Ottawa rock band Silvergun & Spleen released a new music video for the song "Crack" today, but it has far less to do with controversial Toronto mayors than what might be Sesame Street After Dark. Or a masochistic version of "The Muppet Show."
The three-minute, sixteen-second video starts out innocently enough as a series of people in furry mascot outfits/animal costumes enter a hall and dig into the buffet and drink. The band — with sisters Marie-Eve and Veronique Mallet dressed in bunny costumes — perform as the animals look on and dance.
However, a minute in things take a different turn, with simulated foreplay as tails are slapped across backsides and other tails being suggestively swung around. From there it's an all-out simulated orgy with plush bears on top of each other, a gorilla being Danny Brown-ed and a rabbit and panda gettin' down. We won't try to describe what...

According to reports, the experimental hip-hop artist was in the middle of a song at the Triple Rock Social Club, when the unidentified woman came up and pulled his pants down, the New York Daily News reported.
Rapper Kitty Pryde, who is on tour with the 32-year-old, penned an angry letter about the incident, expressing her outrage at what she considered sexual assault, on Wednesday.
"I'm mad that a person thought.

He did What on stage? The indie rapper is in hot water after allegedly getting very raunchy during his concert in Minneapolis on Friday, April 26. Now, a fellow rapper who tours with Danny has an explanation for his astonishing and lewd actions.
Rapper Danny Brown’s concert took an unforeseen turn on April 26 when he invited female fans on stage and one in particular reportedly pulled down Danny’s pants and attempted to perform oral sex on him. Not surprisingly, Danny has received plenty of criticism for the obscene bit — many have called him misogynistic and debauched for allowing it to go down. But on May 1, his tour mate, female rapper Kitty Pryde wrote an extended tirade defending Danny and explaining the onstage oral as a case of “sexual assault.”

Fans attending rapper Danny Brown's concert Friday night in Minneapolis got a bit more than they probably bargained when a female fan appeared to give the musician oral sex while he was on stage.
Brown was playing the city's Triple Rock Social Club as part of The Old & Reckless tour when he invited some female fans to get closer to him, according to AllHipHop. However, one fan took that offer far further as others looked on. This Nsfw photo that various publications have been linking to should clarify what happened.
One concertgoer near the front row explained what transpired with female fans grabbing at Brown's crotch before one lady flashed the musician before performing fellatio on him.
"Then I'm behind her and I start getting pushed against her by the crowd shifting," the fan wrote. "It horrible and i hope you guys will be donating to my future therapy...

5) Veronica Falls “Waiting For Something To Happen”
Before I talk about this video I want to take a moment to mention the video that almost made this spot. An awesome Record Store Day release from Screaming Females and Garbage, it’s a great cover but this Veronica Falls video is just more interesting. “Waiting For Something To Happen” offers a fast-paced black-and-white montage of nature and close-ups of the band members’ faces. It’s also got a lovely vintage feel to it.
4) Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge “Rise of the Ghostface Killah”
Directed by Adrian Younge
The video for “Rise of the Ghostface Killah” partially takes place in an old church and though the part of Killah is not played by Killah the video is still engaging and creepy. The only way I can describe what happens in the video is 70s Satanic cults and murderous revenge.

N.W.A.'s "Express Yourself" centers on freedom of expression and radio censorship. Madonna's "Express Yourself" is about empowerment and never settling. Danny Brown's "Express Yourself" is about bouncing asses. To be fair, the Trampy-produced track is inspired by Diplo's own butt-empowering "Express Yourself" featuring Nicky Da B. "Spread your legs and watch your back," it vamps. Back-watching is actually fairly difficult, particularly when one is on the floor... So anyway, Immaculate Noise favorite Brown has the perfect alto whine in his rhymes for the bumping, purring tone of the track, like he and the keys are in call-and-response. Brown is heading out on...

Rick Ross might be liberal with his raps about "yayo," guns and Jesus pieces, but a recent lyrics about date rape stands out from the rest.
Ross collaborated with Atlanta rapper Rocko for the single, titled "U.O.E.N.O.," off Rocko's mixtape "Gift of Gab 2." Although the mix dropped in February, the track featuring Ross is just now gaining traction because of a lyric presumably about date rape.
The lyrics in question talk about drugging a woman and taking her home. "Put molly all in her champagne/ She ain't even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that/ She ain't even know it," raps Ross.
Molly is the powder or crystal form of "pure" Mdma, a substance commonly found in Ecstasy, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Mdma can be an energizer, distorter and/or enhancer. It is used to "reduce inhibitions and to promote: euphoria,...

5) The Purist feat. Danny Brown “Jealousy”
Recruiting American rapper Danny Brown was a great decision made by British producer The Purist when creating his psychedelic, Biggie-sampling, rap track “Jealousy”. The very idea sounds like it shouldn’t work but it actually really does, and this week they unleashed a cool, glitchy video to go with it. As Danny spits in his usual ferocious way, a number of brazen, retro graphics glide by. The oddly cool visuals are provided by VHS-loving videomakers Globodigital Video. The video is complete with lyrics on the screen so you can sing along with Danny in this refreshing take on a music video.
4) Fort Romeau “SW9″

He's at South by Southwest next week. He performs at Coachella in April. But rather than rest, Detroit rapper Danny Brown is going on tour between and after his festival appearances.
Last week, Brown announced a short tour with Baauer, hitting several spots in Texas, Calif, and Ariz. (For the uninitiated, Baauer is the producer responsible for the insanely viral "Harlem Shake.") But on Friday, it was announced Brown would take the "Old & Reckless" tour to cities across the country, joined by rapper Kitty.
What should fans expect from the tour? It's going to be pretty ratchet, according to the rapper himself.
Unfortunately for hometown fans, Brown won't be making a stop in Motown, though he will perform at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor on April 24 and at the Electric Forest Festival in the western Mich. city Rothbury on June 27.

Valentine’s Day 2013 just got a little weirder: A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown are now booked, along with Russell Brand, to sit down and talk to Kathy Griffin on next Thursday’s episode of her Bravo chat show. 5) Evil Nine feat. Danny Brown “The Black Brad Pitt”
Directed by ?
This is a really visually interesting, entertaining music video. The track itself is really weird and hilarious but still infectious at the same time. The first thirty seconds consist of really well executed teaser-shots of the jungle. Brown is nowhere to be seen but the main concept consists of a really aggressive break-dancing soldier. Still featuring classic elements of the genre, there are also cutaways of an alluring woman, and jewels not to mention a leader figure.
4) Helado Negro “Dance Ghost”
Directed by David Kessler
Relocating from Miami to Savanna, “Dance Ghost” is dominated by those familiar tropical yet dark vibes, Roberto Carlos Lange provides. The video documents the underbelly of paradise made up of interesting visuals ranging from seedy dance clubs to church performances. Towering hotels in the background are strongly juxtaposed with the street life Lange grew up with.

A movie based on his musical career, "Searching For Sugar Man," is nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar, and he's just been announced on the lineup for California's massive Coachella Music Festival. Not a bad year for Detroit singer/songwriter Rodriguez.

Vulture’s Nitsuh Abebe has already picked his favorite albums and songs of the year; the Reader’s Choice for Song of the Year will be announced tomorrow. But in the meantime, here are Vulture’s top music videos of the year, weighted heavily in favor of cute kids, fast cars, and snazzy clothes. Add your favorites in the comments. 1. “National Anthem” - Lana Del Rey It is time to admit a couple Ldr-related truths: (1) We all overreacted a little (2) The woman knows how to make a sumptuous video-slash-perfume commercial. “National Anthem” tops “Ride” because Lana dared to cast herself as both Jackie and Marilyn, and because A$AP Rocky looks great in those JFK sweaters. Sweaters trump all. 2. “Grown Up” - Danny Brown We’ll award a late-breaking Honorable Mention to Jessie Ware’s “Sweet Talk,” but your “Sky’s the Limit” Homage Champ is still this tiny child channeling Danny Brown.

RZA's "Man With the Iron Fists" is leading the race for the year's original soundtrack. The Wu-Tang and hip-hop veteran called in everyone from Kanye West and Danny Brown to Colbie Caillat and The Black Keys.
And now, the soundtrack has its first video, for "The Baddest Man Alive." The Keys and RZA square off in a brutal fight over a fortune cookie that leaves at least one patron armless and one waitress shirtless (the latter is a bit more difficult to justify). If the movie is anything like this, and it looks like it is, get ready for plenty of stylized violence. Quentin Tarantino is a producer on "Man With the Iron Fists," which stars Lucy Liu and Russell Crowe. RZA wrote, directed and also stars in the picture.
Also: RZA picks up a fish and slaps Dan Auerbach in the face. Somewhere, Nickelback is smiling, but not...

How fun would it be if instead of a paper bag, every hyperventilating human being were handed a copy of Kelly Clarkson's new single "Catch My Breath" and told to just follow the instructions? ("Catching my breath/ letting it go/ turning my cheek for the sake of the show." Repeat.) She could do a whole series, actually — the Kelly Clarkson "Heimlich Maneuver" song; the Kelly Clarkson "CPR" song; the Kelly Clarkson "How to Put Out a Small Kitchen Fire" song. Everyday emergencies would be so festive! And also these songs might be more interesting. While we're at it, Purity Ring asked Danny Brown to help them make a sequel to "Belispeak," and he said yes, because sometimes we can have nice things. Here's "Belispeak II."...

UK filmmakers Andy Phelps and Jake Hawkins have been working on their project Zombie Resurrection for a while now, and the good news is the whole film has been shot! They're still putting together funding to finish it off, but we're confident they'll pull it off. In the interim check out the trailer.
The film stars Eric Colven, Simon Burbage, Jim Sweeney, and Danny Brown. Look for more on this one soon.
Synopsis
Since the outbreak, pockets of survivors live in isolated stockades dotted around the country, and so successful has this separation been that there have been no new infections for months. The zombies have decayed away; deteriorating to slow, shambolic, toothless pests.
We join a group of eight survivors in the middle of a six-day march across the badlands, moving from one of the smaller stockades to the central most-populous hub. A party of people all dealing with...

Dear Sos reader/listenership:
With Christmas approaching, and with Sound on Sight turning three years old (and yes, I know Iceage are pictured above holding four candles – deal with it), I thought it appropriate to create a “present” of sorts to thank everyone for their support, attention, and feedback. Earlier this year, partially thanks to my involvement with Sos (and the associated time commitments), I decided I had to step down from my volunteer position at Cjlo 1690Am here in Montreal, where I had been maintaining a weekly music show for several years – but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped keeping tabs on what I consider to be the best music of the year. So, in order to keep one foot in the music world, I started keeping a longlist of my favorite new tracks, with the ultimate goal of making a kickass year-end mix for you all.
Which I’ve now done!

Way back in 20 aught 7 when I started interning at MTV News, Cmj Week was one of the things that got me noticed and helped me stick around. The annual music showcase sees dozens of artists descend – well, some just take the L from Brooklyn – on New York City to try and prove themselves. As an intern, I loved the chance to run around my hometown to cover music. I was doing that already, but this time it was free and I could tell girls I was working for MTV News.
Fast-forward four years, I'm old and jaded, and Cmj isn't that big of a deal. Well, that isn't entirely true. It still provides kids an opportunity to see plenty of up-and-coming acts and it gives those acts a chance to broaden their fanbase. And I wasn't mad at all of those invites in my inbox either.

Das Racist have been carving out a home in hip-hop headlines for their brand of cheeky and socially conscious rap, but on "Power," they reserved their smarts for the beats. Dash Speaks was behind the churning, mechanical production on this steel-toothed "big bad wolf," a lurching bevvy of good ideas. Each rhymers' lax sing-song verses playfully spar against each other in slow motion; while I find guest Danny Brown's contribution (see: hos, blow jobs) to be a bit archaic, Despot saves the day. Don't get this "Power" mixed up with the Kanye West variety, even though they seem to share the...

Jay-z once rapped that 30 is the new 20, but Danny Brown is at ease with his age — so much so that the Detroit Mc dedicated his latest mixtape, XXX, to the big 3-0.
At this point, Brown is comfortable as an individual, and that in itself is a double-edged sword. It is Db's individuality that has earned him a cult following of fans, which he dubs the Bruisers, and it is that same sense of self that cost the rapper a deal with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records.
"I just turned 30. I been writing raps all my life, but I remember the time when I was, like, 14, 15; I was like, 'Imagine what I'm gonna be like when I'm 20. Yo, imagine what I'm gonna be like when...

Can non-profits raise awareness, increase membership, and--most critically--“make the ask” successfully on Twitter? Can a 140-character message deliver the visceral wallop of, say, heart-wrenching footage of starving children covered in flies or the sad eyes of a neglected and abused animal? The answer is yes.
According to Beth Kanter, author of Beth's Blog: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media, organizations using Twitter that “take the time to engage supporters in a conversation and get to know them are more likely to build trust.” And that trust can turn into raised awareness, support, and ultimately donations for their cause.
Web 2.0 has helped spread the word about everything from saving the Mediterranean Monk Seal to shoring up support for a certain senator’s pursuit of the presidency.
Twitter is just the latest platform to turn underserved causes into national, even global, initiatives. Danny Brown, founder of 12for12K, says, “People can...
