Netflix and Blumhouse have parted ways with Lexi Alexander’s “Absolute Dominion,” a sci-fi martial arts film led by Patton Oswalt, Alex Winter and Julie Ann Emery.
An insider confirmed that Netflix will no longer distribute the film, while Blumhouse is no longer attached as a producer. Though the decision wasn’t easy, said the insider, they support Alexander finding another distributor.
Set in 2085, the movie centers on a futuristic martial arts tournament in which the victor wins absolute dominion for one religion. Greenlit by Netflix in April of this year, the Nevada shoot wrapped in August and the film is now in post-production.
Writer-director-producer Alexander did not directly comment on the decision. However, she retweeted the news with the message “Don’t worry, it’s not bad news. But here are the leads…” above images of four cast members.

BET+ is venturing into the historical/period pieces with this intriguing mini-series inspired by real events!
The Porter dives into the height of the North American railway system, mainly for Black workers who made their bread and butter in the transportation business as porters, a job that was one of the most common for Black men at the time.
And through what promises to be an enthralling series, The Porter draws from the formation of the first Black Union.
Through The Porter, we follow two train porters who were as close as ever, Junior Massey and Zeke Garrett.
One tragedy strikes on the job, leaving the community reeling; the two set on completely different paths that will inevitably conflict with one another in their dogged pursuit of a better life and all that it entails as Black men during the early 1920s.
Junior takes an "if you can't beat them,...

That film was He Never Died, the Henry Rollins-starring vampire movie that was easily one of the best films I’d seen that year. Skip forward four years and another film in the series, entitled She Never Died, makes it’s European debut at the same festival… Yes, we have not a sequel but more of a gender-switching of that first film with the badass Canadian actress Olunike Adeliyi (American Gods) stepping into the formidable shoes of Henry Rollins as this films lead. Whilst writer/director Jason Krawczyk also trades places, giving up the directorial reigns to Audrey Cummings to...

American Gods Season 2 Episode 2 indulges in flashbacks about the man called Shadow Moon.
This American Gods review contains spoilers.
American Gods Season 2 Episode 2
In any good hero's journey, there's always a side-quest. You have to recover this artifact in order to defeat that demon, you have to recover this holy weapon, or that magical key, or that MacGuffin to continue on with whatever the larger journey is.
Given the solid cast of characters of American Gods, it's not surprising that characters will be given a side quest or two along the way, usually at Wednesday's behest. The gang is dispatched to a variety of places; Salim and the Jinn get sent to retrieve Odin's spear, Laura and Mad Sweeney get sent to track down Shadow, Wednesday and Nancy go for a drive, and Mama-ji gets a chance to swap shifts at the diner in order to participate in the war.

"He may need a specialist." Orion has released aew full-length official trailer for another evil child horror thriller titled The Prodigy, hitting theaters next month. The only synopsis available is quite vague, but it's (obviously) about a child who has some demonic force living inside of him. His mother becomes increasingly concerned about his odd behavior and decides to do something about it, which might just (probably will) make things worse. Jackson Robert Scott stars as Miles, with Taylor Schilling as his mother Sarah, and a cast including Colm Feore, Brittany Allen, Peter Mooney, and Olunike Adeliyi. It looks as creepy as it sounds, but I think the first teaser was more effective. Though the final shot in this trailer is unsettling. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster) for Nicholas McCarthy's The Prodigy, direct from YouTube: You can still watch the first teaser trailer for McCarthy's The Prodigy here,...

"I'm no longer speaking to Miles. I'm speaking to the person who has taken residence inside his body. You came uninvited." Orion has released the first teaser trailer for yet another new horror thriller, arriving in February early next year, titled The Prodigy. His mother becomes increasingly concerned about his odd behavior and decides to do something about it, which might just (probably will) make things worse. This is a slick teaser, enough scares to pull you in and make your hair stand up, but without giving away anything else major yet. Check this out. Telefilm Canada has confirmed its financial support of nearly $13 million of Canadian tax payers' money towards the production of nine English-language feature films through the 'Canada Feature Film Fund', although there doesn't seem to be anything culturally 'Canadian' about most of their selections, other than the crews that will be working on them.
Among the films receiving money include a psycho horror with a demonic 'Santa Claus', a bio pic about a former Queen of Sweden, the 'relationship' between 'James Dean' and a photographer, a thriller involving a Satanic child abuse sex ring, and an inflatable Sex Doll drug smuggling story:
The films are "After the Ball" (Sean Garrity), "A Christmas Horror Story" (Steven Hoban, Grant Harvey, Brett Sullivan), "Aloft" (Claudia Llosa), "A Worthy Companion" (Jason Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez), "Life" (Anton Corbijn), "Regression" (Alejandro Amenabar), "Rest Home" (Michael Rowe), "The Girl King" (Mika Kaurismäki) and "Zoom" (Pedro Morelli...

Being Human Air Date: 2/27/2012 “The Ties That Blind”
Aidan’s running through the woods and bumps into fellow vampire Atlee: four wolves are after him. They run away faster. Cut to the morning with Nora and Josh waking up in the same woods, naked and caked in blood and dirt, making a convincing case for cameos in The Hangover 3. And bam, that’s how you start an episode.
A long time coming, but the rest of the vampire community is finally sniffing around Hegeman’s (Mother’s second in command) disappearance and murder. Viewers know Nora killed Hegeman during her first turn in the season premiere, and Mother’s lackey Atlee (Kyle Gatehouse) comes to Aidan at the hospital to imply that not only was Aidan involved but promises consequences should no progress be made in their pursuit of vengeance.

Being Human “Mama Said There’d Be Decades Like These” Air Date: 2/20/2012
We need new shirt slogans.
Decades from now we will look back at this episode as the day when Marikym Hervieux made her sterling debut as Female Blood Whore #1. Or maybe not. A week after Nora joined Brynn and Connor’s wolfpack, she has since left Josh in lurch, ditching him entirely. Sally, taking a break from her addiction to possession, finds her Dad (Joseph Antaki) in the hospital mourning the impending loss of her mother Rena (Rahnuma Panthaky). Aidan is haunted by the vision of his maker and mentor Bishop (TV’s ubiquitous Mark Pellegrino) while reuniting with his own son and creation Henry after 80 years of radio silence.
When Josh alerts Sally about Rena, she watches and wistfully remembers idealized family time as her Mom slowly dies and her Dad sits resolutely by his wife’s side.

Sometimes it pains me to say when a film is an unwatchable mess. Films like French Immersion, the directorial debut of Quebec-based producer Kevin Tierney (Bon Cop, Bad Cop, The Trotsky, Good Neighbours), has an incredible amount of talent in front of the camera and behind it. It is supposed to be a comedy about the differences between English and French speaking Canada, but instead it’s a soul-sucking train wreck full of punchlines so misguided they would make Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy think twice. Sickeningly unfunny and dreadfully “Canadian,” Tierney’s film strikes out on almost every conceivable level.
There’s enough plot and quirky characters in French Immersion to sustain a year’s worth of television pilots, but Tierney tries to pack every half baked idea he has into a single film. The film deals with five English speakers forced to enter into an intense...
