Onyx Collective’s “Reasonable Doubt” has been renewed for Season 2 and will be bringing in Morris Chestnut (“The Best Man”) as a series regular, Variety has confirmed.
Chestnut will play charming, media-savvy defense attorney Corey Cash, whose client roster is typically full of underdogs. After bringing Corey in to help on a high-profile case, Jax learns he could threaten her standing at the firm.
The series follows Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney, Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) as she faces untapped trauma from her past, her struggling marriage, motherhood, and how she manages to juggle it all while maintaining her polished career. In addition to Corinealdi, Angela Grovey, Tim Jo, McKinley Freeman, Aderinsola Olabode and Thaddeus J. Mixson also star.

As the first series hailing from Onyx Collective, Raamla Mohamed’s “Reasonable Doubt” is helping the new production label define itself as a home for unapologetically Black storytelling.
Currently streaming on Hulu, “Reasonable Doubt” stars Emayatzy Corinealdi as L.A. criminal defense attorney Jax Stewart, who seeming has it all –– a devoted husband, two growing children, a well-paying job, and a group of friends that support her through her highs and lows. But what bubbles beneath the surface of her impressively primped exterior (completed with a variety of hairstyles ranging from sleek to coiled) is a messy underbelly of questionable ethics in and outside of the courtroom as well as a pension for shade-throwing.
Corinealdi says the nuance of her character is what drew her to the project. “We all have these different layers,” she said. “And we don’t always get to see those played out on TV, especially with black women…...

Reasonable Doubt begins in outrageously dramatic fashion, with protagonist Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) tied to a chair and pleading for her life at the barrel of a gun. The episode that follows continues along a similarly soapy vein: After rewinding six months, the show introduces a trio of love interests for Jax to play with and a splashy murder to untangle, setting us up for a season of steamy trysts and rug-pulling reveals.
But anyone who’s suffered through a mediocre thriller knows that bombshell twists alone aren’t enough to hook an audience if the people onscreen otherwise fall flat. Thankfully, Reasonable Doubt — which was created by Scandal vet Raamla Mohamed and boasts a premiere directed by Scandal star Kerry Washington — fares better than plenty of other would-be watercooler shows in that regard, grounding its drama in enjoyable characters, believable relationships and...

The legal drama hails from writer/executive producer Raamla Mohamed (Scandal); executive producer Kerry Washington, who will direct the first episode; and ABC Signature.
In Reasonable Doubt, you’ll judge Jax Stewart (Corinealdi) for her questionable ethics and wild interpretations of the law… until you’re the one in trouble. Then you’ll see her for what she is: the most brilliant and fearless defense attorney in Los Angeles who bucks the justice system at every chance she gets.

"The answer's not always laid out..." Rlje Films has debuted a new trailer for a mystery pandemic horror-thriller titled Terror Lake Drive, from filmmaker Jerry Lamothe. The film, originally created as a mini-series for the Urban Movie Channel (Umc) last year, is also being released in the US as one long (3 hour) feature film. In the midst of a recent pandemic and calls for social distancing, a single mother sets her sights on starting a new life and relocates to Atlanta, but quickly discovers she can't outrun her past. Of course. Starring Shannon Kane, Donielle T. Hansley Jr., Malik Yoba, and Lamaan Rucker. It's a bit odd to see this rebranded as a feature film in this new trailer, but it might play a bit better as one long film. Maybe? Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jerry Lamothe's Terror Lake Drive, direct from YouTube: On the heels of a recent pandemic,...

Shannon Kane (The Originals) and Perri Camper (The Bobby Brown Story) have landed recurring roles opposite Sinqua Walls in Bet’s upcoming drama series American Soul, based on the life and career of Soul Train creator Don Cornelius, from Jesse Collins Entertainment.
American Soul is described as an unflinching look at the entrepreneur Cornelius, his Soul Traindancers, crew and musicians in an unforgiving Hollywood in the 1970’s – how they work, play, rise and fall against the backdrop of Soul Train — “the hippest trip in America” and one of the most predominant television shows for African American culture.
Kane will play Ilsa Dejarnette, a beautiful, whip-smart, self-made entrepreneur. She is the lead attorney for a famous record label at the height of its power. Although not born into affluence, Ilsa is impeccably polished having attended the world’s best finishing school and Ivy-League institutions.

From the film's website: Both Charlie and Scott often feel out of place but during a brief encounter at their favorite coffee shop they feel as if they might have just met someone special. The Mikaelsons may have been in Celeste’s crosshairs, but someone else paid the ultimate price.
It’s official: Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has 99 problems, and witches are all of them! Celeste and her fellow death-cheaters put the Mikaelson family through hell on the Feb. 4 episode of The Originals, eventually resulting in the death of one of their closest allies. … Ok, fine, more like one of their closest frenemies.
A Moment Of Silence For Sophie Devereaux
Yes, in the final moments of this week’s nail-biting episode, Miz Sophie Devereaux (Daniella Pineda) found herself bleeding out on the city streets — and at the hand of her just-revived niece, Monique, no less! It seems Celeste’s coven is growing stronger by the day, which is why I’m counting down the seconds until Davina (Danielle Campbell) returns to take them out. Come on, you know that’ll happen eventually.

Shannon says Celeste has ‘unfinished business’ in the Quarter, and it all leads back to the fan-favorite twosome.
Sabine’s true identity is about to be unleashed on The Originals — actress Shannon Kane tells HollywoodLife.com that “everyone will get that memo … pretty soon” – but that’s only the tip of the iceberg for the big bad of the Big Easy. And, Fyi, Shannon says she was just as surprised as we were by Celeste’s game-changing reveal.
“They didn’t tell me until about four episodes in that I might be some sort of shapeshifter, or I might not actually be who I am,” she explains. “They were alluding to a lot, but didn’t actually pinpoint anything until they gave me the episode of Sabine coming out as Elijah’s ex-lover.”
Celeste’s ‘Agenda’ Will Target Both Elijah & Hayley

A most unwelcome face from Klaus’ past returns to New Orleans to raise a little (more) hell.
Terror, thy name is Papa Tunde! The Big Easy’s new big bad reared his not-so-ugly head on the Jan. 28 episode of The Originals, and no vampire was safe from his sacrificial wrath — least of all Rebekah (Claire Holt), who temporarily had her powers sucked out by the well-dressed warlock.
But wait, did I refer to Papa Tunde as the new big bad? What I meant to say was that Papa Tunde, with his ability to suck out vampires’ powers, was merely a pawn in Celeste’s (Shannon Kane) ultimate plot to claim New Orleans for herself. The final scene of the episode found her slitting P.T.’s throat, absorbing the powers of all the fallen supernatural creatures.
In other words, everybody’s screwed. Like, even more so than we already thought.

Break out your fanciest formal attire, because "The Originals" is throwing a ball.
Mind you, this isn't just any old ball. This shindig is thrown by the King of New Orleans himself, Marcel, and only vampires are on the guest list in episode 3, "Tangled Up In Blue." Too bad Rebekah takes matters into her own hands and gets human Cami on the guest list ... Marcel won't be too pleased about that.

If you reside in the Us then you're in luck because Marcus Dunstan ('Piranha 3Dd') and Patrick Melton's ('Saw 3D') horror follow-up to the gruesome home invasion thriller 'The Collector' hits theatres today. 'The Collection' opens today and sees Josh Stewart ('The Dark Knight Rises') reliving his nightmares experienced in the first installment and the opening 6 minutes of the movie has premiered online. I'm not sure how I feel about watching the opening minutes of any movie to be honest. I understand why its done but I always want to experience the whole movie from start to finish uninterupted on my own time, not pieces of clips or opening sequences watched out of order and leaving my overactive brain to piece it altogether before I've even sat in my cinema seat. But if you're intrigued enough then head below and check out the clip.

Nomad has written in with yet another description of some of the eye candy that was shown at this year's New York Comic Con. Read on to see what was on tap for the sequel to The Collector, Marcus Dunstan's The Collection.
Footage Description
Two girls and a guy walk down a glossy alleyway. The trio are dressed for clubbing but are draped in shadow. One of the girls mentions that the club is password only... the word being "Nevermore." Just then a door bursts open on the left and an industrial-style, heavily pierced man stands there glaring. The moment lasts a few beats before one of the girls steps forward, gathers her courage and says "Nevermore." The man raises his hand and triggers a metal door to their right and music is heard from within. The door attendant heads back behind his door and the trio enter the club.

With the Screamfest L.A. Film Festival running October 12th thru the 20th, we chatted this week with director Marcus Dunstan, whose film The Collection kicks the whole thing off this Friday at 7:30pm.
We also scored a couple of behind-the-scenes photos in the process, as well as word on Rise. Read on!
Written by Dunstan and long-time collaborator Patrick Melton, The Collection serves as a high-octane sequel to their 2009 horror feature The Collector, and stars the returning Josh Stewart as ‘Arkin,’ Lee Tergesen, Christopher McDonald, Johnny Yong Bosch, Emma Fitzpatrick, Shannon Kane, Tim Griffin, William Peltz, Eaddy Mays, Michael Nardelli, Justin Mortelliti, Michael H. Cole, Arloa Reston and Courtney Lauren Cumming.
"We can't wait to unleash The Collection upon Screamfest this Friday night!,” Dunstan told us, whose previous writing credits with Melton include the Feast series and the bulk of the Saw film franchise.
“I can't imagine a better crowd to traumatize!

No doubt we enter into the fall traditional mix of prestige films, comedies, and horrors. Such is the case with Marcus Dunstan’s The Collection, which premiered at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas and seems to be getting some solid reviews.
The first trailer and poster banner for the sequel have been already released and a new one-sheet has just arrived courtesy of Dread Central.
The horror film will hit theaters nationwide on November 30th, 2012, starring Josh Stewart, Lee Tergesen, Christopher McDonald, Johnny Yong Bosch, Emma Fitzpatrick, Shannon Kane, Tim Griffin, William Peltz, Eaddy Mays, Michael Nardelli, Justin Mortelliti, Michael H. Cole, Arloa Reston and Courtney Lauren Cumming.
In the follow-up to the 2009 thriller The Collector, Stewart returns as Arkin, the only man to tangle with The Collector and live to tell about it. The film, of course, has a number of recognizable faces in McDonald, and Tergesen.
