2017-07-20T12:57:42-07:00Charlize Theron Likes Same-Sex Love Scenes
Charlize Theron prefers filming steamy scenes with Sofia Boutella rather than any other co-star.
“With Sofia, it was easy just because we’re both dancers and you have to choreograph those scenes quite a bit,” the Oscar winner told Extra of her sex scenes with Boutella, 35, in “Atomic Blonde.” “Otherwise, they just become silly. There is a technical aspect to it, so with her, it was really easy because she thinks like me because we’re dancers.”
Theron, 41, studied ballet as a child, but her dance aspirations were curtailed after a knee injury at 18. Boutella began her career as a dancer and has worked with Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Disney has been having a hard time finding someone to play Aladdin. We’re going to help them out and narrow down the search, but letting them know who not to cast. You know, just in case they get any ideas. Jake Gyllenhaal He’s a white dude. Joseph Fiennes He couldn’t even pass as Michael Jackson … Christian Bale Moses wasn’t a white guy and neither is Aladdin — so yeah. Benedict Cumberbatch Remember when this white dude played Khan Noonien Singh in “Star Trek Into Darkness”? Russell Crowe This white dude played Noah. I think that’s enough appropriation for a lifetime.

There is just something magical about seeing your favourite celebrity perform live for you on stage. There is this connection as they dance sing or even just speak on stage that brightens up the night and mesmerises us. Now add in 5 big names on 1 stage and you get the Da-Bangg Tour.
The night began with a dance performance by Shiamak Sydney Dance Troupe to get the beat bumping. A medley of new and old tunes including ‘Tamma Tamma’ and ‘Laila Main Laila’ was well received, but after starting late, the audience was itching to see their beloved stars.
Then came Manish Paul in his only solo dancing routine for the Dabangg intro song. Not quite a theme song but he introduces everyone to arrive on stage like pre-performance hype. It seemed like he would be the weakest link to the whole night. Yet the host/actor doesn’t disappoint. He...

Inside the cyberpunk anime masterpiece that rocked the world.
Almost thirty years later, the tremors of Akira can still be felt across the world. The quintessential anime film that not only is the pinnacle of its genre, but continues to inspire artists world wide even to this day. There have been numerous attempts to get a live-action film off the ground, the latest having Get Out director Jordan Peele attached. With any luck the poor returns on Ghost in the Shell will put this one on the shelf. There is little chance that Hollywood would be able to get Akira right, for all the reasons that make it so great. Akira is still a landmark and continues to shine as a titan of animation.
For those unfamiliar with Akira, it takes place thirty-one years after explosion led to the start of World War III. Tokyo is rebuilt as Neo Tokyo and in 2019, a young motor cycle gang...

How do you think the percentage of condoms that break in real life compares to the percentage of condoms that break on television?
It seems as though every single time a character on television finds out she's pregnant, it's because a condom broke.
I know condoms aren't foolproof, but it feels like if condoms broke in real life as often as they do on television, the condom industry would have gone out of business back in the Eighties.
I assume this is because television producers don't want to portray irresponsible, unprotected sex as something common and everyday. They want the characters to appear to have made smart life choices, but they also want the drama that a surprise baby brings.
So, they blame the condoms and call it a day.
Why did I just go on a seemingly unprovoked rant about the fragility of fictional condoms? Well, on Star Season...

The time machine has taken many forms over the centuries: Dr. Who, Bill and Ted all ventured through the fourth dimension in a phone booth; Doc Brown used a Delorean; Homer Simpson a toaster; and an illegal Russian energy drink was all it took to send a certain hot tub hopping through the spacetime continuum. When Broad City stars Ilana Glazer and Paul W. Downs, and writer/director Lucia Aniello, decided to put a stoner spin on the genre, they centered their time travel pipe dream around the only logical choice: A bong.

Yesterday we were all innocent and naive. Today that is gone. Today we know that Michael Jackson was in the running to play Jar Jar Binks in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” But the real kicker? Does anyone else find themselves asking “What would it have possibly hurt?” Let’s back up for a minute. Vice did an interview with Ahmed Best about his career in Hollywood. If that names doesn’t sound familiar, it’s because most people don’t realize he was Jar Jar Binks actor. Or that Jar Jar Binks Had an actor outside of a voice recording booth. Behest discusses the nascent motion-capture technology used in “The Phantom Menance” that would later be thrust into the national spotlight with Andy Serkis’ Gollum in “Lord of the Rings.” But things get weird once Behest starts down memory lane: George [Lucas] told me [Michael Jackson wanted the part]. [W]e were at Wembley arena at Michael Jackson's concert.

Michael Jackson was the "King of Pop." But he nearly became the King of Acting Flops. The singer reportedly told Star Wars mastermind George Lucas that he wanted to play goofy Gungan Jar Jar Binks, one of the most despised characters in film history, in the franchise's 1999 blockbuster, Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Ahmed Best, who voiced and provided motion capture for the Binks character, explained Jackson's interest in an interview with Vice.

Germany’s Burhan Qurbani wins best director prize for We Are Strong. We Are Young.
Gábor Reisz’s slacker comedy For Some Inexplicable Reason won the Grand Prix winner at the 6th edition of the Voices festival for young European cinema in the Russian provincial town of Vologda on Sunday evening (July 5).
Reisz’s debut had its world premiere in the East of the West competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival last year and is handled internationally by Alpha Violet.
The award was the film’s ninth trophy after prizes at festivals in Turin and Sofia, among others.
Speaking to ScreenDaily in Vologda, Reisz said that his film’s lead actor - fellow directing student Áron Ferenczik - had been overhelmed by the attention given to him for his acting turn as the slacker Áron, but is now preparing to direct a TV movie.

There is a case to be made for home movies as the purest form of cinema. It’s folly, of course, to pit films against one another based on the circumstances under which they were made; to argue what is realer, and thus more valid, than the other. In a camera’s lens, especially, the lines of truth and lies blur and overlap. It’s just that in what we believe to be reality the stakes are always higher, the emotions elevated. One of the first films ever made, the Lumière brothers’ L'arrivée d'un train à La Ciotat, was a succinct 56 seconds that depicted the arrival of a train at its station in Lyon, France. When it was first shown to the public it was the audience’s virgin film-viewing experience, and it was reported that many were frightened by the illusion that the train was coming straight for them.

There have been many TV bios of Elvis Presley but Elvis, The Movie, the once-elusive 1979 feature starring Kurt Russell, was the first and is still the best. Over a busier-than-expected three-day weekend, 3D concert flick One Direction: This is Us narrowly took first place at the box office ahead of Lee Daniels' The Butler. Including Labor Day, however, The Butler ultimately came out on top over the holiday weekend. The big story, though, is the incredible performance of Spanish-language family comedy Instructions Not Included, which wound up in fifth place despite playing in fewer than 400 theaters. For the four-day frame, overall business came in over $160 million*that makes this the highest-grossing Labor Day weekend ever. The riches were spread across a ton of titles: over the four-day weekend, 26 different movies grossed over $1 million.Playing at 2,735 theaters, One Direction: This is Us opened in first place with $15.8 million ($18.5 million four-day). That's way off from the concert movies featuring Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson, all of which started with over $23 million. Still, it's noticeably ahead of...

The enigma of rock 'n' roll comes with its own brand of myths and legends that permeate through culture and become fixtures in certain artists' lore. From the strange relationship confusion surrounding The White Stripes to Lady Gaga being a rumored hermaphrodite, certain music mythology amplifies the bohemian world of rock. Here's a look at a few of prevalent rock legends.
Gene Simmons' cow tongue
Simmons certainly has an abnormally long tongue, a fact emphasized by his fire-breathing, blood-spitting antics onstage. Fans have long been prompted to question whether it was actually a cow's tongue surgically added to his own, a rumor that's been debunked due to its medical impossibility. A cow's tongue is a typically a foot long, meaning there's no way one to fit even part of one in a human's mouth. Simmons says he simply has a "superlong tongue."

I'm having a great time. We had a dress rehearsal for this, believe it or not. Let me tell you, they don't water their drinks down like they do in the film industry.
You've got three films coming out this year (2). Which one should I be most excited about?
They're all exciting in different ways. I'm most excited about Mandela. Pacific Rim I saw the other day, which is ... if you like that sort of film, that sort of massive real-life cartoon with really good actors and really good effects, you're gonna love it.
The PR who organised this said that you might win an Oscar for the Mandela film.
I've not heard that.

Sony has announced that this week’s PlayStation Plus update will let you live out all your repressed cartoon-stuntman fantasies (well, maybe not all of them), as Hello Games’ Joe Danger 2: The Movie is added to subscriber’s Instant Game Collection. If Joe Danger is not your style, Sony also announced that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to grab a 20% discount off the 2D beat ‘em up Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Ultimate Edition. This new edition packs in...

Recent release Apollo 18 is a horror movie set on the Moon. Even if the whole basis of the film being leaked footage from a secret mission is bogus, the concept is brilliant. Whoever decided to pick the Earth’s sole satellite as the setting for their scary story deserves a gold star and a Milky Bar for this stroke of inspired genius.
Indeed, the Big Black beyond the stratosphere is anxiety-inducing as an infinite unknown with terrifying potential. As the Alien poster put it, “In space, no one can hear you scream” so the void is the perfect backdrop on which to build a sci-fi chiller.

The Good Wife is upping the gay factor exponentially this season. Not only does it have Christine Baranski, who I dub an honorary gay man, bisexual Alan Cumming, and Alicia's gay brother Owen (Dallas Roberts), now they've given Owen a boyfriend played by Michael Arden. On top of all of that (not to mention Kalinda), Harvey Fierstein is joining the cast as a liberal judge to meddle in Alicia's cases.

With summer being the much anticipated months for the film biz, more shocking stories come into sight. World’s Greatest Dad is the latest movie from the world’s best-named director, Bobcat Goldthwait (Sleeping Dogs Lie). The film centres around a failed writer/failing teacher, Lance (a restrained and remarkable Robin Williams, the performance erases all memories of Flubber), and his obnoxious teenage son, Kyle (perfectly pitched by Daryl Sabara). When Kyle dies in sordid circumstances, his father, finding the body first, covers up the true nature of his death and writes a heartfelt suicide note that makes Kyle posthumously more popular than post-homicide Michael Jackson. As the note gains popularity at the local school where Kyle was a student, Lance has now, finally, achieved success as a writer - how far will he continue the deception to achieve his own ends? Hollywood funnyman Jack Black thrilled clubbers in London on Saturday by taking the stage at a karaoke night and belting out his favourite tunes.
The King Kong star - who also fronts rock band Tenacious D - made an appearance at hip venue Jalouse in the British capital with his castmates and crew from upcoming movie Gulliver's Travels as they celebrated the end of production.
