"Make sure you're buckled up back there!" Amazon has launched the official trailer for On a Wing and a Prayer, based on a true story about a scary flying incident. "Experience the inspirational true story this Easter weekend." It's only rated PG and of course involves a little bit of "prayer" making it the perfect Easter release in America. Though apparently it will be skipping theaters and showing directly on Prime Video for streaming throughout April. After their pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight, Doug White has to safely land a small plane and save his entire family from insurmountable danger. They are flying in a tiny King Air 200 twin-turboprop plane, which is a different experience than most big commercial airliners. Dennis Quaid stars as Doug, with Heather Graham, Jesse Metcalfe, Jessi Case, and Abigail Rhyne. This film looks extremely cheesy and formulaic, but it's the kind of "believe in hope" true...

Exclusive: HBO Max has rounded out its cast of series regulars for comedy pilot Wild Life, which is fronted by Izabella Alvarez in the role of Ciara.
The cast includes Nadine Velazquez (Queens), Annie Funke (The Offer), Nabeel Muscatwalla (Good Trouble), Ava Lalezardeh (The Pursuit), Brielle Barbusca (Young Sheldon), Cyrus Arnold (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Jessi Case (Mother’s Day), Chrystal Campbell, and Beau Minnier.
From writers and executive producers Jason Ubaldi, Chris Peterson, and Bryan Moore, Wild Life follows a diverse group of high school teens who are struggling with personal and social issues who spend their school hours working at the local animal rescue as part of an alternative educational program.
While comedy comes from their quirky offbeat personalities and the unique setting of “high school at the animal rescue,” the series also will have heart as working with animals helps them deal with their personal issues with friends and at home.

"I know you're scared, so are we..." Epix has unveiled the trailer for a film called American Refugee, the latest from filmmaker Ali LeRoi, who last made The Obituary of Tunde Johnson. This is actually a made-for-tv movie, produced by Blumhouse Television, and kind of looks like The Purge meets a zombie movie. A family seeks shelter in a neighbor’s bunker, while the American economy is in collapse and the nation under martial law. There, they find the danger inside is potentially greater than the danger outside. Starring Erika Alexander & Derek Luke, with Sam Trammell, Zamani Wilder, Jessi Case, Vince Mattis, Charity Jordan, and Peyton Jackson. This all looks so obvious and cheesy. As much as this kind of story is worth telling (also see: New Order), this is an uninspired way to talk about survival in America. Meh. The whole "the real threat is not from the outside,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Defending Jacob,” streaming now on Apple TV Plus.
William Landay’s 2012 novel “Defending Jacob” never definitively answered whether or not the titular character committed the crimes of which he was accused, but it did provide a close-ended story for the teenager, who was killed in a car crash his mother caused. Mark Bomback’s limited series adaptation for Apple TV Plus left even more open to interpretation.
Laurie Barber (played by Michelle Dockery), wracked with nerves and fear that her son may have actually stabbed his classmate to death, sped down a slippery road and crashed the car that carried her son Jacob (Jaeden Martell) as a passenger. But in the show, both of them lived, even if they were both a little worse for wear. She suffered a head injury and some memory loss of events of that day,...

Sappiness overflows in Mother’S Day, an assembly-line rom-com with little on its mind beyond clichés and predictable formula. 81-year old director Garry Marshall, still mining the calendar after the similar New Year’S Eve and Valentine’S Day, has gathered a bouquet of celebrity movie stars including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, and Kate Hudson, and shuffled them into tiresome skits about motherhood gone right and wrong. Mother’S Day is a shallow and sickly-sweet offering best avoided.
Jennifer Aniston has the largest role in Mother’S Day as Sandy, a divorced mother of two sons whose ex-husband Henry (Timothy OIyphant) has married the much younger Tina (Shay Mitchell), who tries too hard to be a cool stepmom. The story jumps between Sandy’s dilemma and those of a dozen others, such as childless Miranda (Julia Roberts), an uptight QVC superstar who has motherhood forced on her by...
