Artist Kevin Kirkpatrick, who has worked on films like The Avengers, Sucker Punch, Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, must be a huge fan of the 1998 movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, because he's sculpted this spot-on recreation of Johnny Depp's twisted visage from the movie's poster. He talked about the project in an interview with Creators:
"I just wanted people to think about what it was they were looking at," Kirkpatrick says. "When I first made the piece, I posted photos and people would ask me why I posted a photo of the poster. It's not until they looked closer that they realized that it was a 3D art piece that they were used to seeing in two dimensions. I took on a challenge with a very limited time constraint, which quite nearly drove me crazy due to lack of sleep.

Sneak Peek some hideously realistic model images of the MTV cartoon characters "Beavis and Butt-Head":
The models were created by SFX artist Kevin Kirkpatrick ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides").
Kirkpatrick is an avid fan of the cartoon duo, that returned to MTV's new "Beavis and Butt-head"series.
Creator Mike Judge ("King Of The Hill") continues as the voice of both title characters.
Judge's short film "Frog Baseball" was the first appearance of "Beavis and Butt-Head" with MTV signing Judge to turn the concept into a series airing March 1993 to November 1997.
With its 'underground comix' sensibility, the show focused on two socially inept rock/metal-loving teenagers 'Beavis' and 'Butt-Head', who live in the town of 'Highland', Texas. They have no adult supervision at home, are woefully undereducated and arguably dim-witted.
They attend high school, where their teachers are often at a loss as to how to deal with them,...

Makeup artist Kevin Kirkpatrick is best known for his work on such films as "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "The Avengers." But when Kirkpatrick is not working on Hollywood movies, he's busy with his hobby, which is apparently to figure out how cartoon characters would look in real life. Today we have several photos of prosthetic models of Beavis and Butt-Head that he created. Click on the image below to see how the cartoon teenagers would look as real people. It's no surprise that they look creepy. And one can only imagine what other cartoon characters would look like in real life. Photos: (click to enlarge)...

Kevin Kirkpatrick, a make-up effects artist whose credits include American Horror Story and True Blood, has taken it upon himself to ensure sleep deprivation the world over. He's created these models of Beavis and Butthead as real human beings, and, well, if you haven't already recoiled with the closest stuffed animal in sight or scratched at your eyeballs, you are a braver person than me. Perhaps Kirkpatrick made these... um, treasures... in celebration of Beavis and Butthead's triumphant return last October. But dude, couldn't you have picked something a little less traumatizing? Like a cartoon face cake? (Delicious and non-threatening.) Let this be a preemptive warning to any enterprising make-up effects artists with nostalgia for Aahh!!! Real Monsters: I won't have it. I just won't. Really though, I'm not too upset about how unsettling these things are. I'm upset for another [...]...

Makeup effects artist Kevin Kirkpatrick ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "American Horror Story") recently decided to build models reflecting what animated MTV delinquents Beavis and Butt-Head would look like if they were actual people, because ... well, apparently because he hates us all very much and never wants us to sleep ever again. Also read: "Beavis and Butt-Head: 14 Great Moments to Welcome Them Back (Video)" The results would probably speak for themselves, if they weren't drowned out by the horrified screams of whoever gazes upon these images. Hopefully Kirkpatrick doesn't...

Not to be outdone by yesterday’s Rugrats trailer on Funny or Die, today’s entrant into the “When Good Cartoons Go Bad” file is makeup artist Kevin Kirkpatrick’s prosthetic models of Beavis and Butt-Head.
Click here for pictures but be warned, they are unsettling.
Obviously, cartoon characters don’t have to adhere to the conventional standards of human anatomy (I’m no scientist, but I’m fairly certain that Mr. Burns’ neck would not be able to support his head), but Kirkpatrick’s corporeal monsters creations are just natural-looking enough to put them right smack dab in the...

Uhhhh, what? So, Kevin Kirkpatrick, a make-up artist, made these prosthetic models of MTV’s titular animated series Beavis and Butthead. Huh-huh. You said “titular.” Kirkpatrick apparently made the models just to see what they would look like. And they look damn creepy, but in a really good way. To see these models in action would be something to behold. Kirkpatrick has an impressive resume, working on projects from American Horror Story, Abraham Lincoln:...

The 90's pop culture figures, which recently had a new MTV series spearheaded by Mike Judge, are given the real world treatment by Makeup Effects Artist Kevin Kirkpatrick (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides). Beavis and Butt-head is an American animated television series and movie created by Mike Judge that aired from March 8th, 1993, to November 28th, 1997. The show centers on two socially inept rock/metal-loving teenage boys, Beavis and Butt-head (both voiced by Judge), who live in the town of Highland, Texas. They seem to have no adult supervision at home, are woefully undereducated, and are arguably quite dim-witted. Although they are teenagers, they are young enough that they are barely through puberty. They attend high school, where their teachers are often at a loss as...

With the advent of computer generated imagery, you would think there would be no room left for make-up artists in the industry. I beg to differ. There is nothing better than old school techniques like filling a condom with blood to do a gunshot wound, or appliance work seen on the Syfy Channel reality show Face Off. Now try being a woman in a field dominated by males and it is even tougher to break through. Megan Areford has defied all those odds and has proven she is talented and will be around for a long time.
Jason Bene: Tom Savini will always be the “King of Splatter”. Being a Pittsburgh native yourself, how bad-ass was it to attend his school and learn from the master?
Megan Areford: It was great! I got to make a lot of friends there. The most I ever had. I don’t know how to say this,...

Anchor Bay Entertainment gave Fango the official word that it’s releasing Staunton Hill to DVD next month (see the cover art below). The movie, which streets October 6, was directed by G. Cameron Romero, son of zombie master George A. Romero.
Scripted by David Rountree (who also co-stars), Staunton Hill is set at the titular locale in the middle of a remote mountain area. A group of hikers arrive for a weekend jaunt and wind up on the Staunton family property—and needless to say, this twisted bunch doesn’t take kindly to trespassers, setting out to stalk and kill them. The junior Romero’s second fright feature after the as-yet unreleased The Screening, Staunton Hill also toplines Kathy Lamkin (Tea Lady from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and its prequel), Cristen Coppen, Kiko Ellsworth, Christine Carlo, Paula Rhodes, Charlie Bodin, B.J. Hendricks and The Funhouse’s Cooper Huckabee; the...

Finally, we take a breath, clear the cobwebs of mourning and peek out from beneath the shadows to find out how the late Forrest J Ackerman continues to do us good. At genre conventions from coast to coast, fans and friends pay tribute to the grand old man who made us monsters!
Ken-tucky? Yep, they Ken!
Any horror fan, young or old, who’s in it for the scare-making arts, crafts and monster makers, Must experience Wonderfest. I flew over the cool greenery and picturesque graveyards of Louisville, Kentucky to attend the first Con I’ve been to without Uncle Forry by my side. While most travelers rushed to the baggage claim to pick up luggage and trot off to watch horses run some derby, I was there for the monsters!
In its 20th year, Wonderfest is a gathering place for modelers. Make that “Super-modelers.” Builders, sculptors, painters, collectors, you name it!
