Exclusive: The Affair star Ruth Wilson and Peaky Blinders and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande actor Daryl McCormack have been set to lead new blue-chip BBC and Showtime series The Woman in the Wall, inspired by Ireland’s controversial Magdalene Laundries.
In the 6×60’ gothic thriller, two-time BAFTA nominee Wilson will play Lorna Brady, who wakes one morning to find a corpse in her house. Brady has no idea who the dead woman is or if she herself might be responsible for the apparent murder, because she has long suffered from extreme bouts of sleepwalking. The episodes began during her teenage years when she was incarcerated in one of Ireland and the Catholic Church’s notorious Magdalene Laundries, where ‘fallen women’ were sent to atone for “sins” such as adultery and teenage pregnancy.

Narrativia is partnering with Motive Pictures and Endeavor Content for a series of adaptations of the “Discworld” fantasy novels.
The series, written by Terry Pratchett, is set on a flat planet balanced on the backs of four elephants standing on the back of a giant turtle. The series began in 1983 and ended in 2015 following Pratchett’s death, with “The Shepherd’s Crown.”
Rhianna Pratchett, co-director of Narrativia, said, “’Discworld’ teems with unique characters, witty narrative and incredible literary tropes, and we feel these should be realized on screen in a form that my father would be proud of. It’s wonderful to embark on this journey with Motive and Endeavor Content, who both perfectly share our vision to make this a reality.”

Raw, producer of Sundance breakout documentary Three Identical Strangers, is partnering with Film4 and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (Ske) on a narrative feature version of the picture.
The Sundance title, about three strangers who inadvertently discover that they are identical triplets separated at birth, won the festival’s Special Jury Prize for Documentary Storytelling.
Raw, Film4 and Ske will develop the new narrative feature following what they describe as “fierce, multi-studio competitive bidding in the life rights of Robert Shafran and David Kellman,” who are two of the identical triplets at the heart of the documentary.
Raw’s Katherine Butler and Dimitri Doganis and Ske’s Sidney Kimmel and John Penotti will produce the as-yet untitled narrative feature film. Film4’s Daniel Battsek and Sam Lavender, Submarine Entertainment’s Josh Braun and Dan Braun, and the doc’s director Tim Wardle will serve as executive producers. Mark O’Connor will oversee development on behalf of Ske.

The critically acclaimed documentary “Three Identical Strangers,” which made a splash at Sundance, is to be adapted into a feature film. London-based Raw, which produced “Strangers,” is partnering with Film4 and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment on the project, which centers on the true story of identical triplets who were separated at birth and who stumbled across each other as young men by accident.
“Three Identical Strangers,” directed by Tim Wardle, won the Special Jury Prize for Documentary Storytelling at the Sundance Film Festival. It was released in the U.S. on June 29, and continues to expand into more theaters.
The documentary recounts the astonishing reunion of separated New York brothers Robert Shafran, David Kellman and Eddy Galland as 19-year-olds, and the revelations and events, both heartwarming and disturbing, that followed. After its success at Sundance, the film sparked a “fierce, multi-studio” bidding war for the rights to the life stories of Shafran and Kellman,...

I've been fascinated with the life and work of legendary filmmaking pioneer Charlie Chaplin ever since I was a teenager. I read so many books about him and his life and I love the Robert Downey Jr. biopic Chaplin. The stuff he was doing with filmmaking in Hollywood was innovative, entertaining, and the stories he told were wonderful.
Altitude and Showtime have announced that they will be developing a documentary called Chaplin, from directors Peter Middleton and James Spinney, three-time BAFTA nominees for Notes on Blindness. The doc is described as follows:
Chaplin is both the ultimate rags-to-riches story and a revealing, poignant and definitive portrait of cinema’s most iconic figure. Groundbreaking, controversial, outspoken, visionary; for decades he was the most famous man in the world – but who was the real Charlie Chaplin?
The doc is getting support from the BFI National Archive’s world-class collections and Chaplin’s World by Grévin.
