Last year, New Regency went into production on a horror thriller called Psycho Killer, based on a screenplay written by Se7en scribe Andrew Kevin Walker. Gavin Polone, producer of Zombieland and the Walker-scripted 8Mm, was at the helm of the film, with Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) and Logan Miller (Escape Room) in lead roles and 6’5″+ former professional wrestler James Preston Rogers in the title role. The film has since made its way through post-production, and FilmRatings.com reports that it has officially earned an R rating for strong bloody violence, strong
sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and language. So this one is sounding quite promising.
Campbell is taking on the role of Jane Thorne, a police officer who makes it her mission to take down a serial killer referred to on the news as the ‘Satanic Slasher,’ following the murder of her state trooper husband.

Viola Davis is backing away from “G20” in a move that may put pressure on other A-listers.
The Egot winner says she’s stepping away from the project even after the film got the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement necessary to start production.
“I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike,” said the 57-year-old in a statement obtained by Et. “I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”
On Friday, SAG-AFTRA shared via its website that “G20” was approved for a waiver. Davis was set to produce and star in the film that secured the go-ahead from the actors guild, even given the involvement of Amazon Studios, because the project hails from the non AMPTP-affiliated MRC and will only be distributed by Amazon.

The Viola Davis-led action thriller film from MRC, with distribution by Amazon, “G20” will not move forward with production after it received an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA.
On Friday, the actors guild shared a list of projects that were able to continue production “without being in violation of the strike order” and have signed interim agreements with SAG-AFTRA to do so. On that list was “G20,” which Davis was tapped to to star in and produce. Davis and producers have no plans to move forward with production.
Developed with MRC Film, the Amazon Original feature will premiere on Prime Video, though a release date is unknown. Davis was set to star as Taylor Sutton, a U.S. president who must channel her extensive state leadership and military experience to defend her country when a terrorist group overtakes the G20 Summit. “The 33” filmmaker Patricia Riggen signed on to direct from...

Naomi Watts stars as an unsettling mother whose face is wrapped in bandages in the official trailer for Matt Sobel’s “Goodnight Mommy.”
A remake of the 2014 Austrian film of the same name, the horror movie follows two twin brothers, played by real-life twins Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti, who visit their mother after her recent reconstructive surgery. However, it quickly becomes clear something isn’t right with her.
Additional cast members for “Goodnight Mommy” include Jeremy Bobb, Crystal Lucas-Perry and Peter Hermann.
Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala wrote and directed the original 2014 film, which followed the same plot and was the Austrian entry for best foreign language film at the 88th Academy Awards but ultimately wasn’t nominated. The latest iteration of “Goodnight Mommy” is not the first time Watts starred in a remake of a foreign horror film, having previously starred in 2002’s “The Ring,” which was an adaption...

“Joey Morgan came into my life nearly 9 years ago when I made Scouts,” tweeted Christopher Landon, director of the comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. “He was quiet, funny, intelligent and thoughtful. “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” is getting a new cut for its home entertainment release, and the extended version of the horror film gives a peek behind the scenes at the masterminds who designed the escape room death traps.
The “Escape Room” sequel will be available for digital release and on DVD and Blu-Ray with an additional 25 minutes of footage on Sept. 21. Among the changes are an alternate beginning and ending that hint at the villains behind the curtain of the Minos Escape Rooms.
TheWrap has an exclusive first look at the additional scene that reveals a brand-new subplot that didn’t make the theatrical cut. Here we meet one of the apparent higher-ups at Minos as he converses with his game master — and prisoner — Claire, as she unwittingly helps them design a series of traps that can kill the hero, Zoey.

Ashley Benson, Shiloh Fernandez, Logan Miller, Frank Whaley and Jay Pharoah are starring in “Private Property,” a remake of the 1960 noir film of the same title.
The movie recently wrapped production in Los Angeles and was written, produced, and directed by Chadd Harbold. The original film, written and directed by “Outer Limits” creator Leslie Stevens, was out of circulation for 30 years and considered lost, until it was restored and re-released by Cinelicious Pics in 2016 to critical acclaim.
In the remake, Benson stars as Kathryn, a struggling actress and unfulfilled housewife who becomes involved with her new gardener Ben, played by Fernandez. As he gives her the attention and sensitivity she craves, they start to fall for each other. But, in true noir fashion, Ben is not all that he seems.
Benson is best known for her work in “Spring Breakers,” “Her Smell” and the teen mystery-drama series “Pretty Little Liars.

Escape Room: Tournament of champions is a sequel to the first movie, directed by Adam Robitel and released on June 16, 2021. The most exciting thing about this movie is that the title already gives the audience an obvious intention about what the characters should immediately do: Escape from a Room. If you loved the first movie, which was pretty unique and exciting to watch, you would surely like this sequel. It stars Logan Miller(Ben) and Taylor Russell(Zoey), who survived the first Escape Room. The other casts include Carlito Olivero(Theo), Indya Moore(Brianna), Holland Roden (Rachel), Thomas Cocquerel (Nathan), and Deborah

(This article contains only the biggest of spoilers for “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions”)
“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” is nothing if not very fast-paced — it’s a movie that simply refuses to let you ponder what’s going on, because before you’re able to process a character’s death, for example, the film has already moved on to the next thing.
The “Escape Room” sequel catches up with Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) more or less where we left them: trying to live their lives while dealing with the trauma of their experiences in the first movie. Zoey is seeing a therapist who’s trying to get her to overcome her fear of flying — and who doesn’t seem to believe her story about the escape room.
But Zoey wants to face her fears a different way: by exposing Minos, the nebulous organization behind the deadly escape rooms.

The company behind the so-called “escape rooms” of the Escape Room movies is called Minos. King Minos, the Cretan of myth, fed children to his minotaur as a matter of rite. So it’s no wonder that a company taking his name would be heavy on sacrifice, low on ethics, and altogether suspicious; it’s no wonder these games aren’t much fun.

Sony launched its horror sequel Escape Room: Tournament of Champions early yesterday at 3Pm making $1.2M in previews at 2,382 theaters.
What’s the comp here? Given the funkiness of the pandemic we can only look at recent genre stats, and the nearest title is Universal/Blumhouse’s The Forever Purge which did $1.33M in Thursday previews at 2,550 theaters from showtimes which started at 7Pm. Granted, Escape Room 2 is PG-13 and Forever Purge is R, respectively catering to two different demos: females under 25 and guys over 25. The only one of several same-titled movies in recent years to make a significant commercial dent, Adam Robitel’s 2019 “Escape Room” proved a considerable sleeper hit, making back many times its modest $9 million budget. Ergo “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions,” which brings back the first edition’s director, surviving characters and other elements in another primarily South Africa-shot U.S. production.
This follow-up immediately announces itself as aiming no higher than strict franchise “more of the same”-ness, beginning with a recap of prior events and ending with a de facto kickoff for No. 3. . But with breathless pacing its only real distinction, and zero attention to clever intricacies, character development or background mythology (evil corporation Minos remains a faceless off-screen blank), “Escape Room” is boxing itself into being one of the most charmless, least intriguing big-screen action franchises going.

As a huge fan of the first Escape Room, I had a really great time with the sequel, Tournament of Champions, which reunites survivors Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) directly after they survived the deadly games of the mysterious Minos organization. Instead of running, the duo decides to head to New York in search of answers and in hopes of bringing those at Minos to justice. But before they get too far in their investigative efforts, Ben and Zoey find themselves unexpectedly trapped in a new game, but this time not only are the rules different, but they’re also playing alongside other survivors of Minos’ previous escape rooms, too. And the clock is ticking, as they’re forced to decode new clues, avoid perilous traps, and withstand Minos’ tortuous games in this “Tournament of Champions.”

If you ever wondered what would happen if Walt Disney was also the Jigsaw Killer, then a) you are a very interesting person, and b) these “Escape Room” movies were made for you.
“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions,” the second film in Adam Robitel’s PG-13 horror franchise, solidifies the series’ mission statement to show off a deadly and insidiously complicated amusement park, where the theming is heavy-handed and all the attractions will kill you if you don’t interact with them exactly the way the designers intended.
These aren’t movies about protagonists undergoing a meaningful transformation. They are extended YouTube walkthroughs of the coolest places you’d never, ever want to go.
The original “Escape Room” saw a group of people drawn into a game constructed by the Minos Corporation. Each room they encountered had a different visual theme, and only by solving tricky clues could the heroes escape with their lives.

Back in January 2019, Escape Room became a breakout success at the box office, taking in more than $150 million worldwide. And now, fans won’t have to wait much longer for the follow-up effort from Adam Robitel - Tournament of Champions - as it is finally set to be unleashed in theaters beginning this Friday, July 16th, courtesy of Columbia Pictures. Picking up right where the original film left off, the sequel finds survivors Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) heading off to New York in search of answers as to just who was behind their terrifying experiences inside the series of escape rooms previously, and just why they were hellbent on leaving no survivors of the game in the first place. Of course, based on the usage of Tournament of Champions in the title, it should come as no surprise that Zoey and Ben find themselves in the midst...

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the Escape Room, the makers of the original film are back for a no-holds-barred sequel, and to celebrate the release, we caught up with some of the cast and its director to find out more.
Set a short while after the first film, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions sees Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) return to try to stop the evil Minos Corporation, who reply in kind by putting some new challenges in their way to stop them and some of the other survivors of escape rooms all across the US, with some even more elaborate and dangerous new puzzles to solve.
We spoke to Miller and new addition Holland Roden (Rachel) about the increased stakes of the sequel and their reactions to the designs of the new rooms, while director Adam Robitel tells us about the...
