Sophie Turner, a.k.a. the Queen in the North, is back in the cold in Quibi’s first teaser for its upcoming thriller “Survive” — only this time the “Game of Thrones” alum isn’t fighting White Walkers to stay alive, but the frigid conditions she’s found herself in after a plane crash.
In the 52-second clip, which you can view above, Turner’s character Jane is flying home after a stint in a treatment center where she appears to have been recovering from something (note the group-therapy session and pill bottles) but we don’t know what, and we don’t have time to find out, seeing as that aircraft doesn’t make it to its final destination.
Now Jane and Paul (Corey Hawkins), the only two passengers to live through the crash, are “totally screwed” and need to find a way to live through the horrifying situation they’ve found themselves in.

The film industry may be shifting from celluloid to digital, but film still has one very important advocate in the form of The Dark Knight Trilogy director Christopher Nolan.
For Nolan's latest film Interstellar, a Matthew McConaughey-led space epic, more than an hour of the film's running time is taken up with jaw-dropping footage shot using IMAX 70mm film.
The high-resolution format stock has 15 perforations across per frame against 5 high for 35mm, resulting in a horizontal resolution that tops even the most sophisticated HDTVs.
Paul Franklin, the Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor who's worked on five Nolan movies, revealed that Interstellar used all four IMAX cameras in existence. The fifth was destroyed during the making of The Dark Knight.
"There's nothing else like [IMAX]," Franklin said. "There's no visual system that comes close to it yet. We chose IMAX because it's the biggest canvas we could find to be able to...

Sean Groubert, former South Carolina state trooper, was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery for shooting a man during a traffic stop.
Dashboard Video Shows Groubert Shooting Jones
Levar Edward Jones, a 35-year-old black man, was pulled over by Groubert, a 31-year-old white man, for a seatbelt violation on Sept. 4. According to security footage from the trooper’s dashboard camera, Groubert flashed his sirens as Jones was pulling into a gas station. Jones exited the vehicle, and Groubert asked to see his license, but, when Jones reached into his car to retrieve his license, Groubert shouted, “Get out of the car, get out of the car,” and immediately began firing.
Four shots are clearly heard in the video, which was released to the public Wednesday night following Groubert’s bond hearing. Jones was hit once in the hip and is currently recovering.

One Direction swept through St. Louis on Thursday night, and while scores of concertgoers were screaming at the sight of the boys as they took the stage, there was another entirely different, amazing reason to cheer. During the encore, Harry Styles hit the stage in a Michael Sam jersey. Michael, if you recall, rocked the sports world by officially coming out as gay back in February. He's been making history ever since; back in May, he became the first openly gay player to be drafted, and if he makes it through training, he'll be the first openly gay athlete to play in the NFL. Harry's choice of outfit is too perfect to be coincidence: Michael was, in fact, drafted to the Rams, who are based in St. Louis, where One Direction was performing. The move also comes at a crucial time: if Michael survives the next round of cuts, he'll officially make the team.

St. Louis — The mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater rattled the nerves of some other moviegoers with opening weekend tickets for the new Batman film and led some cinema chains to add more guards. Experts say it's unlikely, though, that venues will implement even stricter security measures because it would significantly alter the experience of going to a film, concert or game.
The early Friday rampage in Aurora, Colo., at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," left 12 people dead and dozens wounded. Authorities say the gunman apparently slipped out through an emergency exit to arm himself, then re-entered that way and opened fire on the startled audience.
The attack had a chilling effect on some ticketholders who had been eagerly awaiting what had been billed as the summer's hottest movie.

As if the guy didn’t already have enough on his plate, we can now add one more movie to our favourite Mexican auteur’s ever growing pile. Director of the modern fantasy classic Pans Labyrinth and the Hellboy Series: Guillermo Del Toro has recently signed on to produce an upcoming CG-animated feature ‘Day Of The Dead’.
At first glance the title may be a bit confusing but let me clarify something: This is not a remake of George Romero’s Day Of The Dead and contains no connection to his zombie franchise or zombies at all it seems;
The story is “an action-packed, fully CG-animated picture, with a “Romeo and Juliet” style love story set against a Mexican “Day of the Dead” backdrop”.
Setup at Reel FX, the project will be directed by Emmy Award Winner Jorge R. Gutierrez best known for Nickelodeons El Tigre, The Adventures of Manny Rivera.

Further to our story in 2010, Paramount Pictures has now acquired worldwide distribution rights to the first James Cameron-produced "Cirque du Soleil" 3D feature film, "Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away", featuring performances from various "Cirque" productions, written and directed by Andrew Adamson ("Shrek").
Cameron produces with Adamson, Aron Warner and Cirque’s Martin Bolduc, Ed Jones and Cary Granat.
"The coupling of filmmaker James Cameron’s groundbreaking 3D visual accomplishments and Andrew Adamson’s beautiful direction, combined with a timeless original story written especially for this movie, will make for a truly amazing moviegoeing experience for audiences of all ages," said Paramount Pictures Vice Chairman Rob Moore.
Quebec-based "Cirque du Soleil" entered into a partnership in 2010, with Cameron and Adamson, in association with Reel FX Entertainment, with the intention to design, develop and produce 'immersive' theatrical 3D projects inspired by 'Cirque du Soleil'.

You’ll have to forgive my insolence, but the James Cameron-produced, Andrew Adamson-directed 3D Cirque du Soleil film slipped from my mind over the past 13 months. Though I was reminded of it in a pretty positive way (or, as positively as one could take this news): A press release tells us that Paramount has acquired the project, titled Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away.
We aren’t told anything about the story, actors, or wacky contortions in this announcement, but we can nevertheless expect “a truly amazing moviegoeing experience for audiences of all ages.” Even without that information at hand, I’m pretty confident in saying this is a project I’ll only lend some attention toward — primarily because of Cameron‘s technical work in the 3D department. A new movie from the director of Shrek and Narnia just isn’t in my wheelhouse of interest.

James Cameron likes to work with the biggest possible canvas in whatever narrative mode he's in, as evidenced by the expanding scope of his Terminator films, then movies like Titanic and Avatar. As far as physical performance goes, you don't get much bigger than Cirque Du Soleil (as far as name recognition goes, at least) and so Cameron working with the company seems pretty natural. You might remember that James Cameron was working as producer and 3D consultant on a filmed Cirque Du Soleil feature that Andrew Adamson (Shrek, The Chronicles of Narnia) was writing and directing. We first heard about this [1] way back in December of 2010, and news has been quiet on the project since then. Now there is some new info, primarily that Paramount has picked up worldwide rights to the film. The studio press release is below. The info that isn't in the press release is that...
