“Deadpool” and “Homeland” actress Morena Baccarin will star in the survival thriller “Beast,” to be directed by Espen Sandberg, who co-helmed Oscar-nominated “Kon-Tiki” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
Based on Aaron W. Sala’s Blacklist script, “Beast” is about a woman who survives a plane crash and is stranded on a seemingly deserted island in the South Pacific. “She must fight to get back to her children, face her inner demons and a real threat of unimaginable proportions,” according to a statement from the producers.
Sherryl Clark and Kenneth Huang are producing for The H Collective alongside Rakuten’s Mickey Mikitani. Shooting will begin in late March in New Zealand. “Beast” is the first film under the joint venture between Rakuten and The H Collective, who first partnered in August.

Kate Beckinsale is set to star in a new female-driven action comedy called Jolt. In it she will play a homicidal bouncer.
Beckinsale will take on the role of a character named Lindy, “a badass bouncer with a slightly murderous anger-management problem that she controls with the help of an electrode-lined vest she uses to shock herself back to normalcy whenever she gets homicidal.”
The story will follow Lindy as she goes on a “revenge-fueled rampage” to find the person who killed her boyfriend, who happens to the the first guy she’s ever fallen for. Of course, the cops will also be coming after her as their chief suspect.
The movie was directed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria) from a script written by Scott Wascha (Made in Berlin). This actually sounds like it could be a really fun movie and a great project for the actress to take on. Wexler...

John R. Leonetti focused his lens on a haunted doll in The Conjuring spinoff film Annabelle, and his next film will highlight the horrors of a music box with the powers to grant even the most gruesome of your wishes. You can see the antique’s deadly effects teased in the new trailer for Wish Upon, which co-stars Shannon Purser, who played Barb in Stranger Things.
“Twelve years after discovering her mother’s suicide, 17-year-old Clare Shannon (Joey King) is bullied in high school, embarrassed by her manic, hoarder father Jonathan (Ryan Phillippe) and ignored by her longtime crush. All that changes when her father comes home with an old music box whose inscription promises to grant its owner seven wishes. While Clare is initially skeptical of this magic box, she can’t help but be seduced by its dark powers, and is thrilled as her life radically improves with each wish.
