Five months after one of Linkin Park’s former bassists sued the band over unpaid royalties connected to their Hybrid Theory reissue, the group’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
In the motion filed Tuesday, Linkin Park’s legal team cited a number of “defects” with Kyle Christner’s lawsuit, most notably that the statute of limitations had “long since passed,” Billboard reports.

A bassist has filed a lawsuit against Linkin Park over credit and unpaid royalties on more than 20 songs, as reported by Billboard.
In a complaint filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday (November 8th), Kyle Christner claimed he has “never been paid a penny” for his work on songs included in the Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary box set released by Linkin Park in 2020. According to Christner, one of the band’s representatives contacted him last April and said he was owed royalties for songs included in the collection. “You get mechanical royalties for 3 demos and the 6-song Hybrid Theory EP that you performed on,” the email allegedly stated.
Christner said in the lawsuit that he believes his work appears on “more than twenty songs” in the 2020 re-release. However, when he tried to reach back out to the person who contacted him, they “went dark.”

Brad Pitt, Kristen Stewart and Channing Tatum might have new movies opening this weekend but if you like your entertainment a little edgier, Paragon Pictures is releasing “Mall,” based on the debut novel of celebrated playwright Eric Bogosian. “Mall” marks the directorial debut of Linkin Park's Joseph Hahn, who worked off a script that Bogosian's “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” co-star Vincent D'Onofrio co-wrote with Sam Bisbee and Joe Vinciguerra. The well-made indie movie follows five characters whose paths cross over the course of one fateful evening in a shopping mall that has come under siege from an armed lunatic.

With so many hard "R" ratings in today's MPAA ratings bulletin it's mildly comical to me that one of them is not Dracula Untold, the Luke Evans starrer that will take a new look at the blood sucking king of all vampires and deliver it in PG-13 fashion. Ugh. As for those hard "R" movies, let's begin with Antoine Fuqua's The Equalizer of which he spoke with Collider regarding making a hard "R" rated film saying: The violence you witness is Denzel doing it and we're taking some visual effects and doing some things and you see something happen it's happening in front of you as opposed to cutting away and doing a bunch of tricks. It's in front of you. So it's hard not to make it a hard 'R' if you see a guy get punched and teeth wind up in someone's knuckles, you know what I...

The guy is crazy talented and I know he's been trying to direct a feature film for years. I'm happy to report that it's finally happened for him and he just made a distribution deal for it.
The movie is called Mall, and it's based on Eric Bogosian's 2001 novel of the same name. Kids. Such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape or Reservoir Dogs before it, and such as Winter’s Bone, Blue Valentine and Fruitvale Station after it, Larry Clark & Harmony Korine’s seminal film is forever connected in “spirit” to the lieu where it received its secret midnight premiere screening in 1995. The Sundance Film Festival might be known as the birthplace of U.S indie filmmaking innovation, avant-gardism, a larger definition of the low budgeted film response to Hollywood in not only narrative but in the non-fiction form, but it is a festival made strong by its renewal and familiarity. That close acquaintanceness exists in Kids‘ starlets Rosario Dawson and Chloë Sevigny filmography/career path trajectory and connection to Park City (both have several indie films slated for ’14 – of which I’ve included in our predictions list) and it is that “familiarity” that is visibly noticeable in how I map out my annual predictions list.

German Distro Splendid Also Picks Up Machete Kills And Sin City 2, Schwarzenegger’s Ten
In some late-coming news from the Cannes Film Festival, German film distributor Splendid has snapped up the distribution rights for the impending actioner Ten starring former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s apparently decided to give Hollywood a try after a lofty political career. This same distributor has also bought the distro rights to director Robert Rodriguez’s pair of upcoming sequels, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Machete Kills.
This news goes from “Meh,” to “Huh, okay, yeah,” but then it veers sharply into “For the love of God, kill me” territory with this tidbit from The Hollywood Reporter: There is a film also forthcoming entitled Mall about a group of folks trapped in a shopping mall during a shooting incident. This film stars two of my absolute favorites, Peter Stormare and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Variety reports that Gina Gershon (Showgirls) and Peter Stormare (pictured right; Constantine, Fargo) have stepped in to replace Chelsea Handler and Eric Bogosian (the latter wrote the 2001 novel on which the indie film is based) due to scheduling conflicts. They join the previously announced Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket; The Cell), Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless"), James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom), India Menuez, Mimi Rogers (Ginger Snaps, "The X-Files"), and Gbenga Akinnagbe ("The Wire").
Bogosian's debut novel follows five suburban strangers whose paths cross over the course of one hellish night at a shopping mall, where a drug-addled madman (Frecheville) goes on a shooting spree.

The lead love interest for Richard Lagravenese's "Beautiful Creatures" — an adaptation of the young adult supernatural romance novel (also a series) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl — has been replaced. Jack O'Connell has left the project due to scheduling conflicts, and Alden Ehrenreich is stepping in.
The "Twixt" and "Tetro" actor will be starring as Ethan — in love with local girl Lena. Both teens uncover dark secrets about their families and the town they live in. Ethan also happens to have a nasty ex-girlfriend, who enacts some "Mean Girls-style" revenge against Lena. We previously reported that Jeremy Irons is also starring in the film, along with Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Thomas Mann, and Emmy Rossum. Are you in the mood for a supernatural star-crossed lovers story, or have you had your fill of all things "Twilight-esque" for a while?

In a Hollywood explosion seldom seen, Joe Eszterhas, the screenwriter for The Maccabees, the Jewish historical film Mel Gibson is making, published a nine-page letter accusing Gibson of being anti-Semitic and just doing the film to fix his reputation. Mel Gibson published a response saying Eszterhas was unprofessional and delivering a late, substandard script (that Warner Bros rejected).

There hasn't been a good psycho on a killing spree movie in quite some time, but that could be changing relatively soon thanks to the new flick on its way called Mall.
According to Bloody Disgusting, actor Vincent D'Onofrio (pictured right; Full Metal Jacket; The Cell) is both executive producing and starring in Joe Hahn's (best known as Linkin Park’s DJ) genre pic that heads to the Mall.
Penned by Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee, the indie project that’s described as a dark drama follows the empty and sordid lives of various mall-goers which are brought into stark relief when a disgruntled former tuxedo shop employee goes on a massive killing spree. The flick will feature the music of Linkin Park.
Doing some digging, we discovered that the pic will also star Cameron Monaghan ("Shamless"), James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom), India Menuez, and Michael Kenneth Williams (The Road,...

Last week the news emerged that Vincent D'Onofrio would be heading to jail as the deputy warden of Sylvester Stallone's impregnable prison The Tomb. Before that however, D'Onofrio is taking a detour round a Mall. The 'dark drama' is being directed by Joe Hahn, who's better known at the moment as Linkin Park's DJ.The premise is that a group of teenage mallrats have the peace of their emo-moping shattered when a disgruntled former employee of a tuxedo shop goes on a murderous rampage. He was, clearly, one step closer to the edge and about to break.D'Onofrio's role hasn't been revealed so far. It's doubtful that he's one of the teens, obviously, but we've yet to learn if he's the gunman, or a mall official, or a cop, or a concerned parent, or another shopper caught up in the carnage, or a vigilante who crawls around the...

USA Today have got a new image of Shockwave, the main villain of the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
The first images of Shockwave, who wasn’t in either of the first two films, surfaced back in April, and showed that he’s been given a pretty hefty makeover, to become what will no doubt be one of the strongest Decepticons, and most difficult to bring down, that we’ve seen.
USA Today also spoke to producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who was a producer on both the first two, and he said of Shockwave,
“He’s always been a mean, mean guy, but he’s even more menacing and more dangerous. He’s bigger, badder, with a greater arsenal.
“It’s crazy spectacular. Shockwave is just a ball of destruction, pulling whole skyscrapers down. He’s a messy guy to have in our world.
“It’s a huge escalation...

Linkin Park has dropped a music video directed by band member Joe Hahn for "Iridescent", a soundtrack of upcoming movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon". The clip features some explosive scenes of the robot battle in the movie and shots of the band members. Mike Shinoda sits on a throne with a snake curled around his arm, and frontman Chester Bennington is standing tall while screaming out the lyrics.
"As we've gone on, the videos have gotten more abstract [and] I kind of like that," Mike told MTV. "I've been encouraging it with Joe, because ... the stuff that goes on in his head is really interesting and really fun, and I think it probably comes from the fact he grew up reading a lot of comics, watching anime, those things. Especially in a video like this, you can tell the influences are there."

Just when you think you have Chelsea Handler pegged...
The late night comedienne has built an empire on her quick wit and business smarts, including (but not limited to) a late night talk show, production company, best selling books and even a bit of television acting.
After taking on small film roles in "Hop" and the upcoming "This Means War," Deadline reports that Handler will explore her dark side in the film adaptation of "Mall." She will play a restless housewife in the Joe Hahn (of Linkin Park) directed film, starring alongside "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" actor Vincent D'Onofrio.
"This film will be a comment on social violence," D'Onofrio says. "It begins as a man walks through the front door of a suburban mall armed to the teeth, causing five strangers to embark on a night that will change them forever. As the bullets fly, one teenage boy hurtles through...

The best news in March might have been that Bill Murray was likely to play [1] President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a film called Hyde Park on Hudson, which is a slight fictionalization of the first visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to America. Now he is confirmed and Deadline [2] reports that Laura Linney will play Daisy, aka Margaret Suckley, a distant cousin and good friend of Fdr with whom he was enjoying an affair as the royals were visiting. Roger Michell is directing the film from a script that Richard Melson wrote based on his own play. After the break, Vincent D’Onofrio, Chelsea Handler and Eric Bogosian will star Mall, which is adapted from a book by Eric Bogosian, and will be directed by a guy from Linkin Park. Yep. Deadline [3] reports on Mall, which will be the first feature from Joe Hahn, the DJ/sample guy from Linkin Park.

Surprisingly, the directing debut of Linkin Park sound technician Joe Hahn sounds pretty legit; an adaptation of Eric Bogosian's 2001 novel Mall, it features the triumphant return of The Puffy F*ckable and Bogosian's fellow Law & Order: Ci star Vincent D'Onofrio to the big screen. Not to mention Chelsea Handler in her first Real Acting role.

We'd be downright frightened if a more random confluence of talent was announced for a film than "Mall," an adaptation of Eric Bogosian's 2001 novel.
According to Deadline, the film will star Vincent D'Onofrio, Chelsea Handler and Bogosian himself, and be directed by Linkin Park's Joe Hahn, who makes his feature debut. The film revolves around "one crazy day" in a suburban American mall where all hell breaks loose after a guy walks in armed-to-the teeth.
Those not clued in to the multimedia whirlwind that is Bogosian should know that he's most famous for his 1987 play "Talk Radio" about an abrasive radio shock jock who gets assassinated, which was made into a movie (starring Bogosian) directed by Oliver Stone, and had a successful Broadway revival in 2007. He's since gone on to more plays, books, monologues and an acting career, including the villain in "Under Siege 2!"

Megan Fox may not be a continuing part of Michael Bay’s “Transformers” series, but Linkin Park keeps hanging in there with the franchise. The group will supply the end-title song for Paramount’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” marking the third go-round for the rock band and the “Transformers” series. They aren’t writing a song specifically for the movie, however. Instead, current single “Iridescent,” from current album, “A Thousand Suns,” will be revamped for the movie. Previously, “What I’ve Done” appeared in the first “Transformers” film, while “New Divide” was in 2009’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn will...

Linkin Park lending their music to a "Transformers" movie isn't exactly a new thing — the rockers are three-for-three at this point, having just shot a video for "Iridescent,", the lead single off the soundtrack to the upcoming installment of the sci-fi/action franchise, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." What is new this time out is the concept of the video for the song, which, truth be told, is actually pretty confusing ... even to the guys in LP themselves.

I never really get a chance to talk about the Linkin Park on the site, but I'm a fan of the band, and I really enjoy listening to their music. They do a great job of getting me pumped up, and they are a very geek friendly band. They have provided music for the first two Transformers films, and I just always assumed they would be providing music for the third Transformers film as well, and they are. The band has revealed a little teaser of their theme song for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. When you go to the band official website you'll notice a small moon at the top right corner of the page. Click it and it gives fans the 15 second teaser, but you can watch and listen to it below.

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington will start the band's U.S. tour injured. The singer with the "The Catalyst" group has not been able to warm up for shows with his usual rigorous workout because he's still suffering from "stupid" ailments he sustained last year, but promised this will not stop him from giving his all.
"I tore a ligament in my left hand last year, playing basketball at Chuck E. Cheese, which is like a pizza place for kids," he told The Pulse of Radio. "I injured my back a few years ago, that's been acting up. The last show in Australia, I bent over to pack my bags and I tore a little bit of my back again.
