While virtual production has become a mainstay of “Fantastic Beasts,” the introduction of VR to the planning and designing of digital set builds was crucial to the series’ latest chapter — particularly when shooting was postponed by Covid-19 lockdown. This was due to the new pre-production services toolkit of London-based VFX studio Framestore, which handled “The Secrets of Dumbledore” and the two “Harry Potter” spin-offs that preceded.
Launched early in 2020, Framestore Pre-production Services (Fps) delivered 90 minutes of postvis for David Yates’ director’s cut, as well as using virtual production tools to help plan and visualize some of the film’s key set pieces, including the chaotic Berlin political rally, and the final battle in Bhutan between Dumbledore (Jude Law) and dark wizard Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen).

In the original Star Wars trilogy, the Millennium Falcon was referred to as fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy by Lando Calrissian, "a bucket of bolts" by Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker at first glance called it "a piece of junk." Solo: A Star Wars Story production designer Neil Lamont was tasked in making a pimped out shinier version of the Falcon for Lando Calrissian, the smooth-talking smuggler played by Donald Glover. CineMovie chatted with the Solo: A Star Wars Story production designer who reveals they used the same ship build from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Han Solo may have passed away in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but some part of this character still lives on so long as the Millennium Falcon’s still flying. Of course, another way of keeping the loud-mouthed smuggler in the franchise is through prequel spinoffs like Solo: A Star Wars Story, which sees the young Han piloting his trademark ship for the very first time.
The inclusion of the Falcon in the Ron Howard-helmed flick seemed pretty inevitable, seeing how Solo and his ship have become so inherently intertwined. But what’s more surprising is that the spacecraft may have had a presence of sorts in Han’s life before the two of them had even technically crossed paths.

There's no doubt that Lucasfilm is developing several Star Wars film projects at the moment that have yet to be officially announced. A couple of months ago it was reported that they were developing at least nine Star Wars movies.
Those movies definitely include Rian Johnson's trilogy, as well at the film being developed by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Then there's obviously Episode IX, but anything beyond those, including the Boba Fett and the Obi-Wan Kenobi films, has yet to be seen.
There were also reports of a spin-off film set on the planet Tatooine that revolved around Mos Eisley, the spaceport Luke Skywalker goes into in the original film. It turns out that film was actually in development and it was confirmed by production designer Neil Lamont, who told CinemaBlend:
"We were just starting our work on another Star Wars spin-off and yeah.

Turns out Lucasfilm had been planning a return trip to Tatooine, after all.
As Star Wars production designer Neil Lamont tells Cinema Blend, the studio had mapped out plans for a potential standalone movie revolving around Tatooine and its infamous Mos Eisley spaceport – the very same spaceport in which Luke Skywalker and Han Solo crossed paths for the very first time.
News of a potential Mos Eisley movie first emerged two months ago, when it was announced that, in light of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm had halted production on all standalone pics, including Kenobi: A Star Wars Story (tentative title) and the nascent Boba Fett movie in the works from James Mangold.
Neither project has shown any signs of life in quite some time, leading many to conclude that they’ve been temporarily shelved until Lucasfilm gets its ducks in a row (and Episode IX into theaters).

The adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee is going before cameras this month when principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20th at Pinewood Studios, London.
The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directors co-piloting the movie, with a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said.

The first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has hit. Gareth Edwards’ spinoff tale of a group of rebels working to steal plans for the Death Star isn’t related director to the new trilogy that began with The Force Awakens last year, but should still make for a solid adventure by the looks of it.
We wanted to get the trailer up right away, so take it all in and save the date!
The trailer looks fantastic, seeing the assembly of the Death Star, familiar uniforms and locations from A New Hope, and friggin At-at’s on a beach around palm trees. I have to say I am pretty excited about this one. Have some thoughts of your own? Share them on our Facebook page.

Gary Oldman, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy As expected, Steve McQueen's Shame, Tomas Alfredson's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Lynne Ramsay's We Need to Talk About Kevin are three of the top contenders for the Raindance Institute's 2011 British Independent Film Awards (Bifa), the British version of the United States' Spirit Awards (West Coast) and Gotham Awards (East Coast) — apart from the fact that British films are almost invariably modestly budget and independently made. [Full list of 2011 British Independent Film Awards nominations.] With seven nods each — including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor — Shame, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and actor-turned-filmmaker Paddy Considine's Tyrannosaur topped the list of nominees. We Need to Talk About Kevin and Ben Wheatley's Kill List each received six nods; Richard Ayoade's Submarine got five. Both Ramsay and Wheatley are also up for Best Director; Asif Kapadia's documentary Senna replaced Kill List on the list of Best British Independent Film nominees.
