Taylor Swift and Martin McDonagh are birds of the same feather. Or so Variety would have you believe based on their decision to pair these two together for the yearly "Directors on Directors" series. And maybe they're onto something, here: I'm sure that if we really put our galaxy brains to work, we can probably draw some parallels between McDonagh's "Banshees of Inisherin" and Swift's "All Too Well" short film. For instance, both are breakup films! Both of them include scenic journeys through a gorgeous landscape as the backdrop for someone's emotional crisis!
Speaking of similarities, Taylor Swift is now on track to become one of McDonagh's contemporaries in the world of film directing. The singer-songwriter is set to make her feature directorial debut with a film produced by Searchlight Pictures.
Though she's provided zero details about the story or the specifics of the production, her chat with McDonagh...

God doesn’t take the stage until the second song in Roman White’s good-hearted summer camp-set Netflix musical “A Week Away.” His sudden invocation hints at a cheeky sense of humor about the whole thing that is sadly lacking from the majority of the movie. There’s nothing really sneaky about the white bread Christianity — pretty plain stuff about how God loves everyone and it’s nice to be kind to people — at the soul of White’s film, but the sudden mentions of God, the Bible, and salvation are first introduced with a winking nature that hints at a funnier, fresher feature underneath. Yet even as “A Week Away” wears its relentlessly optimistic and cheesy soul on its sleeve, it’s hard to dislike.

Say you’re a wild, wayward but ultimately gold-hearted teen who gets busted for attempting to steal a cop car, and your weary, exasperated but ultimately on-your-side counselor offers you a choice of correctional penalty: an extended spell in juvenile hall, or one summer of singing, swimming and mild soul-searching at a Christian youth camp. Which do you choose? If it seems a no-brainer, the achievement of “A Week Away” is to make us collectively wonder, after 90 minutes of aggressively wholesome hijinks, if juvie would be so bad after all. A purposeful, programmatic attempt by Netflix to encroach on both the faith-based market and the Disney Plus demo, this innocuous but character-free tuner shamelessly copies and crosses the formulae of “High School Musical” and “Camp Rock” down to the last, sequel-prompting detail.

A cloying new sub-Disney Channel teen musical, packed with unremarkable performances and forgettable songs, feels oddly of another period
A Week Away, Netflix’s High School Musical-style play for the contemporary Christian teen market, feels strangely unrooted from our timeline. The musical about a week at a Christian summer camp, directed by Roman White, is ostensibly set in the present yet transparently derives its musical and choreography cues from mid-2000s Disney projects like the aforementioned series and Camp Rock, and lead Kevin Quinn looks eerily like Zac Efron circa 2009. It’s a coming-of-age (and faith) movie in which there are barely any phones to be found.

Netflix continues to bet big on kids and family programming. The streaming service announced on Friday it optioned the rights to Annie Barrows’ illustrated children’s book series “Ivy & Bean” and plans to make them into movies.
The live-action films will be one-hour in length and geared toward family audiences. Kathy Waugh is writing the movies.
“With a one-hour run-time, the ‘Ivy & Bean’ film series will still very much be movies the whole family can enjoy,” said Netflix’s Director of Family Features Naketha Mattocks. “Safe, fun and elevated comedy-adventures, they also have the wonderful benefit of giving the youngest members of the family an opportunity to see themselves as the star of their own story.”
“Ivy & Bean” follows two unlikely friends — the loud and fearless Bean, and the thoughtful and quiet Ivy. Yet the two discover that an adventure can reveal that even seemingly different people can become the best of friends.

Then again, White has been down this path before (he directed the Biebs' "One Less Lonely Girl" video in 2009). So when it came time for him to shoot the "Mistletoe" video, he was ready — and appropriately tight-lipped.

Justin Bieber certainly has his romantic swag on full display in the video for "Mistletoe."
Whatever do we mean? Well, between the photo booth scene, the dress-buying sequence, picking up his girl in a very expensive vintage car and the kiss at a dance, it's hard for us to really not pine away about our first love when watching the holiday-themed clip. Bieber knows how to treat a lady. Selena, you got yourself a good one.
Director Roman White explained that a lot of the video was inspired by John Hughes movies from the past. And that inspiration is not on display more than about midway through the clip when Bieber picks up his lady love in his car. What kind of car? A vintage Porsche. No. Big. Deal.
Anyways, it's a full-on "Pretty In Pink" moment (Don't know what we mean? Go watch it and get back to us!

Lady Gaga just wrapped up production on her music video for "Judas." And while she's relied on the instincts of professional music video directors in the past, this time around the singer (along with creative director Laurieann Gibson) has decided to helm the video herself.
This isn't the first time, however, that Gaga has taken on a directorial role. She had a hand in her "Born This Way" video as well, enlisting her Haus of Gaga to co-direct the video along with fashion photographer Nick Knight.
Gaga is hardly the first pop star to direct his or her own music video. 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto acted as a director, under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins, for five of his band's clips. He even got the band a 2010 Vma for the "Kings and Queens" video.
Just last month, the Foo Fighters debuted their clip for "Rope," directed by frontman Dave Grohl.
