In recent days, we've once again started hearing rumblings about Marvel Studios' plans for Nova. The character has been ignored for far too long, with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn happily admitting the hero never interested him.
The expectation is that when the character does finally appear in the MCU, Sam Alexander will hold the Nova mantle. There may, however, still be plans for Richard Rider to act as a mentor or partner to the teenager.
Talking to Screen Rant, Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum seemed to strongly hint that Nova is destined to take flight on Disney+
"It's new territory for us, developing more shows than we produce," he started. "Nova certainly is exciting to us, we've got some great ideas simmering. I think there's a lot of potential there. I love Nova, also, from the comics, especially the Richard Rider era.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
“They shall know my Inferno!” cries the Goblin Queen early in X-Men ’97‘s third episode. Now, the Goblin Queen has had a rough day, which began with her thinking that she was the real Jean Grey and ended with the revelation that she was a clone created by evil (but fashionable) geneticist Mr. Sinister. Her heel turn came so quick that she really didn’t have time to workshop her villain monologues.
Whatever the shortcomings in her baddie banter, the Goblin Queen makes up for it with evil powers. She immediately begins transforming the X-Mansion into a Hellscape, complete with a giant head in an elevator and a vision of Xavier as a monster from the anime classic Akira. Wild as these transformations are, they have nothing on the comic book storyline that inspired it.

Spider-Man has a baddie line-up to rival that of any other superhero. Even better, the best of the worst regularly get together to form a supervillain team, the Sinister Six. Why the very idea is enough to send any superhero fan’s heart aflutter. And make a Sony executive’s bank account howl in hunger.
That’s undoubtedly why Sony has tried so hard to make a Sinister Six movie happen, first in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, and then in its Spidey-less Spider-Verse with Venom, Morbius, and Madame Web. But before both of these disastrous failures, Sony was already on the right track to making a great movie with some of the best baddies.
After the sub-standard Spider-Man 3, director Sam Raimi had planned to right the ship, leaving behind shiny new(ish) villains like Venom. Announced on March 12, 2009, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4...

This article contains spoilers for the first Captain Marvel movie
“This can’t be right,” says a disembodied voice, over an image of an Air Force pilot, signaling to her wingman in an adjoining jet. The voice commands someone to go back further, this time to images of a little girl racing a go-cart. “Who is this person?” asks the voice, speaking for most of the viewers as well.
The confusion of the speaker, later revealed to be the Skrull Talos, comes from his expectation to see memories of Hala, the assumed homeworld of the Kree warrior Vers. He doesn’t realize that Vers was born on Earth as Carol Danvers. After Talos unlocks her memories, Carol recovers her identity and her full power, eventually becoming the superhero Captain Marvel.
For some, the decision to make Carol an amnesiac both hampered the performance of the energetic actor Brie Larson and...

This post contains light spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Among the many pleasures of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was its celebration of all things Spider-Man. The 2018 film filled the screen with webheads, letting audiences delight in all of the variations of people and creatures who can do anything a spider can. Into the Spider-Verse made fast fans of Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy aka Ghost Spider and Nicolas Cage‘s tough-talking Spider-Man Noir. Across the Spider-Verse continues this tradition with Oscar Isaac as conflicted antagonist Spider-Man 2099, but the real breakout is the movie’s loudest, rudest character: Spider-Punk.
Voiced by Daniel Kaluuya (in an accent closer to his native English), Spider-Punk is Hobie Brown, the Spider-Man of Earth-138. Draped in the trash aesthetic of 70s UK punk, Hobie battles against oppression with a commitment to anarchy and disruption. Spider-Verse directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers,...

Marvel has just added another Game of Thrones star to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Amid questions about Kit Harington’s future in the MCU, the studio just announced its latest addition to Secret Invasion.
Game of Thrones boasted an expansive ensemble cast that ranks among the largest in television history. Therefore, it comes as no shock that Marvel continues to tap into the talent reservoir of the HBO series.
While fans will likely approve of the move, many are still wondering if Harington’s days in the MCU are numbered.

This week I bring you a review for the latest of The Beast Agenda in Wolverine #29 plus a retro review from Wolverine comics past. The reason for the retro review is that I missed a Wolverine comic this month! My credentials are slipping! I only found out on the day it came out that the one-shot Murderworld: Wolverine even existed. I contacted my Lcs right away, unfortunately they didn’t have one to send out in the post but they’ve ordered me one for next month. So I booted up the random number generated and I was relatively happy with the issue it spat out.
Wolverine #29 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Juan Jose Ryp | Colouritst: Frank D’Armata | Letters: Cory Petit

The Marvel Studios Disney+ shows have led to more discourse than the movies perhaps ever did. With so many more easter eggs to break down, characters to unravel and settings to explore, it’s no surprise that fans have a diverse range of opinions on what’s happened and what’s coming next. But there’s one figure who seems to have connected almost all of the streaming service’s projects in one way or another; whether as a serious discussion or as a parody playing on a long-running obsession, and that’s Mephisto, a character who’s comic book roots are baked into the fabric of the Marvel Universe, and who has surprisingly never actually been introduced into the MCU itself.
Who the Devil Is Mephisto?
Mephisto is a demonic entity that was introduced in 1968 as part of Issue 3 of The Silver Surfer run.

The new Disney+ series from Marvel Studios, She-Hulk, is in full swing. The show is based on the character created by Stan Lee and John Buscema and made her first appearance in 1980. But this is not the first time they tried to get a live-action version off the ground. Best Movies Never Made, the official Twitter handle for the podcast of the same name, recently posted pics about an unproduced She-Hulk movie from 1991.
The movie had planned to star six-foot model-turned-actress Brigitte Nielsen. She had made her film debut as the heroine in Red Sonja, a distant cousin of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan the Barbarian series (he shows up – but not as Conan). The tall framed actress went on to Rocky IV and Cobra, co-starring then-husband Sylvester Stallone. Her stature seemed like a perfect fit to portray Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s expansion never seems to end. There are constant rumors surrounding the latest heroes and villains that might join the ever-growing line-up and each one is as exciting as the last. While not all of them pay off, every now and then there’s a nugget of information that could hint to the future of Marvel Studios’ plans.
One such rumor could have major implications for a conflict that fans have always wanted on the big screen. While the Avengers vs. the Justice League is likely never to happen, there are ways around the obvious studio problems that would normally get in the way of the dream match, and there are signs that suggest Marvel Studios could copy from the comics in order to get the fight that audiences are waiting for while also tackling the perceived notion that the MCU...

Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is a very, very silly show.
Don’t get me wrong. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is exactly the sort of silly show you should be expecting from a series called She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It’s broad, bright and eager to serve the audience with a wink and a nudge. It’s loose to the point of near formlessness, boasting a clear theme and a savvy feminist streak, but it doesn’t seem to even be aspiring to stakes or a distinctive style.
Based on the four half-hour episodes sent to critics, She-Hulk is more Ally McBeal than The Good Fight, as legally focused comedies go, closer to the sort of relentlessly meta tweaking of classic sitcom tropes characteristic of the early episodes of WandaVision than the darker, richer undercurrents characteristic of the later episodes. Approached on its own terms,...

In the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+, Tatiana Maslany brings to life Jennifer Walters, aka, "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." The character was first introduced in "The Savage She-Hulk" #1 comic in 1980, and has made a handful of mostly animated film and television appearances over the years. But the character created by the late Stan Lee and John Buscema has yet to appear in the MCU, until now. Jennifer Walters is an interesting character, because while she's proud to be the cousin of Bruce Banner, she's less than thrilled when she develops his superhuman abilities after some bloody cross-contamination. The nine-episode...

“I made macaroni.” That line, from Hawkeye episode 5 “Ronin,” launched one of the most exciting developments in the MCU’s phase four: the friendship between Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova. Played with irreverent pluck by Florence Pugh, Belova was not only the breakout character in Black Widow, but also a key part of Marvel’s future plans, joining Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine’s team of misfits. If early reaction to Yelena is any indication, then the Marvel Cinematic Universe can continue its popularity, even as it loses original heroes like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.
Like every other part of the MCU, Yelena Belova has her roots in the comics. First introduced in 1999’s Inhumans #5, Yelena was created by writer Devon Grayson and artist J.G. Jones as an antagonist and eventual ally to Black Widow Natasha Romanov. Given the important role that Belova played in Black Widow and Hawkeye,...

Last week we lost Tim Sale, at this time my condolences are with his family and friends… He has pulled his seat up to the great drawing board in the sky much too soon.
On a personal level, the work of Tim Sale greatly influenced my early days of collecting comics. Firstly I remember in the build-up to the release of the first X-Men film I was watching a comic book hour on QVC. One book that kept coming up in the show was Batman: The Long Halloween. The next day I went to a book shop in the local shopping centre, not knowing the best places to buy comics. Also not knowing the prices of comics I found The Long Halloween to be out of my price range. It would be a few years before I finally read a copy from my local library and a few more years...

Once upon a time, back when Lou Ferrigno’s Incredible Hulk was the big thing on TV – “the rage,” you might say – Marvel Comics was starting to sweat because there was a chance that the show was going to eventually introduce a female counterpart to the main character. If some kind of “She-Hulk” was introduced on the show or a spinoff movie, then she would be CBS’s property. Marvel was so desperate for ownership of “Hulk, but woman” that Stan Lee and John Buscema put together Savage She-Hulk #1 in 1980.
How funny it is that decades later, Marvel is introducing She-Hulk to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via a TV show? She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will be coming out this August with nine episodes and, looking at the trailer, it gives us a comedic, albeit down-to-earth look at what society is in the MCU.
So who do we have breaking through...

It was the monoculture all along. Marvel’s WandaVision debuted on Disney+ on January 16th, timed perfectly for a pandemic-pummeled nation fresh from an assault on its Capitol so outlandish it could’ve been pulled from MCU outtakes. WandaVision was a turducken of cultural comfort food, a loving tribute to sitcom history with supernatural mystery and superheroics bubbling underneath: “a combination of Nick at Nite and Marvel,” in the words of series director Matt Shakman, all of it driven by themes of grief and loss that also fit its era all too well.

Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that there have been talks about his Bruce Banner/Hulk showing up in Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk show.
The actor dropped the info during a panel at C2E2 over the weekend, where he was on hand to chat about all things Marvel with host Clare Kramer, who you may remember as the evil, mind-warping god Glory from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among other things.
LaughingPlace.com was present as Ruffalo sat down to answer some pressing questions, and he mulled how he was feeling about where we left Bruce in the closing scenes of Avengers: Endgame. After admitting he’d still like Hulk and Thanos to have a rematch, the Dark Waters star was inevitably asked if we could see Hulk – Smart or Smash-flavored tbc! – pop up in Marvel and Disney+’s She-Hulk, which is now rumored to start filming in November.

David Harbour has opened up about his character Red Guardian in the upcoming film “Black Widow” from Marvel Studios in a new interview with TheWrap.
“He’s this guy who is closely linked to Natasha back in the day. I don’t think it’s been quite revealed exactly how, but I think you can see in the family dynamic that he was a bit of a fatherly figure to her. And a number of years go by and he’s past his prime. So he gets back into his superhero outfit, and it still fits, but it’s a little tighter than before. I think the great thing about the Red Guardian is he really is– he was the Captain America of his day for Russia. And he was the great hope of Russia, in a certain sense,” Harbour said.

Avengers: Endgame gave us a Hulk in the laboratory. Now Disney+ will be giving us a She-Hulk in the courtroom.
One of the better parts of Avengers: Endgame was the fact that Professor Hulk was a viable character, able to exist in normal scenes without sticking out like a sore thumb. Once they had that tech figured out, it was only a matter of time before She-Hulk became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now, here we are, with the announcement of She-Hulk getting her own Disney+ show!
She-Hulk is high on the list of “top Marvel characters to not yet show up in the McU,” especially now that both the X-Men and Fantastic Four are inevitable arrivals. Since her introduction in 1980, she’s been a major fixture in Marvel and a fresh enough take on an existing property that she rarely feels redundant when standing next to her brutish cousin.

The Infinity Saga may be over, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe will barrel forward with the November launch of Disney+. At D23 Expo in Anaheim on Friday, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed that the upcoming slate of series scheduled to premiere on the Disney streaming platform will be integrated into the films just as the current McU movies are and always have been.
“These episodes will intersect with the movies in a very big way,” Feige said. “It’s a totally new form of storytelling that we get to play with and explore.”
Although Marvel fans already knew a handful of titles to expect, ranging from “WandaVision” and the Untitled Loki Series, Feige also announced three new titles. Details, below.
Untitled Loki Series
McU regular Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki for the Disney+ series. Daniel Brühl will return as Zemo, joined by Emily VanCamp, who played Sharon Carter in the “Captain America” films.

I think it is fair to say after eleven years and twenty two movies the McU very much became its own entity. It was successful enough and brave enough to tell its own stories. While Avengers: Endgame is busy making millions I have seen lots of tweets reminding people not to forget the comic book roots of these characters and the creators or created them for so little pay and credit. So what I want to do here is give some reading suggestions for stories that inspired important moments in the McU. Also it will give me a chance to talk about the pricing up Tpb’s or hardcovers on eBay, because so far a lot of my time has been spent focusing on single issues. I did have a very cool idea to highlight some single issues that are key to Avengers: Endgame but as we are still in...

In particular, the stars of the McU have come forward to pay their respects to the man who created the universe they’re lucky enough to play in.
Of course, many of them got to meet Lee as he was part of the movie-making process, too, filming his traditional cameo roles that will be sorely missed going forward. One person who had the chance to meet Stan was Karen Gillan, star of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers films, and while speaking to People Magazine, the Scottish actress revealed the advice she got from him when she met the legend on set.
