Viewers tuning in for Ireland’s popular The Late Late Show on Friday night saw the country’s rap trio Kneecap performing and sitting down in conversation, wearing pro-Palestine badges and clothing.
Saturday Irish broadcaster RTÉ released a statement to say that, prior to their appearance, the band had agreed through their management not to wear the emblems – but then proceeded to wear them live on air.
The Journal reports that the show’s producers had earlier told them that their performance would have to be cancelled if they decided to wear the badges, and they’d agreed not to.
RTÉ added in the statement released to The Journal: “However, during the live performance and the subsequent interview, the band chose not to comply with that agreement. They put badges on and revealed that one band member was wearing a Palestinian football jersey.”

Kielty plays a standup with a troubled past, but it’s Seána Kerslake who is the driving force here, via her terrific performance as a prickly cabby
You’ve got to admire comedian Patrick Kielty for putting his neck on the line in his first dramatic role. In Prasanna Puwanarajah’s directorial debut, Kielty plays Shane, a budding standup who can painstakingly recount favourite scenes from Only Fools and Horses but has no discernible comic skill of his own. Far from being a deranged Rupert Pupkin figure, Shane harbours a troubled past, which makes him well placed for some odd-couple bonding with Eileen (Seána Kerslake), an acerbic young cabby who ferries him each week from his self-imposed exile in the coastal village of Ballywalter to his comedy course in Belfast. Why can’t he take himself? Ah, that would be the driving ban. Tragic backstory alert!

Most true crime dramas retell stories from long enough ago that many viewers weren’t alive to hear about them the first time around, from David Tennant’s portrayal of 1980s serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Des to The Serpent, the BBC drama about 1970s murderer Charles Sobhraj. But ITV’s latest example, The Hunt for Raoul Moat, depicts a violent crime so recent that we don’t just remember hearing about it, we remember tweeting about it.
In 2010, Raoul Moat shot three people in Northumberland: his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Stobbart, was seriously injured, her partner Chris Brown died, and police officer David Rathband was blinded and later took his own life. A six-day manhunt gripped the nation, culminating in a police stand-off at a riverbank, where Moat shot himself. Dramatising such a recent tragedy has attracted criticism – including from the families of Stobbart and Rathband – and led many to wonder:...

It can be hard at times to separate Rupert Grint from his "Harry Potter" roots. Even now, over a decade after the last film in the franchise was released, Grint's name is still synonymous with Ron Weasley, the clumsy boy wizard with a heart of gold. But Grint's acting career definitely has roots outside of Hogwarts. Over the years, he's appeared in various other films including Jeremy Brock's "Driving Lessons," Jonathan Lynn's "Wild Target," and 2009's "Cherrybomb" directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn.
"Cherrybomb" is a British drama about two teenagers who both fall for the same girl. In increasingly more serious attempts at getting her attention, they eventually find themselves in over their heads and headed for disaster. Grint plays one of the teens, Malachy McKinney, an employee at a local movie theater. In the film, Malachy is the exact opposite of Ron Weasley, eager...

BBC content director Charlotte Moore has warned that unless diversity is prioritized in the UK TV industry, the sector will not survive.
Speaking today at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Moore unveiled new programs including an investigation into the impact of race on coronavirus by actor David Harewood and a spin off of World On Fire writer Peter Bowker’s hit series The A Word written by disabled writers. These shows will be among those to spearhead BBC1’s line-up next season.
Moore also highlighted Mangrove, the first film in Steve Macqueen’s series Small Axe, which will air this autumn.
She said globally diversity was now recognized as a key issue for the industry, explaining: “The commitment is there because I think not only creatively is it the best thing to do but business-wise, the whole business will benefit from this because that’s what the audience wants to watch.

The 44-year-old comedian-turned-presenter married the 'So You Think You Can Dance' host in 2012 despite meeting 10 years earlier but he's now insisted they always had chemistry. He said: ''There was always a little bit of a spark between us but either she was with someone or I was with someone and by the time we were both single she was in America. It was always one of those things that never worked out. ''Women tend to be in charge and we men just have to get on the pitch,...

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Jack Dee said: "I'm most looking forward to expressing myself through the medium of dance and music, and seeing the audience in a state of absolute astonishment at what we do."

Sebastian Coe beat John Bishop in their rhythmic gymnastics challenge for Sport Relief tonight (March 21).
The pair went head-to-head in the 'Clash of the Titans' task throughout this evening's live charity telethon. They each captained two teams and performed routines in front of an audience at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Team Coe won in women's pursuit cycling and rhythmic gymnastics, and Team Bishop were victorious at men's elimination race and synchronised swimming.
The teams went into the final event, swimming relay, with just one point separating them and Team Coe trailing behind. But it was Coe's group who earned the gold.
Coe said: "We've done this for an extraordinary effort tonight and I hope there are millions of young people who will benefit from everything that has been achieved. I think it was all down to my ribbons."

"So You Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley adores fashion, haunts flea markets and vintage stores and has been planning a Great Gatsby moment for this season.
"I love fashion," she says. "I love having fun with it. People can either love it or hate it, but they talk about it. Sometimes I am right and sometimes I am oh so wrong."
Drinking a glass of champagne at a Rockefeller Center restaurant, Deeley looks terrific in just a bit of day makeup, a flowing print tan blouse and skinny jeans.
She talks about her fashion choices for her fall wedding to Patrick Kielty, and how she kept the ceremony very low key.
"We didn't want any intrusion," Deeley says. "It was hush-hush. There were only 60 people. It was a reception at the Getty Villa, just outside of Rome. We just had a gigantic feast with lots of singing and dancing and craziness.

Aw, Cat. Why so coy? Of course, the newlyweds didn't exactly rush to confirm their nuptials after they swapped I-do's, so perhaps this couple is just taking every precaution to keep their private lives private.
