Winslet shared how uncomfortable she felt when these professionals weren’t hired earlier in her career.
In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Kate Winslet said, “I would have benefited from an intimacy coordinator every single time I had to do a love scene or be partially naked or even a kissing scene. The cast and crew of The Regime descended upon the Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday to celebrate the premiere of their new HBO project.
The political satire series follows Kate Winslet’s Chancellor Elena Vernham as she becomes increasingly paranoid and unstable, turning to volatile soldier Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts) as her unlikely confidant.
Will Tracy, who worked as a writer on Succession, serves as the showrunner for The Regime and explained his elevator pitch for the series was “Downton Abbey but in an autocrat’s palace instead of an English manor house.”
“It’s an imaginary country, but it hopefully feels as though it’s taking place within a geopolitical reality that we would recognize, and that it says something about how foreign policy works and how these regimes thrive and operate,” Tracy told The Hollywood Reporter of the tone. “At the same time,...

"Anyone who dares insult me or my country shall feel my fury!" HBO Max has revealed the final official trailer for The Regime, arriving for streaming in March. Damn does this look wicked! The Regime is a new political thriller dark comedy series created by Will Tracy, now known as the writer of The Menu screenplay, working with British filmmaker Stephen Frears. The series stars Kate Winslet as the dictator of a fictional Middle European autocracy, following along as her regime begins to crumble and her power begins to wane. A twisted (and scarily quite real) story about how insane all these power hungry, autocrat politicians always are. The supporting cast includes Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Martha Plimpton, Guillaume Gallienne, Hugh Grant, and Danny Webb. This looks crazy! It's just barely at the border of crossing over into absurd territory and becoming a Mike Myers comedy, especially with bathtub TV scene.

Kate Winslet is striking fear into the hearts of her not-so-loyal subjects in HBO‘s The Regime teaser trailer. From Will Tracy and Frank Rich, the complex minds behind Succession, comes a limited series about power, corruption, and subterfuge.
The Regime “tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of a modern European regime as it begins to unravel.”
“Since I became your Chancellor, we have grown considerably as a country. It is time to show America and the world precisely what we are worth,” Winslet’s Chancellor says in The Regime teaser trailer while addressing a crowd, asserting her authority. The vibes in the room quickly become hostile, eliciting fear and confusion about who’s in charge of the population’s wellbeing.
Joining the previously announced cast of Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton and Hugh Grant, the newly announced cast members include Danny Webb,...

Kate Winslet learns that it’s lonely at the top in the official teaser trailer for The Regime. The HBO limited series, premiering March 3, finds the actress in the role of an English chancellor whose metaphorical crown is slipping. HBO and Kate Winslet’s fruitful creative relationship will continue with The Regime, a limited series set to premiere in 2024. The premium cabler released a teaser for the series Wednesday at a Warner Bros. Discovery press event.
Formerly titled The Palace, the series from Succession writer and executive producer Will Tracy tells the story of a year inside the palace of a “modern European regime” as it starts to unravel. (That description is a slight tweak from an earlier logline that called the government in question “an authoritarian regime.”)
The teaser mostly focuses on a meeting between Winslet’s chancellor and a U.S. emissary played by Martha Plimpton. “We need you to demonstrate credibility to us — trustworthiness,” Plimpton’s character says.
“All we are doing is realizing our dream — our dream of a new Europe, without limits, without cruelty. There are times when one must choose the hardest road.

Kate Winslet is striving for more than just world peace as she sets her mind on crafting a “new Europe” as Madame Chancellor in HBO’s new political drama “The Regime.”
The official teaser, which was revealed during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service Wednesday, showcases a tense confrontation between Winslet and an American diplomat (Martha Plimpton) who attempts to convince the chancellor the U.S. would like to help “enhance” Winslet’s authority in the region — a goal that was, evidently, not pressing enough that the President could attend the meeting.
“All we are doing is realizing our dream, our dream of a new Europe, without limits, without cruelty,” the chancellor says as she engages in, shall we say, less dignified actions to get her point across, including punching an unknown victim. “There are times when one must choose the hardest road; I have chosen...

Warning: contains spoilers for Endeavour Series 9 Episode 3 ‘Exeunt’.
That was one for the Morse faithful. The last time fans had seen Arthur Lott was in Endeavour’s 2012 pilot episode. Then a detective sergeant, Lott had been run out of Oxford by Fred Thursday for having corrupt connections to local criminals. His departure left Thursday short of a bagman, which opened up a position for a certain bright young constable from Carshall Newtown, and the rest, as they say, is history.
In the Endeavour finale, Lott (Danny Webb) returned to Oxford and stepped out from the shadows to reveal himself as the string-pulling enforcer behind the Blenheim Vale cover-up. Lott and a cabal of corrupt London officers were the ones issuing threats, bullets and hotshots to keep the child abuse scandal quiet. Lott was even behind the Series 5 loss of Fred Thursday’s life savings. Here’s his story on the show.

Lott and a cabal of corrupt London officers were the ones issuing threats, bullets and hotshots to keep the child abuse scandal quiet. Lott was even behind the Series 5 loss of Fred Thursday’s life savings. Here’s his story on the show.

The limited nine-week engagement begins previews October 18, with an official opening October 26 at The Shed’s Griffin Theater as part of the venue’s fall 2022 season.

With solid universe and character building, Pennyworth turns in a great second episode.

This Pennyworth review contains spoilers.
Pennyworth Season 1 Episode 2
In its second episode, Pennyworth does much to build its alternate universe Great Britain by tweaking Victorian-era elements for the version of the 1960s, and introducing more eccentric characters into the mix for a compelling, thrilling, scary, and funny story that feels like Guy Ritchie’s Gotham By Gaslight.
In an exclusive Den of Geek preview for the episode, titled “The Landlord’s Daughter,” it appeared that Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) would play a large part this week. Not so. Thomas does indeed offer Alfie an “honorable” job, but it thoroughly rebuffed, and exits for the remainder of the story. Though his presence hangs over the proceedings when Scotland Yard’s Aziz (Ramon Tikaram) warns Pennyworth that “someone” may try to recruit the former Sas operative for a secret society.

Two of my favorite actors, and especially actors who aren’t given enough juicy roles in the industry, happen to be John Cusack and Emile Hirsch. Both are talented actors who have had brushes with Oscar but never quite gotten to that Academy Award nomination. The former has been somewhat stuck in a rut of generic action outings of late, while the latter just isn’t working enough. To see them together in something always seemed like a treat in the making. Well, this week brings them face to face in a quality little Western called Never Grow Old. The film is a nice little effort, buoyed by strong work from the both of them. This is a Western, in all of its simple charm. Taking place in the peaceful frontier town of Garlow, home to Undertaker Patrick Tate (Emile Hirsch) and his family, we’ll see it turn into...

"Do you feel proud of yourself?!" Saban Films has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie western titled Never Grow Old, which is a shortened version of the original working title Where We'll Never Grow Old. This gritty western takes place at an American frontier town. The plot is about an Irish undertaker who profits when outlaws take over a peaceful town, but his family comes under threat as the death toll rises. Emile Hirsch plays the undertaker, and the cast includes John Cusack, Déborah François, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Danny Webb, Anne Coesens, Blake Berris, Paul Reid, as well as Léa Seydoux. Another western about a bunch of outlaws roughing up a town? How original. The cinematography in this looks so bad, so poorly lit in every scene. Don't think this dastardly new western is going to impress anyone. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Ivan Kavanagh's Never Grow Old,...

Brian Cox as “Winston Churchill” in Churchill, directed by Jonathan Teplitzky. Photo courtesy of Cohen Media Group (c)
Brian Cox portrays Winston Churchill in a dramatization of the events just prior to the D-Day invasion of France by Allied forces during World War II in Churchill. Directed Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man, BBC’s Indian Summers television series) from a script by historian Alex Von Tunzelmann, Churchill aims to get beneath the usual familiar image of Churchill as a gruff, cigar-chewing British bulldog to create a fuller human portrait of the man who grappled with deep depression and fears of failure while leading his country through its darkest hours.
It is an admirable aim but unfortunately the film falls far short of its goal. Led by an overheated performance by Cox, Churchill stages a last-minute attempt to stop the 1944 Normandy Invasion, gripped with fear that it would fail. Less than a week before D-Day,...

Nb: The following contains a mild spoiler for Prometheus as well as earlier films in the Alien franchise.
See related Looking back at Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
When Prometheus emerged in 2012, it took the franchise in a very different direction - well away from the dark, metallic corridors of the main Alien movies and into broader sci-fi territory. Sure, Ridley Scott's Alien prequel contained plenty of slithering things and a splash of blood here and there, but the director evidently had bigger things on his mind than facehuggers and xenomorphs: the origins of life on Earth, godlike beings from the other side of the galaxy, and exactly how they came to crash-land on to encounter - or perhaps even create - the title Alien from Scott's 1979 classic.
