Exclusive: El Chicano producer Joe Carnahan said that "all safety protocols were followed to the T" in the run-up to last week's on-set accident in Calgary when a stunt car and a taco truck collided and sent another car crashing into the camera platform as the camera crew went scrambling. He said a cameraman's claims that the shot was unsafe and poorly planned are "simply not true." Stuntman Greg Harris was injured in the accident. "He was there to safety our director of…...

It’s always exciting to see who makes the cut each year for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, and this time around the nominees span the sonic spectrum.
Included in the list of 16 hopefuls are acts like Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Cat Stevens, Nirvana, Kiss, Nwa, Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, and Yes.
Especially notable is the inclusion of Nirvana, as it’s their first year of eligibility given that their first recording “Love Buzz” was released in 1988.
Rock Hall honcho Greg Harris told press, "I think it's remarkable in that there are so many first-time nominees. It's remarkably diverse in the type of bands that are on it."
The top five vote-getters will be inducted in April at a New York City ceremony. Fans can cast ballots online!

Grunge, old-school rap and pyro-infused '70s rock are well represented in the latest list of nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nirvana, Kiss, N.W.A. and solo artists Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens are among the 16 nominees for 2014, Cleveland's Rock Hall announced Wednesday. They are joined as nominees by Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Deep Purple, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Link Wray, the Meters, Chic, Yes and the Zombies. Grunge rock kings Nirvana made it onto the ballot in their first year of eligibility. Nominees for the rock honor...

While her "Sun Don't Shine" director Amy Seimetz can currently be seen in AMC's "The Killing" and HBO's "Family Tree," Kate Lyn Sheil will soon be seen in television project of her own. Well, if we can classify it as TV -- Sheil, a prolific indie actress who in the last few years has starred in "The Color Wheel," "V/H/S," "Green," "Silver Bullets," "The Comedy" and many more, has joined the cast of season two of Netflix's political drama "House of Cards." Buzzfeed's Jordan Zakarin broke the news, noting that her role on the show remains secret. The second 13-episode arc of the series, which comes out on DVD today and which kicked off Netflix's ongoing and influential rollout of original programming, is currently shooting in Maryland. Sheil isn't the only new cast addition -- TVLine reported last month that Sam Page (Greg Harris on "Mad Men") and Molly Parker ("Deadwood,...

Do not read on unless you've seen Season 5, Episode 11 of AMC's "Mad Men," "The Other Woman."
"This thing, gentlemen. What price would we pay? What behavior would we forgive?" - Don in the Jaguar pitch
"There is no number." - Peggy to Don
For various reasons, I wasn't able to review Mad Men until Monday evening, and I was glad to have the extra thinking time. Before I get to specific thoughts on the episode though, I'll share a few thoughts on the season as a whole. Call it my State of the "Mad Men" address.
Here's my big admission: I'm going to be fine with it when the current season of "Mad Men" ends.
Let me be clear: That is not me saying that I dislike "Mad Men." That's incorrect. I think the drama is still tremendously interesting in any number of ways and worth watching.
But normally, at this point in a season,...

Well, that was one of the spookier Mad Men episodes, complete with not one but two dream sequences. As always, there be some spoilers ahead discussing this episode, the aptly titled "Mystery Date."
The horizon of the future, i.e., the later '60s, is getting much darker, and a lot closer. New York City has slid past its peak, at which it glittered as the series began. Things increasingly don't work, we're seeing some people who look rather unkempt. And they're not the hippies, because those folks have yet to arrive.
Incidentally, you can see all my Mad Men pieces, going back to 2009, here in The Mad Men File.
It's mid-July 1966. The worst things are happening elsewhere, but they're getting closer. Richard Speck raped and murdered eight student nurses in Chicago, and race riots have cropped up in the Windy City as well. Much of the Mad Men crew...

As a series, Mad Men prides itself on its meticulous, even fanatical, attention to detail.
But military details seem to elude its creators. Last night's show featured an enlisted man saluting Captain (Dr.) Greg Harris indoors at a restaurant. This is contrary to military customs and courtesies. You might salute indoors if you were reporting in to a superior officer (or being called on the carpet), but you certainly wouldn't salute an officer indoors at a social occasion. What a polite enlisted man might do is to nod or utter a discrete "Good evening, sir."
This distinction makes a difference. Mad Men was straining to create a scenario in which Dr. Greg could dress down the waiter for his apparent disregard for the sacrifice of military members. So the show's creators concocted a salute and an exchange that was both forced and false.
In Mad Men, perhaps the worst character is Dr.

"You loved it." What does it mean to be a good man? Is it the ability to uphold one's vows--constancy, fidelity, honesty--or is it that one's actions echo forever in a relationship? We're given a prism in this week's episode of Mad Men ("Mystery Date"), written by Victor Levin and Matthew Weiner and directed by Matt Shakman, through which to view both Don Draper (Jon Hamm) and Greg Harris (Sam Page), as well as the notion of the pursuit, which looms large over the action, casting a dark spell from which several characters find they cannot wake. It's telling that Michael Ginsburg (Ben Feldman) offers a disturbing fairy tale to the pitch clients rather than the agreed-upon campaign that he had already discussed with Don, putting everyone on the spot. He offers up a narrative that's certainly not in line with the Disney version of Cinderella, but casts the heroine...

Mad Men Season 4 Episode 3, “The Good News,” reminded viewers once again that the series is not only about the advertising business and the sexual relationships of the characters, but also about the historically rich sociopolitical climate of the time. Episode 3 highlighted the Vietnam War and focused on Joan (Christina Hendricks), Lane Pryce (Jared Harris) and Don Draper (Jon Hamm). 1964 is coming to a close and the Vietnam War is looming over the country. Joan took the spotlight in Episode 3. We learned that she had two abortions prior to her relationship with Sam Page (Greg Harris). The first was performed by a doctor, the second was performed under more before her husband, the second performed under less favorable circumstances by a midwife. With a possible Vietnam draft in Sam’s future, Joan is looking to have a child sooner than later. However, Pryce has refused to give ...
