Last year’s R.L. Stine-based Disney+ series “Goosebumps” will return for Season 2, we’ve learned this weekend, but the cast and setting will be switched up this time around.
Variety reports, “The announcement was made during the Disney Branded Television presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. As part of the announcement, it was also revealed that the second season would be eight episodes compared to the 10-episode first season, and that the show is going the anthology route. Thus, Season 2 will feature an entirely new cast and setting based on R.L. Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.”
“Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L.

What’s most shocking about the fact that it’s been 35 years since Mystery Science Theater 3000 began its run on Ktma in Minneapolis-St. Paul is the fact that it’s been only 35 years. Sporting a premise that’s gained added resonance since Covid redefined what it’s like to watch movies in isolation, the series has existed long enough—and in enough iterations—as to feel almost impervious to time, endlessly redefining itself as technology and media consumption mutate and grow, and, more frequently, as circumstances necessitate.
While the show’s hook—a human and their robots joke their way through bad movies—suggests a cynical outlook, its overriding imagination leaves room enough to enjoy both the films being watched and the jokes made at their expense. The classics that MST3K has yielded far exceed the limitations of this list’s format—to say nothing of the multitude of grace notes contained within,...

Justin Long has had an excellent variety of roles throughout his career.
He's been in horrors, comedies, and everything in between.
The actor plays Nathan Bratt on the Disney+/Hulu reboot of Goosebumps.
In the first trailer, Nathan finds himself possessed by a spirit that may or may not be tied to the overarching mystery of the new series.
We love a good mystery!

The brand new “Goosebumps” television series from Disney+ and Hulu will premiere on October 13, and now the show’s full official trailer has arrived this afternoon.
The two-minute trailer features callbacks to several classic Goosebumps tales, including “Welcome to Dead House,” “Say Cheese and Die!” and “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” and it also features an appearance from the iconic Slappy doll. Like the two live action movies we got in recent years, however, it looks like the series will not be directly adapting any of the books.
Watch the “Goosebumps” official trailer below!
Disney previews in the official press details, “The new series draws on elements from five of the most popular middle grade books including Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms! and Night of the Living Dummy.”

Disney has unveiled a trailer for Goosebumps, its spin on the beloved series of scary novels for kids by R.L. Stine.
The trailer offers a few jump scares and some frightful moments, along with Travis Scott’s song “Goosebumps” as a soundtrack, as it introduces five high schoolers (played by Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig and Will Price) who “embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past,” per the show’s logline.
The series also stars Justin Long — who becomes possessed by a dark entity around the 40-second mark of the trailer — and Rachael Harris. Goosebumps will stream on Disney+ and Hulu starting, appropriately enough, on Friday, Oct. 13, with five episodes. The first two will also air on Disney’s cable channel Freeform as...

Amber Heard will not face further charges related to bringing her Yorkshire terriers into Australia in 2015.
The case stemmed from an incident where the actress brought her dogs, Pistol and Boo, to the Gold Coast, where her then-husband Johnny Depp was filming the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. When she arrived, Heard did not declare she was bringing her dogs in, which went against Australia’s quarantine regulations. In 2016, Heard was charged with two counts of illegally importing her dogs into the country and one count of producing a false document.

Access to the latest data remains a significant challenge in climate science where environmental conditions change almost daily. And, despite growing amounts of data — estimates from NASA suggest that by 2024, scientists will have 250,000 terabytes of data from new missions — scientists and researchers still face obstacles in analyzing these large datasets. As part of a Space Act Agreement with NASA, Ibm set out earlier this year to build an AI foundation model for geospatial data.

When Jim Mallon's "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie" was released in theaters back in 1996, many noted that it had a shorter running time than a single episode of the show on which it was based. "MST3K" ran for two hours, or 92 minutes with the commercials removed. The movie, in contrast, was an incredibly brief 77 minutes. This was in spite of an arch premise that needed to be explained to the audience, and multiple "host" sequences.
As it so happens, the original cut was much longer.
For the uninitiated: "MST3K" was a two-hour program that debuted on public access TV in Minnesota in 1988, and aired on Comedy Central and then the Sci-Fi Channel from 1989 to 1999. It has since been revived a few times and runs to this day on its own streaming service, the Gizmoplex. "MST3K" was typically scheduled late at night, recreating the experience of watching randomly programmed B-movies on after-hours network TV,...

The longevity of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" has been fascinating to behold. Beginning on Minnesota public access television in 1988, Joel Hodgson's watch-bad-movies-with-sarcastic-buddies cult TV series has deeply entrenched itself into the collected Jungian lore of every Gen-Xer worth their weight in flannel. For much of its life, "MST3K" lived either on Ktma in Minneapolis or, when it became more successful, running at midnight on Comedy Central.
Throughout, the show famously included the phrase "Keep circulating the tapes" in its credits. That was an acknowledgement from the show's producers that world-of-mouth and shared VHS recordings of "MST3K" were responsible for its modest cultural foothold. Fans would call friends, mail them cassettes, and implore that the cult grow. In 2008, when "MST3K" was finally made widely available through DVD box sets, Dr. Forrester/Crow T. Robot actor Trace Beaulieu said in an Av Club interview to "Keep circulating some of the tapes.

"Mystery Science Theater 3000" officially ended its run in 1999, but never really went away.
The "watching bad movies with several funny friends" premise was simply too good to leave behind, and every cast member on the show participated in "MST3K"-like projects for years thereafter. The show's creator, Joel Hodgson, teamed up with Mary Jo Pehl, Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, and J. Sometimes a long-running TV show finds itself linked to a certain holiday. Community had Christmas. The Simpsons has Halloween. Brooklyn 99 had Halloween, then changed it to Cinco de Mayo for scheduling reasons. Saturday Night Live has…Election Day, I guess? I probably should have thought this through a bit more.
While Mystery Science Theater 3000 has done a handful of Christmas-themed episodes, the series has a much deeper relationship with Thanksgiving. Turkey Day is essentially its legacy. It started on Thanksgiving and it always comes back to that one Thursday in late November, whether the show is on the air or not.
Back in 1988, Joel Hodgson created a new show idea inspired by a random image from the liner notes of an Elton John album, wherein a couple of silhouettes sit in front of a movie screen. He and some robot puppets would watch bad movies and crack jokes. While the...

Kate James, Amber Heard’s former personal assistant, alleged that Heard had appropriated her story of being a “sexual violence survivor,” giving evidence at London’s Royal Courts of Justice on the seventh day of Johnny Depp’s libel trial against the publisher of The Sun newspaper.
Depp is suing News Group Newspapers and journalist Dan Wootton for an article on The Sun website that described him as a “wife beater.” Depp denies that he was violent toward Heard, to whom he was married from 2015 to 2017.
James, who was Heard’s personal assistant between 2012 and 2015, was giving her evidence by video link from Los Angeles.
Defense attorney Sasha Wass asked if James had been “influenced by Mr. Depp and his associates who have encouraged you to give this vicious evidence against her [Heard].”
“Absolutely not,” James said.

She claimed Heard, 34, had hired the woman to work as a set assistant. James said in her written statement: “Savannah, a British citizen, had been held in immigration and questioned about the frequency that she had been coming and going from the USA.

The year was 1918. As World War I was ending, the Spanish Flu began ravaging the world. Within a year, it killed 675,000 Americans and 50 million worldwide — 10 million more than those who perished in the war.
There are several parallels between the response to the Spanish Flu and Covid-19 in the U.S. In both cases, states of emergency were declared; all public places, including movie theaters and schools, were closed for months; and wearing face masks in public was recommended.

After an audio clip exposed Amber Heard for physically abusing her ex-husband Johnny Depp, the actress has once again reiterated that she was the victim in their relationship.
After losing much of his fortune in the controversial court battle with his former wife, Depp recently filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against the Aquaman 2 star to set things straight. As a result, the actor’s attorneys presented several pieces of evidence that exposed Heard for physically and emotionally harassing her husband. Consequently, Heard came under a lot of fire for her hypocritical stance in this public feud and legions of fans asked for justice by kickstarting an online petition for WB to remove her from the sequel to Aquaman.
It would appear, though, that the London Fields actress isn’t going down without a fight. In a recent declaration to dismiss the defamation lawsuit, Heard has claimed that she only got...

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp‘s domestic violence case ended up in the latter’s favor a while ago when an audio clip exposed her physically violent behavior towards the Fantastic Beasts star, and now, the actor has referenced another incriminating instance in his defamation lawsuit.
Depp, who seemingly lost his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise because of these domestic violence allegations, has recently submitted an official declaration to the federal court of Fairfax County, Virginia, detailing one instance in their relationship when the Aquaman actress physically and emotionally abused him for being late for her birthday party, even though he had informed Heard that he wasn’t going to make it on time because of an important meeting.
The court document reads:
“Among other violent acts, Ms. Heard punched me repeatedly in the face as I lay in bed reading after the party, leaving me with...

In 1988, an oddball comedy experiment hit a certain Uhf station on Thanksgiving and as it grew, so did the MST3K connection to the holiday.
Sometimes a long-running TV show finds itself linked to a certain holiday. Community had Christmas. The Simpsons has Halloween. Brooklyn 99 had Halloween, then changed it to Cinco de Mayo for scheduling reasons. Saturday Night Live has...Election Day, I guess? I probably should have thought this through a bit more.
While Mystery Science Theater 3000 has done a handful of Christmas-themed episodes, the series has a much deeper releationship with Thanksgiving. Turkey Day is essentially its legacy. It started on Thanksgiving and it always comes back to that one Thursday in late November, whether the show is on the air or not.
Back in 1988, Joel Hodgson created a new show idea inspired by a random image from the liner notes of an Elton John album,...
