The Marvel vs. DC movie debate has been going on for a long time. Sometimes, even the actors and directors share their views on such matters. Years ago, Zack Snyder made a remark on MCU movies, especially Ant-Man and the Wasp. The superhero film, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena, was released in 2015. At that time, Snyder was working on his DC movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Batman V Superman starred Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. In an interview, Zack Snyder was asked his views on Marvel movies and the director took a potshot at Ant-Man. The Rebel Moon director told The Daily Beast, “I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean,...

The Hobbit: Five Key Differences Between the Book and the Movies - Main Image
Almost a decade after the critical and commercial success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy on film, director Peter Jackson journeyed back to Middle-earth to bring J.R.R. Tolkien's children's novel The Hobbit to the big screen in 2012.
Expanding The Hobbit lore into three parts allowed for more creative freedom to create new characters and scenarios written especially for the films. Here are five notable instances of the key changes made in the movies.

An era that began in 2008 with the release of the first Iron Man is coming to a close. Then we had character introductions, the 2012 Avengers, endless comic book arcs on Earth-616, ending with the confrontation with Thanos and the beginning of the Multiverse.
Some prefer to use the umbrella term 'The Infinity Saga' as applied to the period from 2008 to 2019, but we would like to discuss a broader time period that is essentially unfinished. After all, some characters and their portrayers who were introduced long before Endgame are still involved in the MCU.
Under such circumstances, one of the longest-lived sub-franchises is Ant Man, which is technically still going on, and Paul Rudd's character is likely to return more than once. But what about the original Ant Man, Dr. Hank Pym, played by the excellent Michael Douglas, who has been in the MCU since 2015?

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

Michael Douglas wanted to have a “serious” death scene in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and requested his character be killed off.
As the actor promoted his Apple TV+ series Franklin, Douglas opened up about the Marvel film in which he played Dr. Hank Pym. Ahead of the third film in the Ant-Man saga, the actor said he asked for his character to die.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said on The View. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”
He continued, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

Kevin Feige and his team had big ambitions when they started the MCU back in 2008. The plan was to introduce key members of the Avengers including Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America in their solo films first to make audiences care about the characters. The solo storylines would ultimately culminate in a crossover film which became The Avengers in 2012.
The original six Avengers in 2012’s The Avengers
The big risk paid off as the MCU’s Avengers team incredibly resonated with audiences. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye became the original 6 Avengers. However, director Joss Whedon almost included the Wasp in the film, played by Zooey Deschanel, who was supposed to have a major presence in the film.

The first Avengers film was inarguably a true masterpiece. With its star-studded cast and even more brilliant storyline, casting, and actors’ performances, the Joss Whedon-helmed film was perfection at its peak. But before it was finalized to hold all the elements that it did, the film almost took a different turn; one that could have brought about Zooey Deschanel’s Marvel debut.
2012’s The Avengers.
As surprising as it may seem, filmmaker Whedon almost had Deschanel debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same role that later went on to Michelle Pfeiffer. And had Scarlett Johansson’s scheduling conflicts for the same persisted, fans just might have seen a different plot in the saga — one that included Deschanel as a young Janet Van Dyne!

Before he became Ryan Reynolds' director of choice in decent but forgettable big-budget action comedies, Shawn Levy was known for family movies, as well as that brief moment when he made one of the best live-action anime movies (not based on any actual anime) ever — "Real Steel." The 2011 movie belongs to a category of 2010s genre releases that performed well enough to not be considered a failure, but not so well that it spawned a franchise. And to think it all started with a phone charger.

Peyton Reed's 2023 superhero flick "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," the 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has, as of this writing, earned over $475 million worldwide. Sadly, because MCU films typically cost so much to make, that $475 million is considered only a middling box office run. "Quantumania" reportedly cost a massive $200 million, before marketing, meaning that the film broke even at best. Additionally, the film wasn't well-liked by critics, earning only a 46 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is low, but it's especially notable, given that most of the previous 30 films in the series were pretty much given a passing grade.
"Quantumania" was busy and strange. The plot took the title heroes (Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly) and their family into a microscopic dimension. The bulk of the film takes place in the teeny-tiny Quantum Realm, a dimension populated by a myriad of sentient alien beings. The Michelle...

Peyton Reed's 2023 superhero film "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" saw the title heroes (Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly), and a few compatriots, using an extraordinary sci-fi device to shrink down so infinitesimally small they enter a microscopic dimension called the Quantum Realm. In the Quantum Realm, they find a whole civilization of bizarre humanoid and non-humanoid creatures, as well as the evil rising empire of a villainous tyrant named Kang (the recently-fired Jonathan Majors). Kang had been imprisoned in the Quantum Realm, and if he can escape, he would cause mayhem in the normal-sized world. "Quantumania" was expensive to make and wasn't terribly well-received, marking a definite downturn in the seemingly unending success of the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The animated series ‘What If…?’ has returned with another grisly take as it hones in for a Christmas release. The trailer for ‘What If…?’ brings yet another stream of alternate dark realities to light, where a whole array of endless possibilities exists if even some very minute changes had taken place in the original MCU timeline.
Introducing new heroes and villains to the audiences, Season 2 may be a bit different than what audiences have been accustomed to in the past decade, given that there are new characters who they may not be familiar with or they might not be in the place they’re expected to be.
Nonetheless, it will feature the same explosive action, comedy, and other elements that the franchise is known for, albeit with a darker turn as ‘What If…?’ as can be affirmed by its title, focuses on alternate realities and different possibilities, most of which...

This year’s Rhode Island Comic Con guest list boasted big names like Anthony Daniels, Carl Weathers, Carrie-Anne Moss, Christina Ricci, Evangeline Lilly, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Linda Hamilton, and Marissa Tomei, to name a few, alongside hundreds of vendors and artists.

Theatergoers who attended “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” the concert film that has already amassed $231 million worldwide, were treated to a special trailer for “The Marvels,” the upcoming Marvel Studios superhero extravaganza — cut specifically for the “Eras Tour” audience.
They also probably walked by a poster for “The Marvels” — with stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani proudly beaming — since theaters were encouraged to place marketing materials for the movie in front of auditoriums playing “The Eras Tour.”
It was all part of a coordinated effort by Disney to further fuel the female-led moviegoing momentum that started with the summer blockbuster “Barbie” and continued with “Eras” last month. But leaping onto that same speeding train may be an insurmountable goal, even for Captain Marvel.

Real Steel was released well over a decade at this point, but fans of the sci-fi boxing movie are still campaigning for a sequel. One of those fans is Anthony Mackie, who actually starred alongside Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly in the 2011 movie.
During an interview with Inverse, Anthony Mackie mentioned that he actually calls Real Steel director Shawn Levy once or twice a year to push for a sequel. That’s commitment. “It was supposed to be a trilogy,” Mackie said. “It was supposed to be three or four movies together.“
Real Steel starred Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when robots took over the ring. When he hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goto) to build and train a championship contender. Anthony Mackie played Finn, a friend of Charlie’s who owns an underground robot boxing arena.
During an interview with Inverse, Anthony Mackie mentioned that he actually calls Real Steel director Shawn Levy once or twice a year to push for a sequel. That’s commitment. “It was supposed to be a trilogy,” Mackie said. “It was supposed to be three or four movies together.“

With Marvel getting ready to launch their big new event series Secret Invasion on Disney+, it’s time to take stock of the MCU and wonder how many twists we might be in for in this latest offering. While the plot of the comic focuses on some heavy Marvel Universe hitters being unmasked as Skrull infiltrators, the trailers for the TV adaptation have so far focused on a rogue faction of Skrulls headed up by Kingsley Ben-Adir’s villainous Gravik, along with some Skrull allies we already know, like Captain Marvel’s Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).
However, the plot synopsis for the show does still claim that the shapeshifting Skrull faction are attempting to infiltrate Earth in positions of power around the world, and it’s likely that Marvel has been keeping some of Secret Invasion’s biggest secrets away from prying eyes (and leaks), so...

Chris Hemsworth told GQ UK that he’s been thinking about death a lot more lately as his 40s quickly approach and in the aftermath of his “Avengers” co-star Jeremy Renner suffering a near-fatal accident in January. Renner was hospitalized with blunt chest trauma, over 30 broken bones and more after his snow plow ran him over at the start of the year.
“We were all on our ‘Avengers’ text chain, we were all chatting. And it was wild,” Hemsworth said about the immediate aftermath of Renner’s accident. “None of us really knew how serious it was. I think anything like that, it’s an immediate realization of ‘Wow, any of us can go at any minute…’”
Hemsworth added, “We’re getting to the age now where we’re going to start losing people we love.”

Abby Ryder Fortson's Cassie Lang is one of the best parts of Peyton Reed's first two "Ant-Man" films. 2015's "Ant-Man" introduces Cassie as an eight-year-old ball of energy who sees nothing but the best in her father, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, even when the rest of the world dismisses him as an ex-con. She's also weird in a way that rings believable for a kid, nerding out over the "ugly" bunny doll Scott gifts her on her birthday.
The next time we see Cassie in 2018's "Ant-Man and the Wasp," she's grown up enough to have some thoughts on her dad's quasi-romantic relationship with his work buddy, Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne, but not so much as to strain credibility. These scenes rely heavily on Rudd and Fortson to work. Fortunately, their strong chemistry is more than enough to fully sell this father-daughter dynamic despite limited screen time.

Kathryn Bigelow won an Oscar for directing “The Hurt Locker,” based on Mark Boal’s screenplay. Boal, a journalist, was embedded in Iraq with a bomb squad for two weeks in 2004. The film, streaming on Plex June 1, is a portrait of men in combat, the Iraq War, and the adrenaline that drives some soldiers to succeed at war, but fail at peace. “The Hurt Locker,” shot in a pseudo-documentary style, won additional Oscars for writing, editing, sound editing, and sound. Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Evangeline Lilly, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, and Guy Pearce star.

Vanity Fair has published an excerpt from a new book examining Hollywood’s corrosive culture rips the lid off “Lost”, revealing a shocking pattern of toxic behaviour behind the scenes of the hit series.
In a chapter from the upcoming book Burn It Down: Power, Complicity, and a Call for Change in Hollywood, Vanity Fair contributor Maureen Ryan spoke with writers and cast members across all six seasons, including cast member Harold Perrineau and writer Monica Owusu-Breen, both of whom are Black.
According to a “Lost” writer, members of the writing staff were instructed to focus on the “hero characters,” who were Locke (Terry O’Quinn), Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) — all white characters. When Perrineau questioned his character’s storyline in relation to the white characters, he claimed that a “Lost” producer told him, “Well, this is just how audiences follow stories,” and those characters were “relatable.

“Lost” showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confront several accusations of racism, toxicity and more that allegedly occurred during the making of the ABC hit series in Maureen Ryan’s new book, “Burn It Down,” an excerpt of which has been published on Vanity Fair’s website. In the excerpt, Lindelof admits that he “failed” in regards to providing “safety and comfort” in the show’s writers’ room.
Several writers and actors spoke to Ryan about the alleged toxic work environment on “Lost,” which ran for six seasons on ABC from 2004-2010. Harold Perrineau, who starred as Michael Dawson in the first two seasons of “Lost,” spoke bluntly about his white co-stars getting the show’s major storylines. As he put it, “It became pretty clear that I was the Black guy. Daniel [Dae Kim] was the Asian guy. And then you had Jack and Kate and Sawyer.”

“Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof is addressing allegations of racism during the six seasons the ABC series ran.
The Emmy-winning ensemble series centered on the survivors of a surreal plane crash and ran from 2004 to 2010. Josh Holloway, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Naveen Andrews, Daniel Dae Kim, and Harold Perrineau were among the core cast members.
In an excerpt from Maureen Ryan’s upcoming book “Burn It Down: Power, Complicity, and a Call for Change in Hollywood,” as published by Vanity Fair, Lindelof responded to claims of racial bias on the creative, with allegedly racist remarks behind the scenes that seemed to affect plotlines, including the exit of single father Michael (Perrineau).

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" marks the end of the space hero team in the form we've come to know and love. We'll see Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) again, as we learned at the end of the film, but it feels like the end of an era. It's been sad but fun for many of us to go back and rewatch the first film and see where it all came from.
Before 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy" came out, it was mostly only hardcore comic book fans who even knew who these characters were. Gunn, of course, knows his comics, as has been evidenced by the work he's done, both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now the DC Universe, which he's now running with producer Peter Safran. It stands to reason that an injury he tweeted about from the set of that first offering was so ... Marvel-ous. His tweet has since been deleted,...

Note: Spoilers ahead for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”
There’s a new Thanos in town, and he’s not out to dust people — he’s out to conquer them. Kang the Conqueror makes his first appearance in the Ant-Man threequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and thanks to the movie’s post-credit scenes, we meet even more versions of him.
Yes, once again, Kang the Conqueror is not the only Kang we need to worry about. You might remember that actor Jonathan Majors first appeared not technically as Kang, but as He Who Remains in Season 1 of “Loki.” He Who Remains explains that he’s spent most of his existence keeping his variants at bay, and doing so meant controlling every timeline in existence.
Unfortunately, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) doesn’t appreciate that He Who Remains chose to play god, no matter the reason, and kills him — thus, opening...

Ant-Man and the Wasp return for a second sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a new adventure that’s designed to kick off the next phase of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). As such, it’s a visually inventive, comics-inspired tale that properly introduces a major new villain and delivers action, humour and emotion in the mighty Marvel manner.
Directed once again by Peyton Reed (who helmed both previous Ant-Man movies), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania picks up some time after the events of Avengers: Endgame. While enjoying his new-found life as a hero, Scott reconnects with his now teenage daughter, Cassie (Kathryn Newton), only to discover that she has made contact with microscopic universe the Quantum Realm, where Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) was once trapped.

We’re shrinking down once again, and as Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to streaming, it’s time to look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s divisive Phase 5 debut. Paul Rudd’s pint-sized hero joins Og Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor in the exclusive trilogy club, while boosting the Multiverse Saga forward.
Despite Quantumania putting the pieces in place for the franchise-shattering Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), some argue you could’ve skipped the end without missing much – apart from Modok’s CGI butt. Jonathan Majors has parted ways with his talent management team after being charged with assault and harassment, a report claims.
The actor, who starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed III earlier this year, was arrested in New York City last month.
Police responded to an emergency call regarding a “domestic dispute” at an apartment in Chelsea on the morning of 25 March.
Majors was charged with several counts of assault in the third degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count of harassment in the second degree.
Majors has denied the reports and his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, claimed that the woman involved has recanted her allegations days after the arrest.

While it’s easy to assume that Jeremy Renner would likely want to get rid of the massive snowplow that crushed him back in January, leaving him with more than 30 broken bones and several surgeries, it turns out that the actor has other plans in mind — to keep the 14,000-plus-pound machine.
“My mom wants to … light it on fire — and it would be a whole party, lighting it on fire,” he told Jimmy Kimmel, who served as the moderator during a Q&a session after Tuesday night’s premiere of his Disney+ series “Rennervations”.
“But no, that thing’s amazing,” he continued, revealing his intentions to keep the snowplow. “I love this thing.”

When you’re suffering, something as simple as a little laugh can go a long way. While making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jeremy Renner explained how his Avengers co-star Paul Rudd made his day with an awkward fake Cameo video.
As we know, Jeremy Renner suffered multiple severe injuries earlier this year after he was crushed by a snowplow. During his gruelling recovery period, Jeremy Renner told Jimmy Kimmel that Paul Rudd sent him a video message. “Anybody know Cameo, where you can pay money and they get some movie star to say, ‘Hey, happy birthday?’” Renner said. “He made a fake one — I didn’t even ask him to — he made a fake one like I’d paid him money for a Cameo.” Renner then shared the video, which you can check out below (the fake Cameo clip starts at 9:06).

In his first interview since his horrific snow plough accident, Jeremy Renner revealed that his Marvel co-star and friend Anthony Mackie stayed at his bedside while he was in hospital.
Renner and Mackie met when co-starring in the 2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker. The pair reconvened in the Avengers franchise, where Renner plays Hawkeye and Mackie plays Falcon.
“It’s the actions,” Renner told ABC’s Diane Sawyer asked about “the best thing anyone said to you” after the accident.
“Mackie was there at my bedside in Reno,” he said.
After Renner was crushed by his 14-000-pound snowplough on New Year’s Day, the Avengers stars assembled to wish him a speedy recovery.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ant-Man star Paul Rudd, who appeared alongside Renner in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, said his co-star was doing “well”. “He’s doing well. He’s the best guy and he’s awesome.

The ABC drama Lost kept fans and critics hooked for six seasons. It wasn’t always positive. Not everyone was satisfied with the show’s answers to its own mysteries, but they kept watching to the end and many were. One development that did not go over well was the characters of Nikki and Paolo.

On March 28, 2007, Lost listened to fans and killed off Nikki and Paolo. Ironically, “Expose” turned out to be the best Nikki and Paolo episode. Here’s what happened:
The introduction of Nikki and Paolo on ‘Lost’
Lost was about the survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious island. The plane already included a large ensemble cast of survivors. Each week, Lost would focus on a different character and flash back to their lives before the island, informing some of the action on the island.
