We may know where Peter was headed when he jetted off in the Season 1 finale of The Night Agent.
Filming has begun on the second season of Netflix’s hit thriller drama, with the streamer’s start-of-production announcement unveiling that shooting of the new season will take place primarily in New York City with additional filming in Thailand and Washington D.C.
Season 1 of The Night Agent was set in and around Washington D.C. and filmed in Vancouver.
Given that we last saw Peter (Basso) taking off from D.C. in a private jet on his first mission as a Night Action spy, it is safe to assume that he is going to Thailand or a nearby country. That would answer one of the finale’s biggest questions.
Other major questions The Night Agent showrunner Shawn Ryan expected the show to address in Season 2 back in March include, What does it mean that Peter would be a night agent? Now that Rose is going back to California to try to restart her tech career, where does that leave Peter and Rose?
Season 2 also is moving the center of the action from the nation’s capital to the Big Apple as the series is rewarded for its big success in Season 1 — which ranks as the sixth most popular season of an English-language series on Netflix — with more expensive filming locations.
Basso and Luciane Buchanan return alongside previously announced new cast members Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears.
The Night Agent is on a very tight schedule as Netflix announced last week that Season 2 will premiere in 2024. Getting a 10-episode season of an elaborate action drama series ready before end of the year will be a major feat, especially given the fact that series on a global streamer like Netflix take longer to release because they also have to undergo dubbing/subtitling for the various territories.
The Night Agent is a character-based, action-thriller whose first season centered on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads to the Oval Office.
The series is created, showrun and executive produced by Shawn Ryan through his MiddKid Productions banner. David Beaubaire, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Marney Hochman, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, James Vanderbilt, Paul Bernard and Munis Rashid also executive produce. The Night Agent is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

The Burial tells the story of funeral home owner and former politician Jerry O’Keefe (Tommy Lee Jones) and his case against the Loewen Group, spearheaded by flashy personal injury lawyer Willie E. Gary (Jamie Foxx). The film, based on a real case in Hinds County, Mississippi, in 1995, is the sophomore narrative feature from Maggie Betts, with a screenplay by Doug Wright and Betts.
O’Keefe is the father of 13 children with 22 grandchildren and a mountain of debt he’s been hiding from everyone, including his wife (Pamela Reed). And at his age, his focus is on securing his legacy to make sure his large family is taken care of after he’s gone. Though he owns multiple funeral homes, debt has forced him to sell. His attorney and friend Mike Allred (Alan Ruck) sets up a meeting with Raymond Loewen (Bill Camp), the billionaire owner of the Loewen Group, who...

While it’s easy to imagine lawyers screaming “objection, your honor!” to the exaggerated courtroom theatrics of “The Burial,” good luck convincing audiences that this David v. Goliath legal showdown between a small-time Southern funeral home operator and an unethical Canadian billionaire should have played out any other way. Demonstrating talents far beyond her 2017 indie debut, “The Novitiate,” director Maggie Betts has a rousing old-school crowd-pleaser on her hands with this truth-based (albeit strategically embellished) drama featuring the most entertaining performance yet from Jamie Foxx, who makes a day in court feel like going to church.
Foxx plays Willie E. Gary, a Southern Baptist personal injury lawyer who channels the spirit of evangelical preachers every time he practices law — hardly the counsel you’d expect to see representing Jeremiah “Jerry” O’Keefe (Tommy Lee Jones), a 75-year-old business owner in Biloxi, Miss. But then, that unlikely partnership between a charismatic...

The Burial is a not-so-great title; it sounds like a horror film. I hope it doesn’t keep people away from this highly entertaining, crowd-pleasing movie that otherwise is an example of what good old fashioned Hollywood filmmaking can still be all about in the right hands. It feels bigger than life, but it is based on some pretty big lives indeed.
This lively courtroom true story has taken awhile to get to its closeup. Inspired by a November 1999 New Yorker article by Jonathan Harr, The Burial, which provides choice lead roles for Oscar winners Tommy Lee Jones and Jamie Foxx, has taken a long circuitous route to production. Directors like Jonathan Demme and Ron Howard were in and out along the way until it finally wound up in the hands of Maggie Betts, best known for 2017’s wildly different religious drama Novitiate.

Since the network announced that the freshman cop drama was canceled, fan groups have organized petition signing and social media campaigns to save their beloved show.

Despite a sizable outcry from devoted fans, East New York ended its one-season run on CBS Sunday.
The Warner Bros. TV series from creators William Finkelstein and Mike Flynn wrapped with a sentimental gathering of its leads having one last drink together — Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood (the terrific Amanda Warren), Assistant Chief John Suarez (Jimmy Smits), Det. Crystal Morales (Elizabeth Rodriguez), Det. Tommy Killian (Kevin Rankin), Officer Brandy Quinlan (breakout Olivia Luccardi), Officer Marvin Sandeford (Ruben Santiago-Hudson), Officer Andre Bentley (Lavel Schley) and Capt. Stan Yenko (Richard Kind).
Yenko gave a toast to Haywood, who thanked her for bringing him back onto the force where he “came to love it all over again.” His words brought Haywood to tears.
The episode wrapped up a double homicide from the previous episode in Ruskin Gardens, where Quinlan had been living as part of Haywood’s unique initiative to have officers live in crime-ridden areas.

East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show's studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren't going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Padilla has been a rising star at the agency, where he started as an agent in 2011. Padilla began his agency career at ICM where he trained under agent Toni Howard before being promoted in 2007 in the Motion Picture Talent Department. He also had a stint at Greene & Associates Talent Agency before joining Buchwald. Padilla began his career in casting at Cfb Casting.
Padilla has built a roster of clients that includes Essence Atkins (Untitled Wayans, Marlon), Rachel Blanchard (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Neil Brown Jr., Jake Cannavale (The Offer), David Castañeda, Matt Cedeño, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Kimberly Hebert Gregory (Vice Principals), Tim Jo (Reasonable Doubt), Marvin Jones, Richard T. Jones, Poppy Liu, Louis Ozawa, Dar Salim (The Covenant), and Amanda Warren (East New York).
Kammer joined Buchwald at the top of 2021 after a 16-year run at TalentWorks, where she served as VP of Talent. Kammer began her agency career at Coast to Coast Talent Group followed by Gersh, and then eventually joined TalentWorks as an agent in 2005, two years after its launch.
Kammer’s client list includes Fernanda Andrade, Ray Cham (Sort Of, The Big Leap), Amanda Crew (Silicon Valley), Matthew Del Negro, Simone Joy Jones (Bel-Air), Parveen Kaur (Manifest), Jason Lee, Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Ravi Patel, Tamara Podemski, Judy Reyes as well as Ted Field and his Radar Pictures.

Their promotions are a direct reflection of their consistent and ongoing commitment to hard work, collaboration, and leadership. One of the most exciting and gratifying components of our continued evolution is getting to acknowledge those who make an extraordinary contribution to our growth and success. In elevating them, we elevate the company,” said Julia Buchwald and Ryan Martin in a joint statement.
Buchwald recently upped Rob Kim to its management team as co-head of the agency’s west coast office, where he serves in this position alongside Ryan Martin and Julia Buchwald, who also serves as the agency’s president.

It was good news-bad news day for CBS drama viewers yesterday. Fans of S.W.A.T. rejoiced when the network reversed its cancellation decision and renewed the veteran procedural for a 13-episode seventh and final season. But that tipped the scale for another CBS cop drama, freshman East New York, which was canceled shortly after. And in a case of bad timing, by being axed during a writers strike, East New York is far less likely to get a reprieve.
While not as established as S.W.A.T., East New York, starring Amanda Warren, has developed a loyal following, and its cancellation has sparked a backlash, especially in light of the fact that the cop show drew bigger linear numbers than two other CBS drama series that have been renewed for next season, fellow freshman So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas, both of which come from CBS’ sister studios CBS Studios.

CBS is preparing for its upfronts presentation on Wednesday by announcing the fate of two of its bubble dramas.
East New York and True Lies have been canceled after their freshman seasons and will wrap up for good this month.
The Amanda Warren-led East New York ends its run on May 14, while True Lies will follow on May 17.
Out of the two, East New York was the only one that really had a chance at renewal.
East New York is currently averaging 6.8 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the demo with a week of DVR playback factored.
The numbers are on par with S.W.A.T., which was canceled on Friday and picked up for a surprise seventh -- and final -- season on Monday evening.
East New York hailed from Warner Bros. Television, which complicated a renewal as CBS has been tightening the budgets for much of its series.

Not all the news coming out of CBS today is good news: After reversing its decision to cancel S.W.A.T., the Eye network has cancelled freshman dramas East New York and True Lies, TVLine has learned.
East New York starred Amanda Warren as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, who ran a police station in a working-class Brooklyn neighborhood. The newly promoted Haywood faced resistance from veteran officers and detectives who didn’t like the changes she was trying to make. Jimmy Smits co-starred as Haywood’s mentor John Suarez. Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Lavel Schley and Olivia Luccardi led the supporting cast.

CBS has canceled both the police procedural “East New York” and “True Lies” after just one season.
According to sources, the decision to cancel the series came down to CBS haggling with the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television over the show’s budget, which included CBS asking that the cast of the show not get the customary pay increases going into the second season. It has previously been reported that CBS has renewed other shows on its lineup, like the comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola,” after asking the cast to take pay cuts or by shifting series regulars to recurring status.

CBS has canceled cop drama East New York, starring Amanda Warren, after one season.
The decision comes after CBS today reversed its Friday decision to cancel S.W.A.T., renewing the veteran drama for a 13-episode seventh and final season.
It also follows lengthy renewal negotiations between the network and East New York‘s lead studio, Warner Bros. Television. In addition to the inevitable squabbles over budget, there was an additional business issue that complicated talks. As Deadline reported, it had to do with additional streaming rights CBS had requested that go beyond the now-standard stacking, which allows networks to stream current season of their series on their digital platforms.

CBS’ 2023-24 season is starting to come into focus.
The network has opted to cancel its last two remaining bubble shows, True Lies and East New York, both of which ran a single season. True Lies, a reboot of the film of the same name, will air its series finale May 17, while procedural East New York will wrap May 14.
Reps for CBS declined comment.
The decisions come as CBS is poised to announce series orders for the upcoming 2023-24 broadcast season on Tuesday, with its fall schedule set to be announced Wednesday. For the first time in recent memory, CBS and parent company Paramount Global backed out of its traditional upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers with that slot now occupied by Netflix.

Talk about a bombshell revelation!
Regina has long known that something bad went down at the 7-4 when her father was on the job, but she didn't expect him to be indicted for murder.
The final moments of East New York Season 1 Episode 17 left her shocked, numb, and unable to keep her weekend plans with Sean. And that was after working on a heartbreaking case.
The case itself was a masterclass in what happens when you keep secrets. Tyrell Booker was dead because his wife had cheated on him and kept her older son's true parentage a secret.
Mrs. Booker and her other son, Darnell, both believed that Tyrell Jr not being biologically related to Tyrell Sr didn't matter. That was a commendable attitude; loving interactions make a family far more than biology does.

Third in a series on broadcast network series renewals. It’s been more than a month since the most recent CBS scripted renewals, of NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas. The three dramas that were left out at the time — Blue Bloods, S.W.A.T. and East New York — remain in limbo, joined on the CBS bubble list by new midseason drama True Lies, which debuted March 1.
Business issues have been major factors in the renewal prospects for veterans Blue Bloods, currently in its 13th season, and S.W.A.T., now in its sixth season, as well freshman East New York, I hear. Amid overall decline of linear ratings, it has become common practice for broadcast networks to ask for financial concessions on long-running series, which naturally become more expensive as they age.

On February 1, the American Heart Association had its annual Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection concert to raise awareness about heart disease. Along with musical performances, celebrities modeled red dresses at the runway show.
Amanda Warren, 40, who starred in Gossip Girl, wore a red v-neck dress that accentuated her waist. Her makeup and accessories were very subtle for the event.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Warren stressed the importance of women’s health.
“My message to women regarding our health is to just take care of yourself, take after yourself and Google things and see what’s what,” she urged. “And when you have more questions try to find your nearby health clinic, a community clinic where you can talk to someone, maybe your nearby pharmacist. Just make sure that you’re taking care of yourself, if you don’t feel well, reach out and be aware. And just,...
