Despite rarely being the main star, Charles has stayed relevant on screen, from his most known character in The Good Wife to his newest endeavor, FX's The Veil. Some of his earlier work should be on everyone's must-watch list.

The We Own This City series on HBO was written by David Simon and George Pelecanos who also worked on The Wire TV show together. While that beloved Baltimore-based series ran for five seasons, We Own This City appears to have been designed as a single-season mini-series of six episodes. However, if it's successful enough, could this new show still be renewed for a second season? Could there be more story to tell? Stay tuned.

When depicting corruption and malpractice on a wide scale, as perpetrated by members of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, there’s a key question of framing. Particularly in a dramatic retelling, leading up to the 2017 arrests and eventual prosecutions of multiple members of the specialized plainclothes police division, “We Own This City” is careful about who gets the lion’s share of the attention and when they get it.
It would be simple for series creators David Simon and George Pelecanos to present their adaptation of Justin Fenton’s book as a six-episode origin story of a mistake, to track Sergeant Wayne Jenkins (Jon Bernthal) from his early days onward, as he ascends the ranks of the Bpd and assumes the top post at the Gttf. But it’s telling that “We Own This City” instead takes a more circuitous, non-linear approach. Viewers aren’t being...

Set to premiere Monday, April 25, the six-episode series is based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton. We Own This City chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force and the corruption permeating an American city where policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest dominated over actual police work. (Credit: Paul Schiraldi/HBO) Created and executive produced by The Wire‘s George Pelecanos and David Simon, the series also lists director Reinaldo Marcus Green, Nina K. Noble, Ed Burns, and Kary Antholis as executive producers. Meanwhile, Bill Zorzi serves as a co-executive producer. Written by Pelecanos, Simon, Burns, Zorzi, and D. “For All Mankind” will return for its third season on June 10, Apple TV Plus announced Monday.
Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, the critically-acclaimed science fiction drama imagines an alternate history where Russia beat the United States in putting a man on the moon first. As a result of this historical divergence, the space race between the two countries never ends, leading to a world where both nations have advanced moon colonies staffed 24/7 and the Cold War has led to much quicker technological advances. The series focuses on the exploits of the astronauts and staff of NASA in this alternate universe, delving into both their professional and personal lives.
The first two seasons of “For All Mankind” covered a span of almost two decades, starting in 1969 and ending in the late ’80s. Season 3 again jumps ahead into the early ’90s, as the space race expands to the exploration of Mars.

Twenty years after “The Wire” revolutionized the TV landscape, the team behind the critically acclaimed HBO series returns to Baltimore with “We Own This City.”
Based on true events and adapted from Justin Fenton’s non-fiction book of the same name, “We Own This City” is developed by “The Wire” creator David Simon and George Pelecanos, also a producer and writer on that series. The limited series, directed by “King Richard” filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green, premieres April 25 on HBO. The cast includes Jon Bernthal, Jamie Hector, Josh Charles, and Wunmi Mosaku.
“We Own This City” chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force (Gttf), where corruption ran rampant amid policies of drug prohibition and celebrated mass arrests in lieu of detective work.
The Baltimore Police Department struggled to respond to crime with meaningful police work in the 2000s, giving itself over to mass arrest and drug warring instead.

Season 1 of “Homecoming” is still the gold standard for podcast-to-tv adaptations. Next week, people involved on both sides of that process will try to capture the magic in audio form.
Below, you can listen to the trailer for the latest Spotify and Gimlet drama, “The Final Chapters of Richard Brown Winters,” starring Catherine Keener, Parker Posey, Bobby Cannavale, Sam Waterston, and Darrell Britt-Gibson. Written by “Homecoming” co-creator Eli Horowitz and “Sandra” writer Kevin Moffett, the new series not only shifts its gaze to a fictional author, it trades in an episodic structure for a feature-length audio tale.
The story follows a young fan (Britt-Gibson) on a quest to confront reclusive writer Richard Brown Winters (Waterston) about why he’s disappeared from the public eye for a decade. [Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for the “Fear Street” trilogy.]
Like any cinematic series hoping to keep going, the final film in Leigh Janiak’s “Fear Street” trilogy sets up for plenty more thrills and chills to come. While “Fear Street Part 3: 1666” ends on a high, as Deena (Kiana Madeira), Sam (Olivia Scott Welch), Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr.), Martin (Darrell Britt-Gibson), and Constance (Gillian Jacobs) vanquish an ancient evil, clear Sarah Fier’s name (and witchy past), and seem to make some pretty big inroads toward saving their long ill-fated hometown of Shadyside, a post-credits scene threatens that peace.
As the heroes celebrate and the credits spin by, we journey back into the local mall, site of so many of the film’s horrors and the group’s final stand-off, as an unseen pair of hands reach out to grab the spell book left behind by Sheriff Goode (Ashley Zukerman), one of the last descendants...

This article contains Fear Street Part Three: 1666 spoilers.
It never could be as simple as reuniting an ancient skeleton’s hand with its wrist, right? That became obvious last week when the Fear Street trilogy’s ostensible heroine Deena Johnson (Kiana Madeira) attempted to break the curse of Sarah Fier by attaching all missing appendages in the alleged witch’s grave… only to be warped to Shadyside’s early days in 1666.
Now in Fear Street Part Three: 1666, we’ve learned the full unholy breadth of Shadyside’s curse, as well as their sister township Sunnyvale’s good fortune—and it’s dark. Involving a perversion of all that is good(e), the curse that has taken so many beloved characters over the centuries turned out to be more twisted than perhaps anyone expected… but not for Sarah Fier, a victim of superstition and misogynistic zealotry. And in the end, Sarah got the last blood-curdling laugh.

Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy marks something of a first when it hits our screens this week, both for the streaming service and the horror genre. The three full length movies are released on consecutive weeks, starting this Friday, 2 July, so audiences will have to wait a week in between each of the stories set in 1994, 1978 and 1666. We sat down with the show’s director and stars to find out how they created the very distinct and frightening worlds of R L Stine’s best sellers.
In 1994, a group of teenagers find themselves involved in terrifying events, only to discover they’re the latest in a curse which has haunted their downtrodden town, Shadyside, for centuries. When they also find they could be the next targets, they delve into the town’s nightmare history to put a stop to years of terror and brutal murders.

Slanderous rumors to the contrary, Glenn Close says her show-stealing performance of Da Butt dance was not planned in advance, even if the comic bit immediately preceding the booty shake was scripted.
“I knew that Lil Rel was going to quiz me about Da Butt and all three guys helped me run through what I was to say,” Close posted on Instagram last night, referring to her Oscar tablemates Chris Terrio, Daniel Kaluuya and Darrell Britt-Gibson. “Darrell insisted that I mention the Backyard Band, on top of E.U., Suga Bear and the whole Dmv.
“I had googled ‘Da Butt’ and watched Spike’s music video so when Lil Rel asked if I could do the dance…you can actually see me think of the video. That part was completely spontaneous. Daniel, Darrell and Chris egged me on!!! It was All their fault.”

Anyone who has ever seen Darrell Britt-Gibson’s work would probably agree that he doesn’t always get the credit he deserves. Not being recognized has never stopped him from giving it his all, though. Darrell made his on screen debut in 2006 when he joined the cast of The Wire. His role as Darius ‘O-Dog’ Hill helped even more doors for him and he has been acting consistently ever since. Recently, he has been getting a lot of attention for his role in the movie Judas and the Black Messiah. His effortless ability to keep people entertained certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed

When a dramatic feature film gets made out of an investigative magazine article, there’s usually some conventional heroic hook to it. But not always. “Silk Road,” written and directed by Tiller Russell, is
During the two years of its existence, Silk Road was an underground Amazon or eBay of drugs — a platform where dealers and buyers could find each other, which meant that you could order a nicely priced, vacuum-sealed package of cannabis or Ecstasy or pharmaceutical-grade cocaine and have it delivered to your door through the U.S. Postal Service. The person who dreamed this all up, and ran the site under the cult-like pseudonym of the Dread Pirate Roberts, was Ross Ulbricht, a 26-year-old libertarian gadfly from Austin, Tex., who convinced himself that by creating an underground marketplace for illegal narcotics, he was striking a blow against the system.

A narration opens Tiller Russell’s Silk Road. A young man in a hoody, shades, and flip-flops walks San Francisco’s streets and discusses the barriers between the world as it is and the world that he wants. The world he wants is one of total autonomy and freedom from government control. “Every action we take outside government control strengthens the market and weakens the state,” he says. As a result, and as a way to “take back our liberty,” he creates Silk Road, a website where anyone can buy and sell anything anonymously. The film follows a naive, bright-eyed libertarian and the creation of the biggest online marketplace of illegal goods, the notorious criminal named Dread Pirate Roberts he becomes, and the subsequent investigation by law enforcement that follows. As David Kushner writes in the Rolling Stone article the film is based on, Silk Road “made Ross Ulbricht one...

Ross Ulbricht (Nick Robinson) wanted to change the world. And he did. Whether you believe it was for the better (bringing the Dark Web and Tor into the mainstream via his anonymous marketplace Silk Road) or worse, the infrastructure he utilized coupled with the advantages afforded by Bitcoin ignited a firestorm of possibilities. Because at the center of it all was a desire to adhere to a Libertarian set of philosophies that shook the system and evaded the state. That the story has subsequently been reduced to “drugs-by-mail” is thus as much an in-road towards entertaining drama as a smokescreen away from governmental overreach.

"This guy's the first Millennial gangster." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for a movie called Silk Road, telling the rise & fall story of the founder of the infamous darkweb drug website called "Silk Road". This hasn't premiered at any film festivals and is heading straight to VOD in February for any curious to watch. Philosophical 20-something Ross Ulbricht creates Silk Road, a dark net website that sells narcotics, while DEA agent Rick Bowden goes undercover to bring him in. Nick Robinson stars as Ross, who values freedom above all, and Jason Clarke co-stars as the DEA agent. It's a back-n-forth story about the two and how similar they are. Also starring Katie Aselton, Jimmi Simpson, Daniel David Stewart, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Lexi Rabe, Will Ropp, with Paul Walter Hauser, and Alexandra Shipp. I really wish this looked better than it does; it's a cool story to tell, but this seems...
