Death Valley: "Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, announced today that it will release the original film Death Valley in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, December 9.
Written and directed by Matthew Ninaber (Psycho Goreman), who also appears as the frightening monster in the film, the adrenaline-fueled action horror stars his brother Jeremy Ninaber (Escape the Dark), Ethan Mitchell (Escape the Dark) and Kristen Kaster (If I should Die).
When a secret experiment goes horribly wrong, bioengineer Dr. Chloe (Kaster) becomes trapped inside a secret underground facility. With only 24 hours before a fatal decontamination protocol destroys the entire lab, Chloe deploys an emergency distress signal before a terrifying creature (Matthew Ninaber) of unknown origin can consume what’s left of her.

Available today on VOD & digital is Faking a Murderer from director / co-writer Stuart Stone and co-writer Adam Rodness! Here's an exclusive clip just for Daily Dead viewers:
"Faking a Murderer follows two filmmakers on their noble yet perhaps misguided quest to track down a seedy-looking stranger they’ve discovered online who — in a disturbing video — seemingly confesses to a murder. Or at least that’s what they think. Seeing the popularity of true crime shows, they decide to try and turn this discovery into their own killer hit. With the support (both moral and financial) of a distributor, Stuart Stone and Adam Rodness set off on their journey to try and track down this elusive creep. When they bring the video to law enforcement, they’re told — repeatedly — that it’s really not much to go on, and they’re putting a lot of time and energy into what essentially is a fool’s errand.

Toronto -- NBC Universal has joined with Canwest Global Communications Corp. to co-produce the Canadian medical procedural "Combat Hospital" from indie producer Sienna Films for Global Television.
The drama about a military field hospital in Afghanistan manned by doctors and nurses from around the world and serving injured coalition troops and Afghan civilians is part of an expanding homegrown scripted slate from Canwest Global that includes an eight-episode order for "Single White Spenny" from Breakthrough Films & Television for its Showcase cable channel.

Banff, Alberta -- Nathan Mayfield, founder of Australian cross-platform producer Hoodlum, recently took a phone call from a North American broadcaster asking him to locate and recapture lost TV audiences online.
"He said, 'Our TV show just went to air, we've lost half the audience, and I can't find them elsewhere in the ratings,' " he recalls.
Mayfield, who's made a name wooing online audiences for TV series like ITV's "Emmerdale," BBC's "Spooks" and ABC's "Lost" back to the living room couch, is this week at the Banff World Television Festival to tell delegates how he solves the case of lost TV audiences.
"It's all about driving audiences back to TV, and not ignoring them when they go online," Mayfield said.

TORONTO -- Canadian TV producers and distributors are looking to leap onto the burgeoning new media market with a host of Interactive, multiplatform projects in their luggage as they head to Cannes for the Oct. 9-13 MIPCOM market. "Television is the main content, but we're also developing multiplatform content with it: Mobisodes, backstories for the Web, online gaming. You have to be thinking in that way," Ira Levy, executive producer and founding partner at Breakthrough Films & Television, said Thursday. Breakthrough, he noted, has developed multiplatform content that includes space-based science facts, blooper reels, animated interviews and music videos for its Atomic Betty cartoon series. The company also is developing with a Welsh partner The Moose, a collection of short animated comedies aimed primarily at the online and mobile markets.

TORONTO -- While Canadian broadcasters are picking up new U.S. network series this week at the Los Angeles Screenings, Canadian independent producers are doing bumper business selling homegrown TV shows to American channels. "We're talking about something viable and growing, with a real appreciation of the type of programming we have," said Ira Levy, a co-founder and producer with Breakthrough Films & Television. In April, Toronto-based Breakthrough Films sold the first two seasons of its gay-themed drama "Paradise Falls" to Here! and placed the animated series "Atomic Betty" on the Cartoon Network. The production company also has the reality comedy series "Kenny vs. Spenny" on the Game Show Network.
