During the climax of Richard Marquand's 1983 film "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," the evil Empire's second Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Army, the ghoulish Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) was killed, and his right-hand warlock Darth Vader (David Prowse) died in the conflagration. It seemed that evil had been vanquished and that everything was well in the galaxy. For many, many years, fans didn't see what happened after that film, presumably because a new era of peace had begun and the Star Wars were over.
It wasn't until the release of J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015 that we learned the dark truth. It seems the universe of "Star Wars" can't help but creep back slowly toward fascism with every generation. Decades after the fall of the Empire, the New Order rose in its place, now even more Nazi-like than ever. Stormtroopers were back,...

Fyi -- the area has been pounded with a historic amount of rain.

Chiefs legend Neil Smith just became even more legendary in Kansas City ... rescuing a woman he says was "about 9 months pregnant" trapped in a K.C.-area flood on Tuesday. It all went down in Lee Summit, Missouri ... where Smith drove by a woman whose minivan was stalled on a dangerously flooded road. The 6-time Pro Bowler quickly rushed to her aid -- using his 6'4'', near-300 pound frame to guide her out of the waist-high water.

‘Game of Thrones’: Richard Dormer Explains How That Game-Changing Resurrection Was Allowed to Happen
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Game of Thrones” Season 7, Episode 6, “Beyond the Wall.”]
“Game of Thrones” gave the White Walkers a weapon in this week’s episode that helped balance the scales between good and evil. The unfortunate part is that it could have been prevented.
Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) had swooped in on her dragon to save Jon Snow (Kit Harington), but just as it seemed like they would make their escape unscathed, the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) lobbed a magical ice spear at one of Dany’s other dragons, killing Viserion in midair and causing him to crash down into the freezing lake below. At the end of the episode, the Night King had the creature dragged out of the water and turned into one of his own followers, an undead dragon to do his bidding.

Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures have released the first photo of Scarlett Johansson as Major in their co-production live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. Shooting has started in Wellington, New Zealand, and the press release came with this official synopsis:
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “Ghost In The Shell” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
I've never read the original manga series or seen the anime feature, so I'm going into this one with very little context. Hopefully director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and The Huntsman) will focus more heavily on the story this time around; I'm still interested in seeing him put his visual skills to good use,...

5.4 Sons Of The Harpy
I am not sure who creates the fight scenes for Game Of Thrones, but they clearly need a raise. From what I've been able to track down on the show's very exhaustive cast list, the man responsible for the fights in this week's episode is Paul Shapcott, who did similar work on the various Peter Jackson Tolkien films and multiple seasons of Spartacus, two very popular, very clever properties that depended a great deal on swords to advance the plot. I know there are many more people involved in the stabbing and slashing aspects of Game Of Thrones: Pedro Pascal's wushu spear trainer Master Hu took a bite out of the Mountain, swordmaster Cc Smiff was the mastermind behind Brienne...

It turns out that this franchise may have ran its course with them as they weren't too positive about it, giving it an overall 32 score out of a possible 100 across 16 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The movie stars: Famke Janssen, Liam Neeson, Dougray Scott, Forest Whitaker, Maggie Grace, Leland Orser and Sam Spruell. We've provided blurbs from a few of the critics, below. Kyle Anderson at Entertainment Weekly, gave it a 67 score, stating: "It's a testament to Neeson's startling charisma as an action star that for all its storytelling flaws, large swaths of Taken 3 remain wildly entertaining." Tom Huddleston from Time Out London, gave it a 60 grade, stating: "Taken 3 scores over its predecessor on almost every level: the stakes are higher,...

In a touching moment Wednesday, a proud Prince Harry introduced the British team - and their dog mascot - who are taking part in the Paralympic-style Invictus Games that he helped create. Lining up in front of members of the 130-strong team on the banks of the River Thames in London, Harry, 29, said, "I cannot wait to watch this team competing against the other nations" in four weeks. More than 400 competitors from 14 nations (including the USA) will take part in the Games for wounded warriors in London from Sept. 10-14. "I'd like to congratulate you on making the team," the casually dressed prince told them.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, better known as the murderous Ser Gregor Clegane (nicknamed The Mountain) on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is a pretty impressive guy, physically and otherwise. At 6’9″ and 419 pounds, he competes on Iceland’s strongman circuit, and even finished second in the 2014 World’s Strongest Man competition.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Björnsson revealed his training regimen (including eating 8,000 calories a day), his memories from being on set, and his opinion of his native country (“We have the most beautiful women and the strongest men”).

Gwendoline Christie wants to reveal her big secret. We were sitting on a wooden bench on the Game of Thrones set in Croatia last September and talking about standard character details — Brienne’s relationship with Jaime, her new suit of armor, her run-in with Cersei. But there was something the passionate and high-spirited Christie was holding back. Something that she was incredibly excited about for this season, yet wasn’t supposed to mention because it was a huge finale spoiler that’s not in George R.R. Martin’s novels. Would I promise to keep it secret, keep it safe? Would...

4.8 The Mountain And The Viper
The ultimate theme of Game Of Thrones, or I guess of A Song Of Ice And Fire as well, is that there's no such thing as a happy ending. Fighting and dying, marrying, bleeding, joining together and breaking apart... it's all about as useful as beetles getting smashed in the garden and you can do about as much to stop it. The hand of fate comes down, soft innards get scattered across a killing floor courtesy of a giant. However, the broken heads are perhaps less damaging than the broken hearts, and there are a lot of those going on.
The fight scene that gives this episode its name, between the Mountain That Rides and the Red Viper of Dorne, is not just a matchup...

Back in September, when MTV News caught up with "The Three Musketeers" director Paul W.S. Anderson, he promised audiences a swashbuckling good time when his latest movie hits theaters. Now that its release date is finally here, fans can judge it for themselves.
Based on the beloved and familiar tale of adventure, intrigue and that famous "All for one, and one for all" motto, the film features an ensemble cast: Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Ray Stevenson, Matthew Macfadyen, Luke Evans, Juno Temple, James Corden and Mads Mikkelsen.
Critics seem to enjoy the film's just-for-fun factor and hi-tech visuals — especially the ornate costumes. Speaking to the performances and continuity,...

Actor says Dark of the Moon will be his final Transformers film as critics lay into Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's debut performance
It's the kind of film franchise that Hollywood studios dream of: preposterously profitable, endlessly revampable and utterly critic-proof. Yet one rather important figure in the success of the Transformers series has made it clear enough is enough. Star Shia Labeouf, who plays Sam Witwicky, says the newly released third instalment will be his final film in the hotseat.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon debuts across most of the world today, with box office analysts predicting another spectacular financial return for the Michael Bay-directed series' first 3D instalment despite damning reviews. The most recent film in the series, 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, was also pilloried by the critics, yet ended up the year's fourth highest-grossing movie with $836.3m.

Shia Labeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Transformers: Dark of the Moon Total Film has reviewed Michael Bay's latest opus, potential Academy Award Best Picture nominee Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Well, why not? Stranger things have happened. Below are a few snippets from Neil Smith's review. Transformers 3 opens in the Us on June 28. Transformers 3 … might struggle to equal the sheer exhilaration of Bay's 2007 trilogy-starter, but it’s a whole lot more coherent and fulfilling than Revenge Of The Fallen. … Admittedly, it takes a while for the pieces to fall into place and for characters (flesh and metal) to reveal their true colours. But once they do, the stage is set for a final hour of über-destructive robot wars in the streets and skies of Chicago… Now for the bad news. British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is awful – awful! – as Labeouf’s new love interest, sucking the life out of...
