It's been almost a year since we last saw Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding in the Mayfair Witches, but Season 2 is coming.
Mayfair Witches Season 1 ended with some bombshell moments, from Rowan's father's identity being uncovered to the birth of Rowan's child, and ultimately, the powerful line, "You can't control me," which resonates with all of Rowan's character.
This exciting story will continue in Mayfair Witches Season 2 as we follow Rowan and Lasher (Jack Huston) in their next journey together, and it's going to be one for the books. That is if it's anything like the second book in Anne Rice's series.
There are also some new faces joining the cast, so let's dive in and see what Season 2 has in store for us.

Anne Rice’s biggest claim to fame will always be “Interview With the Vampire” and the ensuing Vampire Chronicles. However, most casual horror fans don’t know that her impressive catalog also features a multigenerational saga about a family of witches. Beginning with “The Witching Hour,” Rice wrote a trilogy of novels following a matrilineal line of magical women. AMC’s Mayfair Witches brings this saga to the fore with a star-studded adaptation of Rice’s dense source material. Alexandra Daddario stars as Rowan Fielding, a California brain surgeon and the 13th Mayfair witch who was whisked away at birth and knows nothing of her family’s occult history. Annabeth Gish is her mother Dierdre, an unfortunate prisoner in the family’s New Orleans home, and Jack Huston is the mysterious Lasher, a demonic presence haunting the women of the Mayfair line.

Anne Rice’s most vividly unapologetic ambitious creation takes no prisoners as she is finally freed through bondage in Mayfair Witches‘ season finale, “What Rough Beast.” Dr. Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) claims her powers and her birthright, several times over, before the guest credits finish running.
Uprooted from her life as a rising neurosurgeon, Rowan learned everything she was raised to believe was a lie, and is the, desperately hidden, foretold “13 Witch” of the old and powerful Mayfair family. As newly appointed designee, Rowan not only inherits the family’s riches, but their curse. Lasher (Jack Huston) is a mysterious entity, increasingly entwined with the family for generations, and Rowan has been evading his advances. Everyone has her limits, in this installment Rowan learns she has none.

The popular supernatural series has been a hit on both AMC and AMC+, and its first season is now the most viewed on AMC+ over its first 30 days (per AMC Networks). That’s pretty impressive when you consider it was up against the final season of The Walking Dead.

At a time when TV shows are being cancelled left and right, it’s always nice to report that one has been renewed. AMC is all-in on their small screen Anne Rice Universe, and we’ve learned this morning that “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches” has just been renewed for Season 2.
The brand new series is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s novels in the “Mayfair Witches” saga, and it premiered January 8 on AMC and AMC+.
AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” was also recently renewed for a second season.
“The success of both Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire once again illustrates the strength and mastery of Anne Rice’s work,” said AMC’s Mark Johnson. “The fact that these first two shows are performing so splendidly with a TV audience gives us much pride in what we’ve already done and great anticipation for the storytelling opportunities yet to come.

The cable network is bringing back the series, which along with Interview with a Vampire is part of its extended Anne Rice universe, after becoming its number one new series premiere on its streaming service AMC+.
This comes despite a plethora of recent cancelations at AMC Networks. The company pulled Demascus and Invitation to a Bonfire as well as second seasons of Pantheon, Moonhaven and 61st Street, which were in various stages of completion and production, as part of a major cost-cutting drive.

"Mayfair Witches," the new AMC+ series based on the book trilogy "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" by Anne Rice, has been looking well outside the realm of supernatural TV dramas for inspiration in season 1. You wouldn't necessarily expect to hear showrunner Esta Spalding and executive producer Michelle Ashford namecheck a 1999 Gulf War movie, but that's exactly what they did in Vanessa Armstrong's /Film interview with the duo.
"Mayfair Witches" stars Alexandra Daddario as Dr. Rowan Mayfair, a neurosurgeon who uncovers her own family link to a dynasty of witches. She's unaware of her powers at first, and this leads to her looking inside people's brains and "popping arteries like bubble gum," as Danielle Ryan put it in her "Mayfair Witches" review. No need for an endoscopy when you have a witch on the case who can show the audience what a person's dying body looks like inside.

This post contains spoilers for the first three episodes of "Mayfair Witches."
"Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches" is AMC's second installment in what they hope will be an expanding Anne Rice universe. The story follows a surgeon named Rowan (Alexandria Daddario) who finds out she's actually from a multi-generational family of witches, with the first season adapting "The Witching Hour," Anne Rice's thousand-page first novel in her "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" series.
Converting such a long book into eight episodes is no small feat, and when I talked with "Mayfair Witches" showrunner Esta Spalding during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, she acknowledged that not everything in the first book made it into the season. "We had a whiteboard that was the greatest hits that we had to use, and of course we couldn't use them all," she told me.

This article contains spoilers for Mayfair Witches episode 2.
Mayfair Witches episode 2 is called “The Dark Place,” which is where magic practitioners go when they’re thinking of breaking bad. The episode opens in the home of a midwife, practicing the closest thing to medicine to be had in Donnelaith, Scotland in 1681. She’s treating a wound with willow bark and burdock. Healing arts have come a long way, yet some things never change.
The series stars Alexandra Daddario as Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neuroscientist so gifted she can think people to death. The story comes from the mind of Anne Rice, best known for her Vampire Chronicles, which is being chronicled on AMC’s series Interview with the Vampire. The Lives of the Mayfair Witches is Rice’s most ambitious nonvampire work, a trilogy of books which gets its sustenance from a bloodline of witches going back for centuries.

AMC’s Anne Rice TV universe is proving to be worth the investment, with the latest show in the lineup, “Mayfair Witches,” dethroning the first title, “Interview With the Vampire,” as AMC+’s biggest ever new series premiere.
Debuting at 9 p.m. Jan. 8 on AMC and AMC+, along with a multi-network simulcast across AMC Networks’ BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV and We TV, the first episode of the Alexandra Daddario-led “Mayfair Witches” garnered more viewers during its first five days of availability on the streaming platform than “Interview,” the previous record holder, had over that same window after its Oct. 2 premiere.
Looking at linear ratings alone, the “Mayfair Witches” premiere drew 1.7 million viewers, per Nielsen’s Live + 3 day data. Those returns make “Mayfair” a top 10 cable drama among adults 18-49 and 25-54 for the 2022-2023 TV season.

AMC’s Immortal Universe will connect, according to “Mayfair Witches” executive producers Esta Spalding and Mark Johnson (the latter also serves as EP on the network’s hit “Interview With the Vampire”). During the gothic-tinged thriller-drama show’s panel at the Winter Television Critics Association press tour Tuesday in Pasadena, Johnson said there are “ongoing conversations” to connect the two adaptations.
“I think if we continue, you will see a lot of connections, both in terms of characters, in terms of geography — some of them sort of fun, some of them almost like Easter eggs, and we very much want to tie the worlds together in a way that makes sense,” he said.

This Mayfair Witches review contains No spoilers.
Anne Rice has been casting a spell over horror fans for generations. While her Vampire Chronicles has become part of modern mythology, other magical creations sit in a darker corner. Mayfair Witches invites them to come out of the shadows. The AMC series is based on Rice’s trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and maintains the novel series’ spiritual nature, if not all the plot points, or characters.
Loyalists to Rice’s original unholy texts may worry how faithful the series will remain to the book series. Oh, ye of misplaced faith, Mayfair Witches commits only minor blasphemies. It restructures the storytelling for TV consumption, but maintains the atmosphere of slow metaphysical intrusions into reality. Rice’s personal style of horror doesn’t come from the supernatural incidents, but in horrors hidden in the mind, and the interpersonal relationships which can only...

On first impression, AMC’s Mayfair Witches appears as lush as the overgrown yard of the New Orleans bungalow where much of it takes place.
The plot, adapted from Anne Rice’s novels, centers on a preternaturally gifted surgeon named Rowan (The White Lotus‘ Alexandra Daddario) who discovers she’s heir to a dynasty of women with special powers. As she explores her family tree, each gnarled root seems to branch off into knottier tangles still — ultimately yielding a saga laden with sex, death and magic, spanning hundreds of years and thousands of miles.
But amid that sordid lore, creators Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex) and Esta Spalding (On Becoming a God in Central Florida) make the fatal mistake of prioritizing mythology and mystery over personality and plot. As a result, while there’s a great deal happening onscreen at every turn — secrets to uncover, murders to solve, dances to...

Review: In October 2022, Anne Rice’s most famous novel, Interview with the Vampire, was reimagined as a television series. I found the updates and changes to the classic story, adapted once before starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, to be far more faithful to Rice’s books and a great introduction to adapting her extensive Vampire Chronicles series. Now, another one of Rice’s series, which crosses over with the Vampire Chronicles, is getting its turn on AMC. Mayfair Witches, based on a trilogy of books, is the second installment in what AMC...

While "Mayfair Witches" won't be out in time for this year's Halloween festivities, it looks like it has a shot at becoming a future spooky-season classic. Alexandra Daddario takes the lead in AMC's onscreen adaption of Anne Rice's sprawling supernatural trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and the trailer, out on Oct. 6, is full of intrigue from start to finish.
"Mayfair Witches" stars Daddario as Rowan, a young neurosurgeon who finds out she comes from a family of witches, resulting in some formidable powers of her own. She is then forced to grapple with a spirit that has haunted her family - and occasionally worked in tandem with them - for generations.
The trailer's release comes on the heels of another small-screen adaption of a Rice classic. In May 2020, Variety reported that AMC had acquired the rights to two of her beloved series, the...
