Late last year we heard that Barry Levinson (Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man) was going into production on a low-budget 'eco-horror' film that was originally referred to as Isopod. The basic story for what became called The Bay was said to feature “the aftermath of a viral outbreak on the Eastern Seaboard" and it sounded as if the film would be built from a collection of character-filmed footage, emergency reports and other sources. (The Paranormal Activity team of Oren Peli, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones are producing, contributing to the expectation for something pretty low-fi.) Now there's a new synopsis for the film, which makes things a little bit more clear. Styd [1] has this synopsis: The quaint seaside town of Chesapeake Bay thrives on water it is the lifeblood of the community. When two biological researchers from France find a staggering level of toxicity in the water, they attempt to alert the mayor,...

Thomas Haden Church, Martin Landau and Ezra Miller have joined the cast of Sam Levinson's directing debut "The Reasonable Bunch" reports Variety.
Previously titled "Devil in My Shoes", the story centers on two reckless siblings (Miller, Kate Bosworth) who are dragged to a disastrous family wedding by their mother (Ellen Barkin). Landau and Ellen Burstyn play grandparents. Demi Moore also stars.
Sam, the 25-year-old son of filmmaking veteran Barry Levinson, begins shooting the film next week in Michigan.
Meanwhile Shock Til You Drop has come upon story details of his father Barry's upcoming pandemic thriller "The Bay" (formerly known as "Isopod").
The plot involves a viral outbreak on the U.S. east coast and mostly focuses on a small town in Maryland. Shooting will be done "Cloverfield" style with a pseudo-documentary, portable camera feel.
Filming is already underway in Georgetown, South Carolina. Oren Peli, Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones will produce.

A couple weeks back, there was some really early word that Barry Levinson would be making a film with sci-fi overtones. Called Isopod, the movie was reportedly a thriller that would shoot in the Carolinas. Now there's a lot more detail, starting off with a title change: Isopod is now called The Bay. Screen Daily says that The Bay features "the aftermath of a viral outbreak on the Eastern Seaboard. The story is told via a series of recordings on camera phones, 911 calls and other scraps of video as the town of Claridge, Maryland, is engulfed by chaos." What's more, the Paranormal Activity team of Oren Peli, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones are producing alongside Jason Blum. That's an interesting detail, especially when taken together with the revelation that the film will be built in part from lo-fi pieces of footage and civilian reports. All that leads me to...

Anyone familiar with the hideous undersea creatures called Isopods should be aware of one thing ... no good can come of their existence. True, I don't know a single actual thing about them but I hate bugs. I hate things that look like bugs, and these things are giant sea bugs. That's good enough for me to loathe them. So please, let me live my life quietly without knowing the true purpose of these monsters.
Screen Daily reports that long-time writer/director/producer Barry Levinson has secretly begun shooting a new zombie eco-thriller in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Barry Levinson, a big Hollywood name, was reportedly shooting an indie scifi flick called Isopod which nobody knew anything about, and now, some confusing news has come out. A tweet from Production Weekly states that that his "zombie eco-thriller has been retitled The Bay" then has a link back to their tweet on Isopod, so according to this info, we now have details courtesy of Screen Daily which mentions nothing about the renaming but does say that Oren Peli will be producing along with Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanagh Jones.
The Bay centres on the aftermath of a viral outbreak on the Eastern Seaboard. The story is told via a series of recordings on camera phones, 911 calls and other scraps of video as the town of Claridge, Maryland, is engulfed by chaos.
