Halo 2‘s iconic ending, where Master Chief defiantly declares his intent to “finish the fight,” is undeniably memorable. However, it fell short of many fans’ expectations, as the epic journey through the game built to a crescendo, only to abruptly cut off without a satisfying conclusion.
The awkward gap has led many to believe the ending was rushed, a victim of development time constraints. However, more recently revealed information suggests a different story – Halo 2 originally had a much more fleshed-out finale.
Halo 2‘s Original Ending Featured Earth And A Tense Face-off
The storyboards reveal a scrapped ending for Halo 2 that was much more exciting.
Thanks to the release of Halo 2 storyboards by the game’s storyboard artist, Lee Wilson, we now have a glimpse into what could have been. Following his escape from High Charity, the Master Chief would have returned to Earth, a pivotal location in the fight against the Covenant.

Prescreen, the independent film discovery and distribution platform, has suspended operations, reports Rip Empson for Techcrunch. Beginning as a kind of film-of-the-day online distributor and developing into a marketing and discovery platform integrated with Facebook Open Graph, Prescreen both rented films and offered audience data to filmmakers developing their marketing plans. In his piece, Empson talked with Prescreen founder Shawn Bercuson:
While Prescreen saw interest both from users and filmmakers (and the co-founder added that some of its investors were willing to re-up), timing is crucial. The space is hot, and Bercuson believes that it’s inevitable that a platform like Prescreen will be successful, but the startup just couldn’t continue to bet on third-parties — or play the waiting game.
In the startup ecosystem, one company doing well often leads to success for many, but in Hollywood, the CEO says, it’s an individual endeavor. At this point, studios and executives see online,...

Sanctuary, Syfy's surprise (to me) hit returns with new episodes April 15th, and the show has recently been picked up for a fourth season. I say surprise, by the way, only because the show plays fast and loose with just how wild it is going to be, and how strange the events that unfold will become, and that doesn't often sell well, even for sci-fi. When last we saw our crew, they were in a city at the center of the Earth, and who knows what might be in store for us with another season.
To help kick off the second half of the season, stars Amanda Tapping and Robin Dunne were available for a Q & A call recently, and the result was really quite a cool interview.
Check it out below, along with a sneak of the next episode, and a few teaser images.

The story behind Sun-Ho Pak's Gimcrack seems like the sort of thing that you'd see in a movie. The Korean-American Pak moved to Seoul just a few years ago after discovering his ethnic culture after taking Korean language courses in his native Us. In Seoul Pak taught university courses before opting to risk it all by stepping into the film world. The bilingual feature Gimcrack is the end result. Check the trailer below the press release announcing the film's premiere:
Gimcrack, a feature-length independent film written and directed by Sun-Ho Pak will premiere at Cine Maru in Gwanghwamun on Wednesday, December 15th at 8:30pm. Though born and raised in the States, Pak decided to make Seoul his temporary home as a university professor and an aspiring filmmaker after studying in a Korean language program five years ago. Bungie's very real "Halo: Reach" Legendary Edition materialized in retailer listings for $149.99 with a special case, collectibles and an assortment of in-game armor, as well as a "Legendary Noble 6" sculpture. Bungie waited until nearly the eleventh hour, however, to go into detail about their "two full hours of exclusive, behind-the-scenes campaign commentary covering unrevealed aspects of 'Halo: Reach''s production" that are now officially part of the package.
Creative director Marcus Lehto, audio director and composer Marty O’Donnell, cinematics and story lead Lee Wilson and effects lead Steve Scott will all contribute to the extra content, according to a post on Bungie.net. Their reflections will cover "a full campaign play-through, from start to finish." It will be "judiciously edited to excise the downtime and deliver only the most impactful moments," however, so it sounds like they'll try to keep it lively. Don't watch the commentary before playing "Reach" yourself,...

Since it debuted as a short-lived Internet series in 2007, the Vancouver-shot show Sanctuary has gone from strength to strength.
The series follows the adventures of a group of monster-hunters led by the 150-year-old Dr. Helen Magnus. Magnus, played by Amanda Tapping, is assisted by her protégé, Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) . At various times this pair have also joined forces with Jack the Ripper (a.k.a. John Druitt, played by Christopher Heyerdahl), a sarcastic vampire named Tesla (Jonathon Young), James Watson (supposedly the original inspiration for Sherlock Holmes and played by Peter Wingfield), a computer genius stricken with a form of lycanthropy (Henry Foss, played by Ryan Robbins) and Bigfoot (we were asked to keep his true identity a secret).
These characters illustrate the imaginative mash-up of legends, literature and sci-fi that characterizes Sanctuary. The show has elements reminiscent of The X-Files, Supernatural, Hellboy and The League of Extraordinary Gentleman.

The headline of this story is obviously a bit of a misnomer. Syfy's "Sanctuary," which returns for its second season on Friday (Oct. 9), defines "set" more loosely than most shows. "Sanctuary" travelled the world and journeyed through time in its first season, going from the deepest ocean depths to the Himalayas to Baton Rouge to Victorian England. Most of that journey, though, was done in front of gigantic green screens on a mammoth stage in Vancouver, with most of the heavy lifting coming courtesy of Lee Wilson and his team at Anthem Visual Effects. The effects artists created...

Despite being nominated for Best Drama and having its star Anna Paquin win Best Actress in a TV Drama at this year's Golden Globes, "True Blood" was shut out of the major categories for the 2009 Emmy Awards, which announced its nominees earlier today. But that's not to say it, and a few other genre-related shows, won't be showing up at the party.
Here's a list of the horror-tinged shows that were recognized (with a few others whose fanbase includes a lot of our readers thrown in for good measure):
