It certainly feels like we’re living in an impending Stephen King resurgence on the big screen. The for the past several decades, King has been quickly churning out bestseller after bestseller, and in that time, some of his most passionate readers have grown into talented storytellers of their own. Such is the case with writer/director Josh Boone, the man behind such movies as Stuck in Love and The Fault in Our Stars, who has proven to the quite the Stephen King fanatic. Seriously, one of the characters in Stuck in Love is obsessed with King, and King himself even has a vocal cameo in the flick.
As such, it made sense when Boone was attached to such films as The Stand and Lisey’s Story. One of the more recent King-related projects Boone’s been attached to, however is an adaptation of King’s 2014 novel Revival.

Heh. That S.H.I.E.L.D. cover you reproduce so illegibly small at the column head was knocked off in the ‘80s for the back glass on a pinball machine named “Blackout”.
I had nothing to do with the art, Mike.
I think since no other art on the site is in such a state, perhaps Mr. Gold did so purposely. He’s fed up with my stuff arriving with but a few minutes to spare and what better way to show me he’s not standing for my shit than sending me a “I’m not standing for your shit’”email this?

James Ponsoldt’s The Spectacular Now, one of the most beloved films of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and a summer counter-programming hit, is out today on Blu-ray and DVD. Writing about the movie in this magazine, Scott Macaulay wrote, “Shot widescreen in Ponsoldt’s hometown of Athens, Ga., The Spectacular Now is a wonderfully nuanced tale of two young people falling in love, as well as an honest drama about life choices and the fight to transcend failures that in the haze of adolescence only seem inevitable. ABC Family is going super dark with a possible new project. "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," based on the 1992 film of the same name, is in early stages of production as an episodic series at the cable network.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the R-rated film will be turned into a TV series, written by Daniel Loflin ("Supernatural"). Loflin will executive produce as well, along with Ted Field (one of the film's original producers) and Mike Weber.
The story of this thriller focuses on a young and beautiful nanny who begins to dismantle and terrorize an affluent, suburban family through her job. Rebecca De Mornay and Annabella Sciorra starred in the movie, which made $88 million at the box office in its original release.

20th Century Fox is currently pushing forward with a re-imagining of the long standing pop culture character is animated form. The latest news on the project reveals that it sill in the very early development stages. King Kong, last seen in the 2005 live-action/CGI hybrid film by director Jackson, will get a revamp of sorts with a new animated film. The story will be told from Kong's point of view, and Fox Animation (Ice Age, Rio) has tapped relative unknowns Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow to develop the screenplay based off an already written story from Mike Weber. Producer Shawn Levy recently offered a few words concerning the project, stating that it is still in the early stages of conceptualization: “It’s an animated movie for Fox Animation and it’s a retelling of Kong as a...

Someone over at Fox clearly has a love of primates. As has been widely reported, the studio is hard at work prepping Rise of the Planet of the Apes for its wide release this August. That’s not the only monkey business the studio has up their sleeve, though. Deadline New York is reporting that the company is also developing a new twist on a classic tale: King Kong. Fox’s animation division has tapped Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow to craft an animated take of much loved movie – the wrinkle here is that the new Kong will be presented from the gorilla’s point of view. Based on a story by Mike Weber (who will serve as a producer), this updated take on Kong’s plight sounds pretty interesting. Let’s face it – Kong in the films was never...

Even with Rise of the Planet of the Apes rapidly approaching, 20th Century Fox isn't ready to quit monkeying around! Speaking of monkeys, the biggest of them all is getting ready to tell an entirely different tale.
According to Deadline, Fox Animation has set the team of Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow to write a modern-day twist on the King Kong story. It will be animated and will tell the story from the vantage point of the ape. The flick will be based on a story by Mike Weber, who'll also produce.
We wonder if the big guy's last thoughts before falling from that famed tall building will simply be, "Oh, shit!" More on this as it comes.

20th Century Fox is seemingly interested in simian-themed films by now. While prepping to release "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" debut in U.S. theaters on August 5, the studio is said proposing an animated "King Kong" film.
Deadline first broke the news, reporting that Fox takes on 1933's "King Kong" and has hired Magalhaes and Bob Snow to pen "a modern day twist" for the new "King Kong (2013)" film. The forthcoming animation flick will have a story told from the ape's point of view, and will be based on a story by Mike Weber. In the meantime, Shawn Levy and Ted Field will serve as the producers.
"King Kong" has been remade or reimaginated for several times, including a 1976 film with a 1986 sequel "King Kong Lives". Director of "The Lord of the Rings" film series, Peter Jackson, also made a reimagination of the film in 2005's "King Kong", starring Naomi Watts,...

Fox is jumping feet first into the monkey business. This summer they have the awkwardly named Rise of the Planet of the Apes headed for theaters and now they.ve started work on a new simian themed film project. Or maybe I should say an old one, since what they.re doing is repurposing King Kong, yet again. The twist this time is that Kong will be animated. Deadline says Fox Animation has hired Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow to write the script, based on a story invented by Mike Weber, which will be set in the modern day and tell the classic giant monkey run-amok in the big city tale entirely from the perspective of King Kong. Smells like talking monkey time, to me. No official word yet on whether the monkey will talk, but Magalhaes & Snow are reportedly actually pretty good screenwriters, so there's hope here. They haven.t...

The classic tale -- last brought to the silver screen by director Peter Jackson and Universal Pictures in 2005 -- is looking to be retold again, but this time in a different fashion and perspective. King Kong, last seen in the 2005 rendition from Peter Jackson, will get a revamp of sorts with a new animated film. The story will be told from Kong's point of view himself. Fox Animation (Ice Age, Rio) has tapped relative unknowns Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow for the screenplay based off an already written story from Mike Weber. The iconic character started on film with the 1933 classic and had two remakes with a 1975 version starring Jeff Bridges and the Jackson version. Along with those, some lower budgeted sequels and knockoffs plus a showdown with Godzilla in 1963 have kept the...

20th Century Fox is developing an animated take on the 1933 classic King Kong , Deadline reports. Said to be an modern re-telling of the "beauty and the beast" tale and told from Kong's point of view, Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow (who previously teamed for a short entitled "Bunny," directed by Snow) are attached to draft the project with Shawn Levy's company, 21 Laps, producing. Mike Weber, who holds the story credit, is also producing. Since the Merian C. Cooper-produced original, King Kong has been remade or reimagined several times over, including in a direct sequel (also released in 1933) entitled Son of Kong . Two remakes were also done, one in 1976 (with a 1986 sequel King Kong Lives ) and, more recently, a 2005 version directed by Peter...

Exclusive: American Dad executive producer Nahnatchka Khan is emerging as the comedy star of this buying season with a second half-hour project that sparked heated bidding. A month after Fox won the bidding war for her single-camera family comedy Connected, ABC just landed Khan's relationship comedy Dealbreaker in a similarly competitive situation. Both projects are produced by 20th TV where Khan is under an overall deal. Khan will co-write Dealbreaker, which landed a premium script commitment with penalty from ABC, with American Dad writer Laura McCreary. It is based on the blog by comics Dave Horwitz and Marisa Pinson and their recent book of the same name. The blog and the book are described as a "hilarious reference guide to the qualities that, when discovered, transform the 'date you hope to go home with' into the 'date you pray never calls again'" and as a catalogue of characteristics that serve...

Update: Risky Business contacted Radar exec Mike Weber who claims this rumor is not true but jokes "it's starting to sound like a good idea for a movie." Briefly: I haven't played the Facebook game Mafia Wars, so I can't offer any insight into how it might become a movie. (I've hidden all Mafia Wars actions in my feed, so I don't even see the game any longer.) But Pajiba is reporting that the popular social networking app is making the leap to the big screen, with Ted Field and Radar Pictures sending the project out to writers. Let's see who they get -- I wouldn't have expected anything out of a Lego movie, either, before Phil Lord and Chris Miller were hired. Still, the easy assumption is that this will lead to a pretty generic mob movie in which one guy starts off small and builds a ladder to...

For the fourth consecutive year Hollywood has selected its Black List, a compilation of the top unproduced screenplays for 2009. Over 300 film professionals were asked to submit the titles of up to ten of their favorite screenplays. The only condition for the picks were that the projects would not be released in theaters this year. That means some of the Black List honorees may be in the process of being turned into movies but by far the majority remain thoughts on digital ink, a blueprint for grand dramatic ideas, high-reaching adventure and controversial ideas waiting to be burned to light.
For a screenplay to have made it onto the Black List it must have received at least five votes for it. Some scripts have five votes while the top-rated screenplay received 47 votes. That doesn't mean that the script with the most votes is the best screenplay of the year; it means...
