HBO is bringing back its most beloved, ultra-rich adult children fighting for their family business. I’m talking, of course, about the Gemstones.
Danny McBride’s absurdist megachurch comedy returns for Season 3 on June 18, as “The Righteous Gemstones” unveiled the first trailer for its next installment. If there were ever a story to file under “most bizarre creative decisions of television’s modern era,” it’d certainly be this one, as MTV has opted to scrap two years worth of continuity that they’ve established for their Scream series and move forward with a completely new direction in mind.
Now, there had been some whispers of this happening for some time, but that doesn’t make the confirmation any less shocking. Last year, it was announced that the show would return for a third season, albeit a six-episode order. Still, that’s better than nothing, as not even the Halloween special wrapped things up and succeeded in only raising more questions.
That’s what makes this situation so baffling. I mean, why give a series the opportunity to give itself a proper sendoff, only to completely pull the rug out from under it? Needless to say,...

Audiences may not realize it, but Rough House Pictures has been a pivotal force in American filmmaking over the past decade.
People know Danny McBride as the snarky, self-aggrandizing star of HBO’s “Eastbound and Down” and “Vice Principals,” shows he created with fellow North Carolina School of the Arts alumni Jody Hill and David Gordon Green. But while McBride’s is the most public face, all three men have become influential figures in the film industry.
Green and McBride are writing the Blumhouse reboot of “Halloween,” while Hill is finishing his third film, a comedy starring Josh Brolin. Green has oscillated from the quiet, Southern gothic tales of “George Washington” and “All the Real Girls” to boisterous comedies like “Pineapple Express.” Hill’s debut, “Foot Fist Way,” got the attention of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, who launched Hill’s TV career and gave him the momentum to direct his first studio film,...

"Can you please look at me for a second, Pete?" The Orchard has released a trailer for a wacky, dark comedy titled Donald Cried, from writer/director/star Kris Avedisian. The film is presented by David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Danny McBride and Brandon James, which is a powerhouse comedy team-up. Avedisian stars as the titular Donald, a childhood friend of a man who returns to his hometown after his grandmother passes away. Awkwardness ensues, and things get a little fun. The cast includes Jesse Wakeman, Louisa Krause, Ted Arcidi, Shawn Contois, and Kate Fitzgerald. This played at festivals all over the world throughout 2016, so even though it may seem a bit weird, it's definitely a quality film worth your attention. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Kris Avedisian's Donald Cried, direct from YouTube: With sudden passing of his grandmother, Peter Latang (Jesse Wakeman) returns to his hometown and encounters his long lost,...

Who was killed off?
That was a key question on Scream Season 2 Episode 13 as the Lakewood Six decided that the best thing for them was to flee Lakewood as the anniversary of the murders rolled around.

So much for the Scream franchise finally leaving a killer alive. Kieran lasted all of about 30 seconds.
We still don't know who killed him, but we did get a fun Halloween special out of the deal.
Sure it was a little predictable, but there were some surprises, too.
Scream Season 2 Episode 13 felt more like a TV remake of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer than an installment of the Scream franchise.
The group was stranded on an island in a storm during the offseason, there was a fisherman, Gina arrived late just like Ray did, and shears are close enough to a hook.
It was clearly intentional, but you have to love that Noah referenced every movie from Friday the 13th to And Then There Were None with no mention of the franchise they were spoofing.
It's like the killer is combining these two legends into one brand new murder spree.

It’s no secret that I adore MTV’s Scream: The TV Series, as I recently prattled on about its virtues here. The second season recently wrapped up, and it was during the final Scream: After Dark (the chat/spoof show that airs right after each new episode of Scream) when we learned that all the Lakewood survivors would be reuniting in October for a very special Scream Halloween two-hour episode.
The special airs on Tuesday night (10/18) at 9:00pm Et, and for those of you who enjoy Scream: The TV Series, you should undoubtedly have fun with this special series event, as it does a great job of keeping the initial Scream storyline going, but also gives us a bit of a one-off storyline as well, just in time for everyone’s favorite horror-filled holiday.

The Lakewood slasher will be back for another season of slicing and dicing the teens of Lakewood.
That's right Scream Fanatics, the show has officially been renewed for a third season.
That means that next week's Halloween special will not serve as the conclusion to the series.
Scream Season 2 ended with the reveal that Kieran was the second killer.
It was not the most surprising of twists, but it paved the way to change things up for the struggling series.
Audrey and Emma finally managed put the past behind them and moved on with their lives.
There was a little hint that the two of them could be in a relationship, but we'll need to tune in to find out.
The Halloween special picks up eight months after Kieran being exposed as the killer.

Even the best television characters can be morally bankrupt. They can do the most despicable things, yet we still like them for some reason.
Maybe it's all the drama they cause that makes their presence so much more addictive.
Regardless, most of these characters are not going anywhere, and there's a reason for that.
Have a look through the gallery.
