What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? At least, that’s how it’s supposed to be, but I can’t help but spill the beans on a fantastic trip I recently took to Sin City for the launch of Netflix‘s new series, Obliterated. Premiering today on Netflix, this eight-episode series comes from the guys behind Cobra Kai, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, and is a gloriously profane and non-pc throwback to their Harold & Kumar days – albeit with a heavy dose of Jerry Bruckheimer-style action thrown in.
The show focuses on an elite team of Navy Seals, led by Nick Zano’s Chad McKnight, who, along with a CIA agent, Ava Winters (Shelley Henning) and her tech wiz, Maya (Kimi Rutledge), have just taken down a terrorist cell planning to blow up Las Vegas. To celebrate a well-done job, the team decides to do what...

Can you believe it's been seven years since Colin Morgan's boy wizard first strode onto our screens?
The series premiere of Merlin on September 20, 2008 set us off on a magical five-year journey - one with mythical monsters, wicked warlocks and excessive amounts of bromantic banter.
Millions tuned in each Saturday night for the show's blend of fun, fantasy and friendship - because Merlin and Arthur (Bradley James) were definitely just friends, Ok? - but what's happened to Camelot's finest since that epic final episode?
Colin Morgan
The aged Emrys might still be waiting for King Arthur to revive, but Merlin lead Colin Morgan hasn't lain dormant these past few years. He appeared opposite fellow Irish legend Gabriel Byrne in BBC One's moody detective drama Quirke in 2014, was seduced by Gillian Anderson as mercurial copper Tom Anderson in The Fall and played cyborg Leo in Channel 4's smash hit Humans.

Cinemax’s “Banshee” concluded its third — and unquestionably best — season tonight with a whole lot of violence, mystery and big emotion that’s characterized the pulp thriller from the start. It’s not that season 3 did anything appreciably different from the first two, but rather a matter of the execution going up a notch, with more elaborate fight scenes (including an episode that was wall-to-wall action as the Banshee police precinct came under siege), more colorful villains, and more dire emotional stakes. Earlier this week, I got on the phone with the show’s co-creator, Jonathan Tropper, to discuss how the season played out and plans for the future, which includes a shorter fourth season and a move of production from North Carolina to Pittsburgh. When the season began, you had two big intertwined threats. You had Chayton coming back and starting this insurrection by the Redbones, and you had...

Banshee, Season 2: Episode 9 – “Homecoming”
Written by Jonathan Tropper
Directed by Greg Yaitanes
Airs Friday nights at 10 Cinemax
At the risk of digression, it’s worth pointing out how Banshee is in a similar situation right now to where The Walking Dead was a few months ago. The insanely popular zombie series had a third season building up to a confrontation that never really happened or resolved, and it wasn’t until the midseason finale of the current season that some conclusiveness was brought to that part of the story. Banshee didn’t, by any means, thoroughly disappoint viewers in the same way with the Rabbit confrontation last year. That battle did take place and our heroes technically beat the Ukrainian crime lord. It might have been the youth of the series that helped decide it was best to not let Rabbit die, though, so that he could wreak some more havoc on our protagonists.

We’re back again with another Movie of the Day and once again this week we’re focusing on blinkbox’s Free content. Today’s film, available without subscription, is a fantastic modern Dtv action flick, Beatdown.
Starring some of the greatest Mma stars, Beatdown follows respected street fighter Brandon Becker (Rudy Youngblood), who finds himself in debt to the mob and running for his life. Taking refuge at his fathers place (Danny Trejo) he soon gets involved in the local underground cage-fighting scene. With the help of a former Mma champion (Michael Bisping) he plans to settle his debts.
In the simplest of terms, Beatdown is the Mma version of Never Back Down, complete with town bully, underground fight scene and underdog hero – and actually that’s not a bad thing – the story works well, despite some obvious plot holes (the heroes’ brothers death being the biggest) and the...

The SAG Awards sparkled. Women in beautiful dresses, perfectly accessorized; men crisply attired in suits or tuxes; and flash cameras and video everywhere—it was quite a scene. There was drama …

Boldface names made their way down the red carpet: the bolder the name, the faster they moved. Oops, there went Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button). Too late. But Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) did pause for a moment:
He picked up an award later that evening for male actor in a comedy series. Meanwhile, the unofficial award for cutest kids went to the ones playing adman Don Draper’s children in Mad Men. Kiernan Shipka looks sweet …
… but advised me that if she won an award (she did, as part of an ensemble), it would go next to her Tae Kwon Do trophies. Easy there tiger! Meanwhile, her cast-mate and fellow winner Aaron Hart is a handsome little fellow …
