Louis Gossett Jr., Beverly Todd, Tatyana Ali and Kelly Carlson have all booked starring roles in the faith-based drama "The Reason," which is based on a novel of the same by William Sirls, which was published in 2012. "The Reason" follows James Lindy, a blind church minister, who works to restore his small congregation's faith in the midst of adversity, as a mother puts her hope in modern medicine (after losing faith in God, and God's seemingly lack of action) to save her son, who has been recently diagnosed with an aggressive leukemia. Publishers Weekly calls "The Reason" (William Sirls' debut novel) a “skillfully written...

Did you watch long-running FX drama, Nip/Tuck? If you have been missing the graphic, plastic surgery sudser since it was cancelled in 2010, you might be in luck. Creator Ryan Murphy is mulling over a revival of the series. During the "Ryan Murphy and Friends" panel at Entertainment Weekly's EW Fest, Murphy suggested bringing back the series with new writers and recasting the main characters with two female leads.
The original series ran for 100 episodes and starred Dylan Walsh as Dr. Sean McNamara and Julian McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy. Joely Richardson and John Hensley rounded out the main cast for all six seasons. Roma Maffia, Kelly Carlson, Jessalyn Gilsig, and Bruno Campos also starred. A new trailer for Jimmy, a film based on Robert Whitlow’s novel, has arrived.
The family film comes from director Mark Freiburger and stars Ian Colletti, Ted Levine (Monk, The Hills Have Eyes), Patrick Fabian (The Last Exorcism, Big Love, Veronica Mars), Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck, Melrose Place), Bob Gunton, Burgess Jenkins, Stelio Savante, Chuck Carrington, Sharon Lawrence, and Gregory Alan Williams. The plot revolves around “a mentally challenged teenager (Colletti) who interacts with supernatural beings he calls Watchers.” If that means a bunch of Giles’ running around, I’m in. Catch the trailer and the poster for Mark Freiburger's Jimmy, starring Ian Colletti, Ted Levine, Patrick Fabian and Kelly Carlson. The drama's scheduled to find release on June 4th, 2013 and is based on the novel by Robert Whitlow. Jimmy tells of a mentally challenged teenager (Colletti) who interacts with supernatural beings he calls "Watchers". Also in the cast are Bob Gunton, Burgess Jenkins, Stelio Savante, Chuck Carrington, Sharon Lawrence and Gregory Alan Williams. I must say, the trailer's quite moving, and I certainly would recommend catching this film, which looks to have its share of thrills, drama, compassion, love and perseverance.

The Marine (2006) “The Marine” kicks off our “Marine” trilogy with WWE wrestler John Cena (or WWE Superstar John Cena, as they prefer to be called — I think it’s in their contracts or something) as a badass Marine. How badass is Cena’s John Triton? So badass that when we first meet him, dude is saving captured soldiers from an army of Al Qaeda terrorists, having somehow infiltrated the place all by his little lonesome. Apparently he’s some kind of super duper Marine special forces something-or-rather. I had no idea there were such things. But when his higher ups tell him to wait, Triton decides to go ahead and do what badass Marines do — he singlehandedly saves the day. For his troubles, our hero gets kicked out of the Corp. Talk about no respect! Have no fear, though, at least Triton gets to go home to his hot wife (Kelly Carlson). Unfortunately,...

We’re still a long ways away from indulging in a new season of American Horror Story, but that doesn’t mean we can’t devour every little morsel creator Ryan Murphy drops about it. Vulture has an excellent interview with the busy showrunner who is currently developing two feature-films, The Normal Heart and the A-list musical, One Hit Wonders. Murphy is doing this while juggling three television shows: Glee on Fox, American Horror Story on FX, and his promising new family comedy, The New Normal, which was ordered to series at the NBC Upfronts earlier this month.
In the interview, Murphy peeled back the tinfoil on the roast he’s cooking up for Season 2 of Ahs. He reiterated that it centers around Jessica Lange’s new character who is running an institution for the criminally insane. He revealed that Chloë Sevigny (Big Love) will join the cast. The first...

While not truly a graphic or violent show (comparatively speaking), Nip/Tuck is nevertheless a show that not only pushed boundaries, but helped demonstrate the effectiveness of the broader narrative possibilities available to cable network television. The six seasons of the show delivered an outstanding variety of situations, both by way of the clients, and the doctors, and delved into the entire spectrum of the plastic surgery game.
The final season may have gone a little haywire at times, but it still had an ability to pull the pieces together, and overall the show stands above most. While many may be put off by the entire theory of exploring those seeking a bit more beauty by going under the knife, and the doctors who aid their effort, the show never failed to put its own subject matter on the back burner. Like any good show, the description only provides an...

Whenever a network manages to take a series of soap opera quality and turn it into a cultural sensation, you have to take the time to step back and figure out what’s separating it from the shows relegated to early and midday time slots that have similar themes of torrid love affairs, murder, and irrational behavior on the part of every character featured within. What gives Nip/Tuck its little crowbar of separation from the average soap opera is the firm focus on character development, even if it comes from unexpectedly random emotional outbursts that place protagonists at odds with one another unexpectedly? If you were a fan of the show in its original run or are looking to get started on a new series, the recently released Nip/Tuck: The Complete Series on DVD represents four solid seasons of great dramatic television capped with two lesser seasons, leaving...

Chicago – Having started writing about television and DVD right around the time that “Nip/Tuck” premiered on FX and always having lovely contacts at both the network and Warner Brothers, who released the DVDs for the series, I have possibly written about the adventures of Drs. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) and Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) more than any other program. And so I greet the “Complete Series” box set, recently released on DVD, with a tinge of sadness as I say goodbye to a program with definite highlights that somehow never quite lived up to its potential.

The first two seasons of “Nip/Tuck” (it ran for six seasons and produced exactly 100 episodes) were downright fantastic. Rachel Grubb is not only a strikingly beautiful actress and scream queen but she has the business sense to go along with it that makes her the total package (if you ask me). She acts, writes, directs, models and even co-owns her own production company. She's made a name for herself in the independent horror film industry and has even ventured into the comic book world now, a girl after my own black heart! Check out my latest "Versus" as we learn all about who Rachel Grubb is and what she has in store for us.
Brian S- Hi Rachel, first off how'd you get into acting?
Rachel Grubb- It started as something I was doing for fun. I was taking several different classes at the time, and I was having some harmless fun. I got some very positive feedback from my teachers, so I decided to start auditioning for some local films.

Nip/Tuck, the unique and edgy plastic surgery drama of years past, ended its run on television with its 6th season. Back in September 2009, I guessed that Nip/Tuck season 6 was a "meh" and could be missed unless you were a fan of the show - like I was - who just needed to be there for the end of the ride. Unfortunately, I am sorry to say I was correct in my prediction.
Nip/Tuck stars Julian McMahon as millionaire surgeon playboy Dr. Christan Troy and Dylan Walsh as the talented yet rapidly unraveling Dr. Sean McNamara, who has a heart of gold. The two of them have, since college, had an unlikely bond that took Sean's talent and Christan's charisma and turned it into a plastic surgery enterprise. In earlier seasons, the dramatic, eclectic, and bizarre story lines made this show fascinating to watch. As it continued to outdo its own crazy plots,...

A Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning FX drama series, Nip/Tuck follows the story of plastic surgeons Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon). Episodes revolve around their personal lives and their unusual patients. The show's talented cast also includes Joely Richardson, John Hensley, Roma Maffia, and Kelly Carlson.
Series creator Ryan Murphy has shared that the doctors' cases are often based on fact but are combined with themes of sexuality, recreational drugs, violence, and morality issues. The series held its audience through six seasons beginning in 2003 and ending with episode 100 in March 2010.
During the last season, McNamara/Troy find that the tough economy is keeping the beautiful people at bay and the elective surgery biz needs a boost. Other engrossing storylines involve the doctors' creation of a life-like mask for a cross-dresser to wear when he's on the town...

Considering I produce a ghosthunting parody show of my own, the subject of Ghostfacers is one very near and dear to my heart: a group of "professional" ghosthunters documenting their investigations with hilarious results. This first season, the team is tracking down the spirit of a murdered actress (played by Kelly Carlson of Nip/Tuck) who was forced to watch herself get her face slashed in the theatre dressing room where she performed. What is even more interesting about the show itself is the story of how it came to be. I had a chance to interview Aj Buckley (CSI: NY, Skateland) who plays Ed, the team’s enthusiastic leader, and Travis Wester (Euro Trip, Cold Case) staring as Harry, the co-founder of the team and tactical specialist, about the shows origins. "Ghostfacers was an incredibly original idea developed and written by Ben Edlund, one of the writers on Supernatural", they explained.

If you remember the Ghostfacer team from their three "Supernatural" episodes, you're probably expecting their new web series, which premieres today (April 15) to be a bucket of laughs.

We've seen the whole series, and we can say that while you'll definitely laugh, you might be surprised by the more emotional moments from the series. Is it just me, or did you also expect a Castle episode revolving around a late night war to be funnier? The show prides itself on its light side, but they played this one too straight. There was just... so much talking. We had so many people to rule out that we had no time for Castle to play with things he shouldn't -- unless you count the actress (Nip/Tuck's Kelly Carlson) sleeping with him to get a role in the Nikki Heat movie -- or for Beckett to get shot at. I missed the physical humor/peril. So the victim was Bobby Mann,...

The late-night debacle that went down at NBC earlier this season could fairly be called a bloody mess. "Castle" takes that idea literally in its next episode.
The ABC murder mystery will take on the cutthroat world of talk-show hosts Monday (April 12) when Castle (Nathan Fillion) is a guest on a show hosted by late-night veteran Bobby Mann ("Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron) -- and Bobby insists that "They want me dead." Which, sure enough, happens -- giving Bergeron his first chance to play a dead body.
"That was thankfully very comfortable," Bergeron tells Zap2it. "They put a warm blanket on the metal table before I climbed onto it, and I was able to keep my jeans on under the sheet. So being dead was fairly comfortable."
The episode also guest-stars Fred Willard as Bobby's long-time sidekick, Hank. Willard says the episode featured a first for him...

Mal who?
It was all about the novelist-turned-"detective" Richard Castle at Tuesday night's Paley Center for Media event in Beverly Hills honoring ABC's sophomore series "Castle," where actors Nathan Fillion (Castle), Stana Katic (Beckett), Molly Quinn (Alexis), Jon Huertas (Esposito), Seamus Dever (Ryan), Tamala Jones (Lanie), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Roy) and Susan Sullivan (Martha) with executive producer/creator Andrew Marlowe and executive producer Rob Bowman gathered to talk chemistry, Twitter and the "Heat Wave" sequel with the sold-out crowd.
With "Dancing with the Star's" Tom Bergeron holding down the fort -- and guest starring in an upcoming episode -- there was no stone left unturned. After a special screening of the first of Monday's two-parter, which features Dana Delany ("Desperate Housewives") as an FBI agent infiltrating one of Beckett's cases, the panelists got candid.
When Bergeron asked the panel to reveal who was most like their character, the responses were close to unanimous: Fillion.

The list of Castle guest stars just got a little longer.
Over the last couple weeks, we've reported that Dana Delany, Tom Bergeron and Kelly Carlson would all appear on the ABC hit this spring. We can now add the name Navi Rawat to that list.
As first reported by TV Guide, the actress will portray Rachel Walters, a mummification expert who crosses paths with the show's main character's when the Natural History Museum's assistant curator is found murdered.
Walters ends up as a suspect in the murder, while the episode also featured a near-death experience for Castle. The episode airs on April 5.
Rawat has starred for years on Numb3rs and popped up on an episode of FlashForward earlier this season.

The plot of Castle's upcoming ripped-from-the-late-night headlines episode thickens: Ex-Nip/Tuck star Kelly Carlson has been cast in the episode as a love interest for Nathan Fillion's titular sleuth. Carlson's character, an actress by the name of Ellie Rose, meets Castle on the set of a late-night talk show hosted by the Leno-esque Bobby Mann (guest star Tom Bergeron). The two hit it off (and then some), prompting a jealous Beckett to suspect that the starlet is only interested in Castle because she covets a role in the forthcoming movie version of his book, Heat Wave. Some of the stars of Nip/Tuck have complained about the show's finale. The programme aired last night, but several cast members told the Los Angeles Times that they thought it was too "subdued". John Hensley, who played Matt McNamara, described the episode as "anti-climactic" and said: "I was craving for there to be some great twist. Those first two seasons, Nip/Tuck was quite successful at incorporating those. "I was hoping to end on that note, and it just fizzles. It's a distinct choice [creator] Ryan [Murphy] has made, and I respect it. But I was so craving a twist." He added that he felt "let down" when Matt ran away with Ava, saying that it was "not really explained". Meanwhile, Kelly Carlson, who played Kimber Henry, explained that she liked the romance between Kimber (more)...

Tonight, Nip/Tuck said goodbye after seven seasons on the air and 100 episodes. The show is truly an original and has gone many crazy places that other shows haven't gone before. The show's talented cast includes Dylan Walsh, Julian McMahon, Joely Richardson, John Hensley, Roma Maffia, Kelly Carlson, Jessalyn Gilsig, Bruno Campos, Valerie Cruz, Kelsey Batelaan, and Linda Klein.
At the start of the series finale, "Hiro Yoshimura," Sean and Christian chew out Matt for ditching his wedding to Ramona. He professes his love for Ava and asks them to watch Jenna for a few days while he gets things sorted out.
At the office, the docs make Liz a partner in the company and show her by adding her name on the sign in the lobby. Sean tells her they'll put a nursery in the office so she can keep working and be...

The only thing wilder than Nip/Tuck's storylines are the FX drama's kinky — and graphic — sex scenes. But Kelly Carlson, who played the ex-porn star wife of Christian (Julian McMahon), says even the most outrageous scenes were "just a regular day at work." Get the scoop on which scenes were the craziest for the actress, and why she wasn't impressed with the way Kimber was killed off. She also told us how she kept herself separate from her wild character.

I had the rare pleasure of dining out last week at K Street favorite Teatro Goldoni with two darlings from the world of television who were using their cachet to lobby against slaughtering horses for human consumption. Wendie Malick, the star of "Just Shoot Me!," was seated to my right, and over risotto we chatted about her day on the Hill (this is a personal matter for her, as she owns two equines); Golden Globe red carpet fashions, (she marveled at Christina Hendricks curve-hugging look); and her favorite films and actors (Robin Wright-Penn is her pick for most unsung in the industry). Ms. Malick, who in her earlier career worked as a model and Hill staffer to former New York Congressman Jack Kemp, was joined at the dinner by "Nip/Tuck" cast member Kelly Carlson and local leaders from the Washington Humane Society,...

The Ghostfacers – who first appeared in the season 1 episode "Hell House" and then appeared again in the self-titled episode in season 3 of Superntural – are going to be made into a web series.
The original Ghostfacers consisted of Ed Zeddmore (played by Aj Buckley) and Harry Spengler (played by Travis Wester), who met up with the Winchester brothers when they inadvertently helped "summon" a spirit through stories on their website. The team expanded in season 3 to a "semi-professional" (and I use that term loosely) group who again met up with the brothers when investigating a haunted house. Oh yeah, and there was a brief appearance in season 4 in the alternate reality episode "It's a Terrible Life", although Zeddmore and Spengler only appeared in instructional ghost fighting videos on the brothers' computer. Needless to say, the Ghostfacers have fans. Enough fans to warrant a web series.

Warner Brothers is teaming up with an old friend again—single-word director McG. Having last collaborated on the 2008 online drama Sorority Forever, today came word that Ghostfacers, a new 10-episode sci-fi comedy web series from McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision production company and Warner's Studio 2.0 is currently in production in Los Angeles. The series appears to be a spin-off of Warner Bros. Television's Supernatural series which airs on The CW. They are calling this a "shortform brand extension" of the TV series, which means this is really a companion web series, instead of a purely original project. Ghostfacers will follow a "a team of fearless and sometimes comical “professional” ghost hunters who investigate the paranormal and record their own adventures in documentary-style episodes." That same team actually made its debut on Supernatural's first season during the "Hell House" episode, and later resurfaced on season three. The series...

Any "Supernatural" fan out there (and there should be more of them because this show kicks a copious amount of ass) is well acquainted with the "Ghostfacers" -- a bumbling group of paranormal investigators who have taken on a life all their own in terms of fan popularity. In what seems like a truly no-brainer of an idea, we're about to get even more of these cats' antics right here on the world weird web!
Variety reports that a new spin-off show, "Ghostfacers", is heading straight for the Internet.
From the article
"Ghostfacers" represents the latest expansion into the digital studio space for Wonderland, which is producing the "Supernatural" spinoff with Warner Bros. TV's Studio 2.0. In a twist, "Ghostfacers" will premiere on TheWB.com -- the interactive/video-on-demand website that emerged from the ashes of the WB television network (where "Supernatural" first bowed). The series will also appear on the CW's website.

In the final minutes of last night's Nip/Tuck, Kimber took a suicidal dive into the ocean, leaving her fate uncertain. Will she be picked up by a fishing boat? Wake up and ask for a margarita? Or is our favorite dysfunctional bombshell really a goner? Spoiler Alert: She's dead. The first step in the grieving process is denial. The second is reading a Q&A with the dearly departed character's portrayer — in this case, Kelly Carlson. Chicago – Ryan Murphy’s “Nip/Tuck” begins its final cosmetic procedure this evening, starting a nine-episode arc that will end this once-promising series that has been in need of a face lift for a few years now. Even with its sizable flaws since it jumped the shark in season three, I always thought that “Nip/Tuck” could return to the relative greatness of its first two to three seasons. But based on the first two episodes of the final season, “Nip/Tuck” seems to be going out with a whimper when these over-sexed doctors surely deserve a bang.
