Even though I probably wouldn’t count him as being among my favorite mutants, I can’t help but be intrigued by the prospect of a Gambit movie. After all, if you were also a kid growing up in the 1990’s, then you no doubt remember how he was a prominent member of the team in not only the comic books, but in the highly revered X-Men: The Animated Series as well.
Even so, it became quite hard to have faith in this project after it spent several years in developmental hell. But to our delight, things seemed to get back on track earlier today with word coming down that none other than Gore Verbinkski (The Ring, Rango) has been enlisted to direct the picture, which is set to star Channing Tatum. Channing Tatum's Gambit movie is still in development and everyone involved seems excited about the direction that they are looking to take it. You can thank Logan and Deadpool for opening certain doors to make sure this Gambit movie is going to be done right. I honestly think the film could end up being great, especially if they take in the direction that was previously rumored.
According to that rumor, Mr. Sinister is involved with the story they are going to tell and according to a report from Splash Report, the studio is looking at casting Daniel Craig in the role of the villain and if that's true, Craig would be awesome! He is a perfect fit!
If this is true it would reunite Craig and Tatum who worked together in Steven Soderberg's Lucky Logan, which was a fantastic film that you have to see if you haven't already.

When “Late Night with Seth Meyers” producer Mike Shoemaker teased that Amy Poehler, “Saturday Night Live” fans knew that meant one very exciting thing: another edition of “Really!?!”
She is the best. Really. pic.twitter.com/rTEomHvtFD
— Mike Shoemaker (@shoemakermike) June 21, 2017
The segment first popped up back when Poehler and Meyers were co-host of SNL’s “Weekend Update,” with the two taking aim at headline-makers like then-Senator Larry Craig and members of a Congressional committee on birth control. (A new addition to the canon is always exciting, but nothing tops that combo of the old graphic with Don Pardo intro’ing the title.)
When Poehler left the show for Pawnee pastures, Meyers kept the “Really!?!” flame alive, co-delivering the indignation with Kermit the Frog (who knew he was so passionate about Twizzlers and Hot Pockets!) and an also-returning Tina Fey.
With Poehler in town promoting her upcoming summer comedy “The House,” it made sense that another desk-sharing “Late Night” moment would be in the works. For this particular go-around, the two focused on the protests of the Public Theatre’s production of “Julius Caesar” depicting the ruler as Trump-like with insight into Tuesday’s news that Daniel Day-Lewis would be retiring from acting.
Though many of the “Really!?!”s touched on political news, this isn’t the first time the two have focused their laser questions elsewhere. The first time Poehler and Meyers re-teamed for the segment, the pair took aim at a pair of sports commentators who claimed that women’s soccer wasn’t worth watching.
“Really!?!” Reunion, Vol. IV is another notch in a great June for “Late Night,” which has already seen the show’s “Closer Look” segments continue to trend, another scorching edition of “Ya Burnt” and one of the most delightful bloopers in the show’s history. Keep it coming, folks.

TBS is developing a new comedy anthology series called Miracle Workers and they've cast two big stars to headline it. Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson are set star in the show, which will be executive produced by Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels.
The series was created by Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman) and according to Deadline, Miracle Workers will be "a heaven-set workplace comedy based on Rich’s book What in God’s Name. Radcliffe will play Craig, a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers, and Wilson will play Craig’s boss, God, who has pretty much checked out to focus on his favorite hobbies. To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig must achieve his most impossible miracle to date."

Beyond the superhero space, you’d struggle to find another Hollywood franchise that garners the same amount of buzz and excitement as James Bond.
MGM and Eon’s 00 agent is currently on ice, make no mistake about it, but a lack of tangible progress on Bond 25 has in no way quelled the rumors and speculation – if anything, it’s only added fuel to the fire. In the past four weeks alone, we’ve learned that five studios – namely Warner Bros., Universal, 20th Century Fox, Annapurna, and Sony – are currently lobbying for those lucrative franchise rights, while Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk) and Sherlock helmer Paul McGuigan are reportedly in the mix to get behind the lens for the as-yet-untitled Bond 25.
So far, so familiar. But while appearing on the latest episode of Conan (via Screen Rant), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword actor Charlie Hunnam addressed those rumors linking him with the license to kill.

Less than a year ago, her husband, country singer Craig Strickland, was found dead after his boat capsized in a lake during a hunting trip in Oklahoma. He was just 29 years old. As the battle rages among the plethora of TV networks, one of the main points each seems to aim for is to become, at least in part, its own niche, with a certain kind of show becoming part of its brand. Fox’s effort is difficult to put a label on, which is somehow part of the label.
With shows like The Last Man on Earth, Scream Queens, Wayward Pines, and Sleep Hollow, not to mention the crossbranding with FX and Fxx, if there’s a truly bonkers premise out there, the chances are it’s on Fox.
It’s hard to go further down that road than Son of Zorn, which sets out to relay the life and times of Zorn (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), resident and protector of an island of cartoon characters who are in constant battle with cartoon villains. The story begins as Zorn is about...

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit the interwebs. Blood Father (Jean-François Richet)
If this be the movie jail that Mel Gibson is destined to die in, it could be a whole lot worse. Blood Father, directed by Jean-François Richet (Mesrine, Assault on Precinct 13), works remarkably well as a grindhouse throwback, sporting a screenplay (from Peter Craig and Andrea Berloff, based on Craig’s novel) that’s better than it has any right to be.

Patrick Wilson has starred in such big-budget Hollywood movies as "The Alamo," "The Phantom of the Opera" and Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," but his latest film -- writer/director S. Craig Zahler's bleak horror-Western "Bone Tomahawk" -- wasn't exactly flush with money. Which, as far as Wilson is concerned, actually helped his performance as Arthur O'Dwyer, a young, crutches-saddled frontier man who goes on a mission to save his wife from a tribe of cannibalistic Native Americans: "I think this might have been a different movie...I felt this way actually about 'Hard Candy,' too, years ago -- you probably would have had a different performance, certainly in some takes, if the movie had been shot over three or four months," Wilson told me while promoting the film, which also stars Kurt Russell, Matthew Fox and Richard Jenkins. If you’ve had it up to here with this week’s outpouring of turgidity and grandiloquence, if you’re saying to yourself, “My God, when has anyone cared this much about a guy leaving a show?“, think back to the 1992 retirement of Johnny Carson, after 30 years of hosting The Tonight Show. “Look on the bright side; you won’t have to read or see any more coverage about me leaving the show,” Johnny half-joked during his final episode. “My God, the Soviet Union’s end hasn’t received this kind of publicity.” Carson was responding to bombastic encomiums that, until this week,...

Cinema’s Hidden Pearls – Part II
By Alex Simon
One of nature’s rarest items, a pearl is produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk. Just like the shell of a clam, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. Truly flawless pearls are infrequently produced in nature, and as a result, the pearl has become a metaphor for something rare, fine, admirable and valuable.
Hidden pearls exist in the world of movies, as well: films that, in spite of being brilliantly crafted and executed, never got the audience they deserved beyond a cult following.
Here are a few more of our favorite hidden pearls in the world of film:

During its rocky first season, Parks and Recreation faced much criticism for being too similar to The Office – Leslie was just a female Michael Scott, and Ron Swanson was the new Dwight Schrute. Setting it in the vibrant and weird Indiana town of Pawnee instantly assuaged some of these fears. Even during that first season, it was clear from the town hall meetings, where Leslie and company had to defend themselves against the many residents of Pawnee, that Michael Schur and his writers had dreamt up one of the most vivid communities for a sitcom. So, in honor of Parks and Recreation’s end, here are the ten best recurring characters on the show.
1. The Tammys
While it may seem unfair to group three characters together, especially in the top spot, Parks has too many amazing recurring characters to properly showcase in ten slots. Ron Swanson’s two ex-wives and...

And so "Parks and Recreation" has come to an end. We published many stories about the show over the last week, including an Amy Poehler interview, an essay on the show's greatness, and a whole lot more, and I have a review of the series finale coming up just as soon as you give me a pair of your gym socks... "Yes. I'm ready." -Leslie Knope A few years ago, Mike Schur and I had a very long discussion of finales — not only the many times he had written "Parks" episodes that could function as series finales if NBC canceled them, but of the many sitcom and drama finales he had admired over the years. He talked about how once upon a time, he was convinced that the show would end with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the park Leslie built on Lot 48. He talked, as he so often does,...

The day after Jon Stewart announced he was leaving The Daily Show, he plaintively asked his audience, “Did I die?” Lots of people are bemoaning the fact that he’s going, myself included. His show has been the counterpoint to the bilge spewed by Faux News and he’s been wonderful at showing the absurdity in politics.
Yes, he and I share very similar viewpoints on most topics and, while I’ve seen him skewer the Left, he’s more likely to skewer the Right and that’s just fine by me. He’s a comedian doing a fake news show; he doesn’t have to be “fair and balanced.” He simply has to have a consistent point of view and express it with wit and humor. However telling the point, he needs to get a laugh. That’s what he does. It’s what he is supposed to do.

Now this is a list that could result in a lot of fascinating dissection and thanks to HitFix it comes to our attention almost three years after it was originally released back in 2012, celebrating the Motion Picture Editors Guild's 75th anniversary. Over at HitFix, Kris Tapley asks, "Is this news to anyone elsec" Um, yes, I find it immensely interesting and a perfect starting point for anyone looking to further explore the art of film editing. In an accompanying article we get the particulars concerning what films were eligible and how films were to be considered: In our Jan-feb 12 issue, we asked Guild members to vote on what they consider to be the Best Edited Films of all time. Any feature-length film from any country in the world was eligible. And by "Best Edited," we explained, we didn't just mean picture; sound, music and mixing were to be considered as well.

A random bit of researching on a Tuesday night led me to something I didn't know existed: The Motion Picture Editors Guild's list of the 75 best-edited films of all time. It was a feature in part celebrating the Guild's 75th anniversary in 2012. Is this news to anyone else? I confess to having missed it entirely. Naturally, I had to dig in. What was immediately striking to me about the list — which was decided upon by the Guild membership and, per instruction, was considered in terms of picture and sound editorial as opposed to just the former — was the most popular decade ranking. Naturally, the 1970s led with 17 mentions, but right on its heels was the 1990s. I wouldn't have expected that but I happen to agree with the assessment. Thelma Schoonmaker's work on "Raging Bull" came out on top, an objectively difficult choice to dispute, really. It was so transformative,...

Chris Hemsworth went from unknown to Hollywood leading man seemingly overnight.
Like many other Australian stars, the actor got his start on a soap opera "Home and Away." But 171 episodes later -- and after a stint on "Dancing With the Stars Australia" -- Hemsworth ended up stateside, waiting for his big break. It didn't take long. Two years after his U.S. debut, Hemsworth won the titular role in "Thor" (2011) and hasn't looked back since. This month, he takes aim in Michael Mann's thriller "Blackhat."
From his days in the Outback to his iconic U.S. debut, here are 23 things you probably don't know about Chris Hemsworth.
1. Chris Hemsworth was born August 11, 1983 in Melbourne, Australia to Leonie and Craig Hemsworth.
2. His mother is an English teacher, while his father is a social-services counselor.

This may be the wrong way to wake up, but in the video below you can watch tarantulas crawl all over Jimmy Fallon.
On Monday night, Jimmy had a visit from Jeff Musial's animal kingdom, including an adorable Siberian lynx, a red kangaroo, and a couple of Mexican white and red-kneed tarantulas. Jimmy looked uncomfortable through the whole thing, even before Jeff randomly put a tarantula on his shoulder. Jimmy kept repeating, "I don't like spiders," but apparently Jeff got the Ok from someone because he kept adding tarantulas onto his head, face and hand. Poor Jimmy looked traumatized. It didn't help that Jeff kept shouting "Don't move!

Amy Adams played "Holiday Flip Cup" with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" on Thursday, and ... she did her best. She's hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, with One Direction as the musical guest, so hopefully Amy is better at hosting than playing drinking games. But her little "ack!" sound when things go wrong is pretty cute.
The amazing Nick Offerman, also a guest on "The Tonight Show," read a "shortened, more casual version" of ''Twas the Night Before Christmas." Love his Christmas sweater. Honestly.
Jimmy Kimmel - and yes he really wore that red Christmas suit - welcomed Mel Brooks, who didn't want to sit in the chair next to the desk.

Kristen Wiig is taking the road less traveled, and after a bumpy start, it's starting to show signs of life. Most former "Saturday Night Live" standouts either head to Hollywood to make as many studio comedies as they can or try to fashion a comedy series on TV. Wiig exploded — and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay — in Paul Fieg's blockbuster "Bridesmaids," but for the most part she's been exploring her range in indies such as "Girl Most Likely," "Hateship Loveship" and "Welcome to Me." Whether or not it's a deliberate strategy, it's paid off with Craig Johnson's "The Skeleton Twins." The dramedy reunited Wiig with her former "SNL" co-star Bill Hader as siblings who, after years of semi-estrangement, need each other more than ever. The duo earned raves for their performances, but neither has made a significant mark on the awards season this year. The good...

It’s been a strange season of The Voice — and not just because of Gwen Stefani’s penchant for pairing torturous heels with tights.
But despite the almost constant shift in contestant momentum and often head-scratching results (Damien over Toia Jones in the Knockouts? Ryan Sill in the Top 8?), something kind of miraculous occurred during tonight’s performance finale: NBC’s reality singing behemoth finally took on its most obvious shortcoming — that it’s never produced an American Idol-level superstar — and did something that may very well obliterate all those “what’s the point of all this, anyway?” criticisms.

In life, as on The Voice, the accomplishment-to-praise threshhold is not always a balanced one.
Your three-year-old makes a wee-wee on the potty, and you treat him like he’s earned the Nobel Prize in toilet-training. You make it to the gym on a Monday morning (after failing to go even once the week prior), and you’re suddenly Rocky atop the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It doesn’t matter that you had to crawl the last 10 feet to ascend the peak, you’re the heavyweight champ of your own feel-good movie.

The 5th Annual Mile High Horror Film Festival was a twisted cornucopia of live performance artists, vendors, horror icons, FX artists, shorts, full length features, classics, and live industry panel discussions that drew the most rabid of fans. The repetitious problem of this particular festival is that it is structured in such a way it is impossible to see and do everything, leaving the most enthusiastic of attendees with nagging doubts and fear of “missing something”.
Opening night featured the original 1977 The Hills Have Eyes with all it’s glorious, non-pc dialogue. Original star Michael Berryman (Pluto) provided behind the scenes stories in an engaging Q&A session preceding the screening.
