Just a few miles from here in Stratford-upon-Avon, Roland Emmerich's new film Anonymous hasn't gone down too well.
It has reignited the long-standing debate in which some scholars claim William Shakespeare did not create the works attributed to him. Over the years, more than 70 other names have been suggested as the real writers of his plays and sonnets.
Emmerich's movie depicts the Earl of Oxford - who is among the contenders proposed by the so-called anti-Stratfordians - as the real author of the English classics.
Understandably, the version of events described in Anonymous has not met with approval from residents, businesses and academics in Stratford.
