A lawyer for Donald Trump continued to hammer away this morning at changing details over the years in Stormy Daniels’ accounts of a 2006 sexual encounter with Trump — and got plenty of pushback from the adult entertainer turned high-profile witness in Trump’s hush money trial.
During rapid fire, back-and-forth sparring that lasted almost three hours, Susan Necheles also said that Daniels — after collecting $130,000 for a non-disclosure agreement — eagerly sold her memoir, hawked merchandise, appeared on a reality TV show, sat for a documentary film, advertised herself as a spiritual medium, and toured as an adult dancer using her “supposed” sexual encounter with Trump as the hook.
Necheles estimated that Daniels had made $1 million or more from assorted ventures after becoming known for an adulterous sexual encounter with Trump, and she said Daniels’ once told a writer for Slate “you either wanted money or you were going to hurt him politically.

Standing outside Donald Trump’s criminal trial, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) suggested he, like Trump, was the victim of unfair political persecution — pointing to the Justice Department’s inquiry into his hospital chain, which paid $1.7 billion to resolve Medicare fraud charges.
“I’m fed up,” Scott said Thursday. “I watched what happened to me and my company. I’ve talked to businesspeople over the years [about] what’s happened to them, when you have political persecution. And now what I’ve watched with [former] President Trump with all these cases. This is...

Donald Trump’s hush money trial has once again veered into uncharted waters — this time in the form of a debate over who’s an “orange turd.”
On the second day of testimony from adult film actress Stormy Daniels — the woman Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen paid off to cover up an alleged affair with the former president ahead of the 2016 election — Trump’s defense team continued their attempts to poke holes in Daniel’s credibility, trying to paint her as a money-grubbing porn star “making phony stories about...

“Pam & Tommy” stars Sebastian Stan and Lily James will reunite to star in psychological horror thriller “Let the Evil Go West.”
The film sounds very different from Stan and James’ previous collaboration, which saw them playing Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson in a Hulu mini-series. In “Let the Evil Go West,” a railroad worker stumbles upon a fortune under deeply disturbing circumstances. As horrifying visions and manifestations drive him toward madness, his wife becomes convinced that an evil presence has attached itself to their family.
Christian Tafdrup is set to direct from a screenplay by Xc Vs. The film is produced by Tim and Trevor White (“King Richard”) under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner, Mark Fasano and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media, which is also financing the film, and Allan Mandelbaum. Stan and James will also executive produce along with Gramercy Park’s Joshua Harris and Ford Corbett and north.five.six.

Like many film executives, Tamara Birkemoe spends much of the Cannes Film Festival sprinting from lunches to drinks to dinners, as she meets with potential distributors, financiers and filmmakers. Most nights, the Palisades Park CEO hosts a cocktail hour at the company’s temporary headquarters directly across from the Palais des Festivals, where Cannes’ biggest premieres are held.
“We are looking to dazzle people,” she says, noting that her office boasts a commanding view of the red carpet. “We want to entertain people in fancy places and impress them with our presentation. This is the entertainment business after all, so you might as well work hard, but have fun while you’re doing it.”
That glamour that Birkemoe and others seek in the south of France continues to be the defining feature of Cannes as it prepares to launch its 77th edition this month. But despite the parties on the sparkling Riviera,...

The ABC sitcom The Conners was renewed on May 2 for Season 7, which the network has announced will be the show's last.
That final season, which will wrap the series up with an abbreviated order of six episodes, will bring to a close a saga that began in 1988.
We first met the Conners that year on the first season of Roseanne, a long-running series on ABC that ran until 1997.
The series was created by the famous comedian Roseanne Barr, who also starred as a character named Roseanne.
More than 20 years later, Roseanne was revived, with the majority of the original cast, once again on ABC. The revival was a big ratings success that led to its immediate renewal for a second season.

Eric Schultz knows his way around politics. The Washington, D.C. consultant served as deputy White House press secretary during the Obama Administration from 2014-2017. He’s also worked for Sen. Charles Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
But in the last few years, he’s been getting very familiar with Hollywood, consulting for shows like “Succession” and most recently Alex Garland’s A24 drama “Civil War.”
But now, he’s going in front of the camera. Schultz makes his acting debut with a cameo on Thursday’s season finale of Max’s “The Girls on the Bus.” He plays a press aide who Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist) must convince to let her into a VIP cocktail party at the Democratic National Convention.
“They reached out of the blue and asked me, ‘Would you like to make a cameo?’” Schultz tells me. “It took me probably a nanosecond to say yes.

The Republican National Convention has selected Barron Trump, the 18-year-old son of the former president, to serve as a delegate for the state of Florida at this year’s GOP presidential nomination convention this summer— where he is expected to vote for his father.
Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is serving as co-chair of the Republican National Committee and, according to a list of delegates obtained by several news outlets, the convention will be a family affair.

Donald Trump’s hush money trial resumes today with one of his chief antagonists, Stormy Daniels, returning to the stand and court observers wondering if the former and possible future president is close to being thrown into jail.
Whatever happens inside the courtroom, there may no longer be photographers to document it.
Judge Juan Merchan has barred photography inside the courtroom for the remainder of the trial after one of the pool photographers reportedly violated the judge’s rules by taking a picture of Trump from the side, as he walked into the well, instead of waiting for him to be seated with his lawyers, according to a dispatch this morning from pool reporters stationed in the hallway who said they received the news from a court officer.

Former President Donald Trump mocked Democratic Sen. Jon Tester’s (D-Montana) weight, stating that he “looks pregnant.”
Trump made these remarks on May 4 during a private fundraising event at his Mar-a-Lago resort for Rep. Ronnie Jackson (R-Texas), who had been the former president’s White House physician. Tester helped torpedo Jackson’s nomination for Veteran’s Secretary during the Trump administration.
“He’s now in a tough campaign, and he could very well lose,” Trump stated about Tester. “We ought to go up and campaign against him. In fact, I looked at him and I said, ‘Oh, this finally works for a man or woman, because he looks pregnant to me.'”
The audience laughed as the former president kept speaking.

When “A People’s History of Black Twitter” was published in 2021, the social media platform appeared powerful as ever. As it had been for over a decade, the site was a hub of community and influence, where users might go to bullshit with friends, to organize with activists, to read and report news in real time, maybe even to mingle with a celebrity or two. Sure, it had its problems with trolls or bots or poor moderation; sure, TikTok was already moving in fast. But Twitter seemed to be, if not thriving, at least chugging along with no obvious end in sight.
A lot can change in three years, however — and a lot has, particularly since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the site in 2022. Onyx Collective’s Black Twitter: A People’s History reiterates and expands on Jason Parham’s Wired article, braiding together interviews with journalists, comedians and other commentators...

Joe Biden sat for an interview with a mainstream, national news outlet, — a not-too-common occurrence. And while the clear intent in his chat with CNN’s Erin Burnett was to show a contrast with Donald Trump on the economy, the headline was what the president said about Israel.
“I made it clear that if they go into Rafah — they haven’t gone into Rafah yet — but if they go into Rafah , I am not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, that deal with the cities, that deal with that problem,” Biden said. “We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks… but it’s just wrong. We are not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells that have been used” by the Israelis.

Marjorie Taylor Greene forced a vote to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday evening, a move her colleagues in Congress quickly voted to kill.
The House voted 359-43 to table the motion, with 193 Republicans siding with 163 Democrats in striking it down.
Greene has been teasing that she will force a vote to oust Johnson despite garnering virtually no support for the move, and former President Donald Trump reportedly telling her over the weekend to drop the stunt. She seemed ready to do so yesterday, but went ahead and forced the vote on Wednesday.

“Nebraska,” the follow-up to Springsteen’s 1980 double album “The River,” was expected to be a blockbuster rock record with the E Street Band. Adult film actress Stormy Daniels testified on Tuesday in a Manhattan court and recounted salacious details of her alleged affair with Donald Trump.
Daniels, who spoke rapidly with animated gestures, described an encounter in which she spanked Trump with a rolled-up magazine with his face on the cover. The vivid description of the occasion in her testimony led to visible smirks from some jurors. It elicited a reported profanity from Trump, who mouthed his disapproval, ‘That’s bull—-,’ to his legal team.
Throughout Daniels’ testimony, Trump was visibly frustrated and shook his head in disagreement. Daniels claimed that Trump had reassured her not to worry about his wife, Melania, as they didn’t “even sleep in the same room.” This statement seemed to agitate the former president further, who exhibited signs of anger and was later cautioned by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan for his audible curse and head shakes,...

Jimmy Kimmel had Seth Meyers on his show last month, and now Meyers is repaying the favor.
For the first time ever, Jimmy Kimmel will appear as a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers next Monday, May 13th.
Kimmel has plenty of projects to promote. In addition to Jimmy Kimmel Live, he’s an executive producer on the Hulu reality series High Times, and he’ll host the newly revived celebrity primetime edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire this summer.
Plus, with Kimmel’s recent mention in former President Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal trial, one imagines the two will have a lot to talk about.
The pair appearing on each other’s shows comes after last year’s Strike Force Five podcast solidified bonds between each of the five major late-night hosts: Kimmel, Meyers, John Oliver, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert.

Democratic political consultants have some advice if you’d prefer not to have companies track your every move and sell that data to campaigns: avoid mobile games like Candy Crush.
“Political campaigns are a perfect microcosm of the data economy,” Raffi Krikorian, the host of the Technically Optimistic podcast tells Rolling Stone. “You have data brokers who are gonna sell you information, so I can create a model of who I should persuade and turn out and an election. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says a doctor once suspected a worm literally ate part of his brain, according to a new report from The New York Times.
According to the Times, in a 2012 deposition related to divorce proceedings against his second wife, Rfk Jr. detailed a litany of health concerns he said would diminish his future earnings potential. Among these was an incident in which Kennedy’s doctors identified a dark spot in one of his brain scans after he raised concerns of memory fog and impaired cognitive ability.

While there are certainly a lot of changes going on in his life right now, this is something that he doesn’t need to deal with.
There’s heavy speculation that suggests Barron Trump might actually be worried about his father Donald Trump and what the future might have in store for him.
That’s because if he is found guilty and convicted in his hush money trial, there’s a very good chance that the former president might spend the next several years in prison.
That’s the last thing that any child wants to see for their parents, and especially not Barron, given everything that he’s going through right now. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Remember when Donald Trump, at the height of the pandemic, urged his health advisors to explore the effectiveness of introducing household disinfectants directly into Americans’ bloodstreams? Well, the details of Tuesday’s proceedings in Trump’s ongoing trial over his alleged criminal efforts to conceal damaging personal scandals through hush money payments had many of those same Americans contemplating a similarly ill-advised brain-based bleach treatment.
That’s because Stephanie Clifford, best known as Stormy Daniels in her successful adult film career, testified today about the details of her one night with the married future presidential candidate in a golf tournament hotel room while his wife Melania was home recovering from the birth of the couple’s only child. Former President Donald Trump plans on having the “largest mass deportation effort ever” if he is reelected as president, he told Time magazine recently. Since his 2016 campaign and presidency, Trump has taken a muscular approach to immigration, starting with his promise to “build the wall,” which barely made any progress during his term.
Trump’s new plan would target millions of undocumented migrants across the United States. Efforts are comparable to former President Dwight Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetback” in 1954, which deported over one million migrants. The resources Trump needs for such a large-scale operation have been unclear.
The former president has said he intends to utilize local law enforcement and the National Guard. Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said such efforts would require expanding Ice, collaborating with the State Department and getting more funding from Congress.

Republican Arizona Senate Candidate Kari Lake has flipped her position on the state’s 1864 abortion ban – for a second time, stating that it is “unfortunate” that Arizona is not enforcing the law.
On April 9, the Arizona Supreme Court issued a ruling to reinstate the ban, which resulted in instant position changes among Republicans who previously backed it, including Lake.
The Court overturned a 2022 law that permitted abortions up to 15 weeks, clearing the way for an 1864 ban that forbids the procedure except when needed to save the mother’s life.
The state’s highest Court first heard arguments on the case in December 2023 after the Arizona Court of Appeals determined that the two inconsistent abortion bans needed to be in harmony.
In a 4-2 decision, the justices said that the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the federal law that safeguarded abortion rights until viability, meant that there was no longer...

As Stormy Daniels took the stand in Donald Trump’s hush money trial today, the judge in the case complained to the former president’s lawyer that he could hear his client “cursing audibly” about what was being said.
The judge, Juan Merchan, even suggested that Trump’s behavior put him again at risk of contempt of court.
“I understand that your client is upset at this point, but he is cursing audibly, and he is shaking his head visually and that’s contemptuous,” Merchan told Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, according to a transcript of a sidebar conversation between the two.
Merchan added, “It has to potential to intimidate the witness and the jury can see that.”
Blanche said that he would talk to Trump. The judge said that he wanted to speak to Blanche and not to Trump directly “because I don’t want to embarrass him.”

Update: Stormy Daniels faced a contentious cross examination today over her claim that she had sex with Donald Trump in 2006 and that, five years later, a stranger threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot to not talk about the sexual encounter publicly.
Susan Necheles, a lawyer for Trump, questioned Daniels’ motivations and tried to cast doubt on her story. She also highlighted the fact that Daniels owes more than $500,000 in legal fees from a failed defamation lawsuit against Trump.
Necheles argued that as far back as 2011, Daniels was alternately confirming or denying sex with Trump depending on whether she was being paid for her story.
A $130,000 payment to Daniels in 2016 from Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, is the centerpiece of the Manhattan District Attorney’s case against Trump, for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal a reimbursement of the money to Cohen. Daniels, a key prosecution witness, spent more...

Donald Trump‘s trial start date over his mishandling of classified documents has been pushed back thanks to a Florida judge overseeing the case. On Tuesday, District Judge Aileen M. Cannon indefinitely postponed the trial, previously scheduled for May 20, increasing the odds that Trump’s hush money trial in New York may be the only one he faces prior to the election in November.
In her order Tuesday, Cannon made it clear that she intends to resolve multiple pending pre-trial issues that both parties will have to meet before a new trial date is set.

Donald Trump’s trial on charges that he obstructed justice and withheld classified documents has been delayed indefinitely, a federal judge wrote in an order today.
The decision by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon means that it is all the more likely that Trump’s hush money trial may be the only criminal proceeding he faces before the November election. Last year, Trump was indicted four separate times in cases in New York, Florida, Georgia and Washington, D.C.
Cannon wrote that the “finalization of a trial date at this juncture” would be “imprudent and inconsistent with the Court’s duty to fully and fairly consider the various pending pre-trial motions before the Court, critical [Classified Information Procedures Act] issues, and additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury.”

The offices of Jimmy Kimmel Live! must be abuzz today.
For the second time in less than a week, Jimmy Kimmel and his late-night show were brought up in former President Donald Trump’s ongoing hush money trial.
Stormy Daniels took the stand at Trump’s trial today, where she was asked during her testimony about her January 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
It was in that interview that Kimmel brought up a letter Daniels had allegedly signed denying she had an affair with Trump. When Kimmel asked whether the signature was authentic, Daniels gave a cagey reply that implied that it wasn’t.
Kimmel’s interview was first brought up in court on May 2nd when the prosecution entered into evidence text messages that Trump’s then-attorney Michael Cohen sent to Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Keith Davidson. In the texts, Cohen reacted with concern to Daniels’ appearance on Kimmel’s show.

In a surprising moment during a regularly scheduled press briefing about public safety statistics, the Columbia University protests, migrant centers, the proliferation of illegal weed shops and Mayor Eric Adams’ upcoming trip to meet the Pope in Rome, a curveball question pressed Adams on the possible, if unlikely, jailing of former President Donald Trump.
Asked whether New York City’s Rikers Island complex would be prepared to handle the jailing of Trump, or if the city had any plans in place for such a situation, Adams said the city’s corrections officials “will be ready.”

Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) would not commit to accepting the outcome of the 2024 presidential election in a new interview. The South Carolina senator is on former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential shortlist.
On Sunday, Meet the Press host Kristen Welker asked Scott, “You voted to certify the election results of 2020. It’s the opposite of what you said and did after 2020. Why would you want to be on a ticket with someone where there’s such a fundamental difference?”
“There is clear facts here,” Scott replied. “President Trump himself said he expects this election to be fair. He expects it to be honest. And he expects to win. That’s what the presidential candidate should expect. And I expect the exact same thing. And frankly, the American people agree with him. This is an issue that is not an issue. So I’m not going to make it an issue.

Hugely popular social media platform TikTok and its Chinese parent ByteDance sued the U.S. government after a recent law passed by Congress and signed by President Biden just weeks ago that gives the company about nine months to sell TikTok or face a ban in U.S. app stores.
TikTok says the new law violates the U.S. Constitution and its First Amendment rights. The suit, or petition, filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., was not unexpected as ByteDance has said it has no intention of selling TikTok and vowed to fight. TikTok insists that its U.S. user date is protected.
“There is no question: the Act will force a shutdown of TikTok by January 19, 2025,” the lawsuit states, “silencing the 170 million Americans who use the platform to communicate in ways that cannot be replicated elsewhere,” the suit says. “For the first time in history,...

Joe Biden sharply condemned the rise of antisemitism in the United States, including incidents that have played out on college campuses amid pro-Palestinian protests.
Speaking at a Capitol Hill event to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day, Biden also warned that “people are already forgetting” that it was Hamas “that unleashed this terror” in the attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
“It was Hamas who brutalized Israelis. It was Hamas who took and continues to hold hostages,” Biden said. “I have not forgotten nor have you, and we will not forget.”
Cable news networks carried Biden’s remarks, briefly breaking away from coverage of Stormy Daniels’ testimony in Donald Trump’s hush money case.
