Troll Hunter.
A bizarre hybrid of The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, Hellboy and This Is Spinal Tap, the story follows a gang of three student filmmakers; Thomas (Glenn Erland Tosterud), Kalle (Tomas Alf Larsen) and Johanna (Johanna Mørck), as they attempt to make a documentary about a mysterious bear poacher known simply as Hans (Otto Jesperson).
Following him through the rural western Norwegian landscape, their attempts to interview the taciturn and evasive poacher are unsuccessful. However, after secretly following him to the site of one of his late night hunts, the students soon discover the truth about Hans’ secretive nocturnal hunting trips.
It turns...

TrollHunter (Trolljegeren) is a genre that I don’t often see done well: self-aware horror-comedy. André Øvredal directs this mockumentary with Otto Jespersen as the Troll Hunter himself, Glenn Erland Tosterud, Tomas Alf Larsen, and Johanna Mørck. And if you can’t already tell, the film comes from Norway.
A group of young journalists are on a mission to investigate some bear attacks, but in the process discover a plot to cover up masses of trolls living in the forests. They are kept at bay from civilization by Jespersen, who decides to enlighten the crew to the ways of the troll, due to his increasing resentment of the government directing him.
When I was first shown the creatures, I felt a mixture of confusion and a little joy. These were actually very well-created CG monsters which looked like something out of Where the Wild Things Are. It perfectly describes the...

Norwegian import “Trollhunter” had the potential to be a surprise scarefest or a campy hoot. As it is, it falls somewhere in the middle, so it never quite achieves the screams or the giggles it should. Another “found footage” documentary-style thriller, the film focuses on a trio of college kids who tag along with a legendary bear killer because they sense something is amiss.
They’re right.
Writer-director André Øvredal’s debut feature is refreshing (while trolls may not be as sexy as vampires, or werewolves, or, hell, even zombies for that matter, at least they haven’t been done to death yet), and there are some amusing bits between the action sequences. (Turns out trolls can smell Christians. Why? Who knows?) But it’s just not thrilling enough,...

It’s no secret that The Troll Hunter, André Øvredal’s Norwegian found-footage mockumentary, was the film from this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival that I was most anticipating. Following Finland’s excellent Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale and off the back of King of Devil’s Island (review coming shortly), I hoped that these two Scandinavian successes might have rubbed off on Øvredal’s film. With critics already deeming it ”amazing”, I was positively rabid with curiosity.
Anyone under the impression that the found footage method had peaked with Rec and Cloverfield, or even earlier with The Blair Witch Project, will soon be eating their words with The Troll Hunter, which is a thrilling revival of the format that strikes a delightfully successful balance between ultra-low budget subtlety and Hollywood frills. Director André Øvredal has triumphed with a movie that delivers on just about every level.

I walked into Troll Hunter, aka Trolljegeren , expecting a campy, wacky bit of genre-bending silliness. I'm surprised and pleased to admit that it was a completely different experience that defied that expectation resoundingly. Because Troll Hunter, written and directed by André Øvredal, takes itself very, very seriously. Sort of. It's complicated.
At first glance, it's yet another entry in the found footage/faux documentary genre, one that has grown a bit tiresome of late. Yet it's done with a combination of biting wit and seemingly earnest, heartfelt sincerity that it's hard not to find the film compelling. Troll Hunter starts off as three amateur documentarians, Thomas (Glenn Erland Tosterud), Kalle (Tomas Alf Larsen) and Johanna (Johanna Mørck) are trying to find the source of a series of bear attacks and deaths. Along the way, they stumble upon Hans (Norwegian comedian Otto Jespersen), a man reputed to be a bear poacher,...

All governments of the world have secrets.
Such secrets will vary strongly from the fabulously dull to the fantastically strange. How strange? Well, it might be a fancy new organic-based spaceship that's powered on human brains, an ancient arcane device that can be used to summon the great hoary lord of the infernal abyss, or it just may be something like, I don't know, maybe…
Troooooooooooooll!
A small group of students venture out into Western Norway, intent on creating a student film documentary on reported occurrences of bear poaching in the region. The team manages to get on the trail of Hans (Otto Jespersen), who's strange comings and goings has put him under suspicion by the locals of being involved in a recent string of illegal bear killings.
