Immediately after O.J. Simpson’s death from cancer made the news worldwide, Whoopi Goldberg took time out from the hot topics portion of The View to announce it for those tuning in.
She began the segment by saying, “News broke that O.J. Simpson passed away from cancer at 76.”
As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, O.J. passed away, and a statement from the family reads in part, ” On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.”
O.J. is most famous for the “trial of the century,” as Sunny Hostin called it on The View.
He was acquitted of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, both of whom died on June 12, 1994, but was subsequently found liable for their deaths, according to ABC News.
The trial in which he was acquitted held special meaning for Sunny Hostin and was partly responsible for shaping her career.

The View has a great lineup at regular times. Whoopi Goldberg is there on Mondays, and Joy Behar fills in for her on Fridays.
Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin are the mainstays, with Ana Navaro floating around as needed.
With an earthquake, eclipse, and a recent fire, things have been abnormal on the set.
And now a familiar face has been missing since this Tuesday, causing a massive gap in the otherwise steady team.
Sara Haines went missing abruptly, with Whoopi addressing why early during the week. The last time Sara missed, she was sick, but not this time.
Sara gave fans a clue about where she was on her Instagram reels but not why she was missing her seat on The View.

Brian Teta, the executive producer of The View, has signed a new contract for the show that will keep him at the often buzzy daytime talker for the next four years.
The show has been up 3% in total viewers season to date, and has continued to top daytime talk shows and news programs in viewership and households. There are signs of an election-year influence in the uptick: The day after the Iowa caucuses, when ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jon Karl guested, the show’s 2.85 million viewers was its most watched telecast in nearly two years.
“Every time there’s a big moment in the news cycle, whether it’s the State of the Union, or a Republican debate or anything like that, I see a spike the next morning, even in pop culture world where it’s something like the Oscars,” Teta said. “People are tuning in to see...

Fans of The View tune in to see the ladies, led by Whoopi Goldberg, discuss the hot topics of the day, each giving their own take on situations.
The show occasionally has musical guests or cooking segments like Joy Behar and her lasagna. These are nice breaks between the heavy politics that are the mainstay.
One segment has fans tuning out as soon as it comes on, which is unfortunate for the popular talk show.
Recently, on Reddit, fans took the show to task over a segment that not many people like.
The View Your Deal segment is taking some heat on social media for a couple of reasons that fans agree on, and it’s not a good look for The View.
The segment includes ladies like Sara Haines or Sunny Hostin hawking discounted wares to the viewers, but some are annoyed with that portion of the show.

The ever-controversial ladies on The View interviewed Marco Perego and Zoë Saldaña this week on the show about their upcoming flick, The Absence of Eden.
During the segment, Joy Behar seemingly let the cat out of the bag when it came to a new and major film role for her co-host, Whoopi Goldberg.
“The View’s” – Joy Behar Makes A Mistake
While Perego and Saldaña were on The View to promote their new movie, which is about migrants in America, fellow co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin mentioned the buzz around a Star Trek fourth installment reboot.
Since Zoë participated in the last three of the franchise’s editions, Alyssa asked the actress what she could tell their viewers about the project. Saldaña turned to Goldberg and the two started a bit of a giggle-fest.

On The View this week, Joy Behar seemed to drop a spoiler about a huge movie role for Whoopi Goldberg. It came when the team interviewed Zoë Saldaña and Marco Perego about their movie, The Absence of Eden.
Joy Behar Makes A Mistake On The Talk Show?
When the co-host talked about Whoopi, she might have been wrong to do that. Perhaps, as fans suspect, she should think about retiring and focusing on her writing and comedy show. While that sounds a bit harsh, there are plenty of retirement rumors. Talk shows can be time-consuming and exhausting, especially when the hosts have other commitments.

Things on The View took a turn recently when Whoopi Goldberg had to shut everything down to deal with an unruly audience member.
Whoopi is not afraid to speak up about topics she thinks they should avoid or tell errant audience members to stop when breaking the rules.
Alyssa Farah Griffin was mid-sentence over something political when suddenly, Whoopi stood up and said they needed to stop.
“Sir. I have to stop you with your camera cause I can see you. Do me a favor; don’t pull it out again. I don’t appreciate that. Thank you.”
The other ladies were confused and scared. Joy Behar asked, “What was he doing?”
Sunny Hostin looked upset as Sara Haines whispered, “Recording.”
The New York Post reports that during a taping of The View, cellphones “are prohibited and are expected to be silenced or turned off during the live broadcast to avoid any interruptions.

Whoopi Goldberg openly scolded a member of the audience on The View during Tuesday’s live show, effectively pausing the broadcast. She picked the person out of the crowd and called them out for unwelcome behavior while her co-hosts were speaking. Keep reading to see why the seasoned panelist stopped the show to shame one of the audience members.
Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out An Audience Member For Shocking Behavior
The individual was trying to secretly record the Hot Topics portion of the show from his phone. Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin were talking about former President Trump’s legal issues. Whoopi interrupted them mid-sentence, staring at someone out in the audience.
“Hold on a second, hold on,” Whoopi Goldberg said. She got up from her seat at the table and approached the person, who stayed off-screen. “Sir, I have to stop you with the camera. Because I can see you.

Update, with video: The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg abruptly stopped the panel’s Hot Topics discussion today to scold an audience member apparently recording the proceedings with a cellphone.
Getting up from her seat and walking to the side of the stage area, Goldberg sternly said, “Hold on a second. Sir, I have to stop you with the camera because I can see you. Do me a favor: Don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you.”
Watch the video above. The moment comes at the 3:00 mark.
The other co-hosts – Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin – sat stone-faced and surprised during the interruption, which came during a discussion of Donald Trump’s latest legal problems. “What was he doing?” Behar asked quietly, with Haines responding, “Recording.”
The videotaping scofflaw was never shown on camera. The audience applauded Goldberg’s action.

Danielle Brooks is tired. For a very good reason.
She’s in Los Angeles for the SAG Awards after a 13-hour flight from New Zealand, where she’s spent the last month shooting the movie adaptation of the popular video game “Minecraft” with Jack Black and Jason Momoa.
“I have absolutely no clue what today is,” she says, laughing, Thursday morning while promoting her new SAG Awards partnership with Campari.
Brooks goes into the SAG Awards as a nominee for female actor in a supporting role for her work as Sofia in “The Color Purple” as well as for outstanding cast for the movie. This isn’t Brooks’ first-time at the SAG Awards. She’s won three statuettes as part of the “Orange Is the New Black” ensemble. “For the fourth time we were nominated, they said, ‘Danielle, you could give the acceptance speech this time.’ And then we didn’t get it!

Many things happen at the table when the ladies gather for the popular talk show The View.
Sunny Hostin seems to be the biggest culprit for mess-ups live on the air. Her phone rang during a live interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger in what was an embarrassing gaffe for her.
But recently, Sunny got Joy Behar into the hot water alongside her, and neither lady was happy with being found out.
Ana Navarro, the oft-bleeped co-host, was off, and Joy took her middle seat. Otherwise, Ana would be the one getting a scolding from Whoopi Goldberg.
Whoopi was trying to do her job and moderate the show. She began with a story from Reddit about a couple that drove eight hours and across country lines to a wedding only to find out they were not invited to the reception.
Unfortunately, because of Sunny and Joy’s shenanigans, Whoopi kept getting interrupted...

Corey Hawkins and Danielle Brooks may both be currently starring in the musical adaptation of The Color Purple, but the two have a long history, having been classmates at Juilliard over a decade ago.
The duo were part of the same 18-person class and have maintained a friendship since, with Hawkins telling The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s Los Angeles premiere Wednesday that “for this moment to come, it was always Danielle’s but I got the call first; I remember calling [producer] Scott Sanders and literally hung up the phone, picked it back up and I was like, ‘Bro, it has to be Danielle Brooks right? I’m not crazy.’ And of course it was, it always was,” he recounted. “She’s an incredible talent, she stands on her own, and when people see this film they will understand the magnitude of what she brings, of what all of these women bring.

Whoopi Goldberg is opening up about a polarizing 1993 Oscars look.
For the Academy Awards that year, the 67-year-old The View host wore a green jumpsuit decorated with a purple pattern, a satin purple jacket with green lining, and flashy gold and green earrings.
While chatting with Page Six Style at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala on Tuesday (October 17), Whoopi recalled that she was really affected by the overwhelmingly negative response.
Keep reading to find out what she said…
The actress remembered how “everyone hated” her outfit. “It hurt my feelings, I’m not going to lie,” she said. “It hurt my feelings. It kept me from dressing up for a very long time.”
She added, “You have to remember, in those days, they would say things and you’d think, ‘Do I really look that ridiculous?’”
The Oscar winner explained that Lucille Ball inspired the look. “Lucy...

Shark Tank‘s Barbara Corcoran revealed that aside from sharpening her teeth on would-be investments, she once set bait for Whoopi Goldberg to join the team as a potential guest shark. During The View‘s Tuesday, October 17 episode, Shark Tank stars Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Corcoran were guests. The View cohost Sara Haines inquired about Corcoran’s interest in having Goldberg join the investors on the show. “You have a lot of great guest sharks this season, but I heard you really pushed for someone we know to be a guest shark on the show,” Haines asked, leaving Corcoran to respond, “That would be Whoopi. No one would argue with me. She tells it like it is.” Cuban enthusiastically suggested that Goldberg would make an exceptional addition to the shark tank, eliciting a hearty laugh from the acclaimed Egot-winning actress of Ghost as she contemplated the proposal.

What does one give the Pope as a present? Well, if you’re “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg, you give him a signed copy of “Sister Act,” along with some merch for the movie. Yes, seriously.
Whoopi returned to the ABC talk show on Monday, after being absent for much of last week. On Wednesday, host Joy Behar explained that Goldberg was “off doing something really exciting” that they couldn’t talk about, and urged viewers to come back on Monday for an explanation. Well, as it turns out, Whoopi went to meet the Pope.
“It was kind of shocking. Because for 11 years, this is something I’ve tried to do,” Whoopi explained. “And you know, you have to go through all these different ways, and we did it a different way. And the next thing I knew I was in Rome, talking to him. And he was quite amazing.

“The View” once again began the show Tuesday with a live correspondence from the ground in Israel, but it was cut off earlier than planned, as the reporter was forced to evacuate the area in the middle of his report.
ABC News Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman kicked off the talk show with live reporting from Sderot, Israel, getting the hosts and viewers up to speed on the current state of things, specifically the next steps for Israel’s military. But, as he explained everything, he was interrupted.
“The amount of anger in Israel is monumental,” Gutman explained. “People want Hamas destroyed, both militarily and politically, and I think it would be very difficult for Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to launch some sort of significant incursion at this point — sorry, there’s some soldiers calling out.”
In the moments that followed, Gutman was indeed approached by a military official,...

Rachel Bilson wants to clarify a few things after her podcast comments drew a sharp rebuke from The View’s Whoopi Goldberg.
To recap: Bilson admitted on a recent episode of her Broad Ideas podcast that she might have judged a guy she’s dating “if a dude’s in his 40s and he’s slept with, like, [only] four women.” She later backtracked, saying: “It all depends. Maybe he’s been in, like, decade-[long] relationships, which is fully respectable… It’s not fair for me to say, either way.”

It’s not often that Whoopi Goldberg gets into an argument with a guest on “The View,” but it happened on Monday, and as a result, the show was nearly unintelligible for several minutes.
It came as Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) appeared on the ABC talk show, first discussing how the government narrowly avoided shutdown. Eventually though, Mace noted that she’s frustrated about how several issues are being handled in Congress, including abortion rights.
She said that neither side is willing to find a middle ground, prompting Goldberg to argue that there shouldn’t have to be a middle ground in the first place, because the government shouldn’t be involved in a woman’s decision to have an abortion.
“No law says you have to have an abortion. There’s no law on the books that says you have to have an abortion,” the host said. “Isn’t that my choice,...

“The View” hit an awkward silence, followed almost immediately by hysterical laughter on Wednesday, after host Sara Haines accidentally called out Whoopi Goldberg as the richest person in the room — just based on the sweatshirt Whoopi was wearing.
The moment came as the women were discussing Donald Trump being found liable for fraud on Tuesday, after a judge ruled that he over-exaggerated his net worth and over-valued his assets in order to grow his real estate empire. For Haines, the fact that Trump would do that wasn’t surprising at all.
“I always laughed at his whole whole persona,” Haines explained. “Because when people say ‘Oh, but he was this real estate tycoon,’ I was like, no, he was a caricature. Because when you see him — the wealthiest person in a room is usually in a hoodie.”

Former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson stopped by “The View” on Tuesday, and host Whoopi Goldberg had a serious question for her: “Did you not realize you were in a cult?”
The ask came as host Sunny Hostin homed in on one particular piece of Hutchinson’s new book, “Enough,” in which she recounted how she explained to her mother why she was still moving to Mar-a-Lago with Trump, even after the events of January 6. But for Hostin, the explanation in the book was unclear, so she pushed further.
“Are we talking opportunity? Or are we talking guilt?” Hostin asked. “What would make you still go to Mar-a-Lago?”
Hutchinson conceded that it is a bit “confusing,” and clarified that “I did genuinely put a lot of the blame on myself, on the people that had surrounded the president, because I felt that it was our job to advise him, it was...

This is Day 141 of the WGA strike and Day 68 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
In the wake of two prominent talk show hosts reversing course on a return to work, striking writers in New York City have stepped up their picketing against a high-profile holdout: ABC’s The View.
About 50 demonstrators showed up Tuesday outside the ABC television studio complex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and urged arriving ABC employees not to cross the picket line.
It was the second straight day of what Writers Guild officials called a renewed campaign against The View after Drew Barrymore and Bill Maher abandoned efforts to restart their shows without their unionized writers aboard. Two other daytime programs, The Talk and The Jennifer Hudson Show, also postponed their season premieres, scheduled for this past Monday, leaving The View as the only WGA signatory daytime or late-night talk show that is still on the air (without its writers.

Though Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert has apologized for the behavior that led her to being escorted out of a local production of “Beetlejuice,” she maintains that her actions were just a part of her “eccentric” personality. But the hosts of “The View” aren’t buying that line.
Boebert’s antics led the day’s Hot Topics discussion on the ABC talk show, as the hosts marveled at the security footage that was released, which proved Boebert was, contrary to her earlier denials, vaping inside, using her phone’s flash photography to capture what was happening on stage, and also getting pretty handsy with the man she was with.
During an appearance on “Real America with Dan Hall” on Sunday, Boebert downplayed the situation, saying “I was a little too eccentric. I’m very known for having an animated personality, maybe overtly animated personality.”

Whoopi Goldberg posed a question to her co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, that nobody saw coming. During the September 14 episode of The View, Goldberg, serving as moderator, interrupted a discussion on Utah Sen. Mitt Romney’s imminent retirement to ask Griffin randomly, “are you pregnant?” Everyone at the table’s jaw dropped as Griffin, in equal awe, exclaimed, “No! Oh my God!” The studio also erupted with reactions in front of the panel. “You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here, who’s been dying for me to get pregnant,” she said before questioning, “Why do I look pregnant?” “Yes,” Goldberg quickly replied. “I just got a vibe… I’m so sorry.” Griffin then went on to clarify her answer to Whoopi’s question, saying, “I am very open to being pregnant soon,” she said. “I am not blessed to be pregnant yet. My husband and I are thinking about it.

If President Biden wants Black voters to come out in support of him in 2024, he better not be thinking of running without Kamala Harris — at least, that’s what “The View” host Sunny Hostin argued on Thursday.
Her assertion came as she and her co-hosts discussed an interview Sen. Nancy Pelosi gave CNN this week, in which she was asked point-blank (twice) by Anderson Cooper if she thinks Kamala Harris is the best running mate for Biden in 2024. In response, Pelosi replied that “he thinks so, and that’s what matters,” and lauded Harris for being “politically astute.”
Hostin pointed out that, in 2020, Biden earned 91% percent of the Black vote, and swore that Black people would come out and support him again — if Kamala Harris is his running mate.
“I would be very careful, President Biden, about getting rid of Kamala Harris. Because we will not support you,” she said bluntly.

Whoopi Goldberg brought “The View” to an abrupt halt on Thursday morning, when she stopped mid-sentence — a sentence about politics of all things — to ask co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin if she’s pregnant.
The day’s Hot Topics discussion kicked off with the women discussing Mitt Romney’s announcement that he doesn’t plan to retire, and applauding the decision, but mourning the “rot” of the Republican party. But, as Whoopi was giving her insights on the state of things, she suddenly got distracted.
“The toughest thing for me has been to watch the disregard for people — are you pregnant?” she said, visibly startling Farah Griffin, and earning an outburst of laughter from the audience.
“No! Oh my god!” Farah Griffin said clutching her chest, before hiding her immediately flushed cheeks. “You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here, who’s been dying for me to get pregnant!

“People write she got the vaccine so how come she still gets it?,” Behar said. ” “Because she’s not dead! She’s just a little under the weather. If you don’t get [the vaccine] and you get the disease you might die.

“We’re back. Thank you, this is the premiere show of our 27th year on the air. I was here for all of it, except for two, when they canned me. When they sacked my behind,” Behar said.
“As you can see, Whoopi is not here, she has Covid,” she continued. “Yes, it’s back, it’s back, but she’s on the mend, she’s on the tail end, and she’ll probably be back this week. But, sorry she’s not here, for those of you that were looking forward to seeing her.

Whoopi Goldberg has tested positive for Covid-19 again, a diagnosis that resulted in her missing the Season 27 premiere of “The View.”
“As you can see, Whoopi is not here. She has Covid,” Joy Behar said during the episode. “Yes, it’s back. It’s back! But she’s on the mend. She’s on the tail end, and she’ll probably be back this week. But sorry she’s not here for those of you who were looking forward to seeing her.”
Goldberg previously missed a few episodes due to a Covid diagnosis in 2022. Just like last time, the diagnosis happened over a break for the show.
This is far from the first time a host of the talk show was removed due to a Covid diagnosis. Earlier this year, Alyssa Farah Griffin was diagnosed with the illness as well as a rebound case, causing her to miss episodes. Then...
