Imagine if the beautiful Ariel in Disney’s animated film The Little Mermaid had sharp teeth and human blood on her lips. Well, that’s exactly what the team behind The Little Mermaid thought when they came up with the concept of this film!
To make one more nostalgic film a traumatic event for the world, Msr Media recently released the trailer for their upcoming horror film. Based on the story by Hans Christen Andersen (the author behind The Little Mermaid), this horrific trailer is everything that Halle Bailey’s film wasn’t!

The Little Mermaid is one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairytales. The story has been made popular by Disney’s 1989 animated feature, which altered a lot of the original story, and which also received a live-action remake in 2023, starring Halle Bailey. But, it seems that this was not the final live-action adaptation of the story, as Msr Media International is bringing us a live-action horror adaptation of Andersen’s story, which recently received its first trailer and poster.
We’re not sure that anyone wanted this, but the horrible slasher Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey opened the door for such endeavors, and based on the information we have, we’re in for a series of (probably bad) low-budget horror adaptations of beloved children’s tales that will satisfy only those with the strongest of stomachs and lowest of expectations.

Following in the wake of Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse getting their own horror movies, Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid is the next to get the twisted treatment.

The Little Mermaid is being distributed by Grindstone Entertainment Group, and the film has officially been rated “R” this week for “Language, some violence and brief nudity.”

Black Noise is the latest film to follow in the footsteps of Predator and takes a group of highly trained professional soldiers and sends them to a remote location on what should be a simple mission only for it to turn into a battle with something beyond their comprehension. Earlier this year Island Escape added a few twists to make it feel fresh, can Black Noise pull off the same feat?
A large man, uniformed and armed, flees through a Carribean rainforest. Whatever he’s running from must be dangerous, his uniform is torn and he’s battered, bloody, and panicked to the point of shooting at moving foliage. What do you get when you cross bio-engineering, strippers, deadly fish, gold-flake cinnamon drank, and lovable losers? You get awesome, is what you get. This particular serving of awesome is called 'Piranha Sharks', and it comes to you from the mind of one Leigh Scott. Sigh. Yes, 'Transmorphers' Leigh Scott. No, this is not 'Transmorphers'. Relax.
Piranha Sharks are bio-engineered creatures, that are repackaged, and targeted towards kids, as the year's hot new Christmas item. However, when the animals make their way into the New York water system, it falls on Jackson (Collin Galyean), and his pest-killing buddies (John Wells, and Josh Hammond) to get rid of them, before they destroy the city.
The writing works first, to set this film apart. It takes a shot at many of the cheesy indie cliches, with hilarious class, and accuracy.

First there were Sea Monkeys. Then came the Pet Rock. Then the Tamagotchi. And the Furby. Now comes the newest fad pet set to take the world by storm: genetically-engineered Piranha Sharks!
Nothing bad could possibly come from combining the DNA of sharks and piranhas to create a new form of fashionable fish tank fodder, right?
PiranhaSharks.com is now live so that you too can get in on the crazy by ordering you very own living breathing Piranha Sharks. Even celebs like Jose Canseco are thrilled to the gills with these toothy little bundles of fun. These controversial critters are poised to revolutionize both the toy and pet industry assuming something doesn't go horribly awry, like say the piranha sharks quickly evolving into vicious, swarming maneaters that get loose in the New York City sewer system.
Coincidentally, the newest trailer for Leigh Scott's horror comedy of the same name has also appeared online.

One of the many great things about being a horror fan boy and reviewing movies is finding these great little gems that go in your back pocket to pull out for those moments when you want to make a stellar, but obscure recommendation. Legendary UK film studio Hammer didn't only dabble in films; Hammer also created thirteen one-hour shorts to be shown on television as Hammer House of Horror. These episodes aired on ITV during the fall of 1980.
I watched Witching Time to get a feel for the release as well as the series. It's a funny thing to pop in a DVD of a made-for-tv series and find the episode shows full nudity before the credits even roll, as is what happens in Witching Time. The UK has always been more open about such things than the supposed 'Land of the Free', and this was certainly true in 1980. That's not to say the nudity shown in Witching Time is overtly lascivious - it's fairly restrained, actually - but it is a reminder how lamely conservative our own "oh please, think of the children" television is.

When Jonathan Frid joined the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows in 1967, little did anyone know his portrayal of a tortured vampire Barnabas Collins would be catalyst that would launch the series into stratosphere of pop culture popularity and make the Hamilton, Ontario born actor a legend.
The actor passed away on April 14 at the age of 87 in his home town of natural causes.
Born in 1924, Frid served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He graduated from McMaster University in 1948, and the following year was accepted at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. He moved to the United States in 1954, and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from the Yale School of Drama in 1957. Classically trained, Frid spent thirty years in live theater, starring in the first productions at the Williamstown Theater and stage productions in Canada, England and the United States, though occasionally working in television.

It’s been awhile since there’s been any news regarding Leigh Scott’s Dorothy and the Witches of Oz (formerly just Witches of Oz), but now comes word that the dark fantasy featuring the likes of Lance Henriksen, Jeffrey Combs, Mia Sara, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, and Christopher Lloyd as “The Wizard of Oz” is getting a limited Us theatrical release this February.
Dorothy and the Witches of Oz follows the exploits of the grown Dorothy Gale (Paulie Rojas), now a successful children's book author, as she moves from Kansas to present day New York City. Dorothy quickly learns that her popular books are based on repressed childhood memories, and that the wonders of Oz are very, very real. When the Wicked Witch of the West shows up in Times Square, Dorothy must find the inner courage to stop her.

If you're a sucker for a quality anthology, you're going to want to see this brand new Christmas Teaser for Leigh Scott's upcoming feature, Penny Dreadful Picture Show Volume One. Based solely on this captivating clip I'm confident in saying the flick looks absolutely bad ass. The film features three separate segments that cover three separate decades, the 60's, 70's and 80's. I'm sure fans can already detect a fine dose of nostalgia given the pe…...

With the Halloween season in full swing, we thought we’d bring you a tasty little treat that ends with a bloody trick. Slash-in-the-Box is a horror short that runs about five minutes, and from the title alone you should already surmise what it’s about and how it isn’t going to end well for someone.
Slash-in-the-Box was written and directed by Nick Everhart (666: The Beast, 2012: Doomsday) with director of photography duty by Leigh Scott (Beast of Bray Road, The Witches of Oz) on a shoestring budget of $2,000. Elizabeth Masucci, Tyler Hollinger, and a not-so-innocent jack-in-the-box star.

Actress/model Chanel Ryan tells us that since she made the decision to switch her focus full time to acting, she has been busy with a number of new 'genre' feature film projects.
"I Just finished shooting the comedy/horror film 'Bad Kids Go To Hell' in Texas and Wow was it Hot!," said Ryan. "We basically went straight from filming in Dallas to San Diego Comicon to unveil the teaser, and do a bit of promotion.
"'Bad Kids' started out as a best selling indie comic book series/graphic novel of the same name, written by Barry Bazza Wernick who is also the film's producer. Matthew Spradlin is the director.
"Fans of the series will be happy to know that since both writers were on set everyday, the project is staying true to the comic in production, script & mood...sort of a "Breakfast Club" meets 'The Grudge'.

Chanel Ryan has a lot going on and definitely one to be on the look out for! The model/actress will soon be seen in several upcoming horror projects including Bad Kids Go To Hell (we talk about that) and more. She's every geeks dream girl, smart and as funny as she is pretty and then some, plus she loves Brian Shirley's Crocaloctopus and I like that a lot! Check out my newest crush and latest Versus with actress Chanel Ryan.

Important Note: There may be some films that do not become available on the specified dates. This is merely a report of the most accurate release dates I can find, but is not directly confirmed by Netflix themselves.

Bleeding Cool has posted the trailer for The Witches of Oz. The film (which appears to be a sequel of sorts to the original The Wizard of Oz story) is directed by one Leigh Scott, a veteran filmmaker from Hollywood knock-off masters Asylum. Transmorphers is amongst the number of features he’s made for the company (no prizes for guessing which franchise was being paid “homage” to there) .
Wonder if Oz is any good? It looks well shot and the effects work appears to be more than adequate for this type of low-budget fantasy flick. This has been produced by an independent company called MarVista Entertainment Inc, who seem to have a little more money then Asylum, as the ensemble cast proves. B-movie regulars like Christopher Lloyd, Lance Henrikson and Jeffrey Combs are all present and correct, and it’s also a shrewd move on the company’s behalf to...

Maybe this will help us get the taste of 'Tin Man' out of our mouths. Finally.
Not since 1987's made-for-tv Return to Oz have I been this excited about an Oz film. Let's face it - the original musical 1939 version with Judy Garland reduced the menacing, opium-induced political propaganda originally created by L. Frank Baum to so much MGM glitter and Oscar romance. But Fairuza Balk's first starring role, as Dorothy Gale who returns to Oz to face an evil Nome King, a headless princess, wheeled human punk rockers who chase you through the streets of the broken Emerald City, and talking chickens, was awesome. And since then?
Just more gibberish in musical form and a really bad made-for-tv SyFy Channel Dorothy movie that I think we'd rather all forget.

One of the great features over at the Internet Movie Database is the Bottom 100. Based on ratings viewers of the site give to various films, the worst of the worst films get put on this list. Some of them are on and off in a matter of days. Others stick around for the long haul, showing just how much suckage they truly emit.
It’s time to look at these movies and determine where they stand. Do they deserve to be on the Bottom 100 list? Are they not as bad as everyone says? Will they be off the list any time soon?
Here’s the breakdown for this week’s film:
Title: ‘King of the Lost World’
Release Date: December 13, 2005
Ranking on Bottom 100 (as of 7/15/2009): # 90 (based on 986 votes)
Why it’s Here: Is it any surprise a film from The Asylum would end up on IMDb’s Bottom 100 list?...

This trailer for Scifi channel's Quantum Apocalypse actually premiered a while back but we neglected to post it for some reason. Then I read a funny story about how the film got its name and I thought I'd finally post it.
Basically what happened was our pal Foywonder over at Dread Central was poking fun at writer Leigh Scott who was having trouble getting his story for a film called "Judgement Day" approved. He mentioned that it was probably because the film didn't comply with what must be a Scifi rule that all original films have colons in their titles. He joked that he should have called it "Judgment Day: Quantum Apocalypse" and Scifi would have loved it. Leigh liked the tag so much he presented it. They loved it. Quantum Apocalypse was born.

Welcome to Elliotsville. It’s like your typical American small town, except the residents are kinda robots. Okay, they’re not so much kinda, they’re pretty much robots. So what happens when you take that set-up and add a gang of sexy female bikers (cause if they were fat and ugly, it just wouldn’t be any fun) and some gun-toting redneck types (I know what you’re thinking: what, there are other types of rednecks?) into the mix? Hopefully lots of blood, gunplay, and exploding robots. Check out a trailer for Leigh Scott’s “Chrome Angels” below, which features some nifty gunplay and lots and lots of exploding squibs. Starring Stacey Dash, Paul Le Mat, Frida Show, Eliza Swenson, Kristen Quintrall, Jackey Hall, Dean N. Arevalo, Collin Galyean, Brent Lydic, and Monti Domingue. Written and directed by Leigh Scott. No, Jaws of the Mississippi is not the title of a recently discovered Mark Twain manuscript that pits Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Fin in a life-or-death battle with a Great White shark ("We're gonna need a bigger raft!"). It is, however, the title of a new killer shark movie involving a radioactive Great White prowling the freshwaters of the Mississippi River.
Yes, a radioactive shark, but not of the glowing atomic age monster variety, in case you're expecting something truly outlandish. I'll let the Active Entertainment plot synopsis explain the premise:
"A massive hurricane devastates the Gulf of Mexico, with it a Us government’s top-secret anti-bioterrorism facility. When one of its highly radioactive chemicals spills into the ocean, it triggers mutations in a great white shark, enabling its adaptation to survive in freshwater. I think Leigh Scott wants to be Roger Corman (the good one that did Poe, not the one that produced Carnosaur). With his new spin on The Dunwich Horror, he may well be on his way to small budget film greatness. Scott.s Dunwich Horror isn.t without a few bumps in the night, but I did find it an enjoyable ride. It is also great to see the return to Dunwich for Dean Stockwell. Yog-Sothoth be praised! The Whateley.s have always been an odd bunch. Zecheria (M. Written by Leigh Scott and directed by Griff Furst, Wolvesbayne is simply a rocking film that is fun to watch and leaves you wanting more. The movie combines elements of Underworld, Scott.s own Dracula.s Curse, and Wanted. The mix gives you an action horror film that goes for the throat from the start and doesn.t let up until the credits roll. Wolvesbayne stars Jeremy London, Christy Carlson Romano, Yancy Butler, Mark Dacascos, Rhett Giles, Kristen Quintrall, and Justin Jones. The film is pretty much a .by the numbers. thriller that follows Russel Bayne (London) . who is bitten by a werewolf and quickly finds himself in the middle of a supernatural war between vampires, werewolves, and human hunters.

Not to be confused with the 1970 Dean Stockwell horror movie of the same name, "The Dunwich Horror" of 2009 has been directed by Leigh Scott and is based on the same H.P. Lovecraft story. This one does feature Dean Stockwell (quite a bit older but still ready to rumble) and the great Jeffrey Combs of "Re-Animator" fame. It doesn't sound too extreme. It's Rated R for "brief nudity and a violent image." . .

I almost ignored this low budget Bitch Slap meets The Stepford Wives scifi thriller when it was scooped to us by tipster Avery, but after watching the film's high octane trailer I couldn't resist sharing the fun this fine Monday morning.
