X-Men is one of the most favorite superhero teams. The team’s adventures have been adapted into several series and movies over the years. The first attempt at an adaptation was made in 1989 with X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men. However, the show was not picked up for a second season.
A still from X-Men: The Animated Series
A second attempt at adapting the mutant superhero team’s adventures was made a couple of years later; X-Men: The Animated Series debuted in the U.S. in October 1992. The show was a hit with the fans and was aired for 5 seasons.
Much to the delight of the fans of the superhero team, the epic show was revived decades later. However, this new show, known as X-Men ’97, has deprived everyone of the one character that the 1992 show worked so hard to perfect.

This was the year that San Diego Comic-Con was supposed to collapse. After all, with Hollywood studios pulling out and stars not able to promote their work, all due to the double whammy of the actors and writers strikes, why would people even bother to attend?
Well, about 150,000 attendees did, indeed, show up. There were no mass hotel cancellations nor mass refunds issued for badges, which were purchased months in advance. And an interesting thing happened on the way to the Comic-Con apocalypse. There was a renewed focus on comics and other graphic arts, even as Hollywood showed up in a diminished capacity.
“This year, more than ever, it felt like the real focus was the talent behind the origins of a lot of their entertainment,” says Jimmy Palmiotti, a writer-artist who has worked for Marvel and DC and created the comic Painkiller Jane, which was adapted into a SyFy series in 2007.

Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection is an authorized documentary of The Rocketeer and its late creator, marking the 40th anniversary of the character's comic-book debut as a backup strip in Pacific Comics' Starslayer #2. Influenced by classic adventure serials, Golden Age comics, and 1950s pin-up Bettie Page, The Rocketeer was a retro-futuristic story of 1930s stunt pilot Cliff Secord who discovers a rocket pack.
The 99-minute movie features 35 interviews with friends, collaborators, and admirers including director Joe Johnston, whose 1991 Rocketeer movie prefigured the similarly styled Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Batman: The Animated Series creator Bruce Timm, Punisher actor Thomas Jane, and others.
Already filmed, the Kickstarter is purely to fund the physical release.
You can receive the Blu-ray with a pledge of $35 or more, and an exclusive Rocketeer one-shot comic is available for the higher pledges. This is based on an unmade comic-book script by the 1991 screenwriters Danny Bilson and...

DC of late have been putting out a lot of 80th Anniversary one off specials to celebrate some of their big name characters. They’ve been well received, and it seems Marvel wants some of that goodness too. Their approach, though, is pretty different. Whereas DC tapped some big names to do short stories for their issues, usually ten or so, Marvel here have decided to re-tell some of the big Captain America storylines from the past. We get the first ever Captain America story, from March 1941, in Captain America issue 1 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, plus the first Red Skull appearance from that same issue. How does one sit down and criticize the perfect show? The 2020 Emmys have been kind to HBO’s “Watchmen” and for good reason: showrunner Damon Lindelof and his team delivered an intricate and diverse superhero story that elevates the medium.

They have also thanked their producers, their fellow writers, their agents, the studio heads at HBO, and many more.
There’s just one name that they keep skipping over: Darwyn Cooke.
Lindelof and Jefferson have been awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Special with “This Extraordinary Being,” a solid mindbender that careens through the haunted past of a character named Hooded Justice. In this exclusive preview, the secret cabal ruling the universe decides on Krypton's fate.
I know we've talked about it before, but the best part of the Unity Saga, Brian Michael Bendis and team's first big Superman story (that really started back in Man of Steel but who's nitpicking), is how it's knitting together DC's big, weird, crazy space stuff. Something I've found really surprising since DC Universe hugely expanded its comic offerings was how vibrant the galaxy felt even 20 years ago - The Omega Men weren't always the fun-loving White Lantern-beheading space terrorists we know and love. Turns out they were part of a much larger and continually published comics ecosystem for a long time. An ecosystem that coexisted alongside the street level Batman books and the primary colors Superman/Wonder Woman stuff, and wove in and out of Justice League books.

A remorseless killer called Rogoal Zaar has arrived on Earth, bringing wide-scale death and destruction in his wake. Only Superman and his cousin, Supergirl, stand between Zaar and the completion of his mission – the complete annihilation of the Kryptonian race. But even as Kal-El and Kara struggle to contain this new existential threat, the Man of Tomorror faces a completely different challenge in his adopted home city of Metropolis, where Clark Kent still lives and works – but without his wife and son.

Earlier this year, the legendary actor and founders Matt and Navah Asner opened The Ed Asner Family Center, to offer a host of programs, classes and therapy dedicated to promoting self-confidence in differently abled individuals. They plan to open in their new location in November.

Being someone who’s covered conventions of varying sizes around southeast Michigan for the past five years, I’ve been clamoring for another big event aimed at the comic book crowd to come to Detroit. Like many of you, I feel that just one hasn’t been enough, and though the small and mid-sized shows are certainly lots of fun, there’s just nothing like a sprawling showroom floor populated by vendors, writers, artists and healthy amount of celebrities.
Well, soon enough, that’s going to change once the first ever Michigan Comic Con arrives in downtown Detroit this August, which is sure to satisfy our geeky needs for the summertime. And seeing as how it’s brought to us by the same folks behind Tampa Bay, San Francisco, Indiana and Atlanta Comic Cons, I think it’s safe to say we’re all in for a weekend to remember.

The year is 2134, and the legacy of Captain America lives on…not only shaping the future of the country, but the future of Steve Rogers’ family! This May, series writer Mark Waid will be joined by Leonardo Romero (Hawkeye) and a host of superstar guest artists such as Adam Hughes, Jg Jones, Chris Sprouse and Howard Chaykin, as Captain America’s storied history in the Marvel Universe is spotlighted in an all-new adventure told through the eyes of Steve Rogers’ grandson. But this seemingly perfect utopia isn’t exactly the America Steve Rogers dreamed of…
For the Promised Land storyline, because it takes advantage of the entire history and legend of Captain America, we deliberately constructed the issues to allow us to take advantage of contributions from special guest artists,” said Svp and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “So along with Leonardo Romero, who’s doing the backbone of the story,...
