White Lotus and One Day breakout Leo Woodall is leading an Apple TV+ thriller opposite Black Adam star Quintessa Swindell about a young maths graduate who discovers the secret to prime numbers, with Ridley Scott producing.
Woodall will play Edward Brook in Prime Target and Scott’s indie Scott Free is producing with New Regency. The show is created by Sherlock scribe Steve Thompson.
Woodall, who is having a moment following performances in HBO’s White Lotus and new Netflix adaptation One Day, is a maths graduate on the verge of succeeded in finding a pattern in prime numbers, which would hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders (Swindell), a female Nsa agent, who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on mathematicians’ behavior.

Of all of William Shakespeare’s classic works, Macbeth must surely be amongst his most famous.
Certainly, in the more than 400 years since its first publication, it has been one of the most frequently adapted; revived regularly on stage and re-envisioned time and again in the age of cinema and television.
Now comes a bold and daring version starring Academy-Award nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave) and Academy-Award winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose).
Directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown), MacBeth had its World Premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and was the final movie to screen in Competition.
In his review, Guy Lodge (Variety) praises the director’s “thrillingly elemental new adaptation. Fearsomely visceral and impeccably performed, it’s a brisk, bracing update, even as it remains exquisitely in period.”

The rise of Michael Fassbender has been one of the best things to see in recent years, with his acclaimed performance in 12 Years a Slave earning him the Oscar nomination he was robbed of on Steve McQueen’s Shame. Now the actor is turning his sights to Shakespeare, in Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of the classic tragedy, Macbeth.
StudioCanal have announced that production on Macbeth is officially underway, with ScreenDaily revealing that the film is set to shoot for seven weeks in England and Scotland.
Fassbender takes the lead as the titular general-turned-King of Scotland, with Marion Cotillard, Sean Harris, Paddy Considine, David Thewlis, Jack Reynor, and Elizabeth Debicki starring alongside him.
Cotillard of course takes the female lead as Lady Macbeth, with Harris taking on the role of Macduff and Considine playing Banquo.
Macbeth is the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire.

Aaron Johnson's new horror drama is among the hotly awaited premieres on the Croisette
Teenage film star Aaron Johnson, fresh from his success as the fledgling superhero in Kick-Ass, is to fly to Cannes on Friday for the premiere of a ground-breaking thriller which threatens to be the most disturbing film of the festival.
The actor is the villain at the centre of Chatroom, the first in a new breed of cyber-thriller, directed by Hideo Nakata, the Japanese creator of the Ring series of horror movies.
The film tells the story of a group of disaffected young people who become friends in an internet chatroom before being drawn into a dangerous psychological game by Johnson's arch-manipulator.
Adapted by Irish playwright Enda Walsh from his 2005 play of the same name, the film recreates the deceptive world of virtual reality by having the lead characters only interact with each other online.

The 2009 BAFTA Award nominees have been announced and Slumdog Millionaire, along with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, leads the way with 11 nominations with The Dark Knight close behind with nine. However, at the top of the pile it is immediately noticeable that The Dark Knight did not get a Best Film nomination as all the usual suspects are there, but The Reader is added to the pack as one of its five nominations. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) is considered a lead actor at the BAFTAs and earns a nomination in the category while he is competing Stateside for a Supporting nom. I believe he is more of a lead actor than a supporting, but Fox Searchlight obviously sees the supporting category as the easier place to get him a nomination and has pushed him in the category as a result. Other than that, the usuals are there with Brad Pitt earning a nomination,...
