“Degrassi” fans have a reason to celebrate: a three-part documentary series is in the works about the iconic Canadian teen soap.
Featuring behind-the-scenes footages and interviews, the docu-series promises to “dive into ‘Degrassi’ lore and the teenage experience with its creators, cast, crew and fans, as well as generations of filmmakers influenced by the franchise’s 40-year legacy.” It is set to be produced by family entertainment producer WildBrain (which owns the “Degrassi” franchise) with fellow Canadian production company Peacock Alley.
Originally created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood in 1979, “Degrassi” has been a touchstone for teens and young adults for over four decades, reflecting their experiences of adolescence and tackling hard-hitting storylines such as teen pregnancy, racism, AIDS and child abuse.
The show launched the careers of a number of well-known names including recording artist Drake, Raymond Ablack (“Ginny & Georgia”), Nina Dobrev (“Vampire Diaries”), Shenae Grimes (“90210”) and...

The "Scream" franchise arguably stands head and shoulders over its competition. Get out of the way Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger, Ghostface is the reigning champ in the slasher genre. Since its inception in 1996, "Scream" has become a pillar in modern horror with six total films so far. And it's not likely to slow down anytime soon. The series works because of its deconstruction of horror, as well as its top-tier humor. It's funny when you least expect it, often bringing a bit of levity to an otherwise downright terrifying scenario. There's as much funny-bone tickling as there are amazing death scenes in "Scream." You can literally have your cake and eat it too.
From the very beginning, the writers have made sure the characters have personality, with quips always ready in their back pocket. The humor is never wasted and always hits the sweet spot. Whether that's...

Hallmark Christmas movies remain as cozy as ever, with tree-lighting, cookie-decorating and magical snowfall still the currency of the realm. But since the arrival of Wonya Lucas as the new CEO of Hallmark Media (formerly Crown Media) in 2020, the network’s offerings have branched out in many ways: Lots more diversity, of course — including, this year, Hallmark’s first holiday romance centered on a same-sex relationship and the network’s first film focused on Kwanzaa — but also new and different plots.
The memes show no sign of dying, but the movies themselves don’t always match the traditional roadmap. Two of this year’s new movies didn’t end with a kiss, a change previously unthinkable in Hallmark-land.
How do I know all this? Because I watched all 43 new 2022 Hallmark holiday movies (including the three that premiered in July on Hallmark Channel and the nine that premiered on Hallmark Movies...

Nearly 10 months after HBO Max ordered a new series of “Degrassi”, the popular Canadian teen franchise, and also picked up the streaming rights for all 14 seasons of “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, Et has confirmed that reboot is no longer moving forward.
Originally eyed for a 2023 debut, the new “Degrassi” series was going to consist of 10 hour-long episodes and be run by showrunners Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen, with filming set to begin over the summer in Toronto.
The entire library of “Next Generation” episodes, meanwhile, is still available to stream on HBO Max, after first joining the platform this spring.

The reboot of Degrassi will not be moving forward at HBO Max.
A new report from Wall Street Journal on Thursday revealed that the highly anticipated reboot had been shelved.
Warner Bros. Discovery has been in cost-cutting mode since the merger earlier this year.
Many projects have been canceled entirely before broadcast, including the Batgirl movie.
The company has been restructuring in its attempts to save money, and youth programming has largely been shut out.
While it sounds like the decision to end Degrassi was made a while ago, this is the first we've heard of it.
The series was ordered back in January.
Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen are set as showrunners and executive producers of the latest offshoot.
Production was slated for the summer.
"Series after series, the Degrassi franchise continues to make an indelible impact on young viewers looking for trustworthy and authentic storytelling,” said HBO Max earlier this year.

Released eleven years ago, Scream 4 (watch it Here) was the last entry in the Scream franchise from director Wes Craven. We’ve heard some interesting stories about ideas that didn’t make it into Scream 4, like the fact that one version of the opening sequence would have had heroine Sidney Prescott killing a Ghostface slasher right at the start and that Kristen Stewart was asked to participate in the opening sequence that we see in the finished film. Now, during an interview with Hits Radio, Aubrey Plaza revealed that she auditioned for Scream 4 and messed up by getting too into the idea that she could play the killer.
Plaza explained, “One of the earlier auditions I had was for Wes Craven, for the Scream remake or something. They had told me, ‘You’re going in to audition to play a character that eventually you find out is the killer.

Do you like scary movies?
Turns out Kristen Stewart might have had a run-in with Ghostface between “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” films. The Oscar-nominated “Spencer” star revealed to Slant Magazine that she was approached to play a fictional “Stab” actress in the “Scream 4” opening kill, first made famous by the star-studded casting of Drew Barrymore in the original film.
“So it’s the Drew [Barrymore] character that gets killed in the beginning, and they created a whole sequence where a lot of people got killed to emulate the Drew thing,” Stewart said of her would-have-been role. “But it was just going to be one person, and I was like, ‘I can’t do a Drew. I can’t touch that.’ Do you know what I mean? But, yeah, so then they ended up doing, if I’m remembering correctly, a larger sequence and not just one victim.”

Whatever it takes, we know we can always use a good update on the cast of Degrassi. The stars of Degrassi recently reunited for Drake's music video "I'm Upset," and it has us wondering what they've been up to. The series first premiered in 2001, and the stars have certainly grown up since then. While Nina Dobrev (Mia) and Shenae Grimes-Beech (Darcy) moved on to other popular TV shows following their stints on the Canadian series, others have branched out into different careers entirely. Jake Epstein (Craig) fittingly has had a handful of theater credits, while A.J. Saudin (Connor) - who got very hot, Btw - has said goodbye to acting for good to work on music. Keep scrolling to see what the rest of the cast is up to now.

Hoo boy… a whole bunch of chickens came home to roost in Riverdale‘s homecoming episode. And when the dust settled, we got ourselves a new arrest in the Jason Blossom case.
Jughead returns home to F.P.’s trailer and is happy to see his dad has cleaned the place up. F.P. even took the time to read Jughead’s manuscript! But he starts asking a lot of questions about Jason Blossom’s death before recommending that Jughead “move on” from the case. Hmmm. Alice is suspicious of F.

The kids of Degrassi had their own high school reunion last night! Before being known as Drake, Aubrey Graham made a name for himself as a Canadian actor starring on the Noggin series "Degrassi: The Next Generation." The rapper played Jimmy Brooks on the series, a basketball player who ended up in a wheelchair after a school shooting left him paralyzed. While he left the show in 2007, Drake met up with a trio of his former costars on Wednesday night at the Toronto screening of the new series "We Are Disorderly." At the event, he was seen taking photos with Daniel Clark (Sean Cameron), Adam Ruggiero (Maro Del Rossi) and Lauren Collins (Paige Michalchuk). The series they were supporting is directed by Samir Rehem, who directed a ton of "Degrassi" episodes, and written by Mazin Elsadig, who played Damian on the Noggin show. This is the second mini-"Degrassi" reunion in the past week,...

Whatever it took, we knew we could make it through thanks to Degrassi.
The Canadian franchise has captivated tweens and teens for 35 years – and given America some huge stars. Before Drake was a chart-topping rapper, Drake aka Aubrey Graham played Jimmy, a hotshot basketball player/amateur hip hop artist paralyzed from the waist down after a school shooting. The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev? She acted as single mom/model Mia for three seasons. And Shenae Grimes was Christian spirit squad captain Darcy before she traded Canada for Beverly Hills in 90210.
Although Netflix ordered 20 new episodes for 2016, this season marks the show's last on TV.

Whatever it takes, they know they can make it through.
Degrassi stars Shane Kippel, Lauren Collins, Jake Epstein and Adamo Ruggiero reunited Monday while shooting promos for the show, which got canceled earlier this month after 14 years on the air – but is coming back with 20 new episodes in 2016 thanks to the powers that be at Netflix.
Still, every fan of the Canadian tween/teen drama knows that the show really hit its stride in the Next Generation years, with Kippel's slacker Spinner, Collins' queen bee Paige, Epstein's bipolar rocker Craig and Ruggiero's proudly out Marco ruling the hallways.
Look who I stumbled across.

The Degrassi franchise has built a reputation for longevity over the course of its run, as the series focusing on the trials and tribulations of students and teachers at the fictional Degrassi school first began in 1979 with The Kids of Degrassi Street. The latest incarnation of the series, titled Degrassi: The Next Generation, has been running since 2001, and has been the starting and breakout show for numerous current stars, including rapper Drake, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, and former 90210 star Shenae Grimes.
TeenNick, however, the show’s Us broadcaster, recently announced the cancellation of the series, bringing it to a close after 14 seasons, and signalling the apparent end of the Degrassi franchise once again. The show’s final season is poised to begin on July 20th and be comprised of 12 episodes, coming to an end on July 31st.

All good things must come to an end, and sadly for "Degrassi" fans, that means that the long-running teen soap is leaving the air.
"Degrassi: The Next Generation" is set to air its final episode this summer, following 14 seasons on TeenNick. The Canadian series, which started in 2001, spurred the careers of numerous stars, including rapper Drake, "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, and "90210" star Shenae Grimes.
According to Variety, the series will bow with a two-week finale event, beginning with an hour-long special on July 20, "It Goes There: Degrassi's Most Talked About Moments," that features interviews with cast members, creators, and fans. The special will be followed by new episodes every night of the week leading up the July 31 series finale.
