Lauren Tom has signed on for Supernatural Season 8. We're just not sure in what capacity.
The actress - who voices Amy Wong on Futurama and, of course, delayed the Ross/Rachel hookup on Friends for a few weeks as Julie back in the day - will appear on at least one episode of The CW cult favorite in a mysterious role The Hollywood Reporter describes as "intense."
Look for Tom to portray the overbearing mother of a key character and have the potential to recur.
Not much else is known about the character, but network sources say her entrance will be "dramatic," which is saying a lot on Supernatural.
The series shifts to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and premieres on October 3 following Arrow.

Red or Black? contestant Nathan Hageman has revealed that he won't be giving any of his £1m prize money to the woman he assaulted. The bricklayer became the first winner of the ITV1 gameshow last weekend, but his success was overshadowed by claims he'd served time in jail for attacking ex-girlfriend Amy Edwards. Show boss Simon Cowell was said to be livid that Hageman got to keep his £1m prize and urged him to give the money to his victim and charity. "I didn't have to pay her a penny then, so why should I have to pay her now just because I'm a millionaire?" Hageman told the Sunday Mirror. "I'm not paying compensation. They asked for compensation in court and were told the length of sentence was severe enough and they would not award compensation." (more)...

Simon Cowell has called on Red or Black? millionaire Nathan Hageman to reconsider what to do with his prize money. The bricklayer scooped the £1m prize on the first episode of Cowell's new gameshow. However, it was later revealed that he had served half of a five-year jail sentence for attacking his ex-girlfriend Amy Edwards. Speaking to The Sun, the Syco boss said that the "embarrassing" situation had left the company in a "horrible position". Following 'crisis talks', it is believed that ITV decided it had no choice but to pay out. "I'd like him to give the money back but I'm not in a position to force anybody to do anything. That's why he got the money - it's his own conscience what he decides to do with it," Cowell said. "If I was him I know what I'd do (more)...

Nathan Hageman will be allowed to keep the £1 million he won on 'Red or Black' - despite serving time in jail for attacking his ex-girlfriend. The 31-year-old bricklayer scooped the jackpot on Ant and Dec's new ITV1 game show on Saturday (03.09.11) but it has since been revealed he spent two-and-a-half years behind bars for attacking former lover Amy Edwards. Anti-domestic violence campaigners were urging the show's bosses - including Simon Cowell - to take the money back as when he auditioned he admitted he had been in jail, but claimed it was for breaking into a man's house and attacking...

Simon Cowell was reportedly livid after ITV and Syco decided that they had no choice but to pay Red or Black? millionaire Nathan Hageman his prize money. The bricklayer scooped the top prize during the first live show over the weekend. Shortly after his win, Cowell made an on-stage appearance to congratulate him. However, it was then reported that Hageman had served a two-and-a-half-year conviction for Abh. While he had informed the broadcaster of his time in prison, he allegedly led them to believe that his victim was a man. It was yesterday revealed that it had actually been his ex-girlfriend Amy Edwards. "I'm desperate for this to be sorted out as soon as possible in the fairest possible way," The Mirror quotes Cowell as saying. "I am doing everything in my power to bring that about so that people can get back to concentrating on the show." (more)...

Red or Black? millionaire Nathan Hageman was reportedly handed a jail sentence after attacking a woman believed to be his ex-girlfriend. The 31-year-old bricklayer scooped the top prize on the first episode of Simon Cowell's ITV1 gameshow on Saturday night. However, it emerged yesterday that Hageman spent two and a half years for actual bodily harm and aggravated burglary. Speaking about his conviction, he told one paper that he had been an "idiot" for breaking into his male victim's home and attacking him. However, both The Sun and The Mirror today claim that Hageman's victim was a woman - his ex-girlfriend Amy Edwards. "The victim of the assault occasioning actual bodily harm named in the indictment was Amy Edwards," a court spokesperson confirmed. Edwards declined to comment, but a source reportedly told The Sun: "It (more)...

Thank Comedy Central for resurrecting the animated series “Futurama” tonight. The sixth season premiere is tonight and features the original voice cast, including Billy West (who voices Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, and Zapp Brannigan), Katey Sagal (who voices Leela), John Dimaggio (Bender), Phil Lamarr (Hermes Conrad), and Lauren Tom (Amy Wong). You can only imagine what a table read sounds like for this bunch!
West says that the dynamic of the cast helps with their performances:
“It helps to riff with the other actors. We fool around a lot and we make each other laugh, and that promotes a good energy in the room. That’s what puts me in the mood.”
Sagal (“Married… With Children”, “Sons of Anarchy”) elaborates on what their table reads for “Futurama” sound like:
“It’s like a disjointed radio show, except with big breaks, because these guys, as you can tell, are very funny.

Good News Everybody!
Comedy Central has been very generous with the Futurama tidbits. They have been posting a new sketch, scene, character design or plot detail every day, as a lead in to the triumphant return of Futurama.
Unfamiliar with Futurama? Here is what you need to know. Futurama is the other show by The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening. The show centers on Philip J. Fry, a 20th century pizza delivery boy that accidentally gets frozen for 1000 years. He awakens in New New York, a future inhabited by robots, aliens, mutants from below the surface and animated heads in jars (including the Earthican President Richard Nixon). Fry finds himself what family he had, in a withered and aged scientist-cum-entrepreneur Professor Hubert Farnsworth, who beyond inventing such world changing devices as the smell-o-scope and the first robot to qualify for a boat loan, owns and operates Planet Express, an intergalactic package delivery service.

To coincide with the good news from Fox that new episodes of Futurama are coming, we review the Blu-ray release of what once looked like the series finale, Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder.
In some respects Futurama could be considered the poor cousin of The Simpsons. Both shows were created by Matt Groening and both share the same style of animation and satirical humour. Yet, Futurama has not enjoyed the same widespread popularity as its Fox stablemate. Whereas The Simpsons (no relation) has been running for 20 seasons on that network, Futurama lasted only four (a fifth aired but was comprised of episodes that had not been shown in previous years).
Despite that relatively short run, Futurama attracted a dedicated following. This prompted the Cartoon Network, and later Comedy Central, to pick up the show for syndication. The viewing figures convinced the latter to commit to sixteen new episodes that...

Thanks to Collider, we now have a behind-the-scenes video from the upcoming fourth "Futurama" film called "Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder." by Casey Seijas Scientists and philosophers have been debating and theorizing on how the universe will inevitably end – little do they know that it could quite possibly be destroyed by the world’s largest miniature golf course! Kicking of the first jam-packed day of geek fare at New York Comic Con ’09, fans of the cult animated comedy Futurama were treated to a special world premiere of the fourth full-length Futurama film, Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder—and judging by the stream of continuous laughter from the near capacity crowd, the flick did not disappoint. Futurama: Itwgy begins when Amy Wong’s insanely wealthy father (with emphasis on the “insane” part of that description), Leo Wong, decides to prove once and for all that men are the far superior gender when it comes to mini golf. Naturally, this involves building the world’s largest miniature golf course – in the literal sense of the word (huge,...
