Alien queen Morena Baccarin comes down to Earth in V.
Warner Home Video will release the science-fiction TV series V: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 18, for the list prices of $49.99 and $39.98, respectively.
Though V was never a ratings blockbuster for ABC, it was not without its fans, who are undoubtedly mourning the fact that it was cancelled several weeks after the season two finale was aired.
A re-imagining of the 1980s TV series that’s now considered a cult favorite, the sci-fi thriller V tells the story of an alien race — “the visitors” or “V’s,” for short — that drops in on Earth to hang out with the Terrans. Though the cosmic travelers claim to come in peace (and they provide lots of advanced technology to prove it!), there are lots of humans who simply don’t trust the visitors. So, they form a rebellion...

Intrepid Ologists, we had the week off from carnivorous alien honey trap hijinks last week, but tonight we're back with a bang: Anna tries to win the support of the Catholic Church in a bid to hunt down and eliminate the human soul, while Jack Landry infiltrates Eli Cohn's radical arm of the Fifth Column to stop its widespread attacks on innocent lives. Chad Decker receives a mysterious trinket and a message to keep up the fight, while Ryan seems to be sinking more fully into the Visitor queen's grasp. Oh, and also Tyler's just about had it with anti-v rhetoric, and Erica's new partner isn't all he seems. Tons to read about--check out our summary below for all the details. Late last year we heard that Barry Levinson (Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man) was going into production on a low-budget 'eco-horror' film that was originally referred to as Isopod. The basic story for what became called The Bay was said to feature “the aftermath of a viral outbreak on the Eastern Seaboard" and it sounded as if the film would be built from a collection of character-filmed footage, emergency reports and other sources. (The Paranormal Activity team of Oren Peli, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones are producing, contributing to the expectation for something pretty low-fi.) Now there's a new synopsis for the film, which makes things a little bit more clear. Styd [1] has this synopsis: The quaint seaside town of Chesapeake Bay thrives on water it is the lifeblood of the community. When two biological researchers from France find a staggering level of toxicity in the water, they attempt to alert the mayor,...

“We are of peace, always.” This is the seemingly positive motto uttered by the alien race known as the V's or “Visitors” that come to Earth in this sci-fi thriller, hastily revamped from the camp eighties serial in the wake of Battlestar Galactica's phenomenal success. In the first season of this show, we are introduced to a plethora of characters and come to learn how each of their lives is affected by the arrival of these otherworldly creatures.

A week ago, I had the opportunity to interview Joel Gretsch who plays Father Jack Landry on ABC's 'V.' Father Jack has been an integral part of the Resistance since the beginning. What started out as troubled faith, ended up putting this priest in the middle of the action. He has struggled with aliens, his faith, and a forbidden temptation. Here Joel Gretsch talks about Father Landry's struggles and what it's like to work on 'V.' Watch 'V' on ABC on Tuesday at 10 Est, after Lost.
When will we see the inevitable Father Jack and Erica hook-up?
You’d be surprised how many times I get that question. Gosh, the story kind of lends to a very intimate relationship, being that who we can trust is the background of everything. The only one Jack can trust is Erica. Being that we start from the beginning on a roof...

Actor Joel Gretsch has been making the rounds in the televised science fiction world since Steven Spielberg’s Taken miniseries back in 2002. Since then, we’ve gotten Joel in The 4400, Journeyman and the film Push. Gretsch can now be seen as Father Jack Landry on ABC’s V. We recently got to talk to Joel about his role on the show, his ties to the world of sci-fi, and even got a response to a question that fanboys and girls have been asking for years.
The Flickcast: Starting off, what can you tell me about the things coming up on V?
Joel Gretsch: Wow, what a question. [laughs]. Lots of things. It’s really ramping up. Scott Rosenbaum, the showrunner, is writing a lot of fast, neck-breaking reveals, and you’re going to learn a lot of things of things about where each character comes from, why they are who they are.

When we last saw Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) on "V," he'd just shown off his right hook decking an enemy alien, only to wind up with a knife in his gut thanks to the same alien, who was nursing both a sore jaw and a grudge.
On Tuesday, March 30, the sci-fi drama returns after a long hiatus (four episodes aired last November) continuing the re-imagined tale of outwardly benevolent and technologically generous alien "Visitors" who are concealing a possibly deadly agenda. They've been infiltrating human society for years, but there are those in their number who have aligned themselves with the growing human resistance.
Since the aliens appeared, Father Jack has been struggling to reconcile the existence of aliens with his Roman Catholic faith and to help others do the same -- all while teaming up with FBI Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) to battle the invaders.

In 2009, we tried something new here on MTV Movies Blog. There's an abundance of television programming these days built around season-long and multi-season story arcs. The small-screen viewing experience is different of course -- no event blockbusters, 3-D (well... once, on "Chuck," and it was meh) or anything like that -- but a well-told tale is a hard thing to ignore. That's why we started covering a few shows with recaps, interviews and the like.
Well the TV is looking pretty damn good in 2010, so we'll be back with even more coverage. To get ready, ace contributor Josh Wigler and I sat down to consider a few of the shows we'll be watching in the coming months, commenting on what we see in store for them...

The big television news for the week preceding, was, of course, Fox's decision to cancel Dollhouse, a move not necessarily unexpected, but still lamented by fans of the show. Sadly, the writing had been on the wall from the beginning of the season—without a significant uptick in viewership, the series' life-expectancy would be short. It didn't happen...and it was. Dollhouse will return Dec. 4, with its series finale set for Jan. 22.
Fox's other genre series, Fringe, rebounded a bit to its pre-World Series numbers with a 3.7 rating/6 share. That equates to a 19 percent jump from the previous week, but still trails behind The CW, where the network's flagship skein, Smallville, finally regained some ground to tie its former Thursday night stablemate, Supernatural.
Over at ABC, V led all genre shows for the second week of sweeps, despite a more than 25 percent drop from its series premiere, earning a 6.6 rating/10 share,...

Written By: Scott Peters & Sam Egan
Synopsis: FBI Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) must decide whether or not to hide their knowledge of the Visitors' true intentions — a particularly difficult decision for Erica given the fact that she had to kill former partner Dale (Alan Tudyk), who was secretly a Visitor. Journalist Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) attempts to control the public perception of Visitor spokesperson Anna (Morena Baccarin), while secret Visitor Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut) tries to find a way to repair his damaged flesh.

Episode Title: "Pilot"
Written By: Scott Peters (teleplay) & Kenneth Johnson (story)
Synopsis: Men, women and children all around the world are shocked and awed by the sudden arrival of the Visitors, an alien race that appears throughout Earth by way of massive hovercrafts. It was a morning like any other in New York this morning.
FBI Agent Erica Evans woke up to her alarm only to find that her 17-year-old son Tyler Evans had snuck out of the house with his friend Brandon to go to a party in SoHo.
Father Jack Landry opened up the church doors to find regular, Roy, waiting at the top of the steps in his wheelchair. (Okay, just going by the commercials, I bet five bucks that Roy is one of the people the Visitors heal.)
Ryan Nichols made a special early-morning stop at a jeweler's to pick up an engagement ring for his almost- fiancee, psychologist Valerie Holt. The jeweler threw in some proposal advice as a freebie – going down on one knee to propose is a classic.
Reporter Chad Decker has his rebroadcast of the country's economic shambles playing as he takes his shower.
They have a little time.

V, the remake of the 1980s-era miniseries about aliens coming to Earth, was the focus of a panel at Comic-Con on Saturday.
And while most of the one-hour event was taken up with a screening of the pilot episode, the most significant moment of the panel occurred when an audience member was censored from asking a relevant and thought-provoking question about race.
The new series, which has been booked by ABC as a mid-season replacement, stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) as FBI agent and single mother Erica Evans. Also starring in the series are Morris Chestnut (The Cave) as businessman Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch (The 4400) as Catholic priest Jack Landry, Scott Wolf (Everwood) as news anchor Chad Decker and Morena Baccarin (Firefly) as Anna, head of the alien visitors that call themselves the V.

ABC has released a full length trailer for the Vancouver-shot V, a re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race who call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something far more malevolent.
V is part of the network's 2009-2010 primetime schedule. ABC's Stephen McPherson stated that V will be premiering with an order of 13 episodes at midseason. "We want to craft a whole series," McPherson said when unveiling ABC's 2009-2010 schedule. "At this point we believe the show will be four parts, with each consisting of anywhere from 13 to 22 episodes," McPherson says. "It will have beginning, middle and end."
